MASSACHUSETTS’ DISCRIMINATORY ‘EQUITY’ LAW SIGNALS A POT OF TROUBLE

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION MAY 11-13, 2018) — Do you belong to a group officially designated as a “minority?” Do you have a past conviction for drugs? Do you live in a low-rent neighborhood with high arrest rates for doping? Have you been previously jailed? Do you have a criminal record? Congratulations! You’re in luck. You live in Massachusetts.

You may have missed it, but motley crews of all types and “the armies of the road” will have a leg up on other entrepreneurs breaking into the now-legal, now lucrative cannabis business. Under a proposed law now bonging in that bastion of morality and corruption otherwise known as the Massachusetts Legislature, the druggies and muggies will be given a place at the finish line to ensure they win. How naïve of THE PLANET for thinking equal opportunity meant fair access into the race at the starting gate.

You likely missed the big news last month, when the Bastard Bastions on Beacon Hill rolled out what they call and “equity program” for the marijuana industry. No other state in the nation has such an unjustly discriminatory act.

Ah, Massachusetts, ah humanity.

The “equity” measure flies in the face of logic as well as market-based dynamics. It stands as THE PLANET‘s nominee for Worst Example of Moonbat Social Engineering. The envelope, please. The new measure:

* Gives law breakers and deadbeats a head start in what is an Oklahoma land rush for cah-cow marijuana licenses.

* Requires that every other company in the business of growing, processing, or selling cannabis must help their “competitors.”

* Limits the size of these other companies.

* Requires the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission to train the flunkies, who likely know as much about running a business as Judge Crater knows about Mapquest.

Behind it all is what The Boston Globe calls “a simple premise: People of color were disproportionately prosecuted and jailed amid the nation’s ‘war on drugs.'” Globe reporter Dan Adams quotes hypenated State Sen. Sonia Chang-Diaz: “We’re going to use this moment to try to rebalance the scales.”

Are you scared, yet?

Time and again, we’ve seen how such forced attempts at justice inevitable fail. They HAVE to fail for a variation of the simple reason given by narrated Nick to Jay Gatsby in Scott Fitzgerald’s great novel: “You can’t repeat the past.” In this case, Nick would be saying: “You can’t change the injustices of the past by meeting out ‘equity’ in the present.” In fact, this kind of social engineering has the opposite affect. Not only does it set up unqualified people to fail, it alienates others who unjustly must deal with discrimination — in this case, reverse discrimination based on skin color. It will ensure more race-based hatred. There are few things more odious.

Moreover, this “equity” javelin will pierce the wrong heart when it lands. By trying to right the wrongs of the past, it keeps that past alive in an unhealthy, obsessive way. This stirring up the sediment at the bottom curtails the honest efforts of good people to make progress in racial and economic matters. It dooms us to repeat the past rather than mend the present, in that way securing a harmful, repetitive future.

True equality must grow from seed in the human heart. The seed lies present in every person’s soul, to use a loaded word. You don’t grow healthy by planting a seed in poor ground and refusing it sunshine and water.

The divisions of race, gender, income, and any other distinction one may wish to make dissolve in the realization of our recent thought that all dichotomies are false. We are one. Misguided bureaucrats and aparatchiks such as the Chang-Diaz employ false dichotomies for the selfish gains that, sadly, such political triangulation reaps. Dichotomies be two. Triangulation be three. The third member in counterfeit social division — victims, in this case — be us, the ” you” and”me” out there who employ common sense and a healthy measure of ethics in the humble pursuit of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

We see through the type of “equity” discussed here, though too many among us have been beaten down by political correctness from speaking out. Fear, not “equality” — let alone love — provides the fuel that keep the likes of Chang Hyphen Diaz and state cannabis commissioner Shaleen Title (entitled) motoring.

We won’t have it. Though they try to force it down our throats or into our lungs, we won’t have it.

Have a great weekend, everybody.

Here is Tyer’s way of sticking it to Pittsfield because her toter plan was rejected.

In recent days, there have been discussions and questions on the City of Pittsfield’s trash and recycling regulations and enforcement.

It is first important to recognize that some of these conversations have stemmed from information included in a memo intended to assist the city’s trash vendor in their daily operations. The memo was adapted from an internal city document initially developed by the Department of Public Services & Utilities and the Health Department, as part of the city’s ongoing effort to manage its solid waste. While it contains information that is factual and supports existing solid waste policies in the city’s ordinance, it also references the city’s work around new enforcement and notification protocols, efforts that were publicly advocated for in the wake of the discussion around the proposed solid waste management plan.

