‘WRONG WAY’ HARRINGTON JOINS RIEGELS, MARSHALL IN HER ‘SCORE’

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION SEPT. 18-20, 2020) — It’s not been the best of times for Berkshire County district attorney Andrea Harrington.

  • She appears for a photo-op with Joe Kennedy and the homeless at Springside Park. Not long after, one of the park “residents”  commits suicide.
  • Then, Kennedy gets trounced, becoming the first in America’s royal family to lose in Massachusetts.
  • Then she gets stopped going the wrong way on one-way Gordon Street off of Elm in Pittsfield with a suspended driver’s license. Just call her “Wrong Way” Harrington, joining Roy Riegels (Jan. 1, 1929) and Jim Marshall (Oct. 25, 1965) in the annals.

Wrong Way Harrington and her flack, Andy McKeever, could have contained this hot mess by making known the Sept. 1 incident that day or the day after. She could have apologized and people would have respected her for it. Wrong Way and Andy, however, counted on a complacent local media not to find out or, if they did, not to report. They didn’t count on three things:

  • the local law-enforcement community’s robust grapevine.
  • citizens talking about it.
  • this website. After the Berkshire Eagle ran a story on the incident, Wrong Way blamed a certain “local right-wing blogger” and the “assorted cranks” who comprise his vast readership. She said without THE PLANET, the Eagle would not have have found out. The Eagle did find out. So did the Albany TV stations, Springfield RepublicanBoston Globe, odd crimes.com, and others.

And apparently, it’s all our fault.

Wrong Way thinks we are “right wing.” Actually we are both wings, left and right, because that’s the only way to get airborne. We are also no wings. That’s the only way you can keep your ear to the ground then dig.

It’s funny, because since late in her winning campaign for D.A. in 2018, Wrong Way stopped communicating with us. She thought journalists would behave like Andy McKeever, who kept quiet the promise of a job as long as he would pretend to be a reporter with fawning coverage of the D.A.’s race for iBerkshires.

———- ooo ———-

On the day Pittsfield police stopped Wrong Way, there were 31 other traffic stops. Only two got off with a warning. One was Wrong Way. If you’re Joe Kapanski, you stand a 94% chance of getting cited. If your name is Andrea Harrington, you skate. Wrong Way blamed the New York State DMV and the press. She said she paid a speeding fine from 2019 directly to the NYS DMV instead of the local court (not the standard practice). Why pay it that way? That local court didn’t know of the payment, resulting in notifying Massachusetts and the Bay State pulling her license (reinstated Sept. 4).

After the Eagle story, Wrong Way played victim on Facebook, even pulled the gender card.

Questions:

  • Why was she driving a rented or fleet vehicle Sept. 1?
  • Rented from where? Part of what fleet?
  • How could she have done it legally with a suspended license?
  • Did the PPD initially issue a ticket?
  • If so, who “disappear-ed” it and why?
  • Can we believe McKeever when he said he knew nothing about the Sept. 1 stop? If he’s lying, bad enough, but if he’s telling the truth, that’s worse because in his role, McKeever serves as communications link between the county’s most important public safety office and citizens.
  • Why won’t PPD chief Mike Wynn not respond to questions?
  • Why won’t McKeever respond to questions? His excuse is the incident has nothing to do with the work of the DA in walking on water, raising the dead, and turning water into wine.

From Heather Bellows’ article in the Eagle:

“What does a couple of hundred dollars to the State of NY and 7 hours on the phone with the MA RMV get you? A story in the Berkshire Eagle, apparently,” [Harrington] wrote on Facebook following the article’s publication on Tuesday.

Harrington acknowledged she was pulled over for a traffic violation.

“Which is a good thing because they let me know to check my driver’s license,” Harrington said.

Last summer, Harrington received a speeding ticket while driving into New York City. “Rather than contest the ticket at a hearing, I took responsibility and paid my ticket online to the NY RMV,” she said. “However, the NY court apparently did not know that which triggered MA suspending my license which I was not aware of.”

“A good thing.”

If it was so good, why didn’t she come clean on Sept. 1 or 2?

Finally, we publicly issue an invitation we have privately made to both Harrington and McKeever. Sit down and let’s resume c-o-m-m-u-n-i-c-a-t-i-o-n. It might be good for public safety.

