HARRINGTON SUPPORTERS WHISTLING IN THE CEMETERY WITH ‘HE CAN’T WIN’ THEORY … FACT IS, CACC CAN WIN

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY SEPT. 26, 2019) — When acting Berkshire County district attorney Paul Caccaviello decided to seek the office he now holds via a write-in campaign after losing the Democratic Party primary bid to Andrea Harrington, he surprised a lot of folks, including (and especially) Harrington. Team Harrington has been playing catch up ever since.

Team H’s main tactic has been to say “He can’t win. Impossible. No chance,” repeating it often enough that they might actually begin to believe it themselves. That would be a mistake, partly because of the danger in letting up on the relentless pace of campaigning that brought Harrington the nomination in the first place.

The danger of a letdown looms large because of how Harrington thought she could relax and coast her way to a November coronation. No way that happens now, with Cacc’s dramatic write-in bid capturing the imaginations of those who vote and those who normally wouldn’t vote but now will. To compound the danger, Harrington’s first unofficial “official” move was her now-infamous phone call to Melissa Mazzeo. The rashness of the blunder spoke of panic.

Prior to floating the “He can’t win” strategy, Team Harrington painted Cacc’s move as a kind of insult, as if he were trying to introduce moldy Oreo cookies at a Buckingham Palace duck-and-goose soire. They called him a “sore loser,” ignoring that the electoral system has a provision for just such a write-in or sticker campaign. They said a write-in effort disrespected the primary results, a logical confusion based on the faulty premise that two elections are not separate, which they are, but united.

In fact, Cacciavello’s actions are the opposite of “mocking the system.” In seeking the office as a write-in candidate, he’s playing out the democratic process to its fullest, allowing the broadest participation of the electorate. If Harrington is secure with her narrow win in the primary, she should welcome the chance to prove it was no fluke. Moreover, let us repeat: A primary win is one thing: separate, self-contained, indivisible. The general election opens up entirely new electoral options, one of which — the write-in — Caccaviello has decided to exercise. Could it be “The Players” among Harrington backers betray a tinge of jealousy at Cacc’s bold move, wishing they could “be their own man” the way he is doing with his sticker bid?

———- 000 ———-

He can’t win? THE PLANET says he CAN win. Here are the factor of “how” and “why.”

  • This isn’t the typical “protest” campaign. This one will be conducted by a known name with financial and organizational backing.
  • There will be a full vote across the political spectrum. This gives the county’s 7,614 Republicans a say. THE PLANET never thought we’d see the day where GOP voters would have the chance to decide a local general election. That day has arrived. Caccaviello’s perceived “tough on crime” stance should the greater number of that electoral subset as opposed to Harrington’s supposed “softer, gentler” approach.
  • There are alsi 48,497 unenrolled (independent) voters in the county. They will have more reason to vote in November than they did first time out because in the general election, these people had to declare a party — in this case, Democratic — in order to vote. That required them to ditch their “unenrolled” status, become “Democrats” for a day, then switch back to “unenrolled. In November, independents won’t have to go through the trouble. They can simply vote as they are for the candidate of their choice irrespective of party. The removal of that hassle will bring a flood of independent voters to the polls in November. Turnout could be more than 10,000 new voters.
  • History shows that successful write-in campaigns are conducted in areas with (a) low population and (b) small media markets where advertising is inexpensive. That precisely describes Berkshire County.
  • With only two candidates, Caccaviello will need only to win a simple majority and not a plurality.
  • The Knight Factor: Judith Knight took 5,066 votes in the primary. She is backing Cacc. It follows that most of her supporters will take the cue. They know that Harrington made a major blunder when she asked Pittsfield state rep. Tricia Farley-Bouvier to bully Knight to drop out and endorse Andrea. That alienated the Knight camp, and the general election will provide an opportunity for payback. Yes, and she’s a bitch. Payback, that is.
  • Unlike in the primary, the candidate who wins Pittsfield will win in November. THE PLANET held and still does that Pittsfield, not Williamstown or Great Barrington, holds the key to this election. Cacc’s Pittsfield win in September gives him a huge electoral boost, one that typically is not found in a write-in campaign.
  • The opportunity to make political history should play a small role here. Cacc has a chance to go down in county political annals for the ages. That should provide a small adrenaline boost, and small differences might prove large when officials tally the final vote.

