PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

EDITOR’S NOTE: Before we begin, we would like to pass along news of Jonathan Levine’s death. For 30 years, Jonathan published the Pittsfield Gazette, essentially as a one-man operation running on fumes. For those 30 years, readers received an alternative view of city politics and happenings. Jonathan was tireless, and no one attended more meetings or worked harder in the oft-unrewarding backwaters of local journalism. THE PLANET, saddened personally by the death of a man we respected, extends our deepest sympathies to Jonathan’s family, friends, and loved ones.

———- ooo ———-

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY JUNE 23, 2021) — Welcome to summer.

Did you rock out on Joonteenth? For clarification, when referring to the genuine observance of the day, THE PLANET spells  it Juneteenth, giving its proper honor. However, when referring to the force-fed new federal holiday, it’s Joonteenth, when once again Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski get screwed to support nearly all public employees and many in the Dreaded Private Sector.

Just what America needed, another fake holiday.

Joonteenth? File it under “R” for “Reparations,” probably the most ill-advised thrust of social engineering since National Secretaries Day. On June 19, 1865, Union troops led by General Gordon Granger in Galveston, Texas  informed 250,000 enslaved people of their freed status, two-plus after the passage of the Emancipation Proclamation, according to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

In today’s current drive regarding reparations for slavery, a tiny minority on the extreme left found the perfect issue with which to browbeat reason into submission. How do they do it? The loons employ “cancel culture” to silence logic and dispassion, making of civic sanity collateral damage. In doing so, they have turned “reparations” into a form of back-door segregation.

Actually, if you want to talk about reparations, they’ve already been made, payment in full on April 9, 1895, when Lee surrendered to Grant. Or haven’t you heard about the American Civil War (1861-1865), in which there were 1.5 million casualties?

———- ooo ———-

Today and Friday, we delve into THE PLANET dictionary to define two terms favored by social engineers, predominately though not exclusively on the extreme left: Cancel Culture and Critical Race Theory.

Today, we take on Cancel Culture.

What is Cancel Culture?

THE PLANET had a rough idea, but to fully educate ourselves, we read a variety of information from the left, the right, and Switzerland, that is, neutral information such as Brittanica.com and others. Here’s a helpful entry from Brittanica that serves well as an overview:

Pro and Con: Cancel Culture

The summary of the article:

Pro

  • Allows marginalized people to seek accountability where the justice system fails.
  • Gives a voice to disenfranchised or less powerful people.
  • It’s a new form of boycott, a cherished tactic in the civil rights movement, to bring about social change.

Con

  • Amounts to online bullying and can incite violence and threats.
  • It is not productive and does not bring about social change.
  • Callout culture is a slippery slope and leads to intolerance as people systematically exclude anyone who disagrees with their views.

After our immersion into this cheap, 21st century product, THE PLANET suggests that, on the whole, Cancel Culture has more cost than benefit, does more harm than good, and increases the pressures on conformity rather than nurtures individualism. In short, it’s brimstone for the human spirt and for certain people a totalitarian inducement for endorsing  party-line orthodoxy. Shades of Stalinism.

———- ooo ———-

RIDDLE: What does Kylie Jenner, cheating on an exam, and Cancel Culture have in common?

ANSWER: They are all products of social media.

Cancel Culture is the high-tech cousin of the 1692 Salem Witch Trials. Self-appointed judges use social media shame to “out” anyone who disagrees with or “offends” them. The “guilty” are lynched without trial. If they hold a job, they are usually fired, especially in the lynch mobs of academia.

THE PLANET hopes this little tutorial help clarify the term. Both Cancel Culture and Critical Race Theory are having a corrosive effect on the free institutions of America. Unchecked, they will help destroy this country.

Which, it would seem to be, exactly what the activists intend.

Upcoming in The Weekend Edition, Critical Race Theory. Tomorrow, Thursday, our fearless review of The Berkshire Theater Group’s production of Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest.”

I have heard plenty about Critical Race Theory from both the right and left, and I have heard the term Cancel Culture used quite often by the right, but have never actually heard it used by the left.

Regarding reparations, I doubt that any African Americans would accept the claim that they were made in full when Lee surrendered to Grant, at least in part because the inequities persisted long after the civil war and remain even today.

Of course the left doesn’t use the term “Cancel Culture”. They don’t go around saying they just cancelled somebody, but that is exactly what they do. The on-line mob causes people to lose jobs and reputations. All the mob has to do is say someone is guilty of racism or some other “ism” and that person is toast. That is giving too much power to this woke mob.

