MILLENNIALS: THESE ‘CRYBABY KIDS’ CAN’T HANDLE HONEST FEEDBACK, SO WHY WOULD ANY CITY CARE ABOUT KEEPING THEM?

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION, APRIL 29-MAY 1, 2016) — The Suited head- scratchers in Pittsfield recently conducted a conference addressing the question of how to attract and retain Millennials (is it a proper noun?) to and in Pittsfield. THE PLANET isn’t sure if any public money went into this navel-gazing-by-committee, but we can tell you that the resources for the events were a waste, excepting the fancy vittles and refreshments. We didn’t attend, but we had The Secret Squadron there.

The “new” college student.

How do you keep millennials in Pittsfield? Who cares? Or, to put it another way, who the heck are “the millennials?” They are the degeneration of the spawn-chain that began with The Greatest Generation that linked The Baby Boomers, Gen X, then Gen Y. Technically, a millennial is anyone born in 1982 and thereafter up to 2012.

How Do you Spot a Millennial?

Millennials are easy to spot. As everyone who has ever escaped owning a cell phone in middle school know, millennials are lazy, dumb, stupid, vain, selfish, shallow, intellectually feeble, morally lifeless, vacuous, bland, trite, unimaginative, and uninspiring. They’re self-absorbed “victims” who look outside of themselves and away from their phone screens only when searching for someone to blame. Blame for what? Anything that doesn’t go their way.

Yes, THE PLANET knows all about over-generalizations. We also know that in the case of these entitled airheads, every one of whom has received a medal and a trophy just for entering the human race, over-generalizations are impossible. They are the one case where there are no exceptions. With that, THE PLANET presents our guest column for The Weekend Edition. Enjoy.

Special to Planet Valenti News and Commentary

I was first introduced to the suckiness of Millennials in my job a couple years ago. We had a coworker who would do decent work but every time someone offered suggestions, she would reject them and when our manager criticized her, she broke down and cried.

Selfie Selfish

Now, the suckiness of Millennials is on display every day in the news. There isn’t a spot on the New York Times calendar that isn’t littered with headlines of some poor little Millennial bitch (male or female) who got their precious little feelings hurt. Now we need “safe places” in PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES where over-protected ass-hats can feel just as special as their false-loving mama did? They’re such gentle flowers that they think that the First Amendment—you know the one that protects the freedom of speech against motherfucking tyrants?—isn’t applicable anymore. According to these big babies, people don’t have the right to say something if it offends them. The fuck? This is PC culture on methamphetamines. These weak-ass mental pussies make Baby Boomers look good and that’s saying a lot.

The university used to be a place to challenge one’s views and learn about the world. Now it seems that it’s a big playpen for oversized toddlers with big-girl panties and skinny jeans. Dickheads that think it’s worse to offend someone than to shoot them. No wonder more people are doing the latter.

THEIR INFINITE GENDER IDENTIFICATIONS

Millennials are the first generation to blatantly ignore the obvious biological differences between male and female and claim that your psychological interpretation or identification means more than reality. There’s a reason this shit was in the DSM—it’s a PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDER to think you’re another sex. Bruce Jenner isn’t a Millennial, granted, but no doubt all of his idiotic supporters are.

Ask a college student what gender they are and if he or she isn’t so offended they cry and run away, they may give you any number of fucked up answers. “I’m queer.” “I’m bisexual.” “Oh I identify as trans-jerry-ass-amphibian-fucker.” What a bunch of assholes.

You want to offend a college kid? Tell them that there is a difference between men and women. That’ll put them into a faggy-ass rage like you’ve never seen!

Basically, everyone but the rarest of exceptions has a XX or XY sex chromosome. That single designation from the two possibilities makes one a male or female. Males have penises and women have vaginas and can become pregnant. This basic physiological difference (and many others based on the chromosomal differences) are ignored by these mindless androgynous automaton Millennials. All these gender classifications are a figment of your disturbed psychology. Pick up a biology book you assholes!

THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE ABOUT ECONOMICS

Imagine the most economically-illiterate human being on Earth. Now put them in charge of teaching economics to a bunch of these everyone-gets-a-star Millennial dickheads. That’s where they’ve learned economics. “We demand free birth control!” “Free university education!” “Free health care!” Do all these Marxist monkeys expect to work for free when they get done consuming all their free stuff? Of course not because that would be unfair! Fuck you suck-head.

