PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION Sept. 23-25, 2016) — Readers will recall our story earlier this week in which THE PLANET commented on the political motivations behind the Morningside “town meeting” regarding Walmart-PEDA. We based our coverage on reports from our spies in the room. The big news we saved to the end, that the Walmart deal will go through. For the moment, THE PLANET must leave it at that. We can’t tell you how we know, only that we know.

Considering the two councilors involved, we made sure our “criticism” of Ward 1 rep Lisa “I’m Not Linda” Tully and Ward 2’s Kevin “The Barber” Morandi would land softly as the dew upon the shimmering green grass of an early-fall morning. Morandi, who hasn’t been heard from since Floyd Lawson was knee-high to a barber pole, had no reaction. He never does. One of these days, someone will stick a mirror under his nose to see if he’s breathing.

Tully, however, had plenty to say. She mistook THE PLANET‘s kid gloves for brass knuckles.  And so it came to pass that she sent fan mail to this flounder with the subject line, “Your Insulting Blog.”

Dear Doug [sic],

I find it very sad that you would use your blog to insult me, who [sic] you barely know.  First of all, if you did your homework, you would know that I have regular meetings with Councilor Morandi including the budget, the new Taconic High School and the Walmart Proposal, just to name a few.  Secondly, I am not sure what you describe as a good city councilor.  In my opinion, a more important quality is listening then [sic] telling people what you think.  I also do my homework, research and vote in what I believe is the best interest of Ward 1 and the City.  I have never been one to grandstand.  If I remember our meeting when I first took office, I told you all the things I do for the community.  You asked me if you could let people know on your blog and I refused.     If you took a poll, and not on your blog, of people in my ward, I am confident you would not find a constituent that is unsatisfied with my representation, even if I did not vote their way.  As in any job I do whether nursing or City Councilor, I would not be satisfied if I could not give 100%. Let me assure you that I have no ambition to be anything more than a nurse and a ward councilor.

This being said, Let [sic] me ask you a question.  Do you like to insult people to grandstand and bring attention to your blog?  You accused me of politically grandstanding with this ward meeting, when I was just being a good representative of my ward.

Lastly, I will no long [sic] be answering any of your emails because you find me irrelevant and frankly now that’s how I regard you.

Sincerely,

Lisa Tully

 ——– 000 ——–

THE PLANET thanks our Right Honorable Good Friend for her response. She presents a lot to chew on — like eating a marshmallow topped with a dapple of whipped air.

Tully is that endearing type of office-holder one finds when third-rate politics sink to the fourth and fifth tiers. She’s “well intended” (aren’t they all?) but not bright enough to understand the exigencies of Realpolitick. Consequently, she interprets THE PLANET’s comments emotionally, as a personal attack.

How smart? She’s going to “show” THE PLANET by-yumpin-yiminy. She “will no long [sic] be answering any of your e-mails.” That’s telling us! Like we’re going to go away. She apparently doesn’t fathom that such a response always — always — dooms a politician. Taking the political football and going home in tears of “wah-wah” doesn’t work with the press, kid.

Let’s see how this translates come November 2017, assuming she runs for re-election facing certain defeat. THE PLANET has ways of making these things happen, not that we have to — not for someone who has trouble putting her M&Ms in alphabetical order or takes 60 minutes looking at the orange juice carton because it says “concentrate.”

——– 000 ——–

With that, THE PLANET opens The Comment Line. Have a great weekend, everybody!

As this Village Knight, it is my duty to defend
City Councilor, Lisa Tully!
She is the best Nurse in Ward1, for sure!
Residents love her for her kindness and so, they respect her.
Councilor, Lisa Tully always shows us her feelings without any
delays. She always try to express her-self sincerely and she supports whatever proposed making anything easy to pass–like
Ban on Circuses, ban of Styrofoam coffee caps, restrictions on tobacco sale and Restriction to enjoy the Life it-self in this Village.

Tully is inconsequential. Her “homework” is an assignment that reads, “Lisa, this is how we want you to vote.”

It is Friday. Let’s talk about something important.

I believe her she’s sincere. What I want to know is what do they know about PEDA and why should we be accepting such low hanging fruit.
How do we know that some developer won’t put up a 25 story office condo retirement tower overlooking the the berkshire mountains.