Yeah?

Have a great weekend, everybody.

Compared to the prior Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office’s railroading the now late Bernard Baran, I think Andrea Harrington’s driving woes are trivial.

Harrington’s driving woes aren’t trivial in that they are just one more example of her arrogance and incompetence. First, everyone in the office knew the next day but did another “”DUH! We don’t know nuttin’.” 2) She used her position, her sex, and her near transparent whiteness to wiggle out of something that would have landed any of us in the back seat of a cruiser, a trip to the pokey, and a towed vehicle. 3) Her former best buddy, Helen Moon, confirmed point 2 herein and just by the tone of her own remark what a dumpster fire our DA’s office now is. Clearly, Moon has stopped drinking with Harrington. Harrington and her crew of Darcie Sosa’s can take their Progressive agenda, shove it where the sun don’t shine, and get the hell out of that office. It’s time to get back to business. BTW, when will Pittsfield dump Wynn too?

My contention has always been Citations are never written because it’s too time consuming, and heaven forbid you have to ticket a friend or politician. So there you go.

Cop pulls over a violator and is released,no questions asked. So, in the spirit of the law maybe all violators that day who received a citation should be forgiven.

Going the wrong way on a street is worse than speeding, running no a-stop sign, or red light in my opinion, and more dangerous.

How about if someone goes 80 mph during rush hour and then through a stop sign while texting their grandmother but are actually going the right way on a one way street?

According to my sources, driving with a suspended license is an arrestable crime – not simply a ticket – speaking of which – there is simply no mechanism to pay a fine direct to DMV NY. Let’s see her receipt!!! And furthermore, you are formally notified by DMV/RMV of your license getting yanked. The average Joe would have been either arrested and booked on the charge or at least summonsed to Court Berkshire District Court. And would not have been allowed to drive the car from scene. So, who drove the car from the scene? Or was it towed? Who knew what, and when did they know it?

Why was Wrong Way driving the wrong way on a very short dead end street in broad daylight? Cops don’t exactly do traffic patrol on Gordon St. So how did she even come to get pulled over? Did Jack or Jill Kapanski call the cops? Perhaps after a near miss? Can’t see how she gets pulled over for this to begin with absent that, or a cop happening to be headed the right way at the same time.

Was she “on the clock” when this happened? Does the DAs office lease cars? Does Harrington have emails and cell records for that day? Does a bear poop in the woods? All public records for a paid reporter to Dig Up. Big dig anyone? Who has the balls to put a public records request into her office for all emails, cell records, lease records, from that day forward? Who did she communicate with? Texts are forever baby!

Andrea Harrington Is doing more that driving the wrong way with a suspended license. Just wait to they uncover misappropriation of funds. She cannot manage her own person finances(unpaid real estate taxes) what makes anyone think she can manage the multimillion dollar budget at the DA’s office! She (and her useless staff-Rich Doho) decided they needed gaming computers to work from home…they are useless and WAY over spent on. And she is spending Grant money inappropriately…let the AUDITS begin!
Dan, FOIA request it!

https://www.berkshireeagle.com/stories/pittsfield-police-officer-unaware-of-harringtons-license-status-before-her-release,613802

Somebody is lying:

“She was cooperative and deemed not to be a risk, so after issuing a verbal warning, he sent her on her way.
It was only after she had driven away that he learned that Harrington was operating with a suspended license.”

“Dispatch was running the license,” according to Pittsfield Police Chief Michael Wynn. “The officer was still at [Harrington’s] car and released the car before he returned to his cruiser and got the license information. It was only after the stop was over and she was gone that he was advised that the license was suspended.”

Didn’t Squeaky say she was informed by the officer that her license was suspended?
It seems she knew somehow, because she did get it “fixed” over two days and 7 hours of phone calls. Ohhh wait Wynn called her at home, does he do that for everyone?

Wynn is lying as well. He mentions the law about not being able to write a citation after the fact. That happens all the time, “charges pending” we see it all the time with motor vehicle issues. There was nothing stopping the officer from stopping her again either except that he didn’t do his job in the first place.
So if Wynn stopped a person, then gave them a verbal, they drove off for a suspended license, he wouldn’t go after them? How far could she have gone? Are the cops that casual in Pittsfield that any elected official just gets a verbal?

