WELCOME TO TES’ WATER WORLD: WATER DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE SPEAKS OUT AGAINST ‘BULLYING’ … MAYOR’S BROW-BEATING STYLE TRICKLES DOWN

PLANET VALENTI News and Commentary

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 10, 2014) — Water, water everywhere, and not a drop for taxpayers. We might call this the latest episode in “TES: Water on the Brain.” (An aside: If you see The Worried Man, a.k.a., The MOP [The Mayor of Pittsfield] today, ask him how well the robocalls he made for his buddy Steve Grossman and Warren Tollman worked out for the two losers).

Like water, poor leadership runs downhill. When not treated and filtered by accountability and oversight, it pollutes the reservoirs. Welcome to that great dysenteric water slide known as TES’ Pittsfield.

A Toxic, TES-Created Atmosphere

First, we have the situation regarding The Empty Suit‘s shabby treatment of Craig Gaetani, co-designer and builder along with Dr. Lawrence K. Wang of the Krofta-teched Cleveland water treatment facility in Hinsdale, which supplies the city’s drinking water. Gaetani and Dr. Wang are partners in a company they say can bring the Pittsfield sewage treatment facility off Holmes Road into federal compliance with savings of tens of millions of dollars over the up-to-$80 million the mayor wants to pay. One would think the CEO of the city, sworn fiduciary duties, would at least want to listen.  Any intelligent person would offer a fair hearing.

However, when Gaetani went to pitch his idea to the mayor, he received the TES Treatment (TEST). TEST involves a histrionic performance of mayoral screaming, finger-jabbing, bullying, and invasion of personal space. Many people have publicly claimed taking the TEST, including Medford businesswoman Doreen Wade, Gaetani, former city veterans’ agent Rosanne Frieri, and former city director of administrative services Mary McGinnis. Moreover, two current city employees have shared with THE PLANET their stories of similar abuse. They have yet to go public out of fear for their jobs.

Such is the toxic atmosphere created by this mayor.

Second in THE PLANET’s version of Handel‘s Water Music is the testimony of another current city employee city. He asked that his name be withheld, but he wanted THE PLANET to publish his story so citizens and taxpayers can know more of what it’s like to be working under the present mayor.

‘This Has Led to People Reaching Breaking Points and Losing Their Jobs’

Here is what he said:

I am a Wastewater employee here in Pittsfield. I just wanted to bring something to your attention. Every year we get 1% raises. I make less now after this past year’s raise with the insurance increases than before my raise. This is the norm working for this city. We are the second lowest paid municipality in the state of massachusetts.

I was just informed of a new job posting for commissioner of public services. This is not a job where someone has quit or retired. This is a brand new job created. It’s starting salary is $85,000 a year. This new job description outlines many tasks that Mr. [Bruce] Collingwood is currently doing. As far as I know he and the previous commissioner have always had these responsibilities. There have been talks in city hall about how many managers including Collingwood are “over worked” and “under payed.” Recently 25 managers and city hall employees just got considerable pay raises. Some between 25-40%. This includes commissioner Collingwood.

So my question to you is if Collingwood’s work load and responsibilities are being cut in half, then why is his pay being increased considerably? The city lawyer has yet again offered us scraps as far as wages are concerned stating that the city has no money. That’s funny seeing how all these “overworked managers” just got huge raises and the city can afford to make up new positions that pay $85,000 dollars a year to start.

I worked private construction before coming to the city. I can tell you that most of these city managers would not last one day in the field in the private sector. For they would have to do work, and if they ever treated employees like they treat people working for the city, they would be settling their differences in the parking lot after work. I am not an advocate of violence by any means. But being protected by the municipality and its laws, many managers bully certain workers. They pick a target and stay on them. This has led to people reaching breaking points and losing their jobs. This would not happen in private construction. I appreciate you educating the public on issues that you would never hear about in other news outlets or media.
——– 000 ——–
There’s not much to add to this testimony. THE PLANET will let the words speak for themselves. One final point needs to be made, though. THE PLANET has heard from other city employees in other departments (school, police, etc.) expressing similar stories. We routinely hear about the “poisonous culture” TES has created with his bullying style, which has spilled down and infected other managers and “leaders.” TES’ management style has been a cancer on the body politic. The consequences of this unfortunate development over 2.5 years have washed up on the shore of Taxpayer Beach, as poor taxpayers have had to bear the brunt of the mayor’s mismanagement.

For this reason, the man currently pretending to be mayor — who currently works for a private energy company … who wants to present a buddy with the gift of 40 percent of city hall as a rental — will not be seeking re-election. You read it here first.

We The People have won at least that small victory.

The real fight will come in the 2015 city elections. Literally, they represent the final chance for citizens to stop The Suits from killing a city we all love.

I would like to know who Mr Bianchi will be endorsing in November so that I can start filling out my vote card.

Hopefully this move to 100 North St. will be stopped and Ms. Frieri wins her suit against this Mayor. Would be nice to see her win a substantial amount of his personal money also. Even recalled before he does too much more damage to the city.

Perhaps the next Mayor will use the people’s money much more wisely. Maybe even cut taxes giving the taxpayers much needed relief while still providing needed services to the people instead of his friends.

It is good news that this Mayor will not seek reelection and that his reign of terror will come to an end.

Perhaps he crunched the numbers and realized that the city of Pittsfield IS going to go bankrupt and he does not want to be sitting in the corner office when the shit hits the fan.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Doreen Wade is NOT a businesswoman. She should not be characterized as such.

The great thing about the internet is you can work from anywhere in the world. I still don’t understand why she needed city hall’s help to move her computer here.