This is by no means an exhaustive list. There are a lot of reasons why Millennials suck and I don’t have the time to document them. Here’s some more commentary: Generation Cry Baby

Millennials the Most Useless population – of course they think they’re God’s gift to the world and that’s a problem.

You can’t criticize them, so they feel, because they can’t handle honest feedback about their lives. As one writer put it of these “crybaby kids … millennials are a bunch of whiny, spoiled brats.” No one dares “to come close to criticizing them about anything because they’re emotional terrosists toddlers in really expensive, distressed clothing.”

THE PLANET hopes you enjoyed Finley Morrison’s piece as much as we did. It’s an excellent example of “tone” in a piece of writing. With that, we bid you adieu.  Have a great weekend, everybody.

You should have issued a trauma warning before posting this. How dare you Dan! Perhaps an A for attendance, free counseling and another trashy tattoo will make them feel better. That and some Perq 30’s to pop.

I agree to some extent. Self absorbed, lazy, the world revolves around them. My 27 year old nephew can be so incredibly hard working, intelligent and generous and turn into a self absorb a-hole in 12 seconds, just like his….father? uncle?

Yup, those same descriptions could have been used to describe the baby boomers (born 1946-1964) to whom an entirely new youth culture evolved. Or the notion of recreational drug use. We now have retirees who grew up smoking pot, popping pills, and snorting lines of coke.

Yet, most of them turned out pretty decent, productive and were good additions to the world.

I think we are all idiots until we find a career or at least a steady job, buy a house, find someone we love or at least tolerate and have a kid or three (not having a bunch of kids you cannot raise with men who have no intention of honestly supporting them – that does not count).

My mom, a WW2 vet and child of the depression is in her 90’s and tough as nails – still. but, she gave birth to me and my siblings – so when we were self absorbed idiots, was it her fault? now that we all are productive human beings, is it to her credit?

I don’t know but complaining about the new crop of leaders to be is as old as mankind. Why do we want them to stay? Because they will be supporting us someday and we want the best of an imperfect crop I suppose. the Class of 1971 looked an awful lot like the Class of 2015.

Yet he dedicates a major portion of all his tv programs to showing the Planet posts and reading them word for word. In essence he plagiarizes The Planet. Why can’t he develop his own original material or is The Planet superior to the show’s creativity ? Why be critical of the material he uses and reads constantly on his tv show ? It most certainly is promoting DV and The Planet.

Ridiculous. Dan V. has valid points about today’s youth, but we should be asking why kids are like they are today. Of course its the school system. The colleges feed nonsense to these kids and they are gullible enough to believe it. Colleges don’t teach critical thinking because if they did the kids would easily figure out that what they are teaching them is a load of garbage.

Instead the colleges teach them to conform and concentrate heavily on the liberal agenda. Colleges today are just recruiting grounds for liberal causes and they are teaching the kids to be intolerant. Colleges used to be all about encouraging free speech, but today the students are boycotting people who have views that are different from their views. It’s not shocking that the views they oppose are generally conservative views since they have been brainwashed by the liberal colleges to support ridiculous things like allowing women who think they are men to use the men’s room or vice versa. Mind you these are people who are biologically still women. Personally I think these women would be safer using the ladies room than going into a men’s room looking like a woman, but I fortunately do not think like liberals. Or they are encouraging the young people to believe that big government will be our savior. The list goes on and on.

The kids are somewhat at fault because they are so gullible and therefore its easy for the liberal colleges to turn them into liberal lunatics, but the colleges know what they are intentionally doing so in my opinion they bear the brunt of the blame.

NEWS ARTICLE (must read) –

“Officials lay out challenges for Pittsfield budget for fiscal 2017”
By Jim Therrien, The Berkshire Eagle, April 29, 2016

PITTSFIELD – A report by the Tyer administration on the city’s financial condition has prompted some city councilors to call for reductions in the fiscal 2017 budget.

In a presentation Thursday before a joint meeting of the council and School Committee — an annual requirement in the city charter — Mayor Linda M. Tyer, city finance officials and outside advisers described Pittsfield’s budgetary trends.

“Fiscal [2017] and beyond will present us with serious challenges that we must address with a number of strategies that control costs, foster growth and encourage collaboration,” the mayor said in her report.

Those challenges were laid out during the session by Finance Director Matthew Kerwood, Board of Assessors Chairwoman Paula King, the city’s outside auditor, Thomas Scanlon of Scanlon & Associates, and actuary Michael Frank, of Aquarius Capital Solutions Group.