Our government needs to stop the social engineering and reparations is part of that. Marxists and China and the radical Islamists want to portray America as racist for their own nefarious purposes which includes destroying our country.

Requiring an ID to vote is NOT cancelling minority voting and you KNOW it. 80% of Americans in a recent poll say that ID should be required for voting just like ID is required for doing most things in this country. Voting is no less important and it insures we do not have people voting more than once. I’m sure you are for people not voting more than once?

Critical Race Theory simply means that white history is taught by whites controlling the narrative. Critical Race theory simply means education that includes past excluded history and who would not want all history taught and why fear it.I am amazed at the number of white educated people who fear all history being told as it would explain how we got hear and still have racism because our ignorance is disreslectful to minorities.Do not fear the truth. FEAR is what is wrong with America. Fascism lives because of FEAR

In Critical Race Theory, do they still talk about how Africans are still enslaving their own people? The leading cause of death for a black man 16-35 is another black man (black on black violence)? Or is all of this conveniently left out?

Just blame it on Whitey. Shirley Edgerton does. Some how she scammed the tax-payer into a do-nothing job, to do just that.

What am I cherry picking TSC? Africans were enslaving their own long before white Europeans arrived and still continue to do so.

Black on black violence is out of control now more so than ever. Generally, if the demographics favor the black community in many cities, it tends to be violent and usually leads the FBI Uniform Crime Reports (UCR), in violent crimes committed by and against, those that live in those communities.

I understand that you, Linda, DA Wrong Way, Farley-Country-Buffet (D), Hinds, Sweet Pete White, all live in Fantasy Land and think big, bad, white, policemen, hunt the black man. But that is simply not true. Facts area facts, cupcake.

I ask again, what did I “cherry pick?”

I read the whole thing.

Trapper, you’ve got to consider the likelihood that the information in the link you post is correct. In my estimation, the information in the article is not likely to be accurate.

Why?

Because it is unlikely that the author would have access to the information he is citing. The article is about a high-level defector working with the DIA. You need to ask yourself: why would the author — ” a retired engineer with 40 years of experience in the areas of product development, quality assurance, organizational development, and corporate strategic planning ” — have access to info about a DIA defector?

It is unlikely. It is, however, likely that he got paid for his article.

Yes, the right, not the left, uses the term ‘cancel culture’. The right has made up and defined the term, and claim that it is perpetrated by the left on the right.

That is just a little too convenient. The left can say anything they want when they don’t like what they see, just like the right can. To say that only the left is practicing ‘cancel culture’ is disingenuous.

The owner of the winner of the Kentucky Derby publicly blamed ‘cancel culture’ (that is, the left) for his horse failing his post-race drug test. He was actually attempting to politicize the matter by blaming the left.

Dan’s (and Britannica’s) framing of the argument by saying ‘cancel culture’ has XYZ pros and XYZ cons is also disingenuous, because it makes the fallacious assumption that it is mostly the left that practices ‘cancel culture’.

As the Britannica article points out, Bill Cosby was ‘canceled’ (= criticized) because he was caught secretly using drugs on women in order to rape them.

K: ‘Cancel Culture’ is a media term; it is more junk. The concern is totalitarianism. Soviets never used that word either, but totalitarianism begins at home in each individual’s head. Each citizen is required to police his own thoughts, and eventually finds the easiest ones to generate are those that are free of negative consequence both self inflicted or not. So, the observation that individual A is not aware of self-policing is not an indication that it isn’t happening.

I took a linguistics course in Russian language way back when. The professor made us read 100 pages a day of soviet pedagogy in the original lingo. His idea was that it’s so dull that we would be forced to skim sans dictionary and actually understand it. He was a genius; us not so much. I discovered the rare endangered race of Serbo-Cromagnans, only to learn that I had misread….

When I attended WC, the faculty were well split between Republican and Democrats. I left as the Cultural Crisis spilled onto campus. With 4 years of debate over ‘political correctness’ (with the residual question of whether P.C. is a good idea) and finally the Grand Locuter arrives in 1991 to debate the Cultural Crisis in Academia. The Hair of Jacques Derrida arrives. We all had to see it for ourselves, and it was just like in the books: a sculptural marvel!

