PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION NOV. 4-6, 2016) — THE PLANET ends this tumultuous week with one of the final political presentations of Campaign ’16 — local style. We present statements from the candidates seeking district seats in the state House and Senate. Running for Senate, Christine Canning (R) faces Adam Hinds (D). For the House, Chris Connell challenges Tricia Farley-Bouvier. We present the statements of Canning and Connell, unedited as received. THE PLANET received no material from the others.

CHRISTINE CANNING FOR STATE SENATE

For over twenty-five years, the same party has dominated with the same ideas, that haven’t been able to fully implement.  As a result, our area has remained the poorest county.  We are riddle in retribution, corruption, and nepotism.  It is time, for change.  If you haven’t met me, I am Chris Canning the Republican candidate.  Why should you think about voting for me in this one election?  1.  As a Republican, I am in the minority party, which means I can serve on up to three times the committees as my opponent.  This means you will be heard, and represented in many more areas.  2. My track-record, coupled with my education, expertise, life/work experience, make me the best candidate to represent you and your interests.  I strongly encourage you to go online to PCTV to Chanel 16, and watch the BCC Senate debate.  I am the actual licensed school administrator, certified teacher, who is completing her Doctorate in Educational Policy.  If you have a child who is ELL, SPED, Bullied, or wants a quality education, I assure you that I am the one you must vote into office.  Fact:  I understand compliance law, unfunded mandates, educational budgets strain on towns/cities, and have been a whistleblower protecting the health, welfare, and safety of children against fraud.  I understand federal ESSA, and stand firm against MCAS testing — which cost us $150 million dollars this year.

After years of seeing discriminatory practices, which has denied our economies human potential — and cost souls opportunities — I am dedicated to protecting civil liberties.   As a whistleblower, and a person elected or appointed to several civil rights’ based boards, I will defend MGL 151b so that discrimination stops in the workplace and our area.  The freedoms granted to you should not be violated.  As a Constitutionalist, I believe you have the right to: Freedoms of speech, religion, assembly; The right to petition the government; The right to procedural due process; Freedom from discrimination for protected classes, which are characteristics such sex, race, and national origin; and support all the other Amendments for which you are afforded, without prejudice. I would like to see more inclusion so that people who are overweight have stronger protections beyond the American Disabilities Act.   Further, I would like stronger anti-bullying acts implemented so that people are secure from abuse, harassment, and third-party actions, which are targeted with malicious spirit

The Gun Owner’s Action League (GOAL) and the National Rifle Association (NRA) have endorsed my candidacy with top marks, because of my support for the Second Amendment.   Left-wing, Harvard Lawyer, Alan Dershowitz is often quoted, “Foolish liberals who are trying to read the Second Amendment out of the constitution by claiming it’s not an individual right or that it’s too much of a safety hazard don’t see the danger of the big picture. They’re courting disaster by encouraging others to use this same means to eliminate portions of the Constitution they don’t like.”  I agree the Second Amendment is pivotal because if it falls, precedence is set to chip away at concessions which will deny us the rights to be free in our papers, free to exercise religious freedom, and freedom to expression.  Moreover, lawful gun owners are subjected to the most stringent laws and need a Senator who will stand up to politicians, like our Attorney General, who bypass Congress, our legislature, to make unilateral moves based on her beliefs, and not that of our Constitution.

In the Senate, I will serve people, not special interests.  Our people have been subject to too much regulation, and we should be free from government intrusion.  Government should be smaller, smarter, and more efficient. If we are serious about attracting jobs, increasing small business growth, and enticing long term livable wages, we need to have a Senator who is willing to address and to work towards decreasing industry restrictions to improve the ease of doing business in our four counties.  Currently, with the taxes incentives that border us from competing states, we need to stop our interventions and regulations which interfere with employers’ ability to compete.  Through deregulating industries we can seek greater competition, so that issues in transportation, technology (broadband), banking, and energy offer us more viable options.

I believe in helping Americans balance work and family without fear of punishment or penalty. Our paychecks should not be spent on poorly run or loosely monitored government programs.  Social programs should lift people out of poverty.   We need to look at repealing the current Senator’s vote, so that Estate taxes lower.  You were taxed on that money, worked hard to earn it, and it should go back to your beneficiaries, and not to serve the random welfare programs of the Commonwealth.   We need to eliminate certain corporate taxes, so that businesses will relocate to the area providing professional, midlevel, skilled and unskilled jobs with benefits to rebuild our middle class.

