BUSY FINAL PUSH FOR THE FOUR MAYORAL HORSES

Mayor Lockdown waited until the last minute to formally kick-off his re-election bid Friday, grabbing a cheap headline of praise prior to Tuesday’s election from The Boring Broadsheet, which obliged by holding off on the non-story until Sunday.

The mayor’s loyalists were led by the High Sheriff, who somehow found time from his packed schedule as activities director at Tommy’s Holiday Ranch near the Berkshire Mall. That place is so popular they have razor wire on the perimeter to keep people out!
City council president Melissa Mazzeo led the cheers, feeding supporters Frosted Flakes. Mazzeo performed with the deftness of a proofreader in an M&M factory. Nothing is beyond her.
Bowler said the mayor “cares about this community and the people in this community.” Apparently, there has been some doubt. Lockdown himself reported how he is “doing great things as far as public safety is concerned.” THE PLANET cannot argue, with two murders, seven people shot, and three mysterious deaths in the past two months plus. Stabbings, muggings, drugs, and gangs? According to one of the mayor’s supporters, that’s “just Valenti stirring it up.” Yeah, THE PLANET had spies in the house.

The Lovely Linda, in The BB‘s candidate profiles in Sunday’s paper, said, “Building relationships is what I excel at over the incumbent.” She’s not kidding. For confirmation, check on her deal with councilor-at-large Barry Clairmont. More power to them.
Tyer seems determined to communicate the mass audiences in politalk, a verbal jambalaya cooked over temperate heat. Ingredients include jargon, cliches, idioms, and patter. For example, she talked of creating “critical partnerships with all the stakeholders” in addressing city issues. Great, but what does that mean to Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski? She said “living, working, and learning together in a 21st-century city [is] a power-shared vision.” Try saying that three times slowly. Who talks like that other than bank presidents, corporate stiffs, and worried bureaucrats? When pressed on promised new initiatives like her proposed expansion of pre-school, Tyer said she “understands the fiscal constraints.” That sounds like code for “cost is no object.”
These are canned words that ring of over-eagerness, like a 13-year-old who’s out to convince adults she doesn’t belong at the kiddies table for Thanksgiving. Tyer would be best to ditch the speech writer, stuff the canned remarks, and begin speaking from the heart.

Walto had good weekend. She showed up for the WWLP-TV debate.
On time.
Sober.
Asked to comment on her performance, Walto told reporters, “No comment right now. You can talk to my attorney.”
Wait. THE PLANET got confused. That quote is from her mayoral campaign in 2011, after she was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly calling a city cop a “——- ——” then shoving him. The police report stated she smelled of alcohol and appeared wobbly.
Walto presumably reminded the dazed TV-22 audience, three of whom can vote in Pittsfield, that she graduated from Williams College, can tap its alums, knew Marcus Aurelius personally, and helps zillionaire Japanese businessmen find bliss and rice wine on local mountain tops.
Naturally, we shudder.

Talk about a pre-election blitz. The Crucifier made headlines Sunday in The BB with “Pittsfield mayoral candidate … alleges conspiracy.” He claims the mayor, police chief, and fire chief have engaged in a “smear campaign” stemming from a case involving a fire department employee. Gaetani has been charged with harassing and threatening the woman.
As if that last-minute PR bonanza wasn’t enough, Gaetani is slated to appear in Central Berkshire District Court today, the day before the election. Incidentally, Gaetani was a no-show for the Channel 22 debate.
The Crucifier has been running on a taxpayer-first agenda, a winning issue if there ever was one. Unfortunately, his head-butting style combined with his refusal to spend money pushing his platform via traditional means (ads, lawn signs, literature, mailings) has assigned him to an electoral periphery who planetary orbit has been barely inside that of Walto. There’s Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, Pluto, Gaetani, interstellar space, and The Donna.
Good things come to those who wait. After tomorrow, two of these four horses will be glue.

Gaetani is the only one who speaks for the senior citizen. Walto is clueless and Tyer and Bianchi just want more of your money. Gaetani is not perfect by any means but is the only one talking about reigning in taxes and out of control school spending. And they are the two issues most important to me. I really don’t give a rats ass about adding self watering planters to Tyler street or mythical jobs at the PEDA site.

For most of the contributors to Tyer and Bianchi it doesn’t matter if their taxes double. They don’t care…..they can throw $500.00 or $1000.00 around like it’s play money. They can support all the money guzzling projects and raises. Notice that Gaetani was the only one to mention you, the taxpayer.
I guess we “stupid” people will vote tomorrow. Losers will have to deal with it. All should be congratulated for putting themselves in the public spotlight. It’s not easy to do.

Mike Ward can regift his donations to anyone he wants. Anyone who would donate to his progressive liberal politics, deserves to get ripped off. As long as he is not running for anything, Pittsfield is so much better off.

I couldn’t bring myself to support Linda Tyer for Mayor of Pittsfield because she is part of Jimmy Ruberto’s organization. Jimmy Ruberto was a terrible Mayor of Pittsfield! Jimmy Ruberto was a Good Old Boy whose supporters included Gerry Doyle, Angelo Stracuzzi, Carmen Massimiano, and eventually Nuciforo, who is now in the Dan Bianchi camp with former Mayor Sarah Hathaway. During the Ruberto regime, Pittsfield lost over 3,000 residents to population loss. As well, Pittsfield saw thousands of jobs lost. Once jobs are lost, they ain’t comin’ back, Jack (Welch)! Jimmy Ruberto and Dan Bianchi both raised municipal taxes and fees by about 5 percent per year over the past dozen years. Pittsfield’s municipal budget is unsustainable and is headed towards insolvency and future bankruptcy! Pittsfield has about 1/2-billion dollars in liabilities or debts. Pittsfield’s huge debt load will never be paid off in our lifetimes. Linda Tyer will continue Jimmy Ruberto’s road to ruin! Please vote for anybody except Linda Tyer in 2015!

I suspect that if Tyer wins the general the only thing that will change is the drapes and the wall paper in the corner office.
I thought I heard one of the mayoral candidates say there are 1700 unfilled jobs due to lack of skill? The B C C debate was painful to listen to.

Tyer sounds like she’s telling us a bedtime story. Bianchi is so ethical, he ‘s for the pipeline, for instance, which is completely out of character from the Bianchi we knew as Councilman. Walto seems trapped in a time warp. So that leaves us with C G, he wants to lower both tax rates and cut 7 percent a year. He said he will stop the new high school, and that is important because he knows we were shut out of the process. He has many other opinions to try and ease the burden on the taxpayer. Gaetani wants the taxpayer to take back the City. I think he means what he’s saying. Do I think he’ll win. No. But at least show the man some respect for trying to incorporate these ideas and thank him for the petitions at the council meetings as well.

Bianchi’s reply was to pray for better weather concerning the roads in the winter. You can’t make it up. Tyer said we could see her out will a shovel and a wheel barrel if necessary? real funny?
My 2 cents. Tyer wants to remove the Mayor from the PEDA board. That’s a show-stopper for me as that policy puts a potential manufacturing site in the hands of a board prone to expediency.
Gaetani has some good words, but I’m not sure I’d vote for a retribution-ticket. Otherwise, my bet, for ill or not, would be on the Fire/Police Chief. What a way to blow an agenda of fiscal reform.
I don’t know of a person known as Mr. Williams A Association. Hope he lives in Pittsfield.
I guess I will have to vote Bianchi and hopes he moves to Beacon Hill in 2020. Always vote upwards, onwards, and for progress.
