“ME-TOOing” OF BIDEN ANOTHER SHAMEFUL SMEAR ON THE BODY POLITICK

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION APRIL 5-7, 2019) — As a long-time philologist interested in comparative language, particularly as it pertains to English, a recent reference in the comment section of this board caught THE PLANET‘s attention. The writer, discussing Joe Biden, said he had been “me-too’d.” Use of this Twitter expression as a verb, far from indication a degradation of the language, tells us once again that English remains a flexible means of expression, especially with its sheer number of predicates. English, you see, is an action language. Unfortunately in this case, we have an action that in saner times would not rate a warrant.

Democratic politician Lucy Flores claims that Biden sniffed her hair and kissed the back of her head in 2014 while they were waiting to go on stage at a campaign event, one at which the former vice president generously donated his time to get Flores elected to dog catcher or some other office for which, short of being a minority female, she would likely be unqualified. Ah, but minority and female these days amount to “can’t touch this” status, an all but sure thing.

So what did the “horrified” and “shocked” Flores do about Biden’s innocent gesture of support? Nothing. For five years, she did nothing.

Now, with Biden about to declare a bid for the presidency, she decides to come clean. Of course, a stand-up person would have done a lot of things first before going on national TV with her laments. She would have told Biden right then and there she wasn’t comfortable with what he was doing. Okay, cut her some slack. They’re just about to go on stage. Maybe that wasn’t the time. But surely, sometime in the intervening half-decade, a forthright person would have (pick one or more):

  • Written a letter
  • Sent an e-mail
  • Made a phone call
  • Asked for meeting
  • Even better, did nothing …

… because nothing happened other than a kind man offering his support and encouragement to a newbie running for office.

She would have had the courtesy of communicating with Biden, especially after news of his presidential ambitions. But no, which causes the needle on the smell-o-meter to spike into the red zone. There’s something more behind this, and that “more” is a blatant attempt to derail Biden’s bid before it even starts. And brace yourself for a flood of pictures in which Biden is touching a woman in a manner than only a few months ago Desmond Morris and every other rational reader of body language would have praised as warm, friendly, affectionate, encouraging, supportive, embracing, inspiring, strengthening, and comforting — not in the least as predatory, sexual, or in any way indicative of bad intent.

THE PLANET doesn’t know Joe Biden, but we’ve been following him for years. We also know the testimony of those who do know him. He’s an open, friendly, hands-on guy. A throwback? Yes, but to a more enlightened, relaxed, and less uptight time, a time when social media didn’t exist didn’t arm every gadfly, troll, and character-wrecker with powers well beyond their maturity.

Fact is social media, technology, computers, the internet — call it what you will — has placed loaded AK-47s in the hands of mental teen-agers and “victims” who now want their book deals, their 15 minutes on “The View,” their hush money, their serial rights from The Enquirer.

Biden will survive these assaults because nothing remotely rising to the standard of “sexual assault” occurred. It’s time these liars stop using their hoo-hahs as stepping stones to selfish aggrandizement. “Victory” wreaths made of poison laurel confer no glory on the wearer and cause much damage to everyone else.

Go get ’em Joe.

Joe Biden is 77-years-old. He’d be the first 80-year-old U.S. President. Sarcasm: Maybe we should elect someone older than Joe Biden? How about someone in their 90’s instead?

Yes to Biden, because leadership has a learning curve. Too bad people here didn’t get that when they got duped by Bouvier, Krol, Tyer and the rest of Pittsfield’s clown show into voting in a junior lawyer with no superior court experience to lead the DA’s office.

If she doesn’t get rid the office of capeless Caccaviello loyalists , that are still covering up criminal activity, she will be unseated.

Suborning perjury in cromartie case, shows the willingness to violate civil rights, to persecute anyone they choose. Yet Harrington still hasn’t fired them.

I disagree. Put a fork in em, he’s done. Some of theae women may have ulterior motives, and of course we must believe all women because they are women. In many of these cases, there are photos. Althought it is not sexual assault it may qualify as a non sexual assault in some cases. Criminal or not, he’s a creepy dude, and it has never been acceptable to do what he’s been doing for years – squeezing shoulders of people he just met, rubbing noses, long hugs and sniffs. The guy is like a crazy uncle and he’s done, as well he should be. He may have been me too’d, but not withstanding the me too movement, a guy that can’t keep his head, hands, or nose to himself should never hold any job dealing with the public, regardless of his intent. Anybody with his history of touching, rubbing, and sniffing shouldn’t even get a job as a WalMart greeter, seriously!

