AG’s DEAL WITH MUSEUM LAZY, SLEEZY, & CORRUPT … plus … A LETTER TO THE EDITOR THE EAGLE REFUSED TO PRINT

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION FEB. 23-25, 2018) — Lazy.

Peel to its core the rotten onion of the Berkshire Museum‘s auction of its soul in the form of its best works of art, and you find sloth worthy of its designation as a cardinal sin. The museum’s “deal” with AG Maura Healey allows its board to hang out the “Gone Fishin'” sign, freed from its major responsibility of fund-raising to provide operating funds and endowment money.

The institution’s board proved inept at raising capital, but it sure could spend money, ringing up more than $11 million in debt over the past decade in its transformation of the facility from a revered sanctuary of art and natural science into a plasticized Chuck E. Cheese. Ask yourself: What self-respecting directors run a business into the ground for a decade then “go Judas” for “30 pieces of silver” to cover their bumbling?

Sleezy.

THE PLANET asks what you all have been asking, a question that has not only been not sufficiently explained but one that, when you ask it for the record, has informed sources turning “D&D” — that’s street talk for “deaf and dumb.” Yes, the red flag went up on Healey’s 11th-hour deal that lets go “Shuffleton’s Barber Shop” and dozens of the museum’s most valuable works but skins the citizens of Berkshire County with a razor stropped on back of thousand-dollar bills. It’s funny, though, how typically loquacious sources talk big off the record but shrink when you want to use their attributed wisdom. They expect the turnip-truck investigative journalist to take all the credit — and heat.

——— 000 ———

According to one statehouse source, the deal is “a classic quid pro quo.” That’a Latin for “You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours, and we’ll both stab Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski in the back.” If true, it would help explain the last-second reversal from the AG, a triple-axle spin in morality akin to a school superintendent coming out in favor of child porn.

The deal allows the museum to raise $55 million from the sale of art. It would use the licitly illicit money for operating and endowment costs. Moreover, it conveniently excuses the museum’s incompetent directors from doing their job of legitimate fundraising while at the same time expunging a decade-long record of financial double-dealing and fiduciary depravity. Does the money include a laundered “finder’s fee” that might find its circuitous way into the fund-raising efforts of prominent political animals? THE PLANET cannot say. We have only learned, through the years, to QUESTION EVERYTHING.

While we’re in a querying mood, why have Pittsfield mayor Linda Tyer, Rep. Tricia Farley-Bouvier, city councilors, museum employees, and others in the know on rug row been so silent? We also wonder why The Berkshire Eagle suddenly took the starch out of its theretofore good job of getting underneath the glossy veneer of the story? What made it back off in favor of feel-good PR? Did Eagle reporter Larry Parnass become “the man who knew too much?”

Corrupt.

We need not define that. We only wish that the people with knowledge of this deal’s pus would bronze the cowardice of their convictions, preserving them but rendering them unfit for future use.

May all your Rockwells be Normans.

——— 000 ———

TIME NOW TO OPEN THE LETTERS BAG.

Here’s one sent to The Boring Broadsheet that The BB refused to publish:

A balanced editorial policy would make The Eagle better.

The letter by Al Diesz on 1/18/18 addresses the extreme bias of Eagle editorial policy. At a recent meeting where Publisher Fredric Rutberg talked about all the changes made to the Eagle I briefly spoke with him after the event. I commended him regarding emphasis on local news, and bringing much of the work in-house and performed by local people. Then I broached the subject of the extreme editorial policy. My purpose was to suggest that a balanced policy would make the paper more interesting (and successful) than the left wing echo chamber it has become.

My goodness! The vehement response surprised me. He claimed that the policy was completely unbiased, and that the numerous left wing syndicated columnists carried by the Eagle were not his responsibility. Funny. I thought that a Publisher was responsible for everything he prints. I can’t believe that Mr. Rutberg is ignorant of the nature of the Eagle. So, it must be his personal opinion, and that he is brazenly using the Eagle to push it.

My cousin who rose to be a renowned judge in Norfolk VA had a favorite saying.

“It’s nice to be a judge. From 9 to 3;30, I’m right.”

Of course the beauty of these words is the unspoken notion that at other times his opinion is no better than that of the common man.

Hey Fred! Your court is not in session.

Pittsfield politics is NOT ruled by the people! The Berkshire Museum shakedown is Exhibit A in insider politics! This shakedown ranks right up there with the Consent Decree agreement between Gerry Doyle and Jack Welch. It is up there with the failed Berkshire Eagle Civic Authority proposal. This done deal leaves a legacy of shame over the political hacks who run the show in Pittsfield politics!

DemoRats think that schools/gun free zones make “the children” safe. When in fact it makes a haven for lunatics to open fire without fear of being fired upon.

They can run their murderous rampages free from fear of being gunned down.

So….. what is the DemoRat solution? Take away/strip everyone of the right to protect themselves. To bear arms. Totally fucked up thinking.