As the new protocols, which went into effect mid-to-late April, are still in the “soft enforcement” phase, this means no residents have been ticketed by the Health Department. We acknowledge that an update to the community, prior to the start of enforcement, would have been beneficial and served to prepare citizens for compliance with existing regulations.

With that said, residents should be aware of the following protocols, implemented by the city’s trash vendor, which would include the use of stickers to explain why items were flagged for all noted mistakes, as well as non-collection of certain items.

The following are guidelines to support compliance:

• As a reminder, trash must be contained in a 32-gallon container with handles.
• Recycling placed in a bag, and not in the designated recycling container, would receive a sticker. Collection would not occur.
• 96-gallon containers would be stickered and collection would not occur.
• Trash contained in a 32-gallon receptacle weighing over 50 pounds (a limit identified in the interest of safety for sanitation workers), would receive a sticker explaining the violation. Collection would still occur in this case.
• Broken down furniture that can fit in a container will be collected; collection would not occur for pieces larger than what can fit in the container, unless it has a bulky waste sticker.
• Vehicle tires, in addition to other bulky items (that cannot fit into a 32-gallon trash receptacle), require a bulky waste sticker.
• When there is excessive trash (i.e. stemming from the departure from a residence, etc.) that generates six or more loose bags and other items in a single family residences, only trash that is placed in a trash container will be collected. A sticker will be placed on the remaining trash.
It is our hope that these guidelines will help to better inform residents and help them to be partners with us in this work.

The reason I started putting out just bags (double bagged) of trash was because the people picking it kept ruining the trash cans. They love the bags and hate the cans and it doubles their time.

So if I have a plastic clothes basket that is too big for the trash can I need to get a bulky waste sticker and pay for it? Seriously? There will be dozens of items like this and it will generate tens of thousands of extra dollars for the Vendor.

Dalton has a private pickup hauler option which should be an option in Pittsfield with proportionate tax dollars refunded to the resident using such a service. It may turn out to be much cheaper that the Tyerripyourassoff plan.

Too bad the mayor cannot be as heavy handed with school personnel as she is with the common tax payer.

by the way does Stanley get his trash picked up for free?

Consolidation of students only means good things for pittsfield Senior citizens have no more money Linda. We have no more money Taylor,White ,Kroll,Rivers……This is how gentrification is accomplished.
The gentrification Mayor and her supporters are never going to look at school budgets the way other cities do…..Pittsfield city councilors do not want business like efficient spending. The 4 year term was to remove the fear of removal if you changed things but this mayor moves a as if she has a 2 tear term afraid of ward 3 and 4 .Pittsfield needs change and this city council and mayor bring nothing to the table. We need critical thinkers in the mayors office .We also need a Superintendant that can do budgets for an impoverished Pittsfield

Progressive politicians are not critical thinkers and neither are their followers. That’s the problem. They are poor money managers. Their major policy is social engineering as Dan V. points out with the pot issue. They are not practical at all and it’s obvious why. Their heads up caught up in issues like let’s have sanctuary cities all over the country because we welcome anybody into our communities, even criminals, and we hate borders of any kind. They want to take care of illegal immigrants while ignoring the needs of people who have lived in this country all their lives. It’s all about votes to keep them in power. Pot is good because it keeps people docile.

They care about how many genders we have and worry about having dictators in our country while at the same time many on the far left want to take away all gun rights. There is just no practical thinking here. How can we be shocked that they have no financial skills?

President Trump got three hostages back and didn’t pay a cent of money to do it. Unlike previous administrations who would give outrageous amounts of money for the return of hostages. Yet Chuck Schumer has the nerve to say President Trump is setting a bad example by thanking the North Korean leader for returning the hostages in good health and how this sets a bad example. I think paying tons of money for the return of hostages sets a bad example.

Yes, likable is really all that matters and they don’t care if they have critical thinking skills. It’s all about the popularity for the Progressives. Critical thinking isn’t necessary anyway since they really don’t think for themselves. They just follow the herd and think like all the other Progressives. It’s called Group Think.

A word about the water project.

Art Seller
Art Seller

In the wake of the City Council’s approval of $75 million in upgrades at the sewage treatment plant, I felt compelled to write this letter.

