PLANET VALENTI News and Commentary

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13, 2012) — The story begins as so many do, with a dime dropped in the still of the night from someone who knows something. Cyberspace is one of the best innovations yet in terms of its ability to let loose the information on What Really Going On.

We are sorry that the Usual Gang of GOB Idiots, who are used to controlling the flow of information, have been kicked off the top of the Hill, but they must, as The Little Guy has had to do since time immemorial, “suck it up.”

Most stories that come to us this way either prove unsubstantial and not worthy of pursuit or unimportant, even when a source drops a map where the bodies are buried. Others, though, bear fruit, for example, The Great WTBR Flip-Flop Starring Larry Kratka.

Daddy Jake Lands on His Feet, But Was He Double Dipping All Along? If So, Pittsfield Taxpayers Were Again the Suckers

This one has to do with Jake — not the recently departed Boy Jake, who couldn’t contain his emotions when delivering his farewell farewell at the THS graduation. “We love you, Jake,” yelled one obviously impaired little girl, a sentiment shared by incompetents everywhere, including Ro “I am a Lesbian So Get Over It” Frieri, veterans’ agent who has told our loyal men and women in uniform get “Get f—ed,” though not in those words, exactly.

Boy Jake will sure and miraculously land in a good job with good pay for carrying GOB water (does the name Hillcrest ring a bell?), and so has Daddy Jake, who — like his son — hauled more Special Interest water than Gunga Din. We refer to Howard Eberwein II, Big Daddy, who has landed upright in his latest professional digs.

The information has been officially confirmed. The deal is this, dear reader: Don’t tell anyone, because it’s been labeled Top Secret. Guess “They” (as Larry “The Spine” Kratka calls “Them”) don’t know our spies are everywhere. Yeah, we found out.

Daddy Jake is now part of the “administrative team” as director of education at the Eagleton School. Troubled kids sure have made this man’s life sweet.

Eagleton is a “residential and teraputic program for boys nine through 22,” veddy private, veddy beaucoup bucks. Don’t even think about sending your brat there if you have to ask how much it costs to attend the Great Barrington “school” or you can get Pittsfield taxpayers to foot the bill.

The Story Gets Better

The story gets better. It seems that Daddy Jake has been serving at Eagleton for several months or longer! Hmmm, help us with the arithmetic and the physics. Can a man serve two jobs at the same time and still one person be? Wasn’t Daddy only until recently employed by the Sheriff’s Department? You don’t mean to say that he was double dipping? We are shocked, utterly shocked.

Dr. "He prefers to be called Howard" Eberwein II" (Eagleton School)

On the Eagleton web site, under “Who We Are,” they list key staff members. Eberwein is named. At the bottom of that listing, we read “Created on 02 March 2009.”

That would appear to indicate that Eberwein has been on the Eagleton staff since at least that time. We raise this as a fair question: Has Eberwein been double dipping (JRC head and Eagleton director of education) for more than three years? Is that legal? Can city taxpayers obtain recovery of money paid to the JRC for Eberwein’s salary? Can Sheriff Tom Bowler lend any light on these questions?

The Eagleton e-newsletter of January 2012 announces Daddy Jake, “who prefers to be called Howard,” as a staff member. In listing his career accomplishments, no mention is made of achievements in the line of sexual harassment.

A source from the Pittsfield School Department tells us that under Boy “We Love You” Jake, many students were condemned to the JRC, Housatonic Academy (a Hillcrest school), or Eagleton, for grounds no more substantial than biting off the earser of a No. 2 pencil. There’s money to be made, you see.

At $100 Grand Per Student, Daddy Jake Ought to Be Worth His Weight in Dung to Eagleton School

“The last number I could find of the number of PPS students attending Eagleton School was between 10-15,” one of our Pittsfield Schools source tells us. “Can you imagine the bill to Pittsfield taxpayers for sending this number of students to Eagleton? Private residential school placement can cost between $80,000 and $100,000 each year, per student. No wonder why Eagleton wants Howie Senior there, and if Howie Junior goes to Hillcrest, the market is closed in Berkshire County for residential school placements.”

