PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY, NOV. 23, 2015) — As best THE PLANET could tell, there was not a column inch devoted to it in The Boring Broadsheet. The young, inexperienced hands there probably didn’t know better, and the old hands, counting down the hours, have likely ceased to care.

Dec. 7, 1941 invariably gets its mention.

Sept. 11, 2001 receives its due.

Nov. 22, 1963 rests not in peace but in place.

Oh, two years ago the greed merchants capitalized on the golden anniversary of what a dear friend called in a weekend e-mail “the doings in Dallas,” but as a matter of marking and not of marketing, the events of that long weekend 52 years ago recede into the wash of time, yet no single day of the 20th or 21st century changed America as much as 11-22-63.

America’s Tipping Point

Pearl Harbor got America into a war it would have entered anyway. 9-11 spectacularly accelerated American interventionism in a manner not far astray from the slower direction begun by Bush The First in the early 1990s. Nov. 22, on the other hand, ended not only the 1950s, a period that began in 1946 after WWII ended, but the generation of “can do” optimism preceding it. That day in Dallas was reality’s equivalent to the moment the film turns from color to black and white, from a Gene Kelly musical into a Quentin Tarrantino nightmare.  The pall cast over a shocked country that day has never left.

If you were alive then and of an age to appreciate the instant flip-flopping of life from Leave It to Beaver to Rage Against the Machine, you will never forget that day, that moment. A sword pieced the heart, putting the nation’s “tomorrows” into inescapable misery.

There are countless books, films, and other products that attempt to explain the unexplainable. Here are but two.

Rush to Judgment (1966)

  • A 1966 Film by JFK Assassination Researcher Mark Lane.

HIstory Channel banned censored episode The Men Who Killed Kennedy 7 “Smoking Guns”by Diesel Network169,716 views

You don’t “enjoy” films like this. You become mesmerized. Did it really happen?

And the answer never changes.

“Yes.”

It is so interesting to watch the small town of Richmond use their voting rights to Vote down the purchase of Camp Marion White for a $1.5 Million dollar loan.
Pittsfield should be ashamed to encompass a City Charter that excludes the Democracy of its Citizens. Just Saying.

The irony of it is that one of the Richomond head honchos is none other than Mr Kerwood, former Pittsfield city councilor, who along with Massery, Lee and Grunin attempted to turn the city on its ear by adopting what the would call a Civic Authority. It was designed to take away citizen control. It was fought hard and did not come to fruition but the new charter does pretty much the same thing. so they won in the end. The citizens of Pittsfield may never get to vote on another issue ever.

Whenever they ban content such as this, you have to wonder why? There is obviously something there that they don’t want you to see. I actually bought the box set, “The men who killed Kennedy” and episode 9 is not even included. I was very surprised to learn of its existence on youtube.

That show hit on some hard facts.

CIA still has its investigation sealed. (Those files will never see the light of day). The Warren report is complete fiction. Banning material and calling those who believe the government was involved “conspiracy theorists”. Even the Zapruter film was confiscated for years and edited before released, capturing the bloody crime.

Much of the truth is known. It was not a lone gunman. Lee Harvey Oswald lived long enough to make one statement, “I am a patsy”.

The murder of a President in cold blood. Then his brother who was sure to win the Presidency, then his son who was made sure never to get the chance.

Yes Dan, this nation has never recovered from that one event.

When John F. Kennedy was President there was virtually no national debt. The United States was truely a wealthy nation.

Take a dime, quarter or half dollar coin from 1963. Drop it on a table. You will hear a nice ringing sound.
Take a dime, quarter or half dollar coin from 2015. Drop it on a table. You will hear a flat, dead sound.

The United States is now 20 trillion dollar in debt. That’s just what they admit to.

Can you say a nation that is 20 $Trillion dollars in debt is a wealthy nation? Honestly?

And let’s not forget it was Lyndon Johnson that got us entangled in the Vietnam war. JFK’s assassination was a terrible turning point for our entire nation.

Ike and JFK laid the groundwork for our involvement in Vietnam…….JFK was killed by a left wing lunatic, Lee Harvey Oswald……left wing lunatics are responsible for the vast majority of political violence.

First on JFK, great reflection DV on a terrible day. I remember it well. I was an LPN at St. Lukes Hospital when a doctor came into the nurses lounge with the news.

On Civic Authority they said the same thing as was said this time around with the non-vote on THS. “We don’t have to have a vote because we know the people are all for it.” Well we know how the Civic Authority turned out. Same as the school if we had been allowed. A shiny new school of great in a perfect world but not when your city is lacking an economy, spends way too much money for what its taking in and has a punishing tax rate .

Due to the upcoming holiday Charlie Smith can’t appear this week on the Gaetani News Hour. He’ll be on one week later. Look for him on the Friday December 4th show.

Pittsfield politics is totally corrupt. The Good Old Boys still run the show. The people are intimidated from civic participation. A majority of voters decline to vote. Municipal taxes and budgets are increasing by out 5 percent per year. Once the financing of the new Taconic High School kicks in, 5 percent hikes will seem small next to 6 to 7 percent hikes.
The lovely Linda Tyer was backed by all of the G.O.B.’s, including Jimmy Ruberto, Carmen Massimiano, Angelo Stracuzzi, Gerry Lee, Gerry Doyle, Denis Guyer, and Peter Marchetti. The lovely Linda Tyer is going to inherit all of Pittsfield’s problems in early-January, 2016.
Pittsfield politics’ public finances are unsustainable. The G.O.B.’s like to spend taxpayer dollars like water. Even wealthy communities cannot increase taxes and spending by 5, 6, 7 percent per year. About 70 percent of Pittsfield’s residents are poor and rely on welfare and social services. Pittsfield is losing population and jobs at an alarming rate. Next year, Sabic Plastics is closing in Pittsfield, which means between 300 to 500 jobs will be lost in Pittsfield in 2016.
Pittsfield politics is failing the public on all levels! I feel sorry for the lovely Linda Tyer.

Sorry J., Not all the GOB overtly backed Lovely LT. That paragon of honesty and morality, the pride of Hawaii and former mayor of the Pitts, Evan Dobelle, was not actively seen as a supporter; but his wife Kit was.

OMG, no wonder so few continue to take Dan’s blog seriously anymore. The same few characters keep rehashing the same old tired complaints about the state of Pittsfield politics and Berkshires in general.

Dan has provided a great forum, since the Berkshire Eagle as abdicated all responsibility, but things are getting stale here.

If you (the few who contribute daily to this blog) spent half the amount of time you spend trolling Dan’s site bitching about everyone in Berkshire county, and instead actually got out and did something productive in OUR community, maybe, we might see some progress. Or, we could just continue to debate which mayor is the worst and who is connected to the “good old boy network”! Oh, wait, that is already happening. “Sigh”!!!!

Happy Turkey Day!!!!

I totally agree with you the same people saying the same things over and over I find myself skipping most of the stuff on here I guess I should just mind my own business and read what I want and skip the rest.