Paul Caccaviello assumes more than just responsibility for a write-in effort. He takes on Dame Victory herself. She stands before him, imposing but ready to be wooed. To win her love, Cacc will have to go courting as fervently as a lovesick lad in spring.

Today, we spelled out “why” Cacc can win this race. In The Weekend Edition, we will present the blueprint for “how.” Stay tuned.

Dan,I think he can blow her away with a large margin of victory.I really can’t see her winning.Bouvier is not helpful and she should hide as she always does after her elections.Harringtons rookie status started to sink in after the vote.Voting for Paul really is the right thing to do.Her as DA makes little sense. His 32 years of of courtroom experience matters.

Cacc’s Facebook page has been the most viewed Berkshire page the past week. Harrington supporters resorting to insults. Republicans and Independents who didn’t vote are coming out of the woodwork because they don’t want Harrington. Go look up Ms. H’s 2011 criminal case official transcript wherein she motioned the court for a mistrial due to her own “ineffective counsel” of her client. The judge declined stating she was willing to take on the case despite not knowing what to do. Her client went to jail, but she still pocketed the retainer/fee. This is the woman who wants to call herself the DA elect. Well, let me say this: the elitists and so-called Progressives from Williamstown to Chartock’s own door in Great Barrington are in for a HUGE surprise. Let’s not forget that Trump has a strong bunch of followers in this county and they’re not voting for any Progressive Democrat. It’s going to be one hell of a dirty ride!

I know 5 people who have posted challenging questions on Caccavielo’s FB page this past week. All have been removed within minutes of submission. That is actually illegal, though a lawsuit would be pain in the ass. Doesn’t even matter. Caccavello is done.

It’s a First Amendment issue. His personal FB page is one thing, but his “political” page is different. Getting rid of abusive or threatening posts is fine, but getting rid of anything negative amounts to restricting the free speech of those of involved. Cases are being brought all over the country, and the plaintiffs win every time. Look em’ up.

As I said, would be a major headache to pursue and they weren’t my comments so wouldn’t be my fight, but there it is.

I was posting on http://www.pittsfield.com which is “independent” web site financed by City of Pittsfield and owned by
iBerkshire. iBerkshire editor Tammi Daniels admited: ” Yes! City pays us for advertisements, but we are independent:))”
But as soon as I critisized left progressive City Councilors and their old boys club –Tammi Daniels blocked me from posting completely!!! They simply blocked by computer ID.
Such a nice “independent” media–iBerkshire:))

VN.At last nights cc meeting the Gman singled out I Berk and the boring broad sheet as being the criminals who have with held information from the tax and rate payers as to the blood bath that is coming for city residents with future water and sewer rates. He named Andy McKeever of I Berk. And Amanda Drane of the Eagle as public enemies number 1. If these were good news organizations there is no way that the Gman wouldn’t be listened to but these two buffoons are in the administrations and the bulk of the councils back pocket. But fear not the Wiz has a couple of tricks up his sleeve and when he plans to use them they will know about it. After all the Wiz wasn’t born yesterday. He is all about stealth. When someone thinks they have the drop on the wiz he let’s them think they have won but the minute they let there guard down bye bye. It’s surprising how comfortable these incompetent politicians feel knowing the number of incompetents the wizard has finished but I guess they feel safe but when the wiz comes calling it will be lights out. Everyone can bank on this. He has accomplished everything he has attempted and a few crippled incompetent politicians will just be iceing on the cake.