Thank goodness the Eagle preserved the Facebook post of Squeaky, it’s full of lies they are still working on.
Keep a close eye on Andy and Andrea, they seem to have a special relationship.

That’s BS…Any call that comes over the cruiser radio also comes over the officer’s portable…So, he would have received the license info.

DA gets a speeding ticket in NY in June 2019
DA ignores all mail about license suspension, fines, etc until November 2019 when her license is suspended.
DA drives 5 months on a suspended license until March of 2020.
So that means she knew her license was suspended, because she paid the fines in March of 2020. Did she finally read her mail? She knew she had a suspended license since November but continued to drive.
Her insurance company notified her plenty of times from November until just recently.

This is the head prosecutor in Berkshire County and she lacks the legal wherewithal to handle a simple speeding ticket. She lacks the legal understanding of what tax title taking is. .
This is who the people elected.

It’s ironic that she didn’t know which court or where to pay the fines. It’s just like her not knowing which court hears which cases in Berkshire county.
Meanwhile boy toy Andy doesn’t want to answer questions about his girl.

The key is to get a list of the cars rented by the DA’s office.

Dan, you should get an award for your reporting. The Eagle is garbage that is bought, sold and paid for and we will never have a more ‘clean’ government (human nature means it’s never fully ‘clean’) without good reporting. You do a public service. It’s interesting that squeaky thinks that national protestors need their voice heard but local people interested in the truth are cranks.
Re the ticket. Harrington is unrepentant lying liar. Show me the proof she paid her ticket direct to the DMV – I have never heard of such a thing. It sounds like bs – I could be wrong but why would a person do something so contrary to usual practice unless they wanted to hide something. And that is if she ever paid any fine.
I hope she is disbarred, or asked to resign. She should not represent law enforcement or the courts with this kind of conduct.
(If we are cranks and I am Kermit then you all are the old guys in the balcony. You’re welcome.)

When citations were given that day weren’t the licenses called in ask for any previous infractions? Why didn’t that come up when the officer called it in? Many law enforcement officials carry weapons? Was she asked if she was carrying a firearm? and did she have one in her possession which would result in a felony I believe if her license was suspended earlier.

Yeah, I agree Spider. She made the claim she was taken out at gunpoint and arrested. If she’s lying, than I think the voters need to know she has severe integrity issues, not to mention her hidden agenda against the police. If it’s true, than did the DA overlook her shady background? And if she did, how much info did Helen Moon see, or was privy to? Definitely worth looking into.

Not to mention, when she went after Ofc Derby, with all the goodwill and deeds he does, what has she ever done in comparison? Holding a BLM with Dennis Powell isn’t even close.

I agree with you Spider. She made very serious allegations, that if it’s proven never happened or she embellished her story, to try and fit into the “cause,” than she is a liar and her integrity is gone. As a taxpayer/voter, I think it’s only fair to vet this story. She brought it up. Its not like the DA tossed her under the bus. You can’t unring that bell Helen. I will file a FOIA w/Boston PD, to verify.

Plus, she worked in the DA’s Office. Was she privy to current investigations or information that she could use to thwart law enforcement?

You know she despises the police with her “victim,” mentality. She went after Officer Derby, who has brought more goodwill to the department and the citizens, than she could ever hope to.

And no Helen, posting videos of you holding up BLM signs with Dennis Powell doesn’t count.

Ironically it takes a simple and yes, minor traffic violation to mushroom into something that displays for all the lack of professionalism and competence in the DA and the PPD. The DA’s response of attacking the media on something of obvious importance to the public showed her to be as clueless and petty as people have claimed. This has posed more questions than answers. And PPD? They let someone go after a traffic stop without having run their license as they would anyone else? Not okay, but what’s worse, their chief doesn’t understand the law. The “no fix” law would prevent the officer from later charging Harrington with the wrong way violation. However, he not only could have but SHOULD have tried to find her and cited her once he learned she was driving on the suspended license. No knowledgeable officer would allow someone to commit an ongoing offense. A poor attempt by Wynn to try to hide behind a legal technicality either he thinks the public won’t understand or he doesn’t understand himself.