In the mid-1980s, the city was poised to build a drinking water filtration plant for $150 million. At the same time construction of the world’s first sandfloat for drinking water clarification was being completed on Lenox Mountain. Dr. Milos Krofta posted the total cost of this facility to show the world that communities could build water filtration plants for half the cost of any other type of technology. At that I time I became worldwide marketing director and worked all over the world to introduce our sandfloat technology. While reviewing the engineering record, I found that the city of Pittsfield was under an EPA order to build a drinking water filtration plant.

I came to see then-DPW Commissioner Gerald Doyle Sr. and consultants Metcalf & Eddy Engineering and asked them if we could pilot our sandfloat technology as an alternative to technology they were suggesting. To make a long story short, they laughed at me.

I decided to go to Mayor Charles Smith and told him Kroftka could build the water plant and associated piping and pumping stations for $16 million. He asked how it could be possible to do this for $134 million less than the DPW director and his consultants said it would cost. I was persistent and he agreed to meet with me at the sandfloat treatment plant in Lenox. He was flabbergasted at the size of this plant, saying he had visited plants 10 times that size that processed the same amount of gallons per day as the Lenox plant.

He was convinced, and at my recommendation hired an engineer, Larry Forestall, to take over the project. To make a long story short, he, Krofka Engineering and O’Brien & Geer Engineering built the city two Krofta facilities that have been operating flawlessly for three decades, proof that the private and public sectors can work together successfully.

Fast forward to the present. After 2 1/2 years of my input, eight of 11 city councilors approved $75 million dollars for upgrades to the sewer treatment plant. I tried to tell them that this upgrade could have been done for between $30 million and $40 million. It was plainly evident by the questions they asked that only Councilors Mazzeo, Morandi and Connell understood what I was saying at the two Finance Committee meetings where I provided technical information that I had watered down so councilors could understand it.

I have talked with EPA officials who told me that they were not aware that the Clean Water Act which sets standards for the discharges into America’s waterways had been suspended. They were unaware that the Massachusetts loan program where municipalities can get loans at 2 percent interest on up to $50 million was ongoing.

Let’s not forget who we have to vote out of office and must put in office in 2019. I shall do all in my power to help the ratepayers and taxpayers so as not to get duped like the city is now, but it will take all of us being vigilant and standing up to incompetent elected officials and holding them accountable for every penny of tax dollars spent. This can be done and I will lead you. Craiq Gaetanii

You guys do know the money was appropriated last week and you will be paying triple what you pay now. you do Kow that right?

Maybe Barry can come on here and tell us exactly when this will happen and what kind of rate a one toilet would pay per quarter, presently, I pay 270″”””””””””Barry?-Mayor? Councilors Connell-Morandi-Mazzeo?

Who’s got the guts? And drinking water will double it!

Worrying about Chip Seal and Turkeys were the most calls Krol ever received, give this one a little time.

Wonder if the Senior Enter CyC flunky said anything to the home owning Seniors about the new rates, or was the Marquee the only thing of importance. Dan, tommorow is Mothers Day, hold off on telling Mom the new rate increase.

John Kerry should be charged with treason, and violating the Logan Act! Apparently he thinks he will be the Democratic nominee for President in 2020. Worst former Secretary of State ever.

A special thanks is in order for the new Super Citizen Igor Greenwald who filed an ethics complaint against a candidate for D A -stating uniformed Officers were at his campaign rally.

Also,Igor must have said something insensitive as a guest on the Krol Show, as his fill in host cut him off on a certain anti- establishment comment that hit a nerve onthe good ol boy taxpayer funded Bootlicker show. Good for you Igor!

Thank you Igor Greenwald for filing the ethics complaint with the state regarding the campaign of Paul Caccaviello. You would think the D.A. and police departments would know better. Way to hold them accountable!

The Obama administration was spying on the Trump campaign. This information is soon to be revealed. President Trump is a thorn in the side of the Obama and John Kerry agenda for one world corrupt government and they needed then and they need now to stop President Trump from slowing down their Socialist and some would even say Communist plans.

Pat, you are are victim of a massive disinformation campaign and to make it worse you are spreading this around which helps Russia and our enemies. Please pull yourself out of this rabbit hole of mind control and come back to us with an open mind.

I would not say this to Steven Dean because I do not care what happens to him. Like Jared Kushner, Steven is “disposable.”