School Committee,

I hope that was your weekend joke, your post? How do we know “that some developer won’t put up a 25 story office condo retirement tower….” Well, I’ll just spitball a few ideas on why that’s not going to happen. (1) how long has GE been gone and how long has that area been vacant? (2) Let those who have retired enjoy their time on earth. If you move them there, they’ll become radioactive and glow in the dark. (3) see reason number one.

Tully’s response is going to get her in a heap of trouble with the Planet.

How did that work for The Empty Suit? If me remember correctly, he lost in a landslide.

How did it work for Clairmont? Dan beat him up for days on end, until he relented and started talking again.

So glad the Super Walmart will be happening. Why can’t the suits just tell us that so we can stop worrying about it? Why do they like to keep us guessing? Talk about a Tyler Street initiative. This will be great. This will revive Tyler Street absolutely.

Iberkshires has an article on the refugees they want to bring to Pittsfield. Mr. Krol goes into greater depth about why he wants to bring them here. It’s not just compassion, but also the fact that Pittsfield is losing population. Can you believe this? He wants to turn Pittsfield into a refugee camp because the politicians do not know how to create jobs to keep people in the city. What about what they keep telling us that people in the city do not have any skills for the jobs that are here and yet they now want to bring totally unskilled workers into the city for entry level jobs. None of what they do makes any sense.

Supposedly, as we have heard from Washington, they are all extremely vetted and we have nothing to worry about. This idea has apparently been in the works for some time according to the article. Pittsfield residents are just hearing about it now, but they have been discussing it for a long time. Nice that they wanted to get us involved in the conversation. This is the Taconic project all over again. Shutting the people out of this extremely important issue because they knew what the public reaction would be. They know best.

one of the problems with education is that we have made it overly complex. ELA, I presume stands for English Language Arts.

That in a nutshell is why we make no forward progress. You were an English Teacher. A noble profession. Folks who teach math are Math Teachers, folks who teach PE are PE or Gym Teachers.

What this does is focuses everyone: parents, students, teachers and administrators on what needs to happen in the classroom.

On a more Germaine note – one needs to ask how proficient a nurse the Counselor is. I mean, they are responsible to clearly document patient care and if this is the standard of writing she has, we are screwed.

Little John-John Krol, is for the first time leaving his protective shield of financial and political benefactors, and unwittingly taking a political risk in his vociferous promotion of the Syrian refugee issue. If things go awry and the Berkshires become the target of a radicalized harmful action by a ” well vetted” contingent, then even his outstanding track record as Jimmy Ruberto’s coffee maker will not save him from the political fall out.

On the surface bringing these potentially dangerous refugees into our country seems like a bad idea. And under the surface it still looks like a really bad idea.

But when our city leaders see dollar signs they really don’t give a damn about whether or not it might be a bad idea. If it involves money with few oversight strings attached they want as much as they can get their hands on. If this first group comes I guarantee Krol will be sending buses out to find more.

And Krol s interview with Iberkshires makes him look about as intellectual as Tully. Maybe they “collaborated”.

On a side note, yesterday I was reading the Eagle about Officer Dale Eason’s firing and his appeal.

Can somebody tell me why Taxes Tyer didn’t preside over Eason’s disciplinary hearing? Or maybe even Marchetti? I was wondering what qualifications does the finance director, Matt “Eddie Munster” Kerwood, have in disciplinary hearings?

Plus, I read a poster yesterday mention the cop who got a slap on the wrist for buying steroids through the mail. That’s a felony, but Eason got shit canned for, what seems like some pretty weak facts. I think the City of Pittsfield is about to pay Officer Eason some big bucks.

I live in Ward 1 and am not very pleased with Tully and her gay husband. She actually came to my house and told us she would NEVER vote to raise my tax’s. Then turned around and voted for every tax raise from the buses to the budgets and never once suggested ANY cuts. There has not been one blighted house taken down in the ward. No plan for street improvements except for her friends on Crane & Oak Hill who don’t need street improvements. She lives in Florida most of the winter and you can’t get ahold of her during the day.

I went to one of her and Morandi’s ward meetings, asked some questions and she just sat there while her husband made up some answers for her. Man do we miss Christine.