Five or six other academics attended the debate on ‘cultural crises.’ Derrida’s Hair said, “A crisis is good. Time to change. I have jetlag….” A conservative historian made a paragraph until a progressive saw his chance. He jumped over her and personally insulted her to a rising cadence, and the entire Chapin Hall exploded in hoots and cheers. The conservative historian was humiliated, squashed with literal tears and her cheeks.

Now, there are no conservatives on campus at Williams College, and there is a Social Justice protest held every semester.

Well, I think that is a shame. My grandfather, sister and nephew went to Williams, and I have good friends that teach there. I am sorry they treated Derrida’s heir so poorly. I would’ve thought Williams would be a little more sympathetic to the right.

I have doubts about the loose use of ‘right’ and ‘left.’ EG., communists are called ‘left.’ Fascists are called ‘right.’ In reality they are the same and frequently fund each other as well as ally. Reaching back, Franco, Mussolini, and Hitler were allies, and each imposed the supremacy of the State and its ideology upon anyone within its reach.

Clearly, it is too soon for thinking that we are thinking. We need to lay some groundwork and define the terms. I gave you one for CC, now we need to define the terms right and left.

Continued from lower down….
Back in the ’80’s, we liked to identify the military hawks as ‘right’ – Reagan and ICBM’s; Left was anti-nuke, anti-nuke power too.

Now, the left loves a strong military and are in favor of expanding nuclear power to the complete detriment of aquatic life that needs cool water. (Heat pollution is also destructive, and no one cares about nuclear waste storage anymore)

These two terms are too fluid to stand the test of time in my opinion.

Some African Americans obviously want money and look for any excuse. The fact that inequities persisted for long after the Civil War has nothing to do with the economic distribution now. There is no “white privilige”. It is a very common mistake to believe that the economy is a “zero sum” game where the gains of one group is dependent on the losses of another. This is progressive lie. The gains of any group are based on their opportunities and efforts. We need to help those who have done poorly but not on the basis of race. We need to help them because they need to be helped.

Jonathan Melle
Jonathan Melle

Our country was founded by so-called religious white settlers from Europe committing genocide to the tune of around 50 million native American Indigenous Peoples and stealing their land and cultures for over three centuries. The Founding Fathers mostly owned Slaves, but fought the British Empire in the Revolutionary War in the name of classical Liberty. The word Capitalism is nowhere to be found in ALL of the written documents by the mostly slave holding Founding Fathers. When the U.S. Constitution was written and ratified by the states, nearly all of the industry was agricultural. In the 19th Century, the U.S.A. went through the Industrial Revolution where millions of U.S. Citizens and immigrants were exploited to create the 20th Century capitalist society we live in today. During the U.S. Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln wanted to free the Slaves and then send all of the black people back to Africa by force. Lincoln was assassinated before he could forcefully deport the former slaves and free black people back to Africa. U.S. History forgets that Abe Lincoln was really a racist who wanted a white supremacist America. After the Civil War, the U.S.A. entered the Gilded Age where Oligarchs controlled nearly all of the money in the U.S. economy. Blacks and other minorities endured second class citizenship under racist Jim Crow law and segregation. The U.S. Government and the states oversaw racist eugenics laws that were designed to decrease and eliminate black and disabled people from society. The U.S. Government in the 1920s passed racist immigration laws that targeted Jewish People and Italian People from immigrating to America. In the 1920s, Adolf Hitler published books where he praised the U.S. Government for passing laws that discriminated against Jews, Blacks, other minorities, and the disabled. It wasn’t until President Harry Truman that the U.S. Armed Forces were desegregated. Post World War 2, the “white flight” out of cities into the suburbs saw redlining and some communities did not allow black people to buy homes in their suburbs. It wasn’t until the mid-1960s when the U.S. Government passed the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts to end Jim Crow and treat black people as equals under federal law. After black people had equal rights in the mid-1960s, the federal government stopped investing in the working class and underclass. Instead, big business and big government implemented class warfare or structural conflict and violence against all of the American People who weren’t wealthy – thereby killing the American Dream of Social Mobility to rise up from poverty and into the middle class. In the 1970s through today (2021), the gap between rich and poor is now the largest in 100 years. The only two groups who grow in the U.S. economy or financial system are the dynastic billionaire families who run Wall Street and the U.S.A.’s huge underclass. There have been many recent academic books that explain that the U.S.A. is more classist today than it was 100 years ago. The U.S.A. used to criticize foreign countries such as the United Kingdom and India for its rigid class system, but now in 2021, the U.S.A. is more classist than both the U.K. and India. In 2021, the U.S.A. is in a K-shaped economic recovery for Wall Street, but an economic recession for Main Street. Big Business and Big Government – the corporate elite and the ruling elite – are doing better than ever, while the American People are experiencing a distressed economy that causes them only economic pain and financial loss. In the Swamp, K Street corporate lobbyist firms spend millions and billions of dollars buying off Members of U.S. Congress to give their well heeled big business clients trillions of public dollars and tax breaks. President Biden and his Biden “Crime” Family are all very wealthy thanks to suspect Hunter Biden’s alleged money laundering business schemes with adversarial foreign countries such as China, Russia and Ukraine. Let us all not forget that U.S. Government is in the business of war and arm sales. The U.S.A.’s number one non-farm export are military weapons to foreign governments. Since the end of World War 2, the U.S. Government, military, and the like, has killed millions upon millions of foreign Peoples in endless wars to make Wall Street trillions upon trillions of dollars in money. The U.S. Government still controls 85 to 90 percent of Iraq’s second largest oil fields (next to Saudi Arabia) in the world by military force. The U.S.A. is the second largest polluter of global warming greenhouse gases in the world; China is the largest. When one puts China and the U.S.A. together, the two countries alone account for nearly 50 percent of the world’s global warming pollution. In 2008, both the Democrat and Republican Parties in the Swamp gave Wall Street trillions of dollars in bailouts after Wall Street nearly destroyed the U.S. economy; while foreign banks who do business on Wall Street received hundreds of billions in federal bailout dollars. Big business was rewarded by the Swamp for bringing the U.S. economy to its knees in 2008! To be clear, the Swamp continually mortgages our country’s future to redistribute wealth to the top one percent or Wall Street year after year – “the system is rigged”, as U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren likes to say. In closing, the U.S. Government is all about the Almighty Dollar instead of their propaganda about democracy and rule by law that they push on the American People and the world. I wish I could write that the Founding Fathers didn’t own Slaves, Abe Lincoln wasn’t a racist, the 20th Century was fair to all Americans, and millions upon millions of foreign Peoples weren’t killed by our for profit war machine, and the 21st Century wasn’t K-shaped in the form of record economic inequality, but I would be lying.