America should be energy independent.  As one of two Republicans acknowledged for willingness to  save the environment, and not to take energy money, it is essential I am elected, as my opponent and the Governor have taken energy money (see OCPF reports) — and the pipeline is still on the table at our end of the state.  I will not be locked into the backdoor deals currently going on to push “energy bills”, when other options are out there beyond the obvious to secure our carbon footprint, lower our bills, and make sure that people don’t have to chose between “propane and food” in the winter.

Our local security in food growth is essential, as is our connection to the APR program.  However, we need a slaughter house which uses ‘halal’ methods.  Currently, our animals must travel over 60 miles.  We need more subsidies, money from the federal government, and a change to the farm inheritance system for the Agricultural Community.  Further, we need to repurpose some land for the growth of hemp to sell to industry, and make our working farms profitable.  We need to utilize our food tourism, to emphasize our commitment to growing organic, look at new byproducts industries growing in the dairy industry, and make sure that those in agriculture can sustain and growth by selling to industries such as specialized microbreweries in a competitive manner.

We need to look at livable wages so that elderly Americans have the right to retire with dignity.  We need to continue building affordable elderly housing which offers a secure environment for their protection.   Elderly need a single payer care system, so that premiums associated with Medicare are eliminated.  Elderly incomes are often reduced, and we should offer a model system much like that of the United Kingdom to create quality in the later years.  Elderly need proper nutrition, transportation options, and be further protected from abuse.  Further elderly must be protected from con-artists, greedy family members, and those who might take advantage of vulnerable states.

A public transportation system built to connect south county with NYC, and Pittsfield with Boston, will not only increase income possibilities, but will create better housing prices, while eliminating isolation.  We need a better connection on the interstate to our area between Exit 2 and 3 on the Pike, and a weekly bus that models the Cape Cod Region, which takes our people to Boston hospitals once a week.  Moreover, we need faster shipping and transportation routes that encourage business competition.   Most importantly, we need an UBER system of competition to help those who live off the grid, or work shifts beyond 8-4pm.

As my fifteen point economic plan is very in-depth and lengthy, you may refer to my website or request an appointment with me to discuss, my strong expertise in supplier diversity options, small business assistance, and government contracting. (canning4senate@gmail.com) or refer to my past explanations found in the Eagle or Berkshire Trade and Commerce.

Lastly, we need to support all stakeholders by funding body cameras for police, offering cultural training, increasing penalties for dealers, and restoring law and order so that tax payers feel secure without fear of MS-13 gang members, shootings, and gang violence.   There must also be greater accountability void of retaliation which is transparent so that community building occurs on a regular basis.  This in turn will increase an atmosphere of better law and order to increase tourism, and encourage a healthier nightlife.  I would encourage a “duck-tour” bus, a link to the GO-Card tourism franchise, and a paved-off shopping area much like those seen in Europe, to make our area a longer-term “destination” and not just a place to visit.

This November, easily and effortlessly, you can enact these changes by electing me, CHRIS CANNING, for Senate.  Thank you for your bipartisan support to change our area for the better.

CHRIS CONNELL FOR STATE HOUSE

Nine months ago I began a campaign for State Representative for the 3rd Berkshire district. My decision to run was based mainly on the financial state of the city of Pittsfield. We as a city can no longer fund large projects for the foreseeable future due to the city hitting our tax levy limit. Large projects such as a new police station and major infrastructure repairs such as dams, roads, ADA complaint streets, sidewalks and intersections as well as specialized educational needs will be unattainable due to our heavy debt burden unless we can get our fair share of tax revenue from the state. That’s why the city of Pittsfield needs a much stronger representative with years of business and municipal experience who understands the needs of the city if we are going to continue to grow.

My background varies from working in the corporate world managing millions of dollars in sales to owning a small business to owning and managing rental property. I moved to Pittsfield 14 years ago to take care of my mother who has lived in the same house on Pomeroy Ave. since 1979.