How about teachers arming themselves? At least save some lives. Instead of these psychopaths gunning down dozens, stop them in their tracks. Take em out quickly.

Gun free zones are insanity. DemoRats are insane.
Detroit has the strictest gun control laws in the country. Yet it has thee most gun crime in the nation. Think…..

All the while they keep pushing these psychotropic mind control drugs on young ones. Because “God” didn’t create them with enough seratonin levels, blah, blah, blah…….

Taking away guns is taking away the last freedom you have. Just watch what happens when they finally do it. You will all be sitting ducks.

Let’s show up, I’ll be there just to see the water master adjust some ego’s, including the administration, who continue to drop the ball. The Toter issue has turned into a joke also.

Cos

The largest Toter will be to hard to handle and the smaller ones would probably not be enough volume, why do I keep thinking either way, taxpayers will cram everything In one creating no recycling. Don’t like the extra burden of buying excess bags and separate for household items, although that’s debatable. I to will be supporting no to the EPA and C.owncil Tuesday night. And hope the Water Wizard gets to speak at some point,he does know what he’s talking about. Fix the roads!!!!!! Is right.

Regarding the toter, the smaller version. This one may work for most people most of the time for regular garbage. But what about when you have a larger piece like a plastic toy or a couple cushions that take up half your can? This could happen often and then you would not have room for all your regular garbage. No flexibility for house cleaning weeks or spring or fall cleaning.

Is the plan to force people into buying extra space/bags knowing ahead of time this will be largely the case? If so what a devious crappy way to run government, although maybe not surprising from this administration.

Capping collection is a good idea. Our overgenerous plan is exploited by out-of-towners and abused by residents. The city could easily save $300K/year in disposal costs. Unfortunately that toter system is so expensive it would add about $300K/year in costs, yielding no net savings.

Mike,
Capping trash collection at a tiny 45 gal toter is at best extreme and at worst idiotic.
All the families on my street do a great job recycling yet they always have at least 1, usually more, 65 gallon toter for their trash. They take darn good care of their kids and their properties so they have alot to dispose of.
A 95 gal toter for recyling is ridiculous. Not sure how I’m even going to get that into my garage.

Mike Ward
Mike Ward
Reply to  NIB

I didn’t say 45 gallons for trash was ideal but I can say my household of four rarely fills our 50 gallon garbage can. I could get by with 45 gallons and would occasionally need to buy an overflow bag. I agree that many people in older neighborhoods like mine would struggle to store the 95 gallon recycle toter. That could be reduced to 45 if we stayed with weekly collection.
But again the real issue is the numbers don’t work with toters. Just go back and listen to former DPW Director Bill Forestell speak at the public hearing. He studied the numbers carefully and panned the plan as a money pit.

hahaha, save? The government snatches up any money available, after falsifying the property assessment is already giving raises on top of raises, retroactively even so the payouts are nice and fat, and has enough plans that it can easily spend every dollar that residents currently possess or ever will earn

NIB

Reply to  dusty

Have one pizza party and the boxes, which are not recyclable, will fill up a 45 gal toter in a minute. Good luck with the rest of your garbage. You’ll have to pay extra for that.
This is all about forcing extreme recycling down people’s throats and making them pay out of their pockets for trash removal. It’s a way of taxing people outside or property taxes.
Meanwhile, the school system gets every penny they want.

On the subject of local corruption in high places and the failure of The Berkshire Eagle to report on same, The Eagle has yet to print anything on this development affecting one of South County’s most politically-connected powers-that-be, Great Barrington attorney and now-retired deputy fire chief, Ed McCormick.
Here’s the Web headline and summary published by The Berkshire Record, South County’s weekly newspaper:
‘McCormick surrenders law license to avoid disciplinary action’,
By Cory Willey
GREAT BARRINGTON — Prominent attorney Edward G. McCormick has resigned from the Massachusetts Bar Association, surrendering his license to practice law as a result of disciplinary sanction.
The Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers accepted McCormick’s resignation on Feb. 5, according to the board’s office.
Legal experts told the Record that McCormick chose to surrender his license rather than risk being disbarred from the association following disciplinary hearings conducted by the board of overseers.
McCormick began practicing law in 1971, specializing in real estate, estate planning and business. At the height of his career he was the powerful “go-to guy” to get permission from local boards.

I do know one thing, the Eagle continually leaves out important information concerning City Finances and NEEDLESS projects and funding, imagine you have a reporter never doing a story other than berate an intellectual Industrial mind such as Gaetani, who continually shows his expertise and thoughts on how to keep this City from becoming bankrupt, that’s you Ms. bubble Delicious Chewer.Stop trying to discredit people by not writing the truth. Gaetani has forgotten more that most people know

After watching the Latest Gaetani News Hour I can see what many are talking about. the man is brilliant, period. To bad the assclowns that throw stones don’t realize it. No one compares to his knowledge concerning all aspects of these projects ready to bankrupt the City, which is probably the intent.

