POP-POP, THUMP-THUMP … 12 HOURS … EL PASO-DAYTON … SOULS CRINGE AND PLOT

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY AUG. 5, 2019) — Pop-pop-pop-pop-poppoppopopopop. Thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thumpthumpthumpthump.

And just like that, in just 12 hours and an action-time of maybe five minutes in the United States of Amnesia, 29 innocent people were gunned down and 52 shot and wounded. Pop, pop … fizz, fizz … oh what a drag it is.

Now two more American cities will never be the same. El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio can speak together the thoughts expressed by Dayton mayor Nan Raley when she said, “What really goes through my mind is how this is completely preventable. When is ‘enough’ enough?” The answer to her question, evidently, is “never.” As to her first observation, mayor Raley is correct. Mass murder is “completely preventable,” though not in the way she suggests. Society will never succeed in preventing these insane acts by piling new laws on top of a garbage heap of existing legislation that obviously has failed.

THE PLANET gets the knee-jerk reaction of politicians after events such as these to call for more “gun control,” and there’s been a flood of that. But there’s always a “but,” and the however here is that gun control has no relation to arms manufacturing. From August 2018 to present, the small arms and ordnance market in the U.S. has risen 123% (gov.tribe.com). Restrictive gun laws simply drive weapons underground, with the Dark Web making it easy for would-be killers (nearly always young and male with high degrees of computer sophistication) to get their pieces. Even if one were to call upon Don Herbert magically vaporize the nearly 500 companies making these devices, there would still be an overflow of available pieces for sale. Jeannie is out of the bottle, and the bullets are out of the barrels.

So how can we say mayor Raley’s observation is correct?

Go inward, young man.

The answer lies in the human heart.

Look inside these mass murderers, and you will find dysfunction of the highest order ranging from absentee parents, failed schools that just passed them along to the next grade, lack of discipline, no moral or ethical training, heavy computer use (violent video games, extreme web sites, virulent social media), and a lack of character (talk to them about the freedom/responsibility see-saw, and they zone out). As long as society enables the raising of these kinds of kids, expect many more El Pasos and Daytons. In fact, as the Carpenters sang, “We’ve Only Just Begun.”

Research shows that 99.9875 of the murderers are single shooters. Loners. More than 95% are male (the vast majority under 35), with 70% of these shootings taking place in or around schools or businesses. Here’s THE PLANET‘s surefire solution:

  • Issue shoot-to-kill orders on all men under 30 years old found in public, day or night, 24/7.
  • Forbid young men to set foot in a school or marketplace.

Voila! The problem goes away.

Our plan makes much more sense than the politicians who jumped on El-Paso-Dayton, sensing a political opportunity — particularly the Democrat hope(less)fuls running for president. Beto O’Rourke, an El Paso native, was first to jump, then Pete Buttigieg. All of them piped in after that, all saying the same thing: “Blah blah blah-blah blah.”

President Trump, consoler in chief, did his required bit as well. He condemned the actions as acts of cowardice: “I know I stand with everyone” in condemning the shootings. “There are no reasons … that justify the killing of innocent people.”

All good people must agree with this.

“Seen all good people turn their heads each day so satisfied I’m on my way.”

What else is there to say?

John,

So how would you reconcile that the Dayton shooter was an: avowed Socialist, Satanist, and Liz Warren supporter?

(Twitter took down his account but the genie is already out of the bottle)

Blame Trump? Blame the gun?

Blame everyone except the demented murderer!

“More information is being reported on Connor Betts, 24, the deceased gunman who shot and killed nine people and wounded 27 others in a mass shooting early Sunday morning.

A Twitter account appearing to belong to Betts showed he supported socialist causes and was a supporter of presidential candidate Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, according to Heavy. ”

“Betts’ reported beliefs are different than those tied to the mass shooter who attacked a Walmart in El Paso hours before. In a manifesto that was linked to him, he wrote that he wanted to stop the “Hispanic invasion of Texas,” but also adds his bigoted beliefs “predate Trump and his campaign.” “

Johnny, Leftist Connor Betts is as Absurd as You.

His twitter account is complete with pictures, rants, and raves. Twitter has taken it down, but not before news outlets got to it.

One of the people he murdered, was his sister.