Dan, I get your point about these women coming forward, years later, & accusing political figures of unwanted advances. The issues should have been dealt with at the time they happened. The worst case of this was Linda Ford during the Kavanaugh hearings.

However, I would agree with Johnny99’s comments, above.
Biden is too old, too corrupt and too creepy to be a candidate for president! Sure, he can run – but he can’t hide from his past sins, and I have no doubt that it would be an ugly & difficult campaign!

Doomie,

Fritz never mentioned party affiliation. Trump is a once in a million, an outlier for sure, and ironically it is precisely because Trump won that so many other nitwits, halfwits, and misfits think they can be president too now. Trump also helped spawn the me too movement. And it’s a heck of a lot easier to get re-elected than elected, as Landslide Linda is about to find out.

I am not a fan of Joe Biden, but it’s the phoniness of people like Mika this morning on Good Morning Joe that is so maddening. Mind you, I am only turning the channels when I heard this since I hate the show. These are all intelligent women she says of those accusing Joe, but the timing of this is just so suspect. Mika never questioned the motive of the woman coming forward after 40 years to accuse Kavanaugh of wanting to sexually assault her.

Mika has to be so careful not to offend women while at the same time putting down the women for wanting to get rid of Joe as a presidential candidate since it’s obvious that the far left wants a candidate who is chosen by them and is younger and even more radical.

Who are the people rallying in Pittsfield re the Mueller report talking to? Does anyone else find this extremely weird or embarrassing for these people? Is someone from Dept of Justice in town? Do they not have jobs …
Also, the last few posts on this blog have felt like big distractors and fodder for the right hand lunatic fringe. What gives?

Froggy,
To answer your question – those people in Park Square are angry Democrats upset that the Mueller investigation found NO evidence of Trump collusion with Russia. I agree, I think they are just embarrasing themselves…. but hey, it’s a free country and they have the right to demonstrate.

They don’t seem to understand that if a person is not charged with a crime, U.S. law prevents releasing info to make a case against the person in the court of public opinion. AG Barr is merely upholding the law.

The 2nd part of your comments is not very clear – can you better express your thoughts on the “right wing lunatics” being distractors?

Re second part of my comment – I meant that I can’t see how anyone except a right wing extremest can get indignant over plastic bag ban. It’s occurred in Pittsfield later than every other town and most of the smaller regional chains (Big Y, Guidos) are already complying for Lee, Lenox and Great Barrington. I drove behind a garbage truck and plastic bags were billowing out of the top and littering the road. Litter isn’t a left wing conspiracy.
It would be nice if we were a more reasonable bunch. Maybe starting with the protestors. I bet there are several literacy charities that could use volunteers with a lot of free time.

Re my last comments — I think sometimes Dan tries to provoke thoughts or make a point and I wasn’t sure if anyone could be actually mad about the plastic ban bag. Out of all the things government does that doesn’t seem so terrible but maybe I don’t get it. I can only imagine a really conservative anti government person getting upset about that.

Mr. Fritz
Mr. Fritz

To me the bag ban issue is more about 1) government limiting freedom of choice, and 2) common sense.

First, the common sense issue. Pittsfield incinerates its trash. The cheap plastic bags provided by stores, for free, eventually end up in the incinerator. The new “compostable” plastic bags, which cost 4x the price, will also end up in the incinerator. The price of the bags will be passed along to the consumer by charging more for the goods, or charging an outright fee for the bags. All this in order to be politically correct. If the city had a landfill, then this situation would make sense. But we don’t!

Now the issue of freedom of choice. As a frog, perhaps you are familiar with the analogy of the frog in the pot of water. The water temperature is increased slowly, the frog gradually gets used to the warming water, and before long the water is boiling and the frog is dead. The governmental banning of every little thing is a growing problem to me. Mayor Bloomberg wanted to ban 32 oz. sodas in NYC restaurants because of childhood obesity. An assemblywoman in the state of New York has introduced a bill to ban fur sales. Where does the government intrusion end?