Also, if the Mayor refuses to listen to Gaetani, why doesn’t he just sidestep his office and write up the proposal himself? It can be read by the public, and vetted by other experts if need be. He has these ideas, why not share them openly?

Why isn’t Doreen Wade a businesswoman? She ran/runs a newspaper for black community in Medford. Doesn’t that make her a “Medford businesswoman.”
But to topic of today if you take all the mismanagement in the city and could miraculously change it overnight to good management we would have better morale more productivity and great cost savings.
Too many managers, dept heads etc. who have belief they are above the law, that anything they do goes … price of no accountability. Mr. Bianchi’s tenure, or his legacy I should say.

All I see is a hobby.

Just because Bianchi’s doing a terrible job doesn’t mean anyone against him is untouchable or correct beyond doubt.

A businesswoman? No. Doreen Wade is a delusional milker, with a website plastered with plagiarized photos taken by photographers from actual news sources. The one on the “NEInformer.net” homepage of the schoolkids? Taken straight from a PennLive.com article — from 2008.

Everything else? Just random links to places such as CareerBuilder.com, the Governor’s office, and a random list of PR articles from PR Newswire.

It’s a messy scrapbook, with OTHER PEOPLE’S content. Not a newsmagazine. And NOT a business.

Lat night my 13 year old son quoted George Washington on a state devided after I stated I’d never vote democrats or republican again to an acquaintance. My acquaintance replied with another quote claiming to be George Washinton as well but my son corrected him and said “no that was Abrham Lincoln”! I’m voting Evan Falchuk. Here’s an interesting link I came across about coakly.

What percentage of voters voted in yesterday’s state/federal election in Pittsfield?
Eleven percent of Pittsfield’s registered voters turned out for Tuesday’s Massachusetts primary election.
A total of 3,090 ballots were cast from the city’s pool of 28,083 registered voters.

That’s because most voters are independent but Ma will get to keep the corrupt govt they want when less than half show up the “majority” elect Coakly.

All politicians are about POWER! It is not about right or wrong, but rather it is all about money and POWER! The idea that the current Mayor of Pittsfield, Dan Bianchi, is somehow any different than any other politician defies the iron rule of oligarchic politics, which is that there are a few wolves and many sheeps, or the elite haves versus have-nots, is not based in reality. My family and I went through the ringer when I opposed the corrupt and vindictive political career of Andrea Francesco Nuciforo Junior.

Hey….sorry to go off topic, but the discussion seems to be degenerating anyway so, was anyone ever named Director of 1Berkshires/Berkshire Chamber to replace Professor Supranowicz? I don’t ever recall seeing that reported, although I had my bet placed.

Charlie Baker seems like an intelligent and kind man while Coakley has been part of the Democratic “machine” of Massachusetts. She is the one who looked the other way when all of the corruption has been going on. The feds had to come in and clean up the mess of the Probation Department because Coakley wasn’t on top of that problem or the majority of corruption issues involving government officials here in Mass. since the Dems watch each others backs to avoid any corruption charges. Coakley was well trained to not go after any of her fellow Dems.

Guess who will win in Massachusetts? More than likely it will be Coakley because she has a loyal following consisting of a large number of women and other “groupies” who will also look the other way when it comes to Coakley’s flaws.

Why does it turn into a Doreen Wade hate-fest on here every single time her name is mentioned?

Is it trickle down racism started by this mayor?

Absolutely not trickle down racism started by the mayor. Some of us have done our homework on Wade. She has misrepresented herself numerous times and it bit her in the butt.

Well Pat, maybe “all” the Dems who didn’t vote for Grossman will get even smarter and vote for Baker! I can’t wait to see how our local pols will change face and back Coakley! It obviously doesn’t matter, and the funny thing is that they think they matter(umm 1 vote in Berkshire county for Grossman wasn’t worth spit to the votes in the cities who actually vote.

The cities that vote in large numbers like Boston were largely responsible for electing Elizabeth Warren. Even with her obviously false claims of having a Native American heritage, large numbers of women turned out to vote her in. I will only vote for someone based on their character and their qualifications and not their gender or their race. It’s ridiculous to say “Wow, we have a woman Senator or a woman Governor” unless they can actually do a good job in that position. Otherwise, what is the point? I do not think Coakley would make a good Governor.

If more voters actually turned out to vote in Berkshire County, we could make a small dent in the numbers, but it’s pathetic how few actually vote. The school where I vote was empty except for the election people when I arrived there after work. I am supporting Baker and hope that many others will also.

You guys keep beating the drum on the Elizabeth Warren Indian thing. Meanwhile she is an amazing candidate who should be the next president! She’s one of the precious few in either party willing to take on Big Finance and try to kick them in the balls. Just about all our woes today can be traced back to the horribly corrupt, self-perpetuating banking/finance system. Just about every politician out there takes their money. She wants to take them on. That alone deserves respect.

Ha,ha,ha ….have you sen who supports Ms. Warren??? I hope the people from states of the US (not the Commonwealth because they do not use the brains gave them) understand her personality is all about herself and moving forward and do not vote for her!! Although if she does run maybe we can finally meet her Native American family!! Maybe I’m part of it because I am about 1/100 Native American!!

Warren is the last partisan politician I voted for I couldn’t give brown my vote but that’s it I’ll never vote democrat or republican ever again. Since she’s been in I haven’t really heard much of anything she’s doing. What is she doing these days anyways??? Student loans are atill high and big banks still rule. She can’t really make a difference who are we kidding? She supports gun control as well but like I said who are we kidding?

In a year and a half she’s sponsored 4 bills to help with student loans. At least two of them have been serious thorns in the side of the banking industry because they make a boatload of money off them, they do not go away in bankruptcy or even death!
