(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY FEB. 11, 2019) — The GOP’s secret weapon to retain the White House in 2020 — which, incidentally and unbelievably is less than a year away — has struck again. The Dems’ only hope will be to find a way to stifle this traitorous element of the party and see that Joe Biden, a Syracuse product and the only serious Donkey contender at this point, wins the nomination. Fightin’ Joe, however, will find it more difficult each day wild-eyed Rep. Alexandria Ocascio-Cortez continues to House wreck and run wild off the leash.
O-C has unveiled her so-called Green New Deal. The proposal, which calls for an unprecedented expansion and intrusion of the federal government into every aspect of daily life, makes FDR’s New Deal look like the economics of Ayn Rand and Milton Friedman of the Chicago School. THE PLANET would love Dr. Charles Trzcinka’s take.
Of course, the radical plan was endorsed by ultra-left party apparatchiks including reps. Ed Markey of the Bay State, and presidential no-shots Kamala Harris, D-CA; Cory Booker, D-NJ, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, and our own Elizabeth Warren. The latter, incidentally, had to issue her third apology of the week when the Washington Post revealed she had self-identified as “American Indian” in her 1986 Texas bar application.
Fortunately, the plan has zero chance of success. It’s a non-binding resolution, not a bill. At best, it would provide input on future congressional legislation on climate change. At worst it dies on the vine as a PR stunt given life solely because of social media and O-C’s lipstick. If she looked like Bella Abzug, no one hears about it.
The Green New Deal’s purpose is to serve as a publicity campaign O-C, Booker, Harris, and company. Cheap publicity has replaced sober policy for moonbat, you-go-girl, party progressives (Andrea Harrington and Helen Moon, anyone?). Unfortunately, this stuff plays well on social media, irreparably harming the minds of countless young people whose beautiful idealism becomes sacrificial victim of cynical political opportunists. The strategy, which plays well for the party elites in Berkshire County and bicoastal enclaves, will flop elsewhere. Can you imagine someone like Harris as the Democrat nominee next year, having to defend a “democratic economy?”
If Democrats seriously advance what O-C calls “a comprehensive agenda of economic, social, and racial justice,” it will ensure a bull rush for Republicans, mainly from middle America. That’s why House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wisely dismissed the wacky plan as “the green dream, or whatever they call it … nobody knows what it is.” You see, kids, it is wise to have the adults around.
The Green New Deal would intrude into every aspect of daily life. For example, it would ban commercial air travel. Buh-bye, airplanes; they pollute too much. It would provide welfare (taxpayer money) to all in need, even those, in O-C’s memorable words, “unwilling to work.” Let that sink in. The Green New Deal will hand out monthly payments for every lazy moocher in the land. Welfare scamming is bad enough now, but under the new plan, the cheats would no longer have to scam. They would simply be given a monthly kiss “just because.”
None of the backers of the resolution have explained how they would pay for it. Actually, there’s no way to realistically calculate the cost of such an ill-defined deal. Initial estimates put the floor at $2 trillion dollars. No number, though, could be put on the cost of disrupting global trade or the one million jobs the plan would eliminate. We’re talking multiple trillions of dollars.
The Republicans actually have been tame in their response, willing to let the damage play out across America.
“The Green New deal is a raw deal for the American taxpayer,” said Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo, who chairs the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. “[It’s] a socialist manifesto that lays out a laundry list of government giveaways, including guaranteed food, housing, college, and economic security [income], even for those who refuse to work.”
THE PLANET would like to think that the Democrats aren’t that stupid. We’d prefer the nomination of a strong candidate who can provide the entire country, and not just the radical left, with a viable choice in 2020.

The Socialists in Venezuela have this same philosophy (although not even as extreme as the far left in this country and as far as I know they haven’t killed off all their cows) where the ruling politicians put all these restrictions on the people, but they do not deny themselves anything including air travel, fancy vehicles and whatever their hearts desire. They expect everyone else to live the socialist dream of living simply so as not to create any damage to the all important environment.
This is why the people in Venezuela, France and other socialist countries are rebelling against this system that promised so much, but has left them fighting for basic survival. Socialism is only good for those at the top in government since they have all the money and power.

Students then were capable of rigorous course loads and steep intellectual challenges. Fast-forward to the present: Course loads have been pumped with helium and an intellectual challenge, God forbid, can easily be seen as being discriminatory or as some kind of “ist.” That’s why we made Argumentation and Persuasion more and more a part of out Comp I and II classes.

The beauty of climate change is whatever the weather is that’s a sign of climate change. Winters are cold and summers are warm but that’s climate change.