Abraham Lincoln’s views on slavery was “misleading.” The five professors wrote that the project “ignores (Lincoln’s) conviction that the Declaration of Independence proclaimed universal equality, for Blacks as well as whites” and ignores his agreement with Frederick Douglass that the Constitution was “a glorious liberty

I am not sure that the side that is denying the insurrection should be talking about “cancel culture”. A little self reflection may be in order.

Any discussion of “reparations” should end right now. If the black community feels that racism in America is systemic they should consider how they would feel if they were white and were asked to pay for bad things that happened before they were even born. And I say that because I believe reparations will anger many white people who were not angry before and undo progress which has been achieved.

Thanks for the note on self reflection. I agree.

But I do not agree with your statement on reparations.

Reparations will anger certain whites, to be sure. But the bad things that happened before they were born clearly extend into the present in the form of systemic racism.

I am somewhat in agreement with MT. The reparations can of worms is a large one. I am not sure there is an ethnic group whose ancestors were not beaten, tortured, raped or maligned at some point in time.
And were there black people in Africa who sold black slaves to the white man? Were there black slave owners?
But what I really do not get is why someone thinks todays white man owes todays black man for something that happened to long dead people a very long time ago. What did I do?

Yes, I understand your point, P-to-P. You didn’t do anything. But there is a major problem in American society — it is a cancer on the society that is the direct result of slavery, our original sin. We need to try to rectify it. Unfortunately that takes affirmative action and all the obvious reverse inequities that follow from that.

I think we should tax the rich to make the process easier on those who are now being discriminated against to implement the social engineering that is affirmative action.

Not misleading at all in my view. I think K’s point, if correct, raises reasonable suspicions warranting further investigation.

K: What do you mean, “that’s all”? ‘That’s All’ means that nothing more is intended than to infiltrate. Infiltration for the sake of infiltration is possible, I suppose. We know that the KGB infiltrated for the sake of infiltration mostly (they infiltrated every single citizen), but even there, ‘that’s all’ would not apply.