DMV notifies police chiefs when a person living in their jurisdiction has their license suspended/revoked. Wynn should have known, Nov 2019

Squeaky knew her license was not valid when pulled over, she just scurried off and hoped the officer would not run her license/plates. She may have paid her fine in NY, but obviously neglected to have her license reinstated, AND pay the fee, in Ma by the DMV.

The officer was derelict in his duty for: not checking the license/registration, telling her she’s going to need to call a cab, and either have the car towed or Squeaky finding another person with a valid license to move it.

Going wrong way on a one-way street is a red flag for driving while impaired/intoxicated. I wonder what conversation the two had that convinced the officer she was sober? Most drivers would be asked to walk the line toe to toe, and/or some mental agility questions.

All that said, it is/was a nightmare trying to do business with the DMV, before covid-19. If you need to contact them now, via their phone 800 numbers, chances are you’ll need a shave and haircut before anyone answers their phones.

How come in Pittsfield when we bring in new business our taxes just go up even more? In some places new business s actually help support the tax base so that the burden does not fall on lower and middle income folk. And is there any ceiling on how many tax breaks one business can get?

How many more lying excrement from our elected officials do the Pittsfield taxpayers have to take? Dina, Moon, Barry, Wynn, Linda, Persip and on and on. These lies are getting worse by the day. Wynn’s explanation of Harrington’s vehicle stop is totally pathetic and wrong. Why was Sgt. Herland in such a rush? The Police Dispatchers who make probably a third of what a police officer makes are very prompt when running information on drivers. Did Herland really even run her license? Since he is a Sgt., is this how he trains the newbies? Is that why the traffic enforcement in Pittsfield is basically non-existent? Is he going to be reprimanded for his sheer laziness during this traffic stop? Was Sgt. Herland in awe with Andrea, or is he part of the “inner circle”? Is he going to be re-trained on the proper steps when pulling a driver over? What if Andrea had hit a pedestrian or another car, would the City of Pittsfield/State be liable? Where is the Mayor’s input on this, she is Wynn’s boss? Or is the delay in Wynn’s comments because he and the Mayor had to cook up his response? Who leaked this information, was it another patrol officer that might have been reprimanded in the past for making an error and now sees his Sgt. really mess up and there are no consequences? Is that why moral is in the gutter at the Police Dept. Does Wynn call all drivers when their licenses are suspended? How come Andrea got a courtesy call, I bet the rest of us would not receive one? These past few weeks in Pittsfield have really stunk of lies and deception. What is next?

TITLE:  Ignorance of the Law Not Being an Excuse Also Applies to the PPD!

I find this whole thing a bit fishy. This is my take on what happened after some conversation with persons not authorized to comment on such matters.
The Officer makes the stop & calls in the 4-1-1. Ms DA states who she is or the cop recognizes her. THEN the RMV status comes back with a hit for 90-23/suspended. “(Any person convicted of operating a motor vehicle after his license to operate has been suspended or revoked… shall…….., be punished for a first offence by a fine of not less than five hundred nor more than one thousand dollars or by imprisonment for not more than ten days, or both,,; )”. The Officer tells her (the Verbal Warning) and lets her drive away POST HASTE. A PO ALLOWS a person to break the law by driving on a suspended license??? Mal/mis or nonfeasance? The Officer runs back to the station, tells his Supe who runs it upstairs where “damage control” starts. By now, the biggest rumor mill in the County (PPD Dispatch) leaks the info and it spreads faster than Covid from Wuhan!  Of course, the DA’s office leaks info like the Pontoosuc Dam, too and then the Spin Dr, Andrew starts to operate.

(Even IF the MA RMV computer was down or slow, the Officer could’ve cited her later and mailed the V to her (***) and caused a summons to be issued. Note MAY ARREST in Ch 90 sec 21, not shall.)