In 2009, I decided to run for city council because I was frustrated with things going on in city government, and no longer wanted to complain without being part of the solution. I was defeated in my first attempt, however I didn’t give up and became involved in the city by serving on the traffic commission. In 2011, I was elected to my first term on the council and have been serving ever since. All of the time I have served on the city council, I have tried to be an independent voice echoing the needs of the residents. I have always tried to find new ways in which the city could run more efficiently thereby saving the residents an unnecessary tax burden. I have had some success as well as some failures. But I have continued my quest to find new and innovative ways to help the city.

I am running as unenrolled or independent for the State Representative position because I represent the hard working people of Pittsfield.  From the dishwasher to landscaper to contractor, I understand your needs because I have worked at all of these positions in my life and at times holding two to three jobs at one time. I want to represent the residents of Pittsfield regardless of political party to ensure that all of your voices are heard.

This race between myself and the current state representative comes down to basically two things:  Performance and Priorities.  In their 5 years in office my opponent has not passed any legislation they have sponsored. That represents 25 bills. In fact, two pieces of legislation that were sponsored, if passed, would have severely affected the citizens in a very negative way. House bill H1590 would have made all of the veteran’s agents become employees of the Dept. of Veterans services and the department would appoint the agents regionally. This would have meant that veterans services would be consolidated to approximately 25 locations and our veterans would have to travel great distances in order to receive guidance on their benefits. Is this how we reward our veterans who have protected our way of life?

House bill H3142 which was sponsored by my opponent requested a pilot study to investigate the effect of a vehicle mileage tax. If enacted, this would have severely affected the residents of Pittsfield and Berkshire county who by our geographical  location have to drive further distances because of anemic public transportation. The residents of the eastern part of the state would have shouldered much less of the tax. Is this true representation?

Over two years ago, the police advisory committee asked for an increase in the fines for jaywalking from our state representative as they currently are only $2.00 and not being enforced because of the low amount. This request fell on deaf ears. This is a quality of life issue here in the city especially on our thoroughfares.  This did not seem like a large request as home rule petitions have been passed on other issues for the city fairly easily by former state representatives.

It’s clear that we need a change in representation. This has been the common theme in the hundreds of conversations that I have had with residents and business leaders since I started my campaign. I represent that change. My performance and my priorities serving the public on the city council have always been for the the public good. I encourage everyone to view my website at www.chrisconnell.org to learn more about me as a person and as a candidate.

This city needs help and we will not get there by re-electing the same person. Elect Chris Connell on November 8th. Thank you.

 ——– 000 ——–

THE PLANET thanks the candidates for their words and for their actions. It’s not easy putting your name out there for public office, especially if you’re trying to buck The System, as these two are. THE PLANET heartily endorses Canning for Senate and Connell for the House.

With that we open The Comment Line.

Have a great weekend, everybody.

Good advice Dan if we all did that next Tuesday, and voted for the candidates who really want to solve problems as opposed to candidates who just want to blow smoke it would be a better country for sure.

Have a hard time taking Connell seriously if he thinks that raising fines is a major concern for constituents. And he’s another school union puppet saying they need more funding, playing the shell game that we can get “free money” from the state…

There is poor lighting throughout the city making it very dangerous at night whether walking or driving. So much money goes toward school department that there is nothing left over for anything else. The city tries to save money in areas where safety should come first.

Councillor Connell has stated publicly that when elected he will donate the one year of council net pay among the 12 social service agencies that will not be funded by the city and that he fought not to have shut off blind sided. Agencies such as Elder services, the summer reading program, and The Christian Center

Undecided voters and, even Hillary fans , need to read this before they vote.

The emails on Humas/Wieners laptop shows just how disgusting the Clintons, Clinton Foundation, DNC, Obamas DOJ, Obama, and some D-members of Congress really are.

The reason FBI reopened the H-Beast investigation, is because the materials found by the NYPD were so vile and criminal, that the NYPD threatened to make public the contents if Comey did not reopen the investigation.

Comey most likely feared for himself, as he closed the investigation shortly after Slick Willie had a “backseat” conference with Obamas DOJ AG Lynch on an plane parked on a runway.

http://www.breitbart.com/radio/2016/11/04/erik-prince-nypd-ready-make-arrests-weiner-case/

Some quotes from the above:

” “Because of Weinergate and the sexting scandal, the NYPD started investigating it. Through a subpoena, through a warrant, they searched his laptop, and sure enough, found those 650,000 emails. They found way more stuff than just more information pertaining to the inappropriate sexting the guy was doing,” Prince claimed.