The budget restraints cited include annual city tax increases coupled with stagnant growth in property valuation, a shrinking level of excess Proposition 2 ½ levy capacity, along with only small annual increases in state aid and local revenue from excise and other taxes and fees.

“Without substantial growth in the tax base, the levy ceiling will be driving the bus for a long time,” Kerwood said, referring to the city’s shrinking ability to raise taxes without an override vote.

“This is an eye-opener, especially for the people watching at home,” said Councilor Kevin Morandi, following the presentations.

He said the city must look at cutting costs and possibly city positions when the council deliberates the fiscal 2017 budget next month.

Councilor Kathleen Amuso said she has asked for spending restraint for the past two years but budget requests have steadily increased. “This time, I will be looking for reductions,” she said, adding that “Some positions might need to go unfilled.”

Scanlon, as he had at a recent council meeting, provided highlights of the annual city audit, which focused in part on the level of cash reserves, and a steady annual decline in Pittsfield’s ability to raise taxes without a Proposition 2 ½ override vote.

The auditor said stagnation in the growth of total real estate valuation since the Great Recession, coupled with annual budget increases, has caused the amount the city can raise without an override to plummet in recent years — although it still would allow a tax hike of up to approximately $5 million to $6 million without an override.

He told the officials that having such excess levy capacity is, in fact, rare among the more than 80 municipalities his firm works with. Many, he said, are already at their tax levy limit (allowing increases of 2.5 percent per year, plus the annual increase in property valuation).

In answer to questions from councilors, Scanlon said having excess levy capacity shows financial flexibility and is seen as a positive by bond rating agencies, which allows the city to receive favorable interest rates when borrowing.

He added, however, that at the current rate of tax increases, the excess levy capacity could vanish in two or three years, requiring an override vote for any tax hike and possibly causing rating agencies to reconsider the city’s A+ bond rating.

Scanlon has recommended raising taxes while excess levy capacity remains and placing the funds into a stabilization account. He said the city’s stabilization accounts now total $1.8 million, but that figure has remained stagnant for five years, and he advised adding to the city’s funding reserves.

Tyer and Kerwood said the city hopes to soon receive state Department of Revenue approval to release $1.65 million in a restricted fund set up during Pittsfield’s financial crisis of the early 2000s, when the state stepped in to help resolve the problems.

They said the plan is to place that $1.65 million in a stabilization fund.

Kerwood said the major expenses driving city budget increases include the salaries, raises and benefits for 2,127 full- and part-time school and city employees, plus pension and benefit obligations for retirees.

He also cited the state and federal mandates associated with special education, environmental requirements and other programs, especially in light of state aid levels that “are staying flat” and likely to remain so next year.

The finance director said the city’s overall debt load of about $95.4 million, with interest included, is not unusual for a community of its size.

Frank reported on unfunded, accrued obligations, such as for pensions and retiree health insurance, which now must be shown on annual municipal reports as liabilities, although those costs have always been calculated on other reports.

Charts displayed during the presentation show unfunded accrued liabilities for retiree health insurance — including costs projected out long-term for current workers — now are estimated at $234.5 million. Frank and Kerwood said the new employee and retiree health insurance contract for Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage that began last July has, however, helped to control those costs.

Kerwood said Friday that the city’s long-term unfunded retiree health insurance costs are not unusually high for a city of Pittsfield’s size and do not raise immediate alarm bells.

However, he said the Tyer administration is planning to address it. He said that includes continuing to add annually to a trust fund set up last year with a $100,000 appropriation to help control those costs and to work with an investment advisor to increase the trust fund amount.

Total assessed property valuation in Pittsfield is down $129.4 million since fiscal 2010, King said, leaving a total citywide valuation of $3.34 billion. However, she said overall values have slowly risen in the past two years and are expected to do so again this fiscal year.

To significantly raise the city’s excess levy capacity figure, though, Scanlon and other officials said that would require major economic growth. Scanlon said it would have to be comparable to a casino opening in Pittsfield.

Councilor Donna Todd Rivers said of the financial reports, “This is incredibly serious. I have a little bit of a tentative stomach over this.”

She said city officials might have to consider “what goes and what stays” in the next budget, adding, “We can’t have it all.”

School Committee member Cynthia Taylor said, “This is very sobering, to say the least. We really heard the hard numbers tonight.”

However, Taylor, who has advocated strongly for maintaining school spending levels, said one option for city officials is to join the battle for increased Chapter 70 state aid to school districts.