General Laws Part I Title XIV Chapter 90C
Section 2
Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law, other than a provision of this chapter, to the contrary, any police officer assigned to traffic enforcement duty shall, whether or not the offense occurs within his presence, record the occurrence of automobile law violations upon a citation, filling out the citation and each copy thereof as soon as possible and as completely as possible and indicating thereon for each such violation whether the citation shall constitute a written warning and, if not, whether the violation is a criminal offense for which an application for a complaint as provided by subsection B of section three shall be made, whether the violation is a civil motor vehicle infraction which may be disposed of in accordance with subsection (A) of said section three, or whether the violator has been arrested in accordance with section twenty-one of chapter ninety. Said police officer shall inform the violator of the violation and shall give a copy of the citation to the violator. Such citation shall be signed, manually or electronically, by the police officer, and whenever a citation is given to the violator in person that fact shall be so certified by the police officer. If a written warning is indicated, no further action need be taken by the violator. No other form of notice, except as provided in this section, need be given to the violator.
A failure to give a copy of the citation to the violator at the time and place of the violation shall constitute a defense in any court proceeding for such violation, except where the violator could not have been stopped or ***where additional time was reasonably necessary to determine the nature of the violation*** or the identity of the violator, or ***where the court finds that a circumstance, not inconsistent with the purpose of this section to create a uniform, simplified and non-criminal method for disposing of automobile law violations, justifies the failure. *** In such case the violation shall be recorded upon a citation as soon as possible after such violation and ***the citation shall be delivered to the violator or mailed to him at his residential or mail address or to the address appearing on his license or registration as appearing in registry of motor vehicles records.***
Any officer authorized to make arrests, provided such officer is in uniform or conspicuously displaying his badge of office, may arrest without a warrant and keep in custody for not more than twenty-four hours, unless Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday intervenes, any person, regardless of whether or not such person has in his possession a license to operate motor vehicles issued by the registrar, if such person upon any way or in any place to which the public has the right of access, or upon any way or in any place to which members of the public have access as invitees, operates a motor vehicle after his license or right to operate motor vehicles in this state has been suspended or revoked by the registrar.

A revisit to her suspension should be warranted whether she had taken care of it or not. A miscommunication can be revisited and the proper citation applied.

Two things this is far from a right wing blog. I wish it was. DV is right down the middle. She should apologize but Lefties seem to be able to say anything with no consequence.
How many people on this blog have been pulled over without showing their license. How did dispatch realize she didn’t have a valid license, thru a rental that couldn’t have been rented by her? Rental agencies require a valid license unlike the PPD. This whole scenario is BS. What isn’t BS is that she is an incapable twit in a job that is way over head.

Yes, way to throw the school under the bus with that lame interview. McCandless had to call and clean it up with this: “The adult individual suspected of being involved in the alleged misconduct, has never been a full-time employee of the Pittsfield Public Schools.
The alleged incidents of misconduct did not take place on school grounds, did not involve student-athletes on teams that were under the supervision of the individual suspected of the alleged misconduct, and did not occur during a time in which the individual was employed by the Pittsfield Public Schools.

Judicial Watch Statement on the Passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton made the following statement on the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg:
Judicial Watch sends it condolences to the family of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She had a wonderful judicial temperament that will always be remembered.

President Trump now has a historic opportunity to nominate yet another constitutional conservative who will honor the Constitution and the rule of law across the full spectrum of constitutional issues.

And the U.S. Senate should move quickly to work with President Trump to consider and approve a new justice who will faithfully apply the U.S. Constitution. There is no reason we cannot have a new justice by Election Day.

If the shoe was on the other foot and a democrat president was in along with Chuck as the senate majority leader right now, we would see them announcing a full speed ahead to fill the seat. This has to be the most laughable exchange I’ve seen on here in awhile and there are many.
First and foremost, if the DA was aware her license was suspended (which I doubt because the lack of communication between states on rmv matters is notorious) why wouldn’t she take care of the issue and get her license reinstated??? Money, that’s not an issue. Arrogance, I doubt that because she knows everyone would be waiting to jump on it and do what all of you are doing right now. Stupidity, she hasn’t gotten this far being stupid.
It is obvious that many of you are misogynist’s and love to attack women in power.
How many of you have been given a pass for a.minor traffic infraction? Christ I just got a verbal warning for a PPD officer for being 15 mph over the speed limit, most likely because i was polite, respectful, admitted to the speeding and had a clean history. You’d all be bitching up a storm.if it was you and got a ticket. I can hear it now, “doesn’t PPD have real crime to fight.
Give it a break guys.
Why don’t you focus on real news like a hs coach enticing minors. You guys are all upset because we haven’t had any shootings or murders in awhile to rant about.