“They found State Department emails. They found a lot of other really damning criminal information, including money laundering, including the fact that Hillary went to this sex island with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Bill Clinton went there more than 20 times. Hillary Clinton went there at least six times,” he said.

“The amount of garbage that they found in these emails, of criminal activity by Hillary, by her immediate circle, and even by other Democratic members of Congress was so disgusting they gave it to the FBI, and they said, ‘We’re going to go public with this if you don’t reopen the investigation and you don’t do the right thing with timely indictments,’” Prince explained. ”

“NYPD was the first one to look at that laptop,” Prince elaborated. “Weiner and Huma Abedin, his wife – the closest adviser of Hillary Clinton for 20 years – have both flipped. They are cooperating with the government. They both have – they see potential jail time of many years for their crimes, for Huma Abedin sending and receiving and even storing hundreds of thousands of messages from the State Department server and from Hillary Clinton’s own homebrew server, which contained classified information. Weiner faces all kinds of exposure for the inappropriate sexting that was going on and for other information that they found.”

“So NYPD first gets that computer. They see how disgusting it is. They keep a copy of everything, and they pass a copy on to the FBI, which finally pushes the FBI off their chairs, making Comey reopen that investigation, which was indicated in the letter last week. The point being, NYPD has all the information, and they will pursue justice within their rights if the FBI doesn’t,” Prince contended.

“There is all kinds of criminal culpability through all the emails they’ve seen of that 650,000, including money laundering, underage sex, pay-for-play, and, of course, plenty of proof of inappropriate handling, sending/receiving of classified information, up to SAP level Special Access Programs,” he stated.

That’s O.K., H-Beast has the same sort of memory problems, even when she is not under sworn oath.

She was recently on the campaign trail, in Carolina, stumping for a fellow D-governor candidate. Seems she couldn’t remember what town she was in, or who the Governor candidate’s name was either. The D-crowd was duly impressed. Maybe even some will still vote for her?:

The problem is that the general public is also corrupt. They are getting a lot out of having these corrupt politicians in Washington. An honest voting public wouldn’t even think twice about voting for Hillary….they just wouldn’t do it. The Democrats have so brainwashed the general public and the rest of the public who votes for them is corrupt. This isn’t going to end well for this country. They will get short term monetary gain from voting for these corrupt politicians, but in the end everyone including them will suffer from their bad choices.

There has always been early voting for the disabled who receive their absentee ballots in the mail weeks before the election, but this election is different. It’s not just voting for convenience or being out of town. These are people who really wanted to get that vote in ASAP whether for Trump or Clinton. They couldn’t wait like the rest of us for November 8th. I think the statistics after the election will show this to be true.

Extreme negativity inside Pittsfield schools is showing itself through behaviors of staff and mostly principles. It is high time that Mr Mccandless take responsibility of this meanness inside schools.I would start by teaching principles to smile in the grammar schools.A recent volunteer n one elementary school said she witnessed a school paraproffesioal yell and scream at kids the entire 20 mins they have to eat.

Trump supporters will rue the day they voted for him. By next June they will see their lives turned upside down, as will we all, and the cursed “progressives” will have had nothing to do with it.

Mark my words on this one folks. Loyalty to ones party is one thing. Voting a complete screwball into office and chopping off ones own head is explainable.

If progressives had done more to help ALL people when they have been in charge, half of the country wouldn’t be so fed up with the political system. Instead progressives made their policies all about special interest groups and pushing through programs that didn’t have the support of all of the population like Obamacare, green energy, dividing people rather than bringing them together, ignoring the number of people being left behind economically, just to name a few of their many mistakes.

Progressives are not blame free in any of this. Hillary may still win and since she insists that half of the country is deplorable and racists because they dare to be unhappy with the way things are right now, I don’t see healing of the country taking place with Hillary either.

The Clintons, Clinton foundation, and Obama are directly responsible for the creation, funding, and arming of ISIS.

They are also responsible for the genocide of the Christians on Syria and Iraq.

