‘MEDICARE FOR ALL’ PLAN IS A FIRST-RATE SCAM

BY DAN VALENTI

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY NOV. 14, 2018) — Under Bernie Sanders’s Medicare for All proposal was the political fashion trend that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a self-proclaimed Democrat socialist, rode to victory in November on what has to be one of the most naïve votes in recent memory.  Ocasio-Cortez, 29 and the youngest member ever to win a Congressional seat, promised that many things would happen under the proposal:  Rainbows would appear in the eyes of unicorns, cotton candy would drop from the sky, and every poor person would receive free money.

Most of the thing the Medicare for All plan would do, she didn’t tell anyone about. She was too busy applying her makeup.

Under this plan:

  • Private care coverage will end for the 157 millions Americans who get their coverage this way. This is the Dems’ version of inclusion, which is not to raise those in need but lower the rest.
  • Under the plan, Americans would be prohibited from buying private insurance.
  • This would include taking health insurance away from those who are now covered by insurance by their employers in favor of the massive new governmental plan.
  • Union members will lose their “gold-plated private plans” (Betsy McCaughey, The New York Post). Actually, this is perhaps the best provision of the proposed new bill, but Ocasio-Cortez didn’t tell core supporters that the bill will strip away coverages won by unions in one-sided negotiations with complicit local governments. These were “negotiations” with bargaining of the kind bedraggled taxpayers have seen in Pittsfield for a generation, where the unions come in with demands and the politicians cave because of the threats that would be delivered on election day. As we all know, the Pittsfield unions control the vote in every election, having demoralized We The People into believing they have no say and should therefore not go to the polls.
  • The plan will pit millennials against the elderly. The over-65 crowd will get shoved to the back of the bus because they have fewer years of life in them.
  • The plan would enroll every American, starting at birth. The baby’s literal first breath outside the womb will come courtesy of Big Government. Infants will be tracked and numbered like bottle of Coca-Cola.
  • Neither Sanders nor any other backer of the proposed plan has explained how they propose to pay for the “guarantee” of health coverage for all Americans — visits to the doctor, hospitalizations, long-term care, dental, vision, specialist care.
  • Medicare currently covers 88 cents for every dollar spent. That number would drop under the new plan. Who makes up the difference? Got a mirror? Currently, that underage is paid by the schmucks with private insurance. The Sanders plan couldn’t shift the costs because private insurance would disappear. The government would have to take funds from other programs or … raise taxes. Now, THE PLANET asks, what so you think Big Government will do?
  • The plan provides for stringent caps on spending, putting the decisions for who gets what into the hands in the bean counters at the large insurance companies. That is being done now, of course, but the proposal would accelerate that despicable trend.
  • Most damaging, the only way Medicare for All can work under the current political situation is to drastically lower the quality of health care. That will mean curbing the use of many medical procedures and force drastic limits to coverage.

Health care in America is perhaps the most embarrassing aspect of national life. Universal health care should be a right given to every American at birth, since it is, in the largest sense, a national security issue. Sanders’s plan, however, so cynically exploited by Ocasio-Cortez, will only result in sham universal coverage. It will pretend to be what is isn’t, and the dreadful U.S. heath care racket will sink even further.

When health care started to worry more about profits than people’s well being, We The People lost big time. The system is busted, and there is little to justify that any government involvement would address the systemic corruption.

JA there are many on this board who do not understand what you are talking about. Perhaps we should say the instead: 99% of all taxpayers are not going to get any tax relief. That is a fact.

OC rode the pink wave to Washington, kinda like Harrington did here. Both clueless cuties. Perhaps if we stop paying for groceries for bums who won’t work, and giving them housing subsidies, free phones, free heat and free electricity, and stop giving millions to foreign countries, and build a wall with an electric fence, issue arrest orders for all visa overstays, lock em up and deport them, then maybe we can have free health care for all actual Americans.

Lots of medications are being cut and you have to justify the ones you do need. At the end of life it will be what is most cost efficient to big government as to whether you live or die. The medical field will make huge strides in many areas of healthcare, but only those who pay out of pocket will have access to the latest advances. Without private insurance, people will be extremely limited in their healthcare choices.

From TheHill.com

“In the news media there has been an emotional reaction to Trump,” [Bob] Woodward said, later adding, “Too many people for Trump or against Trump have become emotionally unhinged about this.”

“The remedy [isn’t a lawsuit],” he argued. “It’s more serious reporting about what he’s doing.”

Almost got it, Bob. It is only the Left and the media that is “unhinged,” a very appropriate term.

Unhinged, like Chucky getting his arse burnt behind the fireplace grill.

But it is good to hear the correct term applied in any way by a DC insider.