It’s more like the people running the Caccaviello page got tired of slander from Krol and his dirty band of Harrington champions. Such fine people. There’s his restaurant pal who was convicted of child porn, the one whose kid threatened to blow up a school, the one who stole clients from his co. and paid millions under order of Judge Ford, the bankrupt financial adviser, the city counselor whose brother was convicted of child rape…and of course, our own rep, TFB who tried to cut another woman out of the race and is under investigation for ethics violations. Did I get them all? Do the good people of the Berkshires deserve better? Then they better vote.

Harrington is burning up the phone lines trying to bully people into dropping support for Caccaviello. I was at a party over the weekend and there were a few people who knew her from high school at the party. They said she acted the same way then. Some people just don’t learn. Angry Andrea, time to wake up.

I just saw on TV that merkowski is asking for FBI investigation. The pubs have hired Rachael Mitchell to do their dirty work in questioning Kavanaugh and Ford and they want a vote on Friday. What about hearings for other accusers? No one will have to defeat Kavanaugh as the Republicans themselves are doing a good job of it. I believe because of the republicans poor handling of this confirmation process Kavanaugh goose is cooked. This loss will lead to a blue wave in Nov. and it looks more and more likely that the Dems will take both houses but definitely the House. Our country is a mess and hopefully we can return to some semblance of sanity after November.

Cacc’s “tough” v. H’s “softer” approach on crime: Neither one is working in Berkshire County! North Adams is #1 and Pittsfield #9 in all of Massachusetts for violent crime in 2016, as cited by the FBI.
When people and small businesses look to move to or stay in a community or region, they look at statistics such as violent crime. Who in their rational mind would move to or stay in North Adams or Pittsfield given Berkshire County’s bad boy reputation for violence?
All of this feuding between the 2 political faction has not produced any solutions to ending the violence in Berkshire County!
If I was running for Berkshire County District Attorney, I would point out the loss of hundreds of living wage jobs and the corresponding rise in poverty, violent crime, and population loss.

The reason Boston, Holyoke, New Bedford, Worcester and all the other likely suspects don’t have high crime stats is simple. Because they don’t report them! It’s too commonplace and too much trouble, and besides, it makes them look bad. I mean, really, do you think North Adams tops Dorchester? Come on. Part of the reason our cities report is because we have a tough on crime approach and that’s a cooperative effort across law enforcement. We do not have a bad boy rep for anything other than that if you sell drugs or commit a violent crime here you are going to jail.

Here are a few other things that Mr. Trump has done:

• Appointed Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch and more than 75 other constitutionally sound federal judges, 30 of which are serving.

• Reinstated an expanded Mexico City Policy blocking foreign aid from being used for abortions.

• Cracked down on illegal immigration and “sanctuary cities.” As Attorney General Jeff Sessions put it: “The lawlessness, the abdication of the duty to enforce our laws, and the catch and release policies of the past are over.”

• Issued an order killing two federal regulations for every new one. In actuality, 16 were cut for every new one in his first year, saving billions.

• Engineered a historic tax cut that will save money for more than 80 percent of American households.

• Withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement, ending the threat of U.S. governance by international bureaucrats.

• Reversed onerous Obama environmental rules that gave the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ham-handed authority to destroy the coal industry and abrogate landowners’ rights.

• Kick-started America’s energy sector by curtailing regulations, facilitating the Keystone XL Pipeline and opening up vast federal areas to oil and gas exploration.

• Presided over an economic and stock market boom, lowered unemployment and brought manufacturing jobs back to America from overseas.

• Rebuilt the nation’s military, destroyed ISIS and faced down North Korea’s “Rocket Man.”

• Issued an order enforcing First Amendment protections for religious liberty.

• Restored the freedom of military chaplains to espouse biblical morality, and essentially reversing Mr. Obama’s transgender military policy.

• Revoked the Education Department’s order that public schools allow gender-confused males access to girls’ restrooms and locker rooms.

• Cracked down on sex trafficking. President Trump signed a law allowing states to move against sex-ad Internet sites, and the Justice Department on April 6 seized and shut down Backpage.com, which carried ads for prostitution, including trafficked children.

• Overhauled the mismanaged Veterans Administration and giving veterans more health care choices.