Oh, and Bubble Gum the Wiz is not done with you yet. You can’t possibly be in two places at one time, unless you were beamed up like Spock?

Gaetani is an original, self made, smart knows his profession, built the water pla Tes and many others and continues to get shunned by the City Administration, some City Councilors, the Mayor and any good old boy or newspaper reporter that he would bury in any kind of debate. they are afraid of the Builder,Co-inventor, former teacher, as said before is just a brilliant Individual, watch his next show and learn from the Master and at Tuesday’s CC Meeting.

Jonathan Melle it’s refreshing to see you finally acknowledge that Jim Ruberto is still running the political machine in Pittsfield.

Jimmy Ruberto lives in Naples, Florida! He should retire from Pittsfield politics! Ruberto’s regime has done enough damage to Pittsfield over the years!

Can you believe one of the City Elite on the City Council wanted to vote to appropriate 80 million for a water project ( not needed) and did not even know what the rates for the taxpayer, just approve it and stuff millions into debt down the throats of the taxpayer. Now thats what you call ignorance at it’s best. Fix the roads!

This person is likely to just be doing what he/she was instructed to do. Some of these councilors would not even be on the council without the support, financial and otherwise, of the special interests. And they need to be doing as they are told. They are owned and boxed in as to what they can say or do.

You can tell by what they say in the face of incontrovertible evidence. They out themselves and look really stupid in the process. They were not in line when moral compasses were handed out.

Let me pick a cheese to go with this whine.

” . . . would have been remiss.” Who says this anymore?

Look, Adam, they never would have obtained the FISA warrant without the fake dossier. You must admit that.

FISA application was rejected the first time, which is quite rare. But then they presented the dossier . . .

“Steele’s reporting”? is a crock, we now know. Feed it to Yahoo!News? News for Teenyboppers is more like it. And then cite that as corroboration in the FISA application?

“FBI never paid Steele for this reporting.” Yeah, but somehow mad cash was funneled to Fusion GPS by the Clinton Campaign.

“rushed a party-line vote” Oh, but, it is OK when the Dems do it–such as millions of times in the last 80 years.

Nunes didn’t inform FBI/DOJ until Wray came over to look at it–and then Wray immediately FIRED MCCABE! Gotta tell you something.

Well, yeah, if, I say if, the Russians had to release thousands of Clinton’s emails, someone had to because she wouldn’t, duh.

Right, FBI “never would have applied for a FISA warrant”–without the FAKE dossier, ditto duh.

I do not give a flying frying pan what officials and judges were appointed by what presidents of what party. Either these people acted/decided correctly and honestly or they didn’t. Indict them if they are suspected of committing crimes; thrice duh.

Steele was hired by CLINTON, CLINTON, say it, CLINTON.

Just because the FBI never actually paid Steele for the dossier–oh, just see above.

You got problems if you’re citing Yahoo!News on anything . . .

Fact is that Ohr’s wife worked at Fusion GPS and McCabe’s wife was a Clinton-supported crony.

Strozk and Ms. Page emails and texts show that there was institutional bias at the FBI against Trump. Duh, what? fourth time now?

We’re still waiting for evidence that the Russians affected the outcome of the 2016 election. They tried? Well, Shazam!, so have have lots of other countries and entities.

Thank God Clinton wasn’t elected or all of this would have been buried. The Clintons and other Dems would have just gone their merry way of continuing this deception on the public.

It is the Clintons and the Obamas who did it. We are looking into it to see if they shot Lincoln as well. Stay tuned.

Have no fear,Gaetani is going to take the Prince of Taxation and giveaways down, along with anyone who wants to crucify the taxpayer going forward. Better have more than fear and loathing when going up against the builder of the water plants, and better be prepared against one of the foremost water experts,in the world. And Shakes, I mean Fritz,or is it Heckler, go on his show, you have been invited, but bring some diapers because you’ll be soiling you’re diapers faster than a jackrabbit.

Heard the city was setting off fireworks for the 10×10 event. If true who paid for the fireworks? Hope is was not the taxpayers cuz we need that money for toters and kiosks and shot spotters etc etc etc.

I hope we are not paying for them. Figure some other way of celebrating… bomb fire, whatever. Pets hate them, those suffering from PTSD hate them, the elderly hate them. It used to be reserved for July 4th. At least then people can expect them and plan accordingly. It sounds like a war zone from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

So sick of the over the top fireworks in this city. In February? So ridiculous. I dread the warmer weather because of the daily fireworks displays coming from everybody’s backyard. This city really needs to crack down on this craziness.

Anybody who has money for fireworks in February has money to burn. Who are these wealthy folk and can we get them to use the money for the homeless or hungry people instead of instant gratification?

If Gaetani is not allowed to participate for the taxpayers, then this gentleman will be deeply upset.