Yes, we can imagine. Fifteen times $100,000 is $1.5 million, taxpayers!

Our spies also share a related piece of information. They say that Bill Heaphy is no longer the Taconic boys basketball coach. He is the new head at the JRC. Again, please keep this secret. You’re not supposed to know this.

“A job, again not posted, goes to a GOB,” one source said. The source added that Heaphy’s son, too, works for the Pittsfield School Department, that den of incest, which, if true, comes as no shocker.

Here is the “Administrative Team” as listed on the Eagleton website:

– Executive Director: Bruce Bona Ext.103

– NAPPI President: David Farrell Ext. 189 davidf@nappi-training.com

– Program Director: Vickie Shufton Ext.193 vickie@eagletonschool.com

– Human Resources: Kathleen Young Ext.196 kathleeny@eagletonschool.com

– Residential Director: Lloyd Johnston Ext.136 lloydj@eagletonschool.com

– Clinical Director: Maureen Pryjma Ext.114 maureenp@eagletonschool.com

– Education Director: Dr. Howard Eberwein Ext.124

– Financial Director: Lori Ann Kueblbeck Ext.103 lkueblbeck@eagletonschool.com

– Admissions Director: Leo Rosa Ext.107 lrosa@eagletonschool.com

– Marketing Director: Becky Mitchell Ext. 105 bmitchell@eagletonschool.com

Isn’t is odd that Daddy E is only one of two for whom no e-mail address is given, the other being the head of the whole shebang?

QUICK HITS AND TIDY BITS

Whole Cloth — One of the more hysterical accusations hurled at THE PLANET, perhaps ever, was the one made yesterday by a GOB apologist who accused us of “manufacturing the entire ‘TBR incident” to drive traffic on our site. We can only enjoy a good laugh at the charge at its sheer ridiculousness, although we can report that the story has led to a number of new records in terms of traffic volume at THE PLANET.

BEEPER Benefit — “If I was the host of a late-night infomercial on cable TV, this is the point where I would begin to feverishly list off all the benefits of the BYP [Berkshire Young Professionals] card,” gushes Ashley Sulock, Berkshire Chamber of Commerce‘s PR flack. “List off”?

Truly? Anyways, Sulock goes on to “list off” a myriad of benefits. Somehow, she forget to add this one: “Loyalty, or clamming up when the adults tells us to do so after having witnessed an excess of drinking sarsparilla on the night one of our members nearly kills an innocent pedestrian with her daddy’s SUV after one of our Networking Socials.”

How Dry I Am — On the BEEPER page of the June 2012 Chamber publication (page 10 for those keeping scoare at home), we have pictures of the following well-scrubbed faces: Melissa Agosto, Ricardo Morales, Joe Ryan, Kerry Ryan, Michelle Bissell, Allison Chomiere, Ashley Alter, Thomas O’Brien Jr., Christine Hoyt, Ryan Belanger, Jill Brothers, Jackie Dolan, Lauren Cimini, Jill Brothers, Erin Carlotta, Danielle Giulian, Natanya Green, and Joe Solomon. Not one of them is pictured holding a drink. For most, not even their hands are showing. How reassuring.

Ro "Lez Miserables" Frieri: "Cant Touch That."

Ro Ro Ro Your Boat, Gently Down the StreamRosanne Frieri, the woman who masquerades as Pittsfield Veterans’ Agent, says on her website that she spends her time “assisting veterans with benefits and services they have so valiantly earned by serving their Country [sic] in time of need.” How sweet. Truth in advertising would require a slight revision: “Ro Frieri spends her time sucking up to political types who will provide her cover for her lack of ability in service to veterans.” Ro is untouchable. She is Woman, hear her roar, and she is a Lesbian, mainstream’s current flavor of the month. Frieri still has not responded to THE PLANET’s request for comment on the WTBR story.

What Are We Not Getting? — Frieri has this on her website, lifted verbatim:

We provide services related to processing VA claims including VA pensions, rehabilitation, counseling related to employment, copies of discharges as well as a variety of other areas.  Weddings At Rosanne M. Frieri Photography, we have a great philosophy. You Create the Moment…We Capture the Memories. That’s what we will do. Tell us how you want your special day to be remembered.