“On social media, the suspect’s biography started to emerge. On his Twitter page, reviewed by Heavy, he described himself as “he/him / anime fan / metalhead / leftist / i’m going to hell and i’m not coming back.” He wrote on Twitter that he would happily vote for Democrat Elizabeth Warren, praised Satan, was upset about the 2016 presidential election results, and added, “I want socialism, and i’ll not wait for the idiots to finally come round to understanding.” The Greene County Board of Elections lists his party as “Dem.” You can read a roundup of his tweets – which also dealt with Parkland, Florida and 9/11 – here and later in this article. Here’s his tweet on Donald Trump’s election victory” :

Meanwhile, Joe Biden is falling into deeper state dementia:

” Former Vice President Joe Biden misstated the locations of mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, while speaking to donors at a high-dollar fundraiser in San Diego on Sunday night.

Biden, 76, mistakenly referred to the shootings as “the tragic events in Houston today and also in Michigan the day before,” but later corrected himself, according to a pool report. Biden seemingly confused Houston for El Paso and Michigan for Ohio when speaking to donors about the shootings. ”

1) I agree with Dan that there’s a problem with our hearts and souls.
2) We treat each other like dirt and use social media to attack each other and spread false information because we can and it’s anonymous.
3) I am the FORMER owner of a Colt AR16, the sport version of the military M16. It was originally designed for use in Vietnam and for killing as many humans as possible. It was utterly useless for hunting. I also owned at the time multiple rifles and my end choice for hunting always ended at a bolt action rifle on the premise that I need to be a good enough shot to bring down an animal with a single round when hunting.
4) From my experience with owning an assault rifle, it served no other purpose than to look cool with your buds and to somehow stimulate your testosterone. It did neither, and at some point my interests shifted and I sold it and all my pistols. FYI, if you want to wear camo and pack an assault rifle, enlist.

My solution? You’ll all hate it. A law banning assault rifles. The law will provide for a government buyback of all assault rifles. Possession of an assault rifle will trigger mandatory jail time. Use in a crime will trigger a lifetime jail sentence, and if a death occurs from its use, execution. The new law will also have a provision protecting ownership of all non-assault weapons. In addition, if you’re a gun owner and you are diagnosed with certain categories of behavioral health conditions, your guns will be temporarily confiscated.

BTW, you might ask how you can track dangerous mental health diagnoses. Easy. Your electronic health records contains all your medical diagnoses and can be tracked by the government. FYI, if you’re on Medicare, the government already looks at those records for audit purposes.

It really is time that ‘enough’ is enough. I’m not blaming any politician, political group, or any one person. Bottomline is that it’s time we have the courage to do something. Every day, we surrender some individual right for the good of society. It’s time the right to own assault rifles becomes one of these rights that goes bye-bye.

No mother should ever again lose her life at the hands of someone packing an assault rifle while laying on top of her 2-year-old daughter as a human shield. If you think that’s okay, you have a serious problem.

It does not fit their agenda, so they choose to ignore it, and the roots of their failed liberal social engineering.

And in Texas, specifically El Paso, at the very scene of the latest attack, you had licensed gun owners packing pistols. How well did that work out? How is it that Great Britain has strict gun control, people do own licensed firearms, and their murder rate using guns is so low?

It is the height of arrogance for any American to argue that we need assault rifles. It is becoming increasingly apparent that we lack the mental or emotional capacity to be responsible.

Conservatives are as guilty of societal engineering – voter suppression, gerrymandering, cutting education and healthcare funds.

This is about all of us regardless of which way we lean. Or are we just too stubborn and stupid to pull together and finally do something?

Assault Rifle is a fake news term. For a rifle to be a assault rifle it would need to have automatic capability. Since 1935 fully automatic firearms have been restricted severly.

2nd amendment is not about hunting. It protects the God given right to protect oneself and against a tyrannical government.

AR-15 rifles make fine hunting rifles and in fact are used by many. It functions no different than any semi-automatic hunting rifle. It is quite handy for multiple targets such as coyotes or feral hogs. The fact you state “it is utterly useless for hunting” proves you are ignorant of firearms or have a political bias.

The AR-15 is also quite useful to those who choose to defend themselves against criminals. The left winged MSM ignores these incidents as it does not fit their stated agenda of gun confiscation of ALL firearms. If you don’t like that, get a Constitutional Convention together and try to repeal the 2nd amendment.

