That’s your job, your right, your privilege, and your duty. Do it! Just friggin’ do it! We exercised the franchise on Friday. Before we filled out the ballot, we paused, as we do each time we cast our choices, with this image: An 18-year-old soldier, scared to death, pouring out of a Higgins boat on D-Day. That kid risked his life so you could have a say today. Don’t waste his life. Be sure to vote.
With that, THE PLANET will be taking a much-needed R&R for the remainder of the week. We’ll be back on Monday, Nov. 14. Until then, you’re on your own. Your comments on the results are welcome below and all week. Please (he asked, futilely) be sharp, incisive, intelligent, and respectful.

Thereis no vacation for the Kapanski’s. We will know early who wins the Presidency.
At my polling place there weren’t many voters like the crowds in North Carolina and Florida. Will be interested as Massachusetts is democratic and vote for Clinton compared to the other states where record voting might reflect an uptick for Trump, we’ll see. Will be surprised if the election isn’t close as well. TRUMP tweeted that there are voting machine problems throughout the Country.
The only problem with voting machines anywhere in the country other than the usual ones is that people with little T-Rex hands cant use them.

Totally off subject, but does anyone know why radio station 104.3 FM one of our local radio stations isn’t working? It has local talk shows, other local information and the Talking Information Network, etc. I haven’t heard any mention of why it just suddenly went off the air.

Just got done voting. Couldn’t help but notice every question had a simple summary for if you voted Yes or No. That is except question 5. It just shows the lengths Pittsfield will go to get there tax increase. Hopefully this will not have an effect on the voting.
Joe, question 5 is a vote that will tell the rest of the state what kind of funding goes forward to broken down cities,and how Mayor’s will raise revenue, in other words, sleep with one eye open and hold on to your wallet.

Shelly I’m against it and have read up on it. The problem is some voters are not as up to date on the question. That is why a summary at the bottom would help, like all of the other questions. A yes vote is for property owners to be taxed, on top of your already high property tax and your 28 year New Taconic tax. A no vote is not to be taxed extra.
It must be a parachute in case the no vote wins. They know if it passes no one will question it. I actually asked the poll monitors this. First person had no clue and the second said that it is a local question and may not require the YES/NO summary

Thank you. I will. I am going to try calling some local radio stations and see if they know anything about this problem. I love listening to 104.3 at work and can’t use my computer for that at work. Instead I use my MP3 player. I will listen to it on my computer at home though.

Congratulations to President Elect Trump, Dan Valenti for his correct prediction and those of you who supported him.
My worse fear has come true, and it’s not that Mr. Trump won. One party has control of the Presidency and both houses of Congress.
While I think this will be good for my own pocketbook, I fear the deregulation that will follow will cause one of the worse financial collapses in history in four to six years. The rich will get richer and the poor will suffer.
The irony of all this is the lower middle class will have done this to themselves.

And picture America as a large boat. And picture Donald Trump as a large rouge elephant. We have, for whatever reason, brought this rouge elephant on to the boat. And several other rouge elephants (Juliani, Christie, Gingrich and son Eric) followed him on board.
Just how in the hell are we going to control this herd? What checks and balances are left now? What is going to stop Trump and his massive ego from making up his own set of rules?

Councilor Clairmont is correct. Market and the Global effects are going to be challenged and it is starting already under the Obama Administration. It’s going to be an interesting four year ride. Don’t forget his huge hands will soon be on the nuclear codes. With that being said, if and it will be a huge if’ he can bring job growth back to the U S we might have a chance to survive. Trump claimed to have the most experienced and intellectual minds, so how does will this affect Global Markets which are already entrenched woth massive U S Capital. The other question is, where are Companies going to get the Capital to move back to the U S and if the U S is required to pay for this transition have these great minds figutpred how to pay for it? It will be an enormous expense.