H-Beast brokered an 80 BILLION arms deal, while Obamas SOS, for the Saudis.

US taxpayers subsidized this. The Corrupt Clinton foundation then got millions in donations from Saudis, the Qataris, the Moroccans, the Bahrainis. The Saudis then funneled funds and guns to ISIS.

So who are funding terrorists and “gun runners” on a scale never seen in history? H-Beast and Sotero.

Once ISIS was created, this whole executive branch of our government sat on it’s hands as ISIS slaughtered Christians, Jews, and Kurds. That is a genocide they created and approved of.

When Sotero declared a “refugee crisis” was taking place in Syria, he began his unvetted importation of Muslums, to the exclusion of Christians, Jews, and Kurds. Christians comprise 10% of syrian population, only 0.5% of Barry’s “refugees” have been Christians. WHY IS THAT?

So where is the corruption?

Inside most, if not all, of our executive branch of government. This corruption has been shielded from itself by the last two AGs, Holder and Lynch, and their lesser minions in the DOJ.

http://shoebat.com/2016/11/04/leaked-email-reveals-that-hillary-clinton-was-a-major-figure-behind-the-creation-of-isis-and-the-slaughter-of-christians-and-that-there-is-a-very-organized-conspiracy-to-prevent-donald-trump-from-bec/

Did anyone see the letter in the Berkshire Eagle a few days ago in which a woman wanted drivers to consider driving stoned rather than driving drunk? Yes, she said that drinkers should switch to rule free pot. Cops can’t do anything about it. No test, no charge she writes to convince drivers that being stoned is better than being drunk behind the wheel. Happy days are here again she says. Unbelievable. This after an accident in Burlington, Vermont by a stoned driver killed 5 teens.

How about it’s not good to be either drunk or stoned when driving. Certainly explains why Berkshire County is always portrayed as a drugged up area by the rest of the country.

Here is blunt Pat.

If the republicans had not taken an oath on Obamas first day of office, to destroy him, and actually did their jobs perhaps the country would have move forward more. Mitch McConnell promised to make Obama a one term president by making sure he accomplished nothing. And sure enough his party tried to block every thing Obama did even thing that would benefit themselves. Childish yes. But in the process they hurt their own country. And that is why Trump beat out all the regular republican hot shots. Republican voters want nothing to do with their own party.

Oh yeah, its true.

Look this up before you come back at me.. (not on the Limbaugh or Hannity site please)

That is HILLARYrious!!!

Obama took an oath to uphold the constitution. He has done his best for 8 years to undermine subvert and dismantle it.

And the RINOs let him do it.

That’s why America is disgusted with executive branch corruption and the tacit approval by the RINO establishment in DC. The RINOs blocked very little and let Emperor run roughshod.

America needs to “drain the swamp” of both “parties”.

The Republicans and the progressive Dems both have serious problems. This is why Trump is needed not to burn down the system which some people have said, but hopefully to bring some balance of priorities back to the country. No violence of any sort is wanted or will be tolerated by Trump supporters, just the draining of the swamp. Trump supporters want peace and hope for the future to return to our country for all of us not just the special few. If Trump is elected and doesn’t live up to what we expect, we will complain loudly about him. I will that’s for sure.

Trump pointing out the hypocrisy of Democrats having rapper Jay z’s profanity laced performance during a Clinton rally. The language was terrible including lots of “N’ and “F” words, but everyone thought it was fine even for children. If Trump had someone performing like that at one of his rallies, he would have been slammed for it. I would not have liked Trump having that kind of profanity on display for a family event since these political rallies are family events.

3 points of enlightenment. Just for clarification:

1. So Donald Trump says a bad word 11 years ago.
The ClintonNetworkNews (CNN) runs the story for weeks about how offended democrats are. Hillary says it was deeply offensive. They even had women crying over it.

Now just days before the election (not 11 years ago but now), Hillary hires JayZ to perform at her rally, a free concert, just to get people to come. This guy raps out the NI**ER and F*CK words as many times as he can and the democrats are entertained by this?

Don’t you see the hypocritical mental illness here?

2. The supposed 13 year old girl who was suing Trump for rape has dropped all charges. Really?

There never was a 13 year old girl and Trump never raped anybody.
This was just another lie started by Hillary just to get the headline in the news to smear Trump’s reputation.