“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

― Benjamin Franklin

Liberal social engineering has been at work in our school systems for decades. It has produced this generation of crazies who perpetrate these mass murders. The same weapons were present in the 1960s, yet we did not have this carnage. It is not the guns, it’s the sick people that have no qualms about murdering.

To quote yourself: “It is becoming increasingly apparent that we lack the mental or emotional capacity to be responsible.” I’ll correct that: It is becoming increasingly apparent that the children we are currently raising lack the mental or emotional capacity to be responsible.

There is no such gun as an AR16.

The AR15 style rifle is the most popular sporting rifle in the U.S. And is used for hunting.

More people are killed with blunt objects than with all rifle types combined. That means hammers and Louisville sluggers are more likely to be used to murder you than ANY type of rifle.

100 round magazines are scary to some but they are very unreliable in an AR. They will constantly malfunction. They are looked at as a novelty in the firearms community.

“No mother should ever again lose her life at the hands of someone packing an assault rifle while laying on top of her 2-year-old daughter as a human shield.”

Is that such a bad way to die? Plenty of mothers back up over their kids, bake them in cars, or kill themselves and the kids because they are checking their cellphones. A lesbian couple drove a car off a cliff filled with 6 adopted kids, you don’t have a solution for that because you don’t really care, you just watched a news episode and are reliving it like it’s a movie.

We have to be careful about beginning to ban any guns since it can be the beginning of banning all guns. We don’t live in normal times in which people think logically and sensibly. Instead we have a far left party with a goal of removing all guns from the general public while at the same time they want to give government more and more power over our lives.

Socialist countries always make it their goal to have total control just like Venezuela confiscated all guns from their citizens in 2012. Now the people of that country are at the mercy of a tyrannical government.

Truthsayer, I wholeheartedly agree with your post.

A ban on assault weapons does not have to equal a ban on all guns.

The incidences of domestic terrorism by creepy white guys will never end until there is an inability to carry it out. These mass murders will never stop until we take away or severely limit a person’s ability to murders tens or hundreds of people in a swift matter of minutes.

Laws, society, parents, schools, doctors, etc will never fix the human condition that makes these people psychopaths. But we can take away their access to mass murdering weapons. We can and we should. It shouldn’t be a political or constitutional discussion. It is purely a matter of public safety.

Pat, I agree – criminals know how to get guns. Regular weirdos who live on the internet in their mom’s basement, probably not as much.

MadTrapper – it’s the truth. The perpetrators of these crimes are primarily white males with questionable social and familial identities. Yes, my statement aims to give knee-jerk reaction with a blatant stereotype, but it’s nearly the truth in the history of modern mass shootings.

There is a HUGE difference between the ease of someone to walk into a WalMart with an assault rifle and murder 20 people and the ability of someone to kill masses of people in any other comparable way. The comparison is silly really.

You can’t just hijack a plane.

Building a bomb takes research, and intelligence, and planning, and precise execution.

A car or other motor vehicle most likely does not have the ability to take out 20 people in one fell swoop.

A person can douse something in gasoline but again, a death toll of equal magnitude is unlikely. People can get out of burning buildings. They cannot dodge rapid fire bullets.

Yes, anyone with the wherewith-all to commit mass murder will get it done. But I firmly believe that if there was no easy access to mass murdering, quick-fire weapons, many of them would not have the means or sense to do it afterall. There is no doubt that more people would be still alive today.

Universal background checks seems to be a step in the right direction as far as gun control is concerned. However, it’s obvious that this is a complicated problem that requires complex solutions.

“So let us begin anew — remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate. Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which divide us.”- JFK

Dan, Good post but closer to home, this letter points out how Harrington’s office is clearly focused on politics, rather than the office’s business. The writer doesn’t realize this group was founded by Harrington not just endorsed two candidates inside her office, along with Tyer. Does anyone have a problem with a DA’s office focusing on politics? How about obfuscating the truth? Isn’t it against the law for a public employee to run a fundraising election campaign anyway? This is going on inside our DA’s office.

Letter: Election endorsements lacking credibility
Posted Sunday, August 4, 2019 11:57 am
To the editor:

You can usually tell the credibility and value of an endorsement from a political group by using a little deductive reasoning. It didn’t take very much to evaluate the recent endorsement of four women candidates in Pittsfield by the Berkshire Chapter of the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus.