On the question of where the Federal Government will settle the refugees: In Bloomington IN we are going through the same trashy discussion that you are in Pittsfield. Those who want the refugees see their opinions as having a higher moral status than those who do not (“deniers”). The “wanters” believe that the “deniers” are irrationally afraid of terrorism and that it is a high moral standing to offer a place to these people. They further characterize the “deniers” as bigots. The “deniers” repeatedly point to Europe where communities of Muslim refugees are spawning terrorists and terrorist sympathizers. The conversation is nothing more than the deaf speaking to the blind.

Even when people begin to be murdered in our communities they will deny what is happening. These progressives have an end game that I am becoming more convinced everyday is to bring this country to its knees. That they think all of these strictly religious people who are against gays and everything liberals stand for can be successfully assimilated into this country without causing total chaos and lots of violence is insane. The ones making the sacrifice won’t be the wealthy progressives who will shield themselves with their wealth, gated communities, and body guards from the chaos.

You only have to look at other countries to see how they have become war zones (France, Germany, even Sweden). I say we should help them to stay in their own areas so they can continue to practice their religion. That is respecting them and treating them well. Not bringing them here to take on our value system. That will eventually end up creating lots of resentment from the refugees.

It did this after more than 150 messages against the refugees coming here were logged in for one article and numerous messages were logged in their editorial that was all for the refugees coming in. The free speech police in this area are really showing their true colors now. They want to totally clamp down on free speech. Even iberkshires removed one message that was against the refugees.

First off School Committee, it’s called “white flight,” not white fright. Second, why is it a problem? I can understand why people are upset at Tricia Country-Boufiet, for her sending her kids to Lenox schools and now is the “champion” of the new Taconic HS. That’s just hypocrisy at its finest. In another words, it’s horseshit!

Now as far as sending your kids to schools that students thrive, I see nothing wrong with that. If I lived in Pittsfield and had the chance to send my kids to Dalton, Lenox, or in Lee, would I? Not only yeah, but hell yeah, I would.

Do I want my kids having to concern themselves with being threatened by gang members, no. I want them to learn and have fun in school. Not worry about getting beat-up, robbed, or made fun of because they go to school for its intended purpose, to learn.

So, I’m all for “white flight,” school choice, or whatever you PC people want to call it. But on the same token, I’m not championing the Taconic cause. In fact, I think Pittsfield has more important financial needs than an “economic engine.”

School choice is ruining public education and Bouvier supports it.Connell should attack Bouvier on this.School choice is the product of white fright given to us by the conservative right wing or white fright wing of the late 1980s early 90s.School choice was never about improving public education and always about richer whites schooling together.

Why is there a refugee crisis in the first place. The Berkshire Eagle would have you believe that George Bush is the culprit. The truth, however, is much more recent than the former president.

“Obama’s own policy decisions—allowing Assad to convert peaceful demonstrations into an increasingly ugly civil war, refusing to declare safe havens and no fly zones—were instrumental in creating the Syrian refugee crisis. This crisis is in large part the direct consequence of President Obama’s decision to stand aside and watch Syria burn. For him to try and use a derisory and symbolic program to allow 10,000 refugees into the United States in order to posture as more caring than those evil Jacksonian rednecks out in the benighted sticks is one of the most cynical, cold-blooded, and nastily divisive moves an American President has made in a long time.

Moreover, many of those “benighted” people were willing to sign up for the U.S. military and go to fight ISIS in Syria to protect the refugees. Many Americans who now oppose the President’s ill-considered refugee program have long supported the use of American power to create “safe zones” in Syria so the refugees could be sheltered and fed in their own country. If President Obama seriously cared about the fate of Syria’s millions of displaced people, he would have started to organize those safe havens years ago. And if he understood the nature of America’s role in Europe, he would have known that working with the Europeans to prevent a mass refugee and humanitarian disaster was something that had to be done.”

I 100% blame warmongering Clinton for the Syrian refugee crisis.

Here’s an idea! How about turning St. Mary’s church over to the refugees for a mosque and they can be housed in the rectory and convent.

That should really upgrade the Tyler St. area!