Kermit Frog
Kermit Frog
Reply to  Mr. Fritz

I didnt like Bloomberg for banning smoking in NYC and now I don’t smoke, and know of se real people dead from lung cancer — so am glad that smoking is restricted.
As an amphibian, we are most susceptible to pollution. Frogs mean a good eco system. Clean water and air are good for humans too.
I didn’t know Pittsfield burns garbage. Do they burn plastic too? Is recycling dine just to make certain people feel better.
I would pay more for a King Kone that is a sensible portion size. Maybe the market can fix our complex problems but probably not all of them.

Sorry, but to me the #MeToo movement is now a big joke. It’s become a tool for many women to get their moment in the spotlight. If some of the things that happened made the “uncomfortable” and they didn’t say anything for five year, then I guess it wasn’t really that big a deal until they get that chance to see their names in print.

When I was 19 and in college working at a local manufacturer, as I was leaving at the end of my shift, I bent over at the water fountain for a drink. One of two older women walking in goosed me, and walked away laughing. OMG! I was so uncomfortable! It marred me for the rest of my life! I am going to hunt down who they were and sue their estates! NOT!

I’ve seen plenty of older men who have no lecherous intentions place their hands on a female coworker’s arm or hand or shoulder as either a gesture of friendship, concern, or sympathy. I’ve also seen plenty of women do the same.

Sorry, but when it comes to #MeToo, I’m not buying into it these days. If it didn’t bother you five, ten, fifteen or more years ago, but suddenly you might get attention or a buck or two, a hand on your shoulder is more traumatic than when your brother set your hamster on fire? RIGHTtttttt!

If the woman who goosed you ever runs for office the Democratic Party will be reaching out to you and ask (coerce or pay) you to share your horrific story. They’ll even pay for your lawyer (Avenetti if he’s not in prison) and help you write a book. You may even get your own movie on OWN. There should have been a task force formed for this very reason, several years ago. Pittsfield’s always a day late and a dollar short. The Me Too movement has morphed into portraying women as delicate flowers who are so fragile that we simply can’t handle any kind of male attention. It seems that we are going back in time to the Victorian age where women needed smelling salts to revive them. College campuses need safe spaces to protect college students from each other. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Two men are facing murder charges in the death of 18-year-old Jaden Salois of Dalton.

Carlos Pascual-Polanco, 18, and Chiry Omar Pascual-Polanco, 22, both of Pittsfield were arraigned on murder charges on Friday related the shooting on Edward Avenue shooting of Salois.

Police discovered Salois outside a home on Edward, near the Elm Street intersection, in the early hours of Jan. 20. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The alleged killers are being held without bail. First Assistant District Attorney Karen Bell is prosecuting the case.

“The Berkshire District Attorney’s Office was able to bring these charges thanks to the hard work and professionalism of the Pittsfield Police Department and State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office,” District Attorney Andrea Harrington said in a statement released on Friday.

“We worked closely with law enforcement on this case. The District Attorney’s Office sends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Salois.”

Harrington showcased her vast management experience Friday by corralling her staff to let them know she was firing a perfectly good victim advocate – while the employee cleaned out her desk. Maximizing the trauma, no warning, zero dignity. Aside from being a disgraceful way to manage any office, can you say wrongful termination?

Hi Aerin,
How do you know it was a perfectly good victim’s advocate? I mean, maybe it was someone who deserved to be fired. That happens in our world sometimes. What makes you say it was wrongful termination? If it in fact was wrongful termination then I agree it should be looked into. Nobody is above the law not even a DA. But how can we know? Maybe it was someone who was incompetent or had little experience and made serious errors. I don’t see how you can judge Harrington on this with so few facts, that’s my main point. L.

An experienced victim’s advocate was fired because she called out mistakes as she saw them? Yeah, I’m sure that’s exactly what happened. Please. I don’t think I’ll just take the word of someone with such an obvious axe to grind. L.

As Johnny99 said, after the Civic Authority vote was defeated, it set the stage so that the taxpayers of this city will never again have the right to vote on anything of importance to them.

Building Taconic without voter approval was an outrage! And we have yet to see what the cost will do to our tax rate.

What is the holdup on the taxes for Taconic? The school is up and running. What are they waiting for? Until after the election?

Anyone out there know when we will find out? Barry?

Hello Spider, from what I understand, the lovely Linda Tyer’s Matt Kerwood chose to make interest only payments on the bond for the new Taconic High School. I don’t know when they will begin to make principal and interest payments? When they do make prinicipal and interests payments, then it will increase your municipal tax bill.