If you recieve healthcare from the Fed,State or city plan you have some idea how people under one roof plans have cheap good coverage close to what Medicare could do for all.State what kind of health insurance you recieve so that your comments or opinion have context.Real private small company insurance is extremely expensive for those with large weekly paychecks…..So the question is what insurance do you have and what do you pay as a % of the cost?

Tyer did not lower your taxes as she in fact raised them.Changing the rate per thousand means nothing when it comes what we pay.Did they raise the assessment of your home? That’s what matters. If they lowered the assessment the would raise the rate.B Clairmont.was striking us.

Gotta love election year politics!

Wait until Mayor Tyer is re-elected next year. Guaranteed your taxes will increase twofold – to make up for this year’s willy-dilly ruse.

Good luck, Pittsfield.

In a lot of ways I agree with Pat above; Meds are being cut and the current system makes things difficult to near impossible, unless you are wealthy enough to just pay out of pocket. If that’s the case UNDER THE CURRENT SYSTEM why argue for the continuation of the current system? The private insurance health care system is broken. It is the driving cost behind every school, town, city, state or hospital budget in the country already. Those costs go up 10-30% per YEAR! At the whim of the large insurance companies who also drive coverage AND treatment!! The whole thing should be illegal. As Dan said, “Health care in America is perhaps the most embarrassing aspect of national life. Universal health care should be a right given to every American at birth, since it is, in the largest sense, a national security issue.

Total agreement! Let’s talk about a way to get there. Let’s close the door, not let the Big Pharma, Med-Equipment mfrs (like GE and Westinghouse) or insurance companies in and talk about what the best way for the people might be to make this a reality.

So where do we go then? Let’s start brainstorming. We know having large, profit-driven, greedy corporations does not work. We are suspicious that government isn’t the answer. I get a feeling more regulation isn’t the answer either. The medical community HAS to be involved. Right pricing is probably a good place to start. Medical treatment has become like defense contracting. Bill a ridiculous amount for a standard product and everybody gets some grease from the total. Maybe we start with right pricing? I feel like in the movie Dave; this shouldn’t be that hard…apply a serious dose of common sense. And talk. Lotsa talk

Problems don’t get solved sometimes not just because of bad governance – there is that – but also that they are hard problems.
Medicare billing is a beast, so maybe using this first system that’s all drs are already using is step one. As malformed as Rombey Care and Obama’s Care are – they are a start. The idea an insurance company or huge healthcare corporation is responsible than government is not a belief of reasonable people.
It is vile that with the taxes we already pay that Americans aren’t covered uniformly.

HCW,
The emotional happiness of Syracusans is known to swing wildly according to the success of SU sports teams. The football team is having a great season, which probably accounts for Dan’s overly optimistic column. But I still hope he’s right. Geographically, the Syracuse region is a beautiful place, the cost of living is dirt cheap, and there are a few bright spots in the city itself. Not many, but a few.

Dan – Are you going to the SU vs. ND game at Yankee Stadium this Saturday? That would be a real test of your commitment to the ‘Cuse. Cheapest nosebleed ticket I found was over $200!

So yesterday iBerkshires had an eye opening article on the Stanley Beacon theater being up for sale with an offer that would sock it to the Pittsfield taxpayer. Today the article seems to have disappeared? So if it really did disappear why did that happen? Did city hall ask for it to be hidden from public view? Was this subterfuge not suppose to see the light of day until it was too late?

The ACA is becoming more and more popular every day. The republicans lied and said during the midterms that they were for the ACA. They didn’t fool very many voters other than pat and that’s why we will see a pickup of 41 democratic seats in the house. A single payer health program may be in the making and the democratic house will start working on it in the new year. Now that scump has a check on his madness look for the country to head in a more positive direction. I predict that scump will eventually be impeached. Domestic and international chaos caused by scump has reached a fever pitch. Look for him to be impeached in the first quarter of 2019. Mr. Gaetani states there are 21000 registered voters in pittsfield who do not vote. It appears that just about everyone who posts on this thread from pittsfield falls into that category. Yes the Gman was there speaking for all of you all by himself. What will it take to get you deadwoods to stand up and be counted? Gaetani has stated that he can save the taxpayer from oblivion,he now has that chance, thanks to Peter White and Tony Simonelli, current City Ward and at-large Councilors. If Gaetani’s presentation holds water, there can be no doubt that White,Simonelli,Mazzeo,Connell,Morandi, do have the taxpayer’s best Interest at heart.

As someone in the backdrop, who loves this City, and has never, ever tried to rape the taxpayers for selfish expense or otherwise, let’s see what we can do to elevate the upcoming or not, tax pain for all. And I mean all.