• Replaced Obamacare incrementally, beginning with a repeal of the individual mandate.

• Imposed sanctions on Venezuela’s socialist dictatorship and revising Mr. Obama’s deals with communist Cuba.

• Recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and repairing damage that Mr. Obama did to the U.S.-Israel relationship.

• Worked with Central American nations to crack down on MS-13 gangs.

OK, let’s stop here, though it only scratches the surface.

A question for Mr. Trump’s conservative critics, including some well-meaning evangelicals who rightly express concern over character: Would you really prefer to have a “more presidential” chief executive who promotes socialism, open bordeers, abortion, sexual anarchy and the criminalization of Christianity?

Here are just a few likely outcomes had Mrs. Clinton won:

• An explosion in government funding for abortion.

• The LGBT political agenda on steroids, with the Justice Department attacking Christian business people who won’t bow to Baal.

• Tax increases — not a tax cut — to fund a vast expansion of nanny government.

• Obamacare morphing into a single-payer, socialist government monopoly.

• Federal agencies like the EPA and the IRS re-weaponized against political opponents.

• More radical judges like Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. Maybe even Chai Feldblum on the Supreme Court.

• Hordes of new federal bureaucrats drawn from the ranks of MoveOn.org, NARAL, the ACLU, the Human Rights Campaign and the Women’s March.

• “Pink hat day” throughout the federal government on Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger’s birthday. (No reported plan; it just makes sense.)

• Massive illegal immigration, along with the Justice Department attacking states that have strong voter ID laws.

• A shutdown of all inquiries into Clinton corruption, such as missing emails, Russian money flowing into the Clinton Foundation or the Clinton-Russian connection in the 2016 election.

• A naive foreign policy that would have emboldened Russia, China, North Korea and Iran to test American resolve.

Finally, think back to Election Night 2016 and what passed for reporting. Instead of the undisguised gloom over Mr. Trump’s victory, a Hillary win would have produced smug grins and giggles all around, except at Fox.

Say what you will about Mr. Trump. He spared us that and much more.

Bullshit…all of it. He replaced the ACA, by repealing the mandate?!? The Republicans did no replacing. They took political cover in doing something negative while actually accomplishing nothing. And they have NO plan to do “something much betger” as the idiot president brags they will. Face down North Korea?!? He GAVE a heartless, ruuthless dictator exactly what he wanted , attention and equal footing on the world stage with the US, and got bubkas in return. The stock market boom is a product of corporate buybacks from companies spendi g their huge tax breaks to make share ho,ders and executives wealthier instead of investing in actual Growth. I defy you toname a manufacturing job brought back to the US. And you like coal? Even the people who produce coal do not like coal. Trump presiding over the dismantling of clean air acts, clean water act and opening vast areas to drilling will be seen as truly criminal in the future, if it isn’t already. And are you seriohsly gonna brag about the VA and veteran health care? He has cut there dramatically too. Trump has already perhaps irreversibly turned the US over to the super wealthy, the corporate masters and the Russians! What ever happened to the Republicans being hawkish on Russia?!? Your list is a list of failures made to sound like accomplishments, which is what Donnie does on a daily basis. With the exception of the christian fundamentalists and the super wealthy, everyone else has been screwed!

From what I have seen of her background, supporters of Harrington should be worrying about crime in Pittsfield and North Adams becoming even worse due to her inexperience. Lack of an actual economy in this area is a big reason for all of the crime too, but local politicians and local media refuse to acknowledge this basic truth.

Good analysis Dan on the majority plurality thing. Use the 2016 election Hillary 65,845,063 won the majority, Donald won the plurality 62,980,160, meaning she won the popular vote. We don’t have an electoral college in Berkshire county but a similar scenario. Andrea won a majority and is the Democrat nominee. Paul lost the nomination with impressive numbers. The larger population areas Pittsfield, North Adams , Adams Dalton, Lee he needs to be strong. No one knows at this point. Without Judy and most likely more voters, go for it!

