PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

NEWS FLASH! THIS JUST IN TO THE PLANET’s NEWS DESK: SOURCES TELL US THAT “HUGE LAYOFFS” COMING IN NOVEMBER AT CRANWELL RESORT. THIS WILL INCLUDE MANY  LONG-TERM EMPLOYEES. YOU READ IT HERE FIRST. NOW TO OUR REGULAR COVERAGE.

———- 000 ———-

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY AUG. 27, 2018) — Gen. George Armstrong Custard, famous for his utterance “Injuns? They ain’t no Injuns in these heah parts,” died at Little Big Horn while sharpening an arrowhead with his ribcage. It was an act too late for muskets and too soon for The Food Channel. But what about Big Horn itself? Who died there? Answer: Could it be city councilor Earl Persip? Depends on who you listen to.

Persip drives a silver Dodge Ram 1500 “Big Horn” with a Hemi, twin exhausts, and a tow hitch. A vehicle fitting that description recently parked at Paul Rich & Sons Furniture on North Street on or about Aug. 8. A person fitting Persip’s description was seen near the vehicle, sources say, performing an act of civic duty THE PLANET doesn’t think relates to his responsibilities as an at-large councilor. We could be wrong, since this is Pittsfield.

The act? Dumping campaign lawn signs.

First, though, a note on the vehicle. The “Big Horn” is one of those classic monster-size pickups — you know, the kind of over-the-top wheels so popular in gas-guzzling America. It’s the type of vehicle that suggests “mid-like crisis” like when you see a graying Baby Boomer driving  a red Corvette. You know what they say about owners of huge vehicles. They may drive a Big Horn, but they pack a “little one.” Size isn’t everything, however, or so they say.

———- 000 ———-

Persip has been the latest in an endless series of do-nothing councilors elevated in rigged elections to do the bidding of The Suits. His major accomplishments thus far? Cashing in on his last name, displaying a willingness to obey orders, and keeping his mouth shut.  He’s in his first term, granted, but when did learning curves resemble the northeast approach to the top of Everest?

Persip admitted to the sign dump when asked by THE PLANET, calling it “a simple misunderstanding.” He told us his wife “picked up a few signs at Andrea’s [Harrington] fundraiser last month. They got damaged, so I threw them away. I spoke to Andrea about it, and she understood what happened.” Persip added that he’s “happy that the police look into those things. We all know how much campaign signs cost and how many disappear every election.”

We asked him how the signs got damaged. He said signs can get damaged in many ways, a statement that ducked the question. Signs are made of a water-resistant, coated laminate. They are tough and durable. They don’t just “get damaged.”

Harrington backed up Persip’s story: “Earl has been an enthusiastic supporter and strongly encouraged me to run way back in February and has been at my campaign events,” she told THE PLANET. “I received a report that someone put my lawn signs in a dumpster behind Paul Rich. I also received a photo of the vehicle with a plate. Since a number of my signs have gone missing, I filed a police report. It turns out that Earl had placed two of my damaged lawn signs into the dumpster and this incident was a misunderstanding.”

One of Harrington’s strongest supporters, however, sees Persip differently: “Earl has been playing off support for Harrington, but is a double agent. Maybe code name: Double-0-Dufus? Earl the Squirrel? If you look back at Persip’s lawn sign locations and key supporters from the 2017 race, there is clear overlap with Caccaviello support. If Persip was trying to put on semi-public ruse of support for Harrington, it didn’t translate among his supporters. In fact, the opposite has been true.”

THE PLANET also heard from sources that it wasn’t two signs but 10. Also, were they only Harrington signs. Paul Caccaviello’s campaign has had a slew of signs disappear. This would certainly fit the pattern of double dealing. If we were in the Cacc camp, we wouldn’t let Persip within 1,000 yards of the door.