Ahhhh you’re all washed up.
The simple answer is, she’s utterly incompetent with a little entitlement mixed in.
What LAWYER can’t take care of a speeding ticket? Some of the worst lawyers on the plant make whole careers, and good money, on traffic court.
She knew she was driving on a suspended license for months.
Got the ticket in June ‘19, did nothing.
Got multiple, and I checked, you get 4 notifications from NY before they pull your license or request to have it pulled. You get 3 court notices from NY when you have a speeding ticket, if you fail to appear they issue 2 more warnings. So we are up to 9 warnings from NY.
Then MA they issue 2 letters, one stating that there is a request to suspend your license with info of what jurisdiction is requesting it, and the actual suspension.
So 11 warnings.
Based on the FOIA request her insurance company notified her 4 times.
So that makes 15 warnings.
Her address hasn’t changed in a decade or more, so it’s not a lost in the mail thing.
Any idiot could walk into that Clinton Court, and pleaded that fine down to “parking on pavement”
a non-moving violation.
Clearly she knew and didn’t care, now that makes her either stupid or arrogant, or both.
I’d say both.
Remember she’s a lawyer, granted clearly the most incompetent one in Berkshire county, based on her past cases win/loss ratio and her handling of a simple speeding ticket.

She fully admitted she paid the ticket in March of 2020, a full 5 months after her license was suspended AND she admits she paid it to the wrong jurisdiction. In EVERYONE of those notifications from NY it told here were to pay her fine.
So she KNEW she was driving on a suspended license and decided to “take responsibility” 10 months later, after her license was suspended in “two states”.
So I’m sort of wondering how her sex has anything to do with it? If it were Capeless or Cac, the reporting should be no different.

But wait let’s talk about her taxes. Same thing, 2018 she paid no taxes in her town. To the point that they published her name in the paper as part of a foreclosure/taking notice.
It’s fiscal 2021 so that’s three years of ignoring her taxes, to the point they were going to take her house. That’s almost 20 notices (1 with every bill about being delinquent) and 6 as part of the tax title taking process.
Not her fault again?

No the problem people have with Squeaky is that she’s a political hack who’s unfit for the job the democrats gave her. That’s ok I hear this last go round of backing Kennedy and being an embarrassment to the party has set the machine against her. Next election I expect another candidate will pop up and the machine will support them and Andrea will go down as a footnote.

I think the eagle reporter is smart enough to do do her job and take a ride down to Clinton to the local court and explain to them how a local pol in the Berkshires claims they don’t know how to do their jobs. Then head up to Albany to the registry and do the same. Then off to Boston to the registry. Two state agencies and a local court all screwed up their jobs by never letting her know her license was suspended. It’s a conspiracy, don’t you know?

I looked online and you can apparently pay the NYS DMV online. If she had a receipt she is probably fine. No matter how stomping mad you get it still seems reasonably weird that she didn’t know. She is one of hundreds of DA’s across the country who were run and sponsored by the far left. They are anti-cop and want us to “reimagine the police” which is the new pet phrase they are spreading across the country. Obama and others are on camera urging us to “reimagine our police”. I think Obama and other so-called important people should “reimagine their security detail” if they expect us to reimagine our police. By reimagining, they need to do what they expect us to do, protect themselves. Michelle Obama and his children need to learn how to use those nasty guns they so despise because without their ever-present security detail, they will need them just as we will need guns if we have no police.

Big difference between state troopers – overtime abusers- and local police. Local police have a very difficult and dangerous job. A domestic call, a traffic stop, could result in death for the officer. There are too many guns in the hands of the wrong people, some of which were obtained legally. Defunding police is absurd but so is putting your knee on the neck of a prone suspect and killing him. What is the answer?

Interesting. I will have to check those stats. Way back when J. Krol was stumping for AH, he had the stupidity to compare her to Larry Krasner. Maybe he thought there are no lawyers in Berkshire Co. who know of Krasner? He is a very experienced and well-regarded criminal trial attorney. Not a political hack like AH. Once challenged on that comparison, Krol dropped it. I think the Kapanskis knew enough to not vote for AH but the well-meaning whites of GB, Lenox and similar locales thought they knew better. I’m interested in following up on your assertion that homicide numbers doubled since Krasner took over.