3. Hillary stated 17 intelligence agencies found that the leaks came from Russia. Its now been investigated and there were no Russian hacks. This woman will say and do anything to become President.

Russia has been cleared. The leaks came from the NSA, the FBI and the CIA. The very intelligence agencies that Hillary says fingered Russia.

Hillary expects her orders to launch nuclear missles into Russia to be followed within 4 mins of when she gives the order.

Hillary is mentally ill, prancing around in her Chairman Mao outfits.

There is a revolution going on in this country.

Alledgedly Mr. Guyer made some kind of anti-gay remarks in the work place, and he was going thru his budget like water, almost gone. Pretty sure he is not getting a promotion and is long gone from the city payroll. $20,000 was spent on that silly little storm recently. They plowed streets and then it pretty much melted a few hours later. Remember, the smart ones are large and in charge.

Perfect example of how hiring political friends over knowledgeable people in the trade can screw everything up.

Nevertheless, this example will never stop any mayor from hiring his or HER friends before a qualified blue collar trades person.

When you take campaign contributions you become indebted and sometimes wind up breaking off the branch you are standing on when they cannot do the job. But really, who cares.

Cokie Roberts had an article in iberkshires in which she writes that technology is the reason why so many workers are unable to find jobs. This is what is fueling anger in the country not the policies of the politicians in charge. I completely disagree with her on this. Many of the policies of the current administration are infuriating. It may be true as Cokie says that technology is creating loss of jobs for workers except for those with degrees in the high tech field, but Cokie ignores the role that government does need to play in this crisis.

We pay our politicians big money, give them lots of perks and a wonderful lifestyle. We don’t do this to watch them go to photo ops throughout their time in office. To watch them be wined and dined and told how wonderful they are every few months. We put them in office to SOLVE PROBLEMS. Even people on this board have said that government can’t fix the economy, government can’t create jobs. All of this makes me wonder what should be the role of government in this job crisis. I think government should then get out of the way and let people who do know how to create opportunities do their thing. Getting rid of so many government regulations put on businesses would be a good start.

Would you be okay with supporting lots of pot farms? I agree with some medicinal pot being needed for some people, but lots of farms are not needed for small amounts of medicinal pot and farms would encourage too much pot to be available for recreational purposes which would be bad for society. No, government’s role, which everyone seems to have forgotten, is also to first protect the public. A business that would obviously endanger the public should be discouraged not just by the government, but by the public as well who would have to deal with the carnage caused by stoned people causing all kinds of problems throughout society.

And, they can hire assistants to do the job they were elected to do while they have jobs on the side. Do not shed tears for the sad faced politician because she is probably laughing her ass off when she thinks of the taxpayer she is dumping on.

Saturday Night Live runs the final skit before the election on Trump and Clinton. The woman playing Hillary is at least 40 years younger than Hillary. They have an FBI agent kiss Trump thereby implying that the FBI is in bed with Trump and wants him to win the election. This is wrong on so many levels. First of all, the uproar int he FBI right now is because many agents believe Clinton should have been indicted back in July because there more than enough evidence. So this skit doesn’t accurately portray what is really happening. If the FBI was truly in bed with one of the politicians, Clinton WOULD HAVE BEEN indicted back in July. If anything we all know that Bill meeting with the AG in the airport for 45 minutes days before his wife was let off the hook for her crimes was more convincing proof of Democrats pulling the strings to influence the Justice Department. The AG should have been fired for even having that meeting at all with Clinton, but Democrat controlled government swept that messy incident under the rug.

Since this is the entertainment industry we are dealing with that is in the tank for Democrats, they want to twist the truth and count on people being stupid enough to believe it. Hollywood and the high paid stars live a lifestyle that is in no way comparable to how the rest of us live. They don’t have a dog in this fight except that its trendy and cool for them to want to vote for Hillary. Progressives are masters at using the media and culture to try to influence voters and they know what they are doing. They try to make it sound hip to vote for Hillary because everyone in the entertainment industry is voting for her. It was a last minute attempt to try to influence voters. Even at the end of the skit they say, we can’t tell you who to vote for (wink, wink), but we know you will make the right decision.