From all of this, It appears that:

  1. Signs have been disappearing in unusually high numbers for both the Caccaviello and Harrington campaigns.
  2. Each probably has supporters involved in the act.
  3. Persip got caught with his hands in the cookie jar.
  4. Persip has been acting as a double agent, playing up to both sides. This hedging may cost him his political career.
  5. Caccaviello must still be considered the prohibitive favorite. Harrington has yet to distinguish herself in any substantial way. She grabs headlines for side-show events, but that won’t be nearly enough.

Signgate wasn’t a tempest in a teapot. Let’s call it a Doldrum in a Dumpster.

What dumpster is this? Is Persip authorized to use it for his own garbage?

Where have the Harrington signs disappeared from?

Persip works at the YMCA, next to Paul Rich and Son. His explanation seems plausible. It would seem he’d be aware of the availability and proximity of a nearby dumpster.

If there was something more nefarious going on, you’d think he’d do the dump somewhere less obvious…

You’d think…

So a city councilor just dumped stuff in a nearby business dumpster? So can all citizens use this dumpster or just city councilors? I have a few larger things the Covanta folk will not take.

Did us taxpapers subsidize Covanta with a big tax break via Taxes Tyler? If so Dusty, you should get to dump stuff for free for a year or so.

What does the police report say about this? How many signs were there? If only two, why the need for a dumpster? How does Harrington know it was only two? Persip the perp even said it was a few. Something smells here.

Why did he choose Paul/Rich dumpsters? Does he put all his trash there and if so does he have an agreement with the owner? You would think the paper and metal would have been recycled by a more responsible councilor? Are there really grey squirrels on the moon?

Are we at war with North Korea? Well that answers your question. President Trump and our country had to face that possibility after 8 years of Obama until President Trump met with the North Korean leader and they are on much friendlier terms. Obama left such a mess behind on the world stage. Between appeasing leaders and giving them bundles of money to keep them happy which never worked, he was a terrible leader.

Bullcrap! Thousand of people worked like hell on that Carousel and thousands more donated their hard earned money. If the city took it over they would let it be run by one of their benefactors and it would be just like the Waconah park with the taxpayers funding the operation and the profits being syphoned off and pocketed by some good old boy.

If the city gets it, everyone, including myself, should get their donations back.

I just want to say that I have no stake in this race, nor am I overly interested in politics. I will however say that it is quite disconcerting that whether or not someone threw away lawn signs maliciously or for a true purpose is not news worthy. From what I gather, the purpose of this website is to share your views and pretty much embarrass and mock people, not truly report the news. There is a serious drug epidemic, people are dying; there was a mass shooting just yesterday and you want to focus on Earl Persip and some lawn signs. Life is way too short to worry about what Earl Persip is doing, what he drives or if he packs a “little one; your article is crude and unnecessary.

With that said, I hope that this DA race ends with the most capable candidate in office, because we certainly need it. I am sure that is something we can all agree on.

I have to agree with Nosey. Petty, ignorant people worry about lawn signs and think they indicated votes. But they make a nice distraction over the real issue. For the love of God, where is the outrage over Farley-Bouvier? How is it the BB gets all up on the DA’s office for trying to leave the people with experienced law enforcement rather than mediocre lawyers who vow to support criminals? They have plenty of time to line drive one into Capeless in an editorial. But no editorial aimed at Farley-Bouvier, just a puffball story She has clearly tried to influence the outcome of an election and is being investigated. They completely revised the story line and everyone knows it. Fact: She tried to get Knight to drop out in exchange for a job in Harrington’s office because she wanted a “progressive candidate.” But let’s let that story die down a week before the election and talk about lawn signs.