I think the Chief Wynn should have Sgt Herland, summons her into court for driving on a suspended license. A criminal ticket doesn’t have to be issued right there and then. It’s the preferred method, but not the only way. It can be sent certified mail or delivered in hand. PPD knows where she works.

A criminal summons will make her answer to the charges. Just summons her into court, like you do anybody else. The court would dismiss the charges, because her license is valid now, but I feel the police owe the citizens (the taxpayers) that. The DA should have her day ruined, just like it would for the rest of us.

Plus, being that she is the Berkshire DA, they’d have to send it to a different jurisdiction, to avoid conflict of interest. So, I think an unnecessary road trip to Springfield or Greenfield would be just desserts for her and us. Let her sit in the court gallery for an hour or so, just like everybody else. She’s not a celebrity or famous, so she doesn’t need VIP treatment.

Had she just woman’d up and owned it, no big deal. But to blame everybody else, sounds like the same story every domestic abusers will tell-“she made me…,” “he made me…”You know, the same people she rightfully rails against. The problem, as the DA, you can’t use their handbook on how to try and get out of trouble.

Try to call MA DMV: hours, days, weeks , months, that is MA DMV 800 “help” lines…..

Her license was reinstated after paying fines and fees. It was reinstated in March 2020 after she drove on a suspended license for 5 months. You don’t need to go to court for hearing to get reinstated. You can do that over the phone. You just need the documents and the money.

Dan doesn’t stop your stuff, it gets stopped automatically based on words, links, IP address.

Seems it was reinstated AFTER her one-way driving incident, not in March. Either way, she was driving criminally for MONTHS!

It was reinstated/released NY in March of 2020. The fact that Squeaky waited until September 4, 2020 to pay the reinstatement fee in MA is on her. Again evidence she doesn’t know how the law works.

Hello Dan Valenti, I am not “Marxist Melle”, as “Mr. Fritz” always writes on your awesome blog. Karl Marx lived in the 19th Century during the height of the Industrial Revolution. He never lived in a Socialist/Communist country. He did not practice what he preached. He was not for Human Rights, and wrote racist words against Blacks and Jews. I believe Socialism and Communism always leads to Authoritarianism. Millions of innocent people died because of Authoritarianist regimes. I believe our great and beloved country – USA – no longer practices Capitalism. We make our money off of selling military weapons and technology to the World. When Wall Street wins, the billionaires win, but when Wall Street loses, the proverbial “Have Nots” are used as an insurance policy for Wall Street to cash in for trillions of dollars in government bailouts. Our national debt is $27 trillion, and it is expected to grow to $78 trillion in just 8 years by 2028. We live in post-industrial America where we profit off of war, militarism, and huge economic inequality. I do not believe we are on a sustainable path anymore. My hope is for democracy to survive in the 21st Century. My vision for America and the World is for Human Rights, socioeconomic justice, and democracy. All I want out of politics is for everyone out there to have a fair shot at living a rewarding life. Best regards, Jonathan Melle

There is a book out now called “The Devil and Karl Marx” by Paul Kengor. It is now a bestseller. A review of the book describes it as “An amazing, eye-opening look at the origins of communism, socialism (and so-called “democratic socialism”): A severely troubled and likely spiritually oppressed man – if not worse. Karl Marx should be no one’s role model. And Marxist philosophies are a reflection of the personal life of Marx.” This is required reading for everyone with all of the Marxism surrounding us in this country and the world.

Sad situation at Hillcrest Commons on Valentine Rd., and maybe all such facilities in Pittsfield.

Patients can’t get any rest because of the constant noise, especially overnight as staff yuck it up in the hallways laughing, talking loudly. And banging and singing??!!! during the day?

Supervisor said can’t do anything about it? Wa? How about instructing staff to SHUT UP?

Supposed to be a place of rest and recovery while getting stronger. I guess not.

BMC floors often not much better.

Extremely unprofessional. Malpractice even.

Patients not bathed regularly, if at all.

Perhaps the state needs to step in and investigate the conditions and competency of the management at Hillcrest Commons.