You start out with the fact that the endorsement is released prior to the final date for candidates to enter the race. This means that the “decision” was made before all of the candidates had been determined

Then you consider the fact that the district attorney’s family business has a lawn sign for Mayor Linda Tyer, one of those endorsed, in West Stockbridge. What does this have to do with anything, you ask? Well, the chairperson of this group, and of course another one of their endorsement recipients, is the district attorney’s campaign manager and now “director of special projects,” Helen Moon. The icing on the cake is that a third endorsement recipient is another employee of the district attorney’s office, Dina Guiel. So it is no surprise that this group endorses the choice of the district attorney.

What’s most troubling is that this is an historic time in Pittsfield. It is the first time that three women have sought the mayor’s position, the other two being long-time Councilor at large Melissa Mazzeo and retired Pittsfield police officer Karen Kalinowsky. Were these two candidates even considered? The final nail in the coffin for these questionable endorsements is that they did not choose either of the women running for School Committee, an equally important elected office in the city.

These political endorsements are not worth the paper or Facebook posting they are printed on.

Pittsfield

“…….your rifle is only a tool. It is a hard heart that kills.” This sums up mass shootings, courtesy of Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in Full Metal Jacket, 1987.
Mass shootings with firearms go back years, about 40. Right after the end of WWII and the early years of Korea. A “Mass Shooting” is variously described as 3 or more Victims of a perp(s) at app the same time.
The number of victims is appalling; however, according to recent news accounts, there has been 1 homicide per day in Baltimore and 7 shooting homicides per day in Chicago (that great City with the toughest guns laws in the country). So, in one month in Baltimore, there were as many homicides as Dayton and El Paso combined and in Chicago there were about 7 per day for a Dayton/El Paso total in 4 days!
Now this is just by firearms, handguns being the preferred weapon of choice, the smallest caliber being a .22, responsible for 13 deaths in Seattle, WA in 1983. BTW, a .22 is smaller than a .223, with less velocity and mass.
In not one of these incidents did the firearm jump out of a drawer or fall off a shelf. It was deliberately and unlawfully picked up, loaded, put into battery and the trigger pulled by a human being, killing another. More than likely not by an NRA member, either.
The number of firearms in the United States cannot be accurately calculated. The number of LEGALLY owned firearms can be estimated by ATF records. There are souvenirs of WWI, WWII & Korea, both U.S. made and foreign, smuggled firearms and unreported stolen or unregistered firearms. The number of criminals with access to firearms is obviously an unknown quantity.
(As far as the ATF goes, they got USBP Agent Brian Terry killed in one of their botched attempts to monitor firearms LEAVING the country. It bit them in the ass when one resurfaced back into the U.S. and was used in a homicide, in 2010, of a LEO by an illegal.)
The number of mentally ill persons in the United States with access to firearms cannot be remotely calculated because of HIPPA laws. Relaxing patient/doctor confidentiality may, in fact reduce the number of people who could be licensed to purchase and carry but it wouldn’t eliminate it and doing a full and comprehensive background check going back to school records, which may or may not reveal “hit lists” or other triggers would overwhelm the licensing system.
If somebody wants a firearm, they are going to get it. It’s not rocket science. It’s easier than purchasing drugs on a street corner or buying a car! To make matters worse, gangster’s loan or even rent handguns for money or drugs!
As far as using a vehicle, there have been over 30 vehicle ramming attacks on people world-wide since 1973.
Bombings, 10 mass bombings since 1886, not counting the Twin Tower air attack.
Sure, England has banned firearms and now they are trying to get edged weapons off the street as we speak.
Comparatively speaking, motor vehicle crashes in the U.S. kill app 102 persons per day. That’s less than the Dayton/El Paso massacre. Let that sink in!
The answer? There is none. Killers will kill, people will die, legislators will promise the world.
It’s like trying to put a band aid on a cancer.
Pray if you must, hold vigils, have protests if it makes you feel better but It’s out of your, my and the President’s control!
Be vigilant, be observant, be armed if you can and be careful and never say “It can’t happen here or to me.”

Not to ruin everyone ‘s fun but did the city start filling in the GE cistern? If so who’s doing the work? How much will it cost? Did the labor and materials go out to bid? The eagle reported that it’s 30 feet deep and 100 feet by 100 feet. That’s a lot of fill. Can the mayor just spend money for this project without council approval?
Can anyone answer these questions? Pittsfield took possession of this concrete lined hole long ago. Who was stupid enough to take it from GE without making GE restore it? What were they thinking? What possible use did it have?