Dusty you are talking about Mr. Gaetani. He or any one like him can’t be elected in this city because the special interest groups will see to it that they dont get elected. If you have been wat Hong the Gman’s show you would know that the only way a person like Gaetani or someone like him can win is by enticing the 21000 registered voters who dont vote to vote. In fact if just half of them vote we could clear out all the dead wood running this city in one swift sweep. There is no other way that people like Gaetani who would be a fantastic mayor can be elected here in pittsfield. But perhaps when Gaetani saves the rate payers a fortune maybe must maybe people will come to their senses and elect a corporate executive such as Gaetani who has a background in management.and who wouldn’t hesitate to fire the dead wood living on the city’s dole. I believe it was said that he invested very little of his own money. So now is he the sole owner of this complex that was financed mostly by public money? And is he going to make a nice profit on a project financed with public money? Let us discuss so that the public feels their best interests are being taken into account and that their is no behind the scenes funny stuff. An honest mayor would want this all out in the open.

There is an even bigger blue tsunami coming in 2020. The reds are going to be blown out of the water. Scump and company know that there days of power are dwindling daily. Expect indictments to start flying any time now. The Scump presidency is over. All that is left to do is sweep him out with the garbage.

Scump is a coward. He should sit before Mueller just like all his criminal friends did. Regardless this idiot is going down. It’s just a matter of time now. Scump will get his name in the guiness book of records for being the greatest liar on the planet.

Our mayor claims that just the foot traffic that the Beacon generates helps the whole of North St. With the exception of Hotel on North she isn’t even aware of what businesses are there. Maybe she should start at Family Dollar and go to Liptons gas, AMart, Carr, Rite Aid, the cleaners, the laundry, the trophy shop, the light place K’s etc and ask those small proprietors how much they feel the Beacon has helped them. She won’t go near any of them because those proprietors are not important enough. She wouldn’t give them a dime to help pay their bills. Just tax them more. In my time I’ve seen the Kameo (Showplace), Strand, Union Square, Capitol and Palace theaters close without any help ever being offered. The Beacon has been given over $20,000,000 and now they want more. As my army medic used to say, “bend over and spread your cheeks soldier”.

Thomas Moore: Well said. I also remember those places you mentioned. The small proprietors are a forgotten entity. They evidently aren’t flashy enough for secretary tired to have her phony photo ops. What we have here is massive mismanagement. All gobsig elected AH,’s

Trump with all his power knows that Mueller can put members of his family and potentially himself in jail. Scump is panicking now and even his new hatchet man Whitaker can’t save him. Dinosaur McConnell says he never heard trump say that he was about to shut down the Mueller probe. He is as big a liar as scump. The new house democrats will see that the Mueller’s probe is completed.

Don’t be fooled by the Secretary, some smuck
is really interested in this property, come on? The Caveat is the 2.5 million. Which should never happen, not one thin dime.

Let Stanley pay off his gig and let Stanley deal directly with this outfit. And please, don’t come riding down North Street like a White Night asking for the taxpayer to give more, and you’ll stay.

Scump says he has info into the Mueller probe. Can he possibly be that stupid? He doesn’t realize that this is obstruction of justice. The only person he could be getting this info from is bull dog Whitaker. Scump is the dumbest person on the planet. He is digging his own grave. Bye Bye scump.

All the scumps on this board have taken cover. Can’t say that I dont blame you. Things are going to get much worse for you from this point on. You will witness scumps impeachment. The show is just getting started and the ending should be spectacular with scump led away from the white house in hand cuffs headed to the big house. Very few Americans will show any empathy for this AH as he has never shown any to anyone else. I can’t wait for the show to start. I am going to get some popcorn and wait for the show to start.

Fitwit,: you think I am the Gman but I am not. But what I want to know is what do you have against the Gman? Are you aware that the Gman is the most important person who ever lived in pittsfield. He is out there representing you and everyone at all times. He tells it like it is and is the voice of the taxpayer. If some city official tried to railroad you the Gman would go to bat for you or any taxpayer in the city. Throw stones at me I dont mind but dont throw stones at the Gman because you may need him one day. He is the real deal. He is not like the phonies you see in city government and I assume you would admire that. He is getting ready to save you a fortune. Dont throw stones at someone who is trying to help you. That would make you an ingrate. Try to stay positive

Glad to see some nut cases coming back to the board. Try to post intelligently and dont support lies. Your guru’s days are numbered. Scump is now validated as the worst liar on the planet and will even make history in the guiness book of records. Enjoy your Scump he won’t be around much longer.

HT No nonsense just the truth. Try to do the same. You will feel better. You can’t stand the fact that I hate scump and I give reasons why I feel as I do. Your posts are quite juvenile. Just read my posts carefully and you will see that they are all fact filled. I think I know you and you may be to far gone to understand reality. You are too scump indoctrinated to tell the difference between right and wrong. Your now posting under 4 or 5 names but it is you. I recognize all your handles. Scump has made you a bitter man and I am worried about you. I hope you can recover.