“We can really have an impact on this legislation,” she said, referring to a proposed overhaul of the Chapter 70 program.

The School Committee on Wednesday approved a fiscal 2017 budget with a 2.91 percent increase.

Tyer is still preparing her overall city budget, which will include the school budget, for submission to the council for review during June. A new spending plan is due before the start of the fiscal year on July 1.

We will tell you- as we have told other communities-that unless there is a concerted effort by all who are fed up with local govt., to band together to fight the powers that be or your city will go down the tubes like my city did. So did Kerwood say that the school budget is driving the budget increases? And did Scanlon says we are headed for trouble? If so then logic suggests that the city council and mayor will make a concerted effort to chop the school budget right?

Or are they just a puppet regime who work for the special interests?

“Simple cuts to everything is not the solution. I’m not one of those who think this is the time to just disinvest in this community,” Tyer said. “It is not reasonable to expect cuts when we want to grow. So how do we make those investments without exceeding our taxing ability or the ability of the community to pay?”

She says she’ll be crafting a “variety of strategies” to address the situation.

I just don’t get this. I’m , more often than not, critical of The Planet. sometimes even harshly critical. As a follow up to today’s blog, and back on subject, the millennial stereotype exists. Absolutely. We all deal with it. But it is a stereotype driven by mass media. It’s akin to racist stereotypes, sexuality stereotypes, age stereotypes, and disability stereotypes. It’s not about being politically correct, it’s about realizing that these stereotypes are used to oppress and harm people very severely. That we are even discussing bathroom bills is a distraction from not just corruption, but our failing infrastructure, failing healthcare, failing education, and failing veterans services. Mary and Joe Kapinski care about these issues very much. Let’s fix them.

Its your progressive politicians like Tricia Farley Bouvier and others who are not doing enough to help with all of the issues you mentioned. They are the ones worried about bathroom bills and illegal immigrants and making those issues their top priorities while the important issues like a financially collapsing Pittsfield are way down on their list of what is important.

Yes we have Tricia Farley Bouvier helping to build a house yesterday for low income people. The pictures are all over the BB, but that is just for show. Overall, she is doing nothing for our area to help with the financial pain.

What’s all the conrtoversy and angst over identifying posters all about ? What game changing difference does it actually make ? Are they going to recieve threatening phone calls ? What really are the consequences ? Http addresses and proxy servers work both ways: right Colt 45 ? Is this your real name or can some “expert” id you. ? Seems like an unecessary and meaningless endeavor with more important considerations looming.
Yes, my real name.

Site commenters– We applaud what you are trying to do but the number of people who post on this site and the numbers of individuals who read this site is very small. The City’s two most prominent taxpayer friendly TV shows- the Gaetani News Hour and Planet Valenti, which are broadcast on your local TV station PCTV, are sparsely watched. In order for you people to be successful in moving your city govt. forward- will require a much larger base than you presently have. There are many things you can do but in any event, it will require large numbers of individuals- who have the same mind set as the majority of you who comment on this site. More active participation by all of you and your friends and relatives- is what is necessary- to be effective. We will now leave this site and wish you all well in your endeavors to take back your city. CHOW.

STREAM SC MEETING 4-27-16. An attendance officer at 73 thousand dollars a year. He/she keeps track who is in school or out of school on a daily basis. Qualifications needed- a heart beat. HOW MANY OF YOU OUT THERE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS POSITION??. Nice medical benefits and retirement benefits to boot. Watch Tyer at this meeting. SHE IS TOTALLY LOST. I FEEL SORRY FOR THE TAXPAYERS OF THIS CITY. I AM AFFRAID YOU ARE HEADING INTO BANKRUPTCY JUST LIKE MY CITY DID QUITE RECENTLY

What I am reading between the lines from what Linda Tyer is saying. Look for all kinds of new creative fees and taxes. She does not have the power to cut anything because she is not really in charge of anything. She seems to get her marching orders from the school committee and their union people.

And let us not forget the last two mayors who had a big hand in contributing to this mess. They were totally irresponsible. The biggest problem with Pittsfield is that we keep winding up with politicians who run for office for their own personal gain. Pittsfield and its people do not stand a chance in hell if they are not connected and will go down with the ship.

The deck of the ship is listing badly. Those without life vests will be losing more equity in their homes as each day passes.

What is the story on those two large properties in West Pittsfield? The old Big N across from McDonalds and the old Arace property that has been turned into a logging operation. Do they pay taxes? Do they owe back taxes? Why does the city not just take these properties as each one has look like hell for 15 years or more? You always hear about our “gateways to the city” but I guess some gateways are less important than others huh mayor?