Blame ex-Mayor Doyle, Devillars from the EPA, and Jack Welch.

I’ll wager there is a large plume of PCBs from the cristern, the city now owns they are sweeping under the rug.

I won’t pay for The Left Winged Parrot. Where is this hole located?

GE built it about 100 years ago to have water for fire protection. They pumped water from Silver Lake and stored it in the cistern in case of a fire. I think when the city improved its water delivery system GE stopped using the cistern and somehow the city ended up with it. This was before Doyle and Welch. 40s or 50s maybe early 60s. If anyone can pin dow the dates please reply

“GE built it about 100 years ago to have water for fire protection.”

Would that be when they lit the toxins floating on Silver Lake on fire?

GE pumped Silver Lake full of many toxins. Wherever that water ended up is a toxic waste site.

Thanks Gerry Doyle!!!!!

Do you remember ~20 years ago, there was a local paper just glowing about how Pittsfield should accept the consent decree from the crooked Devillars of the EPA?

Devillars got a cushy job from GE. Neutron Jack Welch was happy . And Pittsfield/Berkshire County got screwed!

The newspaper simply lost all remaining integrity and semblance of journalism. Words that describe it now are boring, bird, and parrot.

Does anyone believe what they print now?

Excellent questions but I doubt that is public information sir. Mr. Shakes would suggest you file an FOIA or just stop being so nosy. The mayor has it under control. Her control. Or her handlers control, whatever.

Someone is gonna make a buck or two and you gonna pay for it but don’t be getting curious about whose pockets the dough will land in.

Unlike the cowards of broward hiding at parkland school massacre .

Very troubling that it seems there were indicators, which went ignored. This like parkland seem preventable, like Simons rock

Here is a link to shootings in Chicago alone this year. Many would qualify for mass shootings. Not sure what type of firearm was used in these shootings, probably hand guns.

What you have in the city is the Peda Alamo effect, what you do is surround the real danger (PEDA) site with toxix attractions like the Housy River,Silver Fake,King Kong street dump, and failing-dale skool toxic mountain. ThIs should make you forget about anything that will be filled in at the mega acre gulag.

Compensation for political and school personnel in Pittsfield is upscale for sure. The power structure rules.
The residents of Pittsfield are robbed from every possible angle. There is no beating the way this legalized thievery is set up. Smart people with the means leave. It is that simple. If you have a choice you owe it to yourself and family to check out your residential options in other places.

55 shootings this weekend in Chicago, mostly black on black, 1600 shot this year, mostly black, hundreds murdered by gun.

Who cares?

Wheres the Black Lies Matter Fools?

Why doesn’t Obama go back where he came from and try and fix Chicago instead of criticise Trump – Obama had 8 years and did nothing to reduce gun violence and in-face you could argue he set race relations back years, and set the stage for a nut job like Trump to get elected. Obama was the true racist no Trump.

Russian interference in our elections began during the Obama years when Obama was promising the Russians he would have more flexibility after the elections when he didn’t realize he was whispering on a hot mic. Flexibility for what has never been answered and should be in light of Russia running wild during the Obama years.

Just because all legal actions are flawed doesn’t mean we can’t change the probability of deaths by guns. The first step is to recognize that most gun deaths are suicides, not mass shootings. Suicides can be reduced, especially by gun dealers, most (all?) of whom do not want to sell to people who will kill themselves. More back ground checks are clearly needed but these checks would not have affected most mass shootings. What might affect them is to heavily tax ammunition. The young men who shoot are not well off financially. If a 223 round cost a civilian $10 per round, they might not be able to afford the magazines full of ammo. Many years ago my Dad told me you could get a Thompson submachine gun in a Sears Catalog but it cost as much as a car. The second amendment says we have the right to bear arms, it says nothing about their cost.

My friends and i used to play soldier at that place in the ’60;s.. It was so cool! An elevated place and a man hole to crawl into then shoot your enemies when they came after you! You didn’t crawl too far into the tunnel on the lower East part, there were worms growing off the side and then the 4′ tube just dropped vertical! Some kids even fired off .22’s inside the vault and the “ping ping” was scary but awesome! NOBODY EVER GOT HURT! Now a kid falls down a hole and the world comes apart………JHC!