Correction to one of your bullet points, Dan. They no longer require you to officially declare yourself Democrat or Republican ‘for a day’ at the voting booth for a primary. When you are listed as unenrolled, they just ask you what ballot you want.

8 criminal trials in 12 years, one of which she complained to the judge that she was incompetent, another Judge Rutberg (the most liberal judge ever) shut her down halfway through a motion telling her to come prepared next time. A Facebook page that stated “I ran for office before it was cool” before being taken down by her political advisor in Boston. Oh yeah and if you look up the law firm she says she works for the specialize in – Labor Law. She ran for senate two years ago. And look at her huge changes to Office if elected
Drug courts – in existence
Veterans courts – valor act in existence for years and proven by the globe to be abused
On call ADA’s – three decades in existence
She is running on a legislative platform and not a DA’s. Her inexperience is freightening at best and she has proven to only be seeking any elected position she can get. Her phone call to Mazzeo sounds like coinciding with her push for the Berkshire county democratic committee, you know the group of people pushing candidates into position. I heard she almost bit Smitty’s head off when he questioned her on his radio show. I say vote for anybody but Andrea.

And another time, when it was Hailing, I hit what I thought was the golf ball in the high grass, kept wacking it, well you know what it was. I have it on tape, bet it would go viral, it was very funny, but I don’t like to be laugh at, an and was quite embarrassed.

One day after the primary the Gman announced on his show that Cacaviello should run as a write in candidate. The following day He visited Mr Cacaviello and told him that for the benefit of the people of the district he must mount a write in candidacy. The Gman follows politics very carefully and he can spot a phony a million miles away and we all know who he has identified as Buffoons in this city. The bulk of the assholes in this city who back Harrington are the same group the Gman has identified for removal in the next city lection. He states we have enough incompetents holding city elected positions as well as state elected positions and we don’t need a green horn in the DA’s office. The choice for DA is very clear. Let’s hope for a large and very resounding victory for Paul..Experience is everything. Harrington should look for another job that she is qualified for but what that is I don’t know. I need to weed my gardens and I wonder if she is qualified? I have some very rare p!ants and I need someone who is experienced so they do not destroy my gardens.

Lindsay Graham has his mind all made up. Why even have a vote. Throw in Grassley McConnell Cornyn and Scump and you get the picture. Regardless even though they will not allow any witnesses or allow other accusers to speak some key republicans will maybe do the right thing and ask Scump to order FBI investigation. The tougher the republicans are on these women the tougher the voters will be on them in November. Hey all we are looking for is the truth. We know Scump has no use for the truth as is evidenced by his Over 5000 confirmed lies. Like I said in the past this situation is Scumps Swan Song. If Kavanaugh is confirmed before further investigation it is possible we may see something akin to civil war in this country and it won’t end until after Nov. 6 when control of the country is restored by the Democratic Party. I predict a blue Supernova in November. We’ll see

Perhaps will by Calls on the stock. Remember you can make a fortune on a stock when it goes up and can also make a fortune when the price is falling and you can also lose a fortune. This could be a good time to buy for upside but I also believe the stock will go lower but not much lower. Be careful and study everything.

H I’ts high time Mazzeo started to use the Gman’s play book. G has been calling for Turocy’ s hide for a long time because he is incompetent. The Gman is always light years ahead but eventually everyone falls into line. The Gman is in the homestretch and when he is that close you better watch out. He wants that 40_50 million in the taxpayer’s pockets but the powers to be want it for them selves. The Wiz is going to take the bag of candy away from the city Buffoons and give it to the beleaguered taxpayers. What a nice guy the Gman is if you are a taxpayer and if you are on his list of Buffoons it is only a matter of time before you will be relegated to the trash heep where the Gman dumped Gerald Doyle sr. Metcalf and Eddy Engineers and Bruce Colling wood. We all relish experience and G has it. If he loses the battle he still wins and the only losers will be the taxpayers. I would suggest that everyone get behind the Gman because his only goal is to help you..He needs nothing from anyone and doesn’t ask for anything. He loves identifying incompetents and has completed that task. The next step is to get rid of them. He told me to tell everyone on the planet that he loved being a consultant slayer and he likes being a politician slayer even more because the consultants were smart and harder to get rid of but the politicians for the most part are stupid and very easy to dismantle. He also wants me to tell you he is having a lot of fun and politicians may not take him seriously but when the Wiz is ready to strike and you are close by Your Finished.