So true. I know someone who lives in that facility and even though they have kept the virus out of this nursing home which is great; in every other way the nursing home has serious problems. Some healthcare workers there do not seem concerned about the patients, and bathing of patients is seldom happening which is why they have cases of scabies from time to time. Maybe they need to hire a lot more help. Not sure what is going on at that nursing home, but many people are not receiving very good care in that facility. Supervisors do nothing to solve any of these issues.

Hold your breakfast. Harrington on RBG: “I would not be the first female Berkshire DA without her & her generation blazing a trail for women in the law.” Sorry but in your case it was a bunch of clueless voters led down the primrose path by local Democratic so-called leaders. Sucking up to Bouvier, Hinds, Pignatelli etc certainly paid off for you. Speaking of paid, when did you come up with the idea that you don’t have to pay taxes?

$#!t#ole is what PITTSfield has become.

Poop in the parks, poop on the sidewalks ( not just dog poop), used needles all over, bums begging at intersections, ……

Now THAT, is dynamic and vibrant, ask AWOL mayor Linda and can’t count Barry

“Orwell’s Animal Farm, and 1984 were supposed to be warnings, not instruction manuals.”

When Crewdson started taking photo shoots in Pittsfield, Mayor Tyer cooed about how great it was Crewdson chose Pittsfield. I don’t think she knew that his work is about decay and decline. The Berkshire Museum had one of his photos but I believe the museum sold it. More decay and decline for vibrant, dynamic Pittsfield. The City could be so much better. Lousy leadership.

It’s funny as the City agreed to not pick up trash etc for his shoots. Is that their excuse now?
Don’t get me started on the Berkshire Museum. They should have shut down and donated all their art to the other local museums. Now they have yet another graft bucket for the regular suspects to pilfer.

Hello Mary E. Carey,

As always, you are and always will be my favorite journalist ever. I always loved reading your news articles, movie reviews, and blog posts over the years. I read your past blog posts about you meeting Great Barrington’s artist Gregory Crewdson in New York City. I am unable to read your blog now because it is not open to the public anymore. I thought the following news article would interest you.

https://amp.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2020/sep/20/the-big-picture-hard-times-in-pittsfield-massachusetts

To give proper credit, I found out about this news article on Dan Valenti’s blog page, which was posted by one of his readers.

When Gregory Crewdson has had art exhibits in London, NYC, and L.A. about Pittsfield’s distressed community, I always wonder what people there see and think about our native hometown of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. I believe they think it is “Dickensian” and shows the rock bottom of post-industrial America.

I wish to say that many good people tried to help Pittsfield recover from its loss of tens of thousands of GE and related industrial jobs over the years/decades, but Pittsfield politics never did anything to develop Pittsfield’s post-industrial distressed economy for its working class population. Pittsfield is one of the most economically unequal metro-areas in the state (of Mass.) and nation. There are little to no living wage jobs for the average working family there.

I believe Pittsfield uses “Perverse Incentives”, which is an Economics term that says a bad actor profits off of deleterious societal outcomes. I believe that all of the poverty, crime, jobless, welfare, alcohol/drug addicted, lottery/gambling addicts, and the like keep Pittsfield in business. In closing, I do not believe Pittsfield politics really wants economic development, living wage jobs, a strong middle class with healthy families, and a safe inner city that is otherwise derisively called “Social Services Alley” by day, and the “Shooting Gallery” by night.

Best wishes,

Jonathan A. Melle

Sources say Squeaky is planning a tax payer funded trip to DC with a number of other DA’s from across the country. She wants to be there for RBG lying in state and funeral and will make it a pow wow session about the next SCOTUS, progressive DAs and all that gobbledie-gook.
Projected cost is about $2,000-$4,000.
Do you think she’s gonna take Andy with her?

If true, Soros et al will pay for that just as with her boondoggle to Portugal. Given her tax situation we can rest assured someone outside Berkshire County who is influencing her will pay.

They are going to have a big pow-wow in DC to scheme about “reimagining the police”. Oh, it probably is about the death of RBG, but it’s also a chance for all the far leftist district attorneys in the country to refine their game plan for America….no police, no prisons, lawlessness everywhere, etc.