Only a few have walked on the moon but 99.9% of the US population believes we have been there. What about that other ,1% who believe we never reached the moon. What is it that anyone can do to convince them??? Answer : You can’t. Climatologists study real data on a minute to minute day to day month to month year to year and decade to decade basis and thru comparative analysis they can extrapolate data which allows them to come to conclusions that lead to projections which have a high probability of occurring. Those who point to super cold periods on the east coast and super heat on the southern coast are correct projections which have occurred. None of us will live long enough to see much change but we will see a tiny bit of change. Coast lines are good predictors. Consider Hampton beach NH. You can see pictures from the 40s that show a coast line much wider than today. For as far back as we can find prior to the 40s there was very little change. What happened to cause this erosion from the 40s till today??? Ñew York city and several coastal states are predicted to be swallowed in the future and we have to look at what is creating this. Natural climate if kept pristine would cause very little change in the near term but would have some long term affects. What we are seeing is change occurring before our very eyes and we can not see any cataclysmic events that are creating them accept for one The green house affect. Under normal circumstances we get natural heating and cooling but when you get the green house affect this change of gain and loss of heat is interrupted and the planet starts to heat more quickly and even small changes in temperature has data clysmic affects on the planet and all life on it. We know that the planet’s temperature is rising quicker than we have ever seen. What is different on the planet today that we can point to as being contributive to rising temperatures and their devastating affect on the earth??? The answer is climate change and if we know it is we have to ask what can we do and the answer is what climatologists are recommending we do. This isn’t about believers and non believers its about good science and working together to slow down a disaster that is playing out right before our very eyes. This is OUR home and we must take care of it for us and all other human beings who come after us. Its that simple.

I think the wealthy should be allowed to keep their money especially when, in many cases, they did earn it. The wealthy do grow the economy. I am talking of the far left wealthy advocating one thing while doing another which is hypocrisy. We wouldn’t need more taxes if government used the money they do have in a responsible way. Taking money from the wealthy and giving it to big government is not my idea of “helping society”. Corruption and greed is what big government is all about.

TSC I think we would be better off with more socialism than more crony capitalism which is what our parties (both) give us now. Patronage jobs like we see – leading inefficient agencies that cost loads. Middle class people in Europe (Germany, France, Denmark, UK) pay lower taxes and have better support and better qualities of life than in the US (public health, pensions, schools) than people in CA or NY. Those states are going bankrupt — for every worthy program there is loads of waste and lots of admin staff at huge salaries that may not be needed but are somebodies pay back. I’m not against effective programs. We need to simplify and cut waste.

Not true. Most European countries have no income tax below certain income levels. Middle class tax rates at about 40% which is similar to here. High income is along the lines of what O.C discussed.
However property taxes are nowhere near what Americans pay.. Sales tax is higher. New York has transactional taxes for almost all kinds of official business that are worthy of a Eiropean country.
Re socialism vs patronism – the civil service is far less political and if you compare (don’t count France) many countries civil service is smaller and professionally based.

Middle class in Europe do pay less income tax. I pay about 40% income tax and I paid about that in Germany. No property tax like we have here. Sales tax higher there of course and inheritance tax too. But healthcare was first rate and not contributed to. My company didn’t have to haggle every year against insurance companies – time and money wasted too every time you have to fuss with administrative paperwork.

(Natural News) One of the grandest scientific hoaxes ever perpetrated against humankind is that Man’s modern life (along with cattle farts) is causing catastrophic “climate change”—or “global warming,” depending on the day.
There has been a plethora of evidence to prove the whole thing is a hoax, for anyone willing to actually see it and accept it. This has ranged from faking warming data, to pretending that climate change is “settled science,” to hiding the real motives behind the hoax. In fact, hoaxers have even changed the entire narrative; once upon a time it wasn’t global warming that was going to destroy all life, it was global cooling.
Now, there is even mathematical evidence proving the great climate lie. Infowars reporter Millie Weaver recently interviewed Lord Christopher Monckton, 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, a conservative British politician and inventor of mathematical puzzle “Eternity,” who said there is a breaking discovery that will prove the entire climate change scare is based on faulty mathematics. This seems logical, given that the vast majority of claims that the earth is warming and that modern industry is the cause are primarily based on incorrect computer models.
At a conference in Phoenix called, “Global Warming: An Inconvenient Lie,” Monckton discussed in depth a mathematical discovery made by he and his team and that their findings have since been submitted for the proper academic peer review.
The hoax part isn’t the fact the climate is changing, it’s when they claim man is the cause of it. Man likely contributes some, with all the pollution counties like China indiscriminately pour into the environment, but the Dems totally ignore the fact that many natural causes contribute at least some if not most.
But one thing for sure, the Dems answer to climate change is not going to work. Their goal is to make money for their connections in the Green Energy field and labor unions, and all there other friends.
Maybe we’ll see them protesting around volcanoes and termite mounds in the near future. Or paint El Nino as a clima-ist.