I agree. The Dems have sunk to a new low. They are just piling everything on Kavanaugh in a last ditch attempt to stop his nomination. It’s gone from an accusation of groping to Kavanaugh now being a serial sexual predator. It’s so obvious that these women are doing this for political purposes. Ford may have actually had some incident happen to her as a teen, but as it was so long ago, there is no way to verify what happened or who was involved.

Brett Kavanaugh has had 6 FBI clearances over the years and none of this turned up until days before his nomination?!?

Crickets from the Dems about this.

Moon finally forms a Homeless Committee to try and help the homeless, but as usual nobody mentions finding solutions for the real reason why we have so many homeless in the first place which is lack of JOBS. All the committees in the world will not solve that basic problem unless we bring much needed job opportunities into this area. As the article mentions many of the homeless are young people and families not just drug addicts and the mentally ill.

Now there is 4 who claim sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh. An investigation which can only be ordered by Scump asking the FBI to do further investigation must occur to get to the bottom of this situation. It is plainly clear that Republicans have lost all credibility and there is no way they can get it back. Trump and all republicans are in the soup together and will be reprimanded severely in November. Blue is getting bluer every day. Women will sink scump and most republicans in November and rightly so. Get out the popcorn. The greatest shows on earth start at 10 am tomorrow.

I am not a big fan of Caccaviello and his team not because Paul isn’t a nice person but because his team is incompetent. Who prosecuted the man in Adams who ran over and killed an elderly woman in front of his store? The video was erased, he went and washed his car after the incident, and never felt anything different backing out of the parking lot he went to every day?? As he ran over a woman ? Come on… maybe they couldn’t get a vehicular homicide charge to stick for some reason but maybe leaving the scene? Driving to endanger? Something?? Who did he put on that case? There was also another woman in Williamstown that got hit, similar happenings. These people were elderly but guilty! Who the hell prosucted that one? One of his red faced rookie team members? Why wasn’t the top person prosecuting them and how on earth did they both go free? Sorry Cacc, I’m my book you shouldn’t win

Grassley’s opening statements a total disgrace. Filled with lies and innuendo. Just his opening statements alone will be enough to sink Kavanaugh. This hearing which is only an attempt to plow forward in the words of another dinosaur McConnell to confirm kavanaugh will end with an FBI investigation, In any event Grassley needs to be put out to pasture.

The scuttlebut is that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford currently oversees the CIA Undergraduate Internship Program Stanford University developed by the notorious CIA-connected Stanford University Psychiatric Professor Dr. Frederick T. Melges—who himself, in 1985, took into his care the homeless woman Lois Lang who assassinated CIA paymaster Nick Deak—and that afterwards saw the CIA’s black operations monies being controlled by Ralph G. Blasey Jr.—who, not so mysteriously, just happens to be the father of Dr. Christine Blasey. Hmmm… Maybe there is a reason Ralph G. Blasey Jr and his wife won’t sign an endorsement of character letter being circulated on behalf of their daughter. Nor will her siblings sign …

Hmmmmm….

I do not care for Ford’s demeanor. She talks in a little girl’s voice and for somebody who was NOT raped, she acts like she was and that it just happened yesterday. This whole thing seems too staged. She is a grown woman, but her demeanor seems much younger and smiling at times which to me is inappropriate when a man’s life is on the line.

The most traumatic and clear memory is of being laughed at supposedly by Kavanaugh and another teen. Wouldn’t the attempted rape be her most traumatic and clear memory? That is so important since it’s what her claim against Kavanaugh is all about.