Smooth, isn’t it? One can say with respect to Bill Sturgeon, tireless advocate for veterans, She Created the Moment, and THE PLANET Captured the Memories. Frieri lists her “current city” as “Albany, NY.” What? She doesn’t even live in Pittsfield? In her listing of contributors to her failed campaign for state rep we find one “Pamela Malumphy, 16 Wellesley St., Pittsfield, $100.”

“Are you kidding me,” THE STOOLEY writes. “A lousy hundred bucks is all Pummelin’ Pam could throw down the drain for the politically correct lesbian woman candidate? What is Massachusetts coming to?”

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

THE PLANET has received several Letters to the Editor. Let is share some of them in an attempt to whittle down the pile:

Tax Increase on ‘Poor People’ Unconscionable

TERRY KINNAS

This is a response to the writers of the letter to the editor [in the Berkshire Eagle] on “Death by a thousand cuts for schools.” [The writers were members of the Christian, non-Catholic clergy]

Pittsfield is a relatively poor community with 55 % of the children on free or reduced lunch. (The FEDS just ordered us to raise our lunch prices). Yet you are proposing to raise property taxes on these poor people. You do not pay any property taxes, as you are non-profits. So I have three suggestions:

1. A local school tax on all non-profits at the rate equal to the full amount of the cost associated with the schools.

2. If you truly believe that the one million is needed then please make a dedicated donation in that amount to the school department for the next fiscal year.

3. Have all your organizations provide unlimited pre-school enrollment so that the public schools can reduce costs in an area of education  that was totally private before.

Terry Kinnas

The writer is a member of the Pittsfield School Committee.

—– 00 —–

This is an open letter sent to THE PLANET addressed to Mayor Dan Bianchi:

‘How Do These People Sleep At Night?”

Mr. Mayor

I approve your decision to make certain cuts to the public school budget as well as others that you see fit. Today’s article published by the Berkshire Eagle with former Mayor Ruberto’s opinion on taxes and how you could just raise the property tax because we’re already paying under state averages sickens me, and it’s the exact type of attitude and direction we need to move city gov’t away from.

I believe the Eagle writes these articles not as informational but to sway public opinion  and make your job tougher.  Personally I do not send my children to Pittsfield public schools and the 150 people the superintendent gathered do not reflect the views of the majority of tax payers in this city. Throwing money at education is not the answer to make it better. You make education better by holding teachers and the administration accountable and by encouraging parental involvement.

Also their story on the radio show couldn’t be farther from the truth. How do these people sleep at night? Someone asked you yesterday if you were on acid but anyone who believes the crap the Eagle spews must be on drugs.

—– 00 —–

Finally, we received this from a husband and wife team that obviously pays attention to what’s going on in Pittsfield. They also obviously have the ability to reflect thoughtfully on the dreadful situation:

Ro Frieri: ‘An Attitude of Entitlement’

Comments: Hi Dan,

After reading today’s Eagle article on Bill Sturgeon, we immediately consulted The Planet. As expected, The Planet shed ample light on Ro Frieri, showing us who she really is (or isn’t!). She was at GE when I worked there, always the same attitude as today: one of entitlement. We are so sick of local politics and The Planet hits the mark. Tim met Bill in cardiac rehab a few years back, and we both liked him immediately. Sharp, savvy, and kind guy. I will spare you Timothy’s real comments about Pittsfield!

Anyway, what can be done to oust someone so incompetent? No wonder Pittsfield contines to erode on all fronts…the sad part is that so many deserving people, like our local vets, have to pay such a price. Abominable.

Vickie

We thanks all our letter writers. THE PLANET invites letters from all parts of the political and social spectrum.