I will tell you this as a fact, revising history about George Bush entering into a.2nd war in the middle east works. You may now blame Obama.for those 2 wars and for a failed world economy of.2007 and 2008 it’s called media brain washing.

Of course, Paul! That’s how things are done here in the Pitt! However, the refugee forum starts at 6 pm, and I believe the debate starts at 8pm. Plenty of time to attend the one and watch the other.

I wonder how many new businesses this will attract?

Spider, you make a great point. If the pitiful clowns at PETA can’t attract business then it will never happen now. Can anyone say Holyoke?

Mooslims in Pittsfield will be a real economic engine for the city.

How so?
Emergency room full staff.
Methadone clinic operating at full capacity.
Ebt cards = booming business for BigY.
Slumlords raking it in from section 8 housing.
Funeral home business gets major increase in business.
Hire more police officers as many will be killed.
Firearms sales to skyrocket as people see need to protect themselves.
Property values to go up in Mooslim free zones.
Gated communities sell homes at full capacity.

See, every cloud has a silver lining.

Ask the Eagle why they do not attach a name to their editorials. They have a bit of a double standard at the Eagle as does most of the rest of the special interest sector of the city of Pittsfield, Ma.

Editorials are the responsibility of the editorial board, led by Bill Everhart. You can assume he signs off on it.

you can also bet that the editorials have the tacit approval of the owners, both former and current. You can only write so many editorials that piss off your boss before you are fired.

So since Mr. Everhart has been around for so many years implies the ownership basically agrees with him.

But the editorial is not the opinion so much of one person, but of the paper. That is why it isn’t signed. it is not the opinion of one man, but the group as a whole.

Of course Mr. Everhart lives in Dalton and the owners live in South County. Of course this crap is OK with them – the come into town, work here, never leave 75 South Church and drive home.

How many refugees does the Eagle commit to hire with full benefits?

Butt seriously folks,

Here is what I believe the reality of what’s really going on.

Obama/Hillary created ISIS. They are arming ISIS and helping them to overthrow Syria’s government.

The United States at no time was ever invited by Syria to fight ISIS.

Along comes Russia. Enter Russia.
Russia was invited to help Syria fight US backed ISIS.
Russia is wiping them out.
Obama/Hillary in a display of support is getting these millitary ISIS fighters the hell out of there.

Where to put them?
I know: Pittsfield Massachusetts.
Actually the progressive liberals are spreading them all over this country in just about every single community.

Ticking time bomb?
Sleeper cells?

This is happening folks.
This together with “Black lives Murder” cops, setting up headquarters in the White House will destroy whats left of this country nicely.

Voting in Donald Trump is our only hope.

The destruction of our country, started by Geoge W. Bush and will be finshed by Obama/Hillary Clinton.
Our country has been overtaken by mentally ill thugs.
Just like nazis germany was in the 1940’s.

The article on iBerkshires mentions Pittsfield and surrounding area will accept these Middle East refugees. It doesn’t seem like a Pittsfield only thing. Are their housing needs open to bid,or reserved for connected people or going to be in public housing?

I have no faith in our city to tell us the truth. The refugees could be here right now and we wouldn’t know.

So much for the transparency we were promised.

Somebody has shut down the message board on the Berkshire Eagle site. More than likely local politicians, including Mr. Krol, had something to do with it. After the huge public outcry against refugees coming to this area, they decided to shut down free speech. Mr Krol got on all the local media sites and said the public is onboard with the refugees coming to this area. Does anybody remember hearing anything about it or even being asked our opinion about it? The first we heard anything about it was a couple of days ago. It’s outrageous.

Did McCandless release the numbers on how many additional students bailed on the failing Pittsfield school system this year? Heard it was embarrassing to say the least. Guess the mayor does not want to talk about it either. I can understand why and don’t expect the Eagle s crack investigative reporter to write anything about it.

Let’s hide under the bed and hope the story goes away until the refugees get here and bring the number up.

Pat
Pat

Believe me the local politicians would shut down this site if they could. They don’t want people to talk and share information and opinions. They want to create the belief in the minds of the public that everyone is okay with the refugees coming here so that everyone will get on board and think like your kindly neighbors.

This isn’t racism. It’s common sense when people are being radicalized to kill people that being careful is what we should be doing. Not being careful would be crazy.