There should be some tax revenue there unless there are special circumstances involved.

Heh, the city shut down the project that the owners wanted to do in spite of the fact all the neighbors wanted it. Typical Pittsfield, the right people didn’t get paid off.

I totally agree with you there. An Attendance Officer making $73,000.00 dollars a year. That is outrageous. All they do is call someone up and ask why their child didn’t attend school that day and log it in their computer and then try to get that child into the classroom more often. This isn’t brain surgery and the salary is way over the top as are all of the salaries in the Pittsfield public school system.

This is what the city is up against. Many of these overpaid school people, if they live here in the city, also vote in Pittsfield elections. They will vote every time for the politicians who keep the gravy train going. They will not get on this site and could care less about what is said on this site. They vote for their own financial interests not for those of the entire city. Really Pittsfield has become a school union city and this is what is destroying this city.

“Outrageous” is certainly the word for an attendance officer making $73,000 a year. Give me a break! You don’t need a college degree to handle that task.

And how many other positions with similar duties and salary that we don’t know about?

Enough is enough! Someone has to stand up and be counted and put a stop to this ridiculous nonsense.

Yes our local politicians are supposed to be looking out for the big picture of the financial situation of the city or the greater good as it used to be called. Problem is that they are not instead they are answering to the school unions and the school committee.

Tricia Farley Bouvier all over the BB helping to build a house for Habitat for Humanity. Too bad its just for show because she does nothing for the financially suffering people in this area. Her main concerns are drivers licenses for illegal aliens and the bathroom issue. These are your progressive politicians at work doing nothing for this area except for photo ops to make it look like they care about locals.

Who is this $73,000 /yr attendance officer. I have never heard of this person (or position). For that kind of money they should be going to truants homes, banging on doors, and dragging the kids to school. All attendance data can be accumulated via Power School through IT. There is definitely no need for this position.

Also interesting that Ms. Taylor is always opposing any cuts by the superintendent. Maybe she should also propose a resolution that all legal settlements be made public. The numerous suits always get settled with an agreement that neither side disclose the agreement. Maybe Ms. Taylor will give back her undisclosed payment from the city for her “unfair” treatment by the school district. The children need it now.

This alone should have disqualified her from serving on the PSC (if the voting public only knew).

Dan, the subject of city/school district lawsuits would be a great story/expose for a future article(s).

I agree. For that salary this attendance officer should literally be dragging the kids into school.

It would be interesting to know just for poops and giggles if the attendance person making the huge bucks in related to anyone in power either withing the school system or city govt. And doesn’t the school system create all these jobs for themselves? Who is to say someone with power could not just up and a make work job with huge pay for a friend or relative? Remember, it is Pittsfield, Ma land of constant shenanigans and back room magic.

MR. SIMONELLI–Mr. Gaetani wanted me to invite you to appear on his TV Show -The Gaetani Pittsfield News Hour-to give us a history of your 20+ year tenure as VP at THS. As VP, YOU WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR BUILDING MAINTENANCE. I would like to know what you did or didn’t do to keep THS IN A STATE OF GOOD REPAIR. I have many questions to ask you and will on my TV Show. MY show– unlike the show you most recently appeared on- the Bill Sturgeon show are very very different shows. No softballs or questions to make yourself look good. My show is about FACTS-FACTS-FACTS-period. THE CITY’S TAXPAYERS PAID YOU A HEFTY SUM WHEN YOU WERE VP ALONG WITHE HEALTHY MEDICAL AND PENSION PACKAGE. Now you are a city councilor- making a tidy sum. I want to review your votes as a city councilor -especially your VOTES that pertain to the THS Project. YOU KNOW HOW TO REACH ME. I ASSUME YOU KNOW HOW TO USE THE PHONE BOOK.

GOOD BYE PITTSFIELD-We go home tonight. Enjoyed following the site. Will monitor for a while and if we see vicious personal attacks- with no validity- we will identify the commenter. Truth is always the best policy. WE WISH THAT THIS SITE WOULD CONSIDER ALL COMMENTERS TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES. Anonyomous posting leads to crack pots spewing their hate. You have several of them here and you know who they are. SO-Long PITTSFIELD.

How can Paula King say we are increasing slightly in reval’s while asked by Krol, who thinks General Dynamic employees will help with increase in property purchases? We’ve lost hundreds of jobs? New growth isn’t always net Growth.