I think the real question is whether or not the Eagleton position is a full time job. If it is not then there may be no conflict except that students from JRC and Pittsfield Public Schools are referred there. Also, what is the approval process of the school district spending the amount of funds that it takes to send a child to a residential school? It sures seems like it might be hard to keep all those juggling balls in the air at once, I hope he is not teaching more than one course at Westfield State. On another note, what happened to a Veteran’s Service Agent who was a real advocate and walked a clear straight line? Maybe Jerry Lee should’ve taken the reins after Ted Handerek transitioned to a higher place.

Larry Caprari took over the job when Ted Handerek retired. Larry did a very good job for years and then he retired too (as is his right). Squiggy appointed the current office holder and at least one person who was well qualified for the job could see that the “fix was in” and didn’t bother to apply. (That person was me.)
She has indeed made a mess of things and because she is part of a politically correct minority, she’ll remain untouchable and she’ll continue to negatively affect veterans lives.

Ro Frieri is example one hundred and one why Pittsfield will never move out of the sewer.

I am beginning to lose faith in the new mayor. He really does need to make some tough impact choices or he will lose the support of the hopeful who voted for him.

In the meantime I will redouble my efforts to find a home outside the city of Pittsfield. I am well past believing things will change. God bless those who are poised to raise children here.

Dusty,

Disappointment in this Mayor on this site was heard just 2-3 months after the election. The rush to condemn makes me wonder what the disappointed want.

Are you looking for a firebrand to raise hell, sound and fury? If so, we would enjoy a great deal of entertainment for sure, but the mayor may find himself locked out of his own office.

Me, I just want what is known as Good Governance. Each time I vote, I seek those who bring intelligence, insight, and respect for the taxpayers to their job. In addition, I expect honesty and balance. In other words, professionalism. I do not expect one elected member to correct the misbehavior of others.

In this battle over the school budget, Bianchi stuck to his position with just one member of the school committee agreeing with him, Kinnas.

With the majority of the brains and reason in our government belonging to just a handful in office, it seems foolish to start condemning them for failing to change the culture of City Hall before they can even get their hands on the first budget.

I get all that. But I have been reading about BHS stashing money in the Cayman Islands. And about how the Nilans stomped all over the do unto others as you have them do unto you message. And I see how Alf and his tribe have the tax payers in a financial headlock. And I read about how the unfunded pension liabilities is waiting in the dark to take another huge hit on the taxpayers. Some idiots think we can afford a new 200 million dollars school on top of all the debt the city is already carrying.

I just don’t think I am going to live long enough for any mayor to put this city in a tax situation I can afford. Pittsfield will always be deep under water. And anyone living here, paying their fair share of property taxes (any many are not) will never get ahead. Best for me to look for a city with a real future…one that is not going to drag me down with it…anymore.

Good luck Dusty. You won’t find another town or city that provides the basic services that Pittsfield does for the cost go to any other town garbage will cost you, find a house that in Pittsfield cost $150 thousand and it will cost you 220 thousand any where else. How about sewer or water cost? Well water or septic cost tilte 5 See you back in Pittsfield real soon

Yeah because we NEED the gov’t because we’re too dumb to compost garbage, manage our water intake and grow our food. This summer I have cut my garbage waste, electric and oil use by a lot just by doing simple things and being aware of my families consumption. So far my garden is growing better then ever my electric for a 2,200 sf house is $42.00 and I’ve only used $36.00 for hot water. The gov’t needs us not the other way around.

I for one can give plenty of reasons why I would not leave Pittsfield, most tying into the fact that I have a good life here. See prior commentator’s 15 min list.

I can’t imagine letting the wheelin’ dealin’ city politics drive me out. Get some balance back in your life. If this site is that unsettling to you, you may truly benefit from finding a different recreation.

Your words are those of frustration. I’m focused on voting for and supporting politicians who are committed to my values. If they fail because their positions don’t gain traction, that is fine with me.

99 percent of all politicians will tell you what you want to hear while they are running for election or reelection. They will tell you that they are “committed to your values”. One cannot always tell which ones are lying through their bright white teeth until it is too late. So you are stuck with them until the next election when a fresh batch of bull shitters comes along.

