Tyer Decisively Wins Preliminary Election
Pittsfield, Mass. – Upon learning the results from the Preliminary Election held on September 22, 2015, Linda Tyer, current City Clerk and candidate for mayor of the City of Pittsfield, shared her optimism for the upcoming November election.
“I am thrilled with the energy and enthusiasm surrounding the campaign,” said Tyer. “I’ve received such strong support from so many residents in and around Pittsfield and today’s results solidify that our city is in desperate need of a change. We have another 41 days to continue the momentum and to share plans on how together we can improve our city. I look forward to more opportunities to have productive and candid discussions about the direction of Pittsfield. I believe that our city deserves better and, based on tonight’s results, it is clear that voters agree. I promise our city residents that I will restore their faith in municipal government.”
Unofficial results were reported by campaign volunteers at polling locations throughout the city:
- Tyer – 2,786, 55.05%
- Dan Bianchi – 1,960, 39%
- Craig Gaetini – 176, 3.5%
- Donna Walto – 133, 2.6%
The election that will determine Pittsfield next mayor will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.

THE PLANET shall have more discussion of this result tomorrow.

$$$$$ won
What a waste of tax money! Two clowns with no chance of winning forcing a primary. Walto with her ridiculous pickled views and Gaetini who acts nuttier than a can of Planters.
you must be from the Bianchi camp and upset because the primary showed his lack of support
Best two candidates won.
Agreed. The views of the Planet regulars are not representative of the real world.
Dan V. is a Planet regular, in fact he is the Planet, and his views are very much in touch with the real world. Much more so than Tyer or Bianchi and certainly much more than most Pittsfield voters who never met a progressive they didn’t like.
yeah if 16% represents the real world
Chuck the be$t two candidates won
Over 90% of registered voters were not with Linda. Such strong support can only be found in Pittsfield, MA.
Mr. V. the two worst people for Pittsfield did win.
What is your definition of Best?
Jimmy Ruberto wins again in the bizarre world of Pittsfield politics!
Turnout was extraordinarily light on Tuesday, at only 18.7 percent or 5,076 voters…our of 27,038 registered voters.
That means 81.3 percent of (or 21,962) voters did not bother to vote today.
Pittsfield politics equals voter apathy!
Both GOB$ got their vote out…..the be$t people won
The headline should read Ruberto Retread Rolls
I wonder how many of my fellow bloggers have met either candidate. Whoever wins will need to listen if enough people talk to them. Email them. Call them. Best of all write them a letter. Tell them how you feel what you want done. If you remain silent they will listen to other voices- NOT yours!
Politics should not be a spectator sport but sadly in Pittsfield it is just that – a spectator sport.
Excellent advice Chuck. The taxpayers of Pittsfield may not have much say in who is their government but we can call them and email them and badger them into doing the right thing. Well maybe once in a while.
But yes, let’s stay on their case including the council people. Make them earn their money. My guess is that over half the people in the city do not know who their councilors are or what their responsibilities are.
I would suggest that everyone get the telephone numbers of the mayor and their councilor as well as the at large people and post it on your refrigerator. And if you have an issue call these people because they wanted the job. We are paying them to help us with neighborhood issues not just to vote for us. Don’t forget to get Colingwoods number and the city yard and stay on their case as well. Some of these councilors would not have taken the job if they had to actually do it.
Last night was every ones opportunity to make a difference but most of you decided to stay home and complaint. There were four candidates. Voting cost nothing. No excuses.