Dan. Mr Gaetanis stated many times on his TV show and at cc meetings that the mayor and council should fear the taxpayer but it is the other way around here in Pittsfield. Percip personifies a gobsigs backed politician. He is a brainless halfwit without a trace of nervous tissue and is completely servile to the gobsigs network. They wanted some one dumb a they indeed found it. He should stick to passing out towels and jock straps at the Y and resign his council seat. Mr Gaetanis made several attempts to invite Harrington to a DA forum to be held on his Wednesday TV show but she didn’t have the decency to respond. I’m sure Tyer krill mar Hetti moon persip white rivers Bouvier told her that going on his show would be comparable to committing suicide and they were right because the G Man tale in specifics and that is something Harrington is short on.Harrington must be pretty desperate relying on an endorsement from Percip. Dan I think your story about the theft of lawn signs has pretty much sealed percips and Harrington’s fates. Good investigative reporting.

Another slanderous “article”. Mr. Valenti could not find any truth to further his slander so he resorted to childish comments about a truck and relating it to penis size, very unprofessional and immature. What is it anyone’s business what the man drives? Sounds like he has a modest normal pickup truck, a big horn ram 1500 is a middle of the line pickup. Did anyone think does he have a need for it? Own a home or properties that a truck is needed for odd jobs? Have the need to tow something? “Gas guzzler” another foolish comment from someone not aware of modern technologies to improve gas consumption.
So when Harrington responded and out right stated that it was a misunderstanding, why wasn’t that good enough?

Also, anyone not understanding the construction of a lawn sign and how the can easily deteriorate with weather has not had many lawn signs in their yard. With the amount of rain, wind and storms we have received over the past month+ makes it extremely plausible that his signs did get ruined.

Time for Mr. Valenti to grow up

Pittsfield voters suffer from the same problem that the far left is suffering from across the country. Pittsfield voters think that if they get rid of one progressive and elect another all of their problems will be solved when the problem is the progressive philosophy.

The far left thinks that if they impeach President Trump their far left agenda will go forward, but they don’t realize that the genie is out of the bottle and there will be opposition from half of this country who reject socialism, open borders, and the silencing of voices that don’t agree with the far left.

I would start by filling the tens of thousands of positions within the various departments that touch immigration.

Then:

A path to citizenship for illegal aliens already in the United States is contingent on certain border security and visa tracking improvements. The plan provides for permanent residence for illegal aliens only after legal aliens waiting for a current priority date receive their permanent residence status and a different citizenship path for agricultural workers through an agricultural worker program.

Business immigration system reforms, focusing on reducing current visa backlogs and fast tracking permanent residence for U.S. university student visa – immigrant graduates with advanced degrees in science, technology, engineering or math also known as the STEM fields.

An expanded and improved employment verification system for all employers to confirm employee work authorization.

Improved work visa options for low-skilled workers including an agricultural worker program.

Pat your analysis is too simplistic. The major problem here in this city and elsewhere is gobsigs. This elitist bunch is composed of both conservatives and progressives and this group always elects individuals who are very shallow and can be manipulated at will. Consider Donna Tod Rivers as an example. She is a lawyer but couldn’t make a living at it. She was approached by the Gobsigs and offered her a 75000 dollar a year no show job for her vote to approve the updates at the sewer plant. She took the bait and does not show a drop of shame for flushing the taxpayer down the drain. We all know that the EPA director Alexandra Dunk scared the day lights out of Tyer and Marchetti to push the council to a vote of approval for the project. Read Dunn’s letter in the eagle today. It should be plainly evident in that letter that she is nothing more than the secretary that Tyer is. Ms Mazzeo Connell Morandi and Gaetanis are waiting word from Dunn as to when she is coming here but no response.Read her letter in today’s eagle and you will zee that she can only deal with light weight information.Another light weight Gobsigs with no real skills just like Tyer and three quarters of the council.Pat these are the types we have to weed out of government

As far as the Mueller investigation finding criminality; 20+ indictments/convictions/guilty pleas already is a pretty good start. The other stuff you mention have all already been investigated…and passed on for prosecution, including the “fake dossier” you are all so fond of tossing out there. That is NOT the reason the Trump campaign is being investigated. Just look at Manafort and Flynn’s profoundly deep connections to Mother Russia, and what was accomplished on Russia’s behalf so far in the Trump administration. As Dan always says, follow the money.