There has to be a better way. And Chet I know Pittsfield is not the only city with corruption but Pittsfields corruption is embedded like third term cancer and instead of recovering any time soon it is more likely that it will die a slow agonizing death.
(those connected however may ride atop the wave and actually come out ahead having parasitically fed off the misery of others)

Seems to me the question of the day is whether Bianchi is bringing good representation to the Budget regarding the school budget.

Given the crowing coming from all corners of the school committee and the school administration, plus the whispering campaign I hear is alive and well in Social Media sites, I would say he is fighting the good fight.

Someone I know at the PHS graduation told me it was Jake’s daughter who yelled out “we love you.” I wonder if that was set-up? Don’t laugh: Jake is a master of PR. He also wasn’t above using his daughter who was among the mob at the school committee meeting protesting the budget “cuts.”
My source also told me everyone left the ceremony disgusted with Jake’s dreadful performance. He made his speech all about him and his.
Two questions remain for the Planet to uncover:
1. Why is Jake III leaving his lofty position?
2. Was Howard fired or did he leave for eagleton on his own terms?

What happened in 1999 and then becomes Chief of Probation in 2002, how much money did SOMEONE have to pay for that pile of s–t? It’s called the “stroke game” also, known as circle jerks! The people need to brake the circle. Keep posting, keep talking and let them know we are watching!

Today’s Eagle Editorial….Oh the Irony in this statement…

It is not unusual for media organizations to feel political pressure but it is unusual for them to yield to it. That is why the decision of WTBR radio to abandon its plan to offer former WBRK talk show host Bill Sturgeon a program has gone from puzzling to disconcerting.

In an interview with Clarence Fanto (Eagle, June 12), Larry Kratka, program director of the Taconic High School community radio station, said pressure from unknown sources persuaded him to delay the program’s debut, which he then abandoned after Mr. Sturgeon suggested this option. In the same interview, Mr. Kratka said pressure was coming from both within and outside the political system and “the pressure was getting to me.” It is unclear how pressure can be felt without knowing its source, which strongly suggests Mr. Kratka is reluctant to say where the pressure was coming from.

When news organizations feel pressure from any source their first instinct is to find out why. The application of pressure suggests that a nerve has been struck, and/ or there is something to hide. In either case, there is usually a news story lurking in the darkness that should be pursued. When news organizations succumb to pressure they are letting their audiences down and telling those applying the pressure that their strategy worked and can be successfully employed again.

On the topic of the Berkshire Young Professionals touched on today. I have long contended that some if not many know the state of Nilian’s lack if sobriety when she left the Great Barrington event on that fated night in Dec. After all she did not drink alone while out with other BYP.

Thus, they are equally guilty for the injuries to Peter Moore. I hope a civil suit will call some of the attendees to testify under oath. Sadly, these young professionals ( AKA scam artists) are well on their way to a cover your a– career in the GOB Pittsfield network. ( me thinks they will fit in nicley) But in many people’s opinion they are as guilty as Meredith and Cliffy .

Can we have a recall vote for a school committee member? Alfie barely made it in by the narrowest of margins in the first place. His actions since then, plus his own employment history, really show him to be unfit to be on any committee.

A job I did two weeks ago was for a consultant working for a lawyers office that advocates for veterans from WWII to get the compensation they so deserve and the woman told me lots of times state and federal money designed for these programs to help vets goes back into the system to fund the current wars needs. So if Ms. Ro is so competent why are veterans seeking private legal help? I’m sure she’s the nicest person you’ll ever meet. Whenever someone snaps what do their neighbors always say? “he was so nice and never bothered anyone it’s unbelievable to me that he would go on a killing rampage at work.”

Dan, I said Roseanne is a nice person because there might have been some people in Pittsfield who dealt with her during the ruberto fiasco of 8 years might think she isn’t. ruberto and Blah Blah made her life very hard during the last two years of his time. As I have been saying, you’re listening to Sturgeon and his crowd. Sturgeon speaks for a VERY small percentage of veteran’s in BC but makes it sound like he’s more than he is. Don’t be fooled, speak to some of the people served well by that office and you’ll get a different story.Don’t believe the words of a blowhard horn blower.