Spider,

Here is a link to an I Berkshire article about our 18 cents per week tax cut this fiscal year:

https://www.iberkshires.com/story/58714/Pittsfield-Council-Approves-Tax-Rate-Cut.html

This is the last paragraph – “Director of Finance Matthew Kerwood said there is no big hit on the way. He said $40 million of the $46 million the city is expected to pay for the school has already been bonded and is included in the budget. He said the debt for the school has been structured so that the biggest hit comes in 2021, at the same time debt expires from school projects 20 years ago so it balances out. He said his goal has been to keep the city’s debt balanced as projects come on and off the city’s budget.” This leaves lots of questions unanswered, and of course they weren’t even asked by the councilors or reporters.

Pittsfield will become financially insolvent sometime in the 2020’s decade! Matt Kerwood’s interest only debt payments only defers the future tax increases, while the tax base continues to diminish. Pittsfield politics is a case study of financial mismanagement! The hundreds of millions of dollars in debts/liabilities will never be paid off in our lifetimes! But, the lovely Linda Tyer gave the median property taxpayer a 2-cents per day tax cut on paper this fiscal year. What a joke!

Tried to run a few errands in Dynamic Vibrant Pittsfield today. It is tough enough driving around the city dodging pot holes that we are suppose to have patience waiting for City Hall to repair, but what about the out of control traffic issues. People are speeding, running red lights, tailgating, pedestrians J walking, cars passing on the right, swerving over the center line and not a Pittsfield Police car to be found. I thought the Mayor stated she had formed a Traffic Bureau, anyone know if this is true, or is it another lie from the corner office?

Johnny Absurd

She promised a traffic bureau and then hired additional police to fill those slots. If they are out there they are well hidden because traffic violations are thousands per day in Pittsfield. Must be more fun writing up the accidents caused by the people who think there are no more rules on the road. And yah it does seem that way in Pittsfield.

Took at look at the City of Pittsfield website. The Pittsfield Police section still has Officer Coco as the go to pro for proper installation of child car seats. Citizens must have had to drive to his prison cell to have the seats checked (sarcasm). This verifies my thoughts that Tyer has not staffed the Traffic Bureau as promised.

Now that the vested interests in the Dalton region passed the new WRHS project, will the Berkshire Eagle follow up on their call for Adam Hinds, Smitty Pignatelli, Tricia Farley-Bouvier, Paul Marx, and John Barrett III to protect the vulnerable fixed income taxpayers who will be paying hundreds of dollars more for the 30 year duration of the bond? How will the aforementioned do nothing Berkshire Legislators protect these people who choose between paying their taxes or eating food? Will they ever break from their unanimous votes for Speaker for life Bob DeLeo’s special interest legislation to actually do something constructive for a change? What about Congressman Richie Neal, who this past week started a multi-million dollar legal battle to see Trump’s tax returns….in 2025! Will Richie Neal protect the hard hit vulnerable taxpayers? What about Elizabeth Warren? But she is too busy running a long-shot run for the White House. What about Ed Markey? I understand he really lives in another state that borders Washington, D.C. What about Trump? But he only cares about the billionaires. The Eagle really knows that no one will protect the vulnerable taxpayers from big tax increases. The vested interests are the real winners, once again!

Perhaps more people could afford the Eagle if they did not have to pay such high taxes, like the ones the Eagle always seems to push for in their OP EDS. Plus, as a customer do I want to support a publication that seems to strongly support political and special interest agendas to my own personal detriment?

While this newspaper is a much improved version of its predecessor it seems to still be a political tool. My opinion.

Charlie Baker and District Attorney of Suffolk County Rachael Rollins are battling over the same issues we have here in Berkshire County with our new District Attorney who is supported by Linda Tyer. Going easy on drug crimes is very frightening and lowering the bar for crimes only leads to even more crimes. We voted for Linda Tyer to combat serious crime in Berkshire County and she did hire additional police, but then put her support behind a District Attorney who is not tough on drug crimes. Rachael Rollins doesn’t believe that everyone is equal under the law and this is the path that Progressives are heading down.

Rachael Rollins claims that the people who voted for her want her to go easy on so-called low level crimes.

The new DA in Philly is much the same.