Mr. G,
I stand by my previous comments.
You have failed to prove what criminal activity President Trump is accused of – NONE!
You may want to direct your moral outrage at your own Democratic Party, the Obama Administration and the Clinton Crime Family.
Perhaps you’ve heard that Hillary’s private email server was hacked by the Chinese – that would be ALL of her incoming and outgoing conversations – which most likely have also been passed on to the North Koreans, etc. She should be charged with espionage! See the Daily Caller for that info.
Perhaps you’ve heard that Dem. Diane Feinstein has had a Chinese spy working in her office for the past 15 years – how is it that the FBI missed that fact?
And I will add that your Factchecker article is out-of-date (11/2017) – please note that the Uranium One scandal and Clinton involvement is still under investigation by the DOJ.

Harrington is making a huge mistake by covering for Persip’s lies. And if she does not win, she can look back to this SIGNGATE incident as contributing to it.

Truth is always the best way to go.

You bet she has already lost votes because of this.

If you support candidate and are friendly to boot, wouldn’t you tell said candidate what is going on with the signs before you trash them, just sayin.

So Trump’s handlers had to get on their knees and BEG him to lower the flag to half mast for an American war hero. I thought he LIKED veterans. He spat right in the eye of EVERY American veteran that ever put on a uniform. I thought he could not go lower than when he caged little children but I guess there is NO level low enough for him. Psychiatrist are now saying that that Trump hates himself and he brings scorn on himself as a form of self punishment. That must be it.

2nd suspect arrested in connection to attempted murder in Washington last week. Both perps arrested are under 25 so their brains are not fully developed so it’s not their fault.

How true, Enema! Harrington should use this on her campaign.

No signs should be allowed,Harrington was heavy handed with signs and property owners put them away. Most candidates ask you to let their campaign know if you want a sign….no more signs law or ordinance

That would be an atack on the 1st amendment. You don’t have to be rich to have lawn signs. If people believe in your message they will contribute large and small amounts to help you. It’s only lazy people who don’t want to do any work that don’t want lawn signs.

Not a bad idea. Signs cost $$ which slants the election in favor of those with the most bucks. It would help even the playing field for candidates who don’t get contributions from the special interests.

Enema. Can you name the person who petitioned the council to do away with lawn signs to level the playing field for individuals who are not backed by gobsigs and their money?

Signs don’t vote.

Also, the precedent set by Reed v. The Town of Gilbert, AZ would have a ban on political lawns signs ruled unconstitutional upon the slightest of challenges.

No shit signs don’t vote but they are a form of advertising which helps sway votes. Otherwise they wouldn’t be doing it. And I’ve seen plenty of these signs on city property which can be regulated.

Political signs should definitely not be allowed on publicly owned property.

You have a right to display lawn signs. But it didn’t matter to me how many Tyre or Bianchi signs I saw, I voted for the G man even though he has Trump Derangement Syndrome. I figured it wouldn’t influence anything in Pittsfield. Maybe the next election he’ll take contributions and get lawn signs. People need to know he is a serious candidate. I’d consider throwing a few bucks his way not because I want influence or favors. I just would want him to do what he says he would do.

The local District Attorney’s office is more about holding power than it is fighting crime. They can protect the powerful and deflect investigations. Anyone want to start a list of past incidents that wound up lost in the fog of time?

In the next couple few days you will see all kinds of comments on the DA’s race. It’s not going to matter at all because anyone who’s following and is a so called “super voter” (and a Democrat) isn’t going to be swayed by someone blogging using an anonymous name. Spare us of any more mud-slinging.

I don’t often agree with TSC, but he is right about speeding on Williams St. The nitwits are in such a hurry to get to the shopping plazas that they don’t give a shit about their speed.