Really? The FBI infiltrated a group intending an insurrection, participated in it, but did not warn the Capitol Police, much less attempt to stop it? Leading up to the 9/11 terrorist homicides, it was the CIA that shafted the FBI (with responsibility for the death of the lead investigator of the criminal cells) and they got investigated. Shouldn’t Congress be investigating the FBI for this event?

In my view America is the greatest country because they allow individuals to be free to choose how to live, even if it’s in a basement typing away on a computer ignorant thoughts. What strikes this writer is how closed minded one side is to the opposite view. I see one side offer actual evidence via statements and videos while the other side just calls them names. This other side is actually the one that brought anti bullying education into the schools, maybe they should read up on it so they can change their bullying to civilized discourse. As for upward mobility I personally know of minority classmates who have climbed the social and professional ladder. It took drive, smarts and commitment…and also not viewing themselves as a victim!

“We all want justice, but not at the expense of truth”

Historian Gordon Wood

https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2019/12/24/nytr-d24.html

I have spent my career studying the American Revolution and cannot accept the view that “one of the primary reasons the colonists decided to declare their independence from Britain was because they wanted to protect the institution of slavery.” I don’t know of any colonist who said that they wanted independence in order to preserve their slaves. No colonist expressed alarm that the mother country was out to abolish slavery in 1776. If southerners were concerned about losing their slaves, why didn’t they make efforts to ally with the slaveholding planters in the British West Indies? Perhaps some southern slaveholders were alarmed by news of the Somerset decision, but we don’t have any evidence of that. Besides, that decision was not known in the colonies until the fall of 1772 and by that date the colonists were well along in their drive to independence. Remember, it all started in 1765 with the Stamp Act. The same is true of Dunmore’s proclamation of 1775. It may have tipped the scales for some hesitant Virginia planters, but by then the revolutionary movement was already well along in Virginia.
There is no evidence in 1776 of a rising movement to abolish the Atlantic slave trade, as the 1619 Project erroneously asserts, nor is there any evidence the British government was eager to do so. But even if either were the case, ending the Atlantic slave trade would have been welcomed by the Virginia planters, who already had more slaves than they needed. Indeed, the Virginians in the years following independence took the lead in moving to abolish the despicable international slave trade.
How could slavery be worth preserving for someone like John Adams, who hated slavery and owned no slaves? If anyone in the Continental Congress was responsible for the Declaration of Independence, it was Adams. And much of our countrymen now know that from seeing the film of the musical “1776.” Ignoring his and other northerners’ roles in the decision for independence can only undermine the credibility of your project with the general public. Far from preserving slavery the North saw the Revolution as an opportunity to abolish the institution. The first anti-slave movements in the history of the world, supported by whites as well as blacks, took place in the northern states in the years
immediately following 1776.

Re: Inner City Pittsfield (Mass.) residents live in fear of gun violence – June 23, 2021

Please read the following news story by WAMC’s Josh Landes about gun violence in inner city Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

https://www.wamc.org/post/pittsfield-city-council-presses-mayor-gun-violence-plan

The inner city Pittsfield residents live in fear of gun violence. I know I haven’t lived in or around Pittsfield for over 17 years now, but I am saddened that North Street is known as “Social Services Alley” instead of a business district, while the area around North Street is known as the “Ring of Poverty” with decades of entrenched intergenerational family poverty, welfare and criminal cases.

My theory about why Pittsfield sucks is that the state and local leaders use inner city Pittsfield’s worst rated Level 5 public schools, social services programs, welfare caseloads, and criminal caseloads all as revenue sources instead of investing in the underclass and working poor who live there. I call it “Perverse Incentives”, which is similar to the state lottery regressive taxation predatory scheme that takes advantage of the unknowing poorest people and communities in Massachusetts.

Mayor Linda Tyer married a millionaire Accountant named Barry Clairmont who owns a near one million dollar home in a wealthy and elitist gated community very close to the Pittsfield border with Hancock. The Lovely Linda and Barry are very political in state and local government, but they are also disconnected from the majority of people who live in Pittsfield. I still believes the Mayor cares about all of the people who live in Pittsfield, but she in unfortunately unavailable to them.

How the hell can you say “she cares about all the people,”but is unavailable to them in the same sentence? Yeah, some new FN social programs ought to stop the shootings. She and the DA knows full well the gangbangers turf wars over drugs, guns, prostitution and whatever else they are into are the problem causing said gun violence. Stop the social justice warriors approach to enforcement with these problems and end it with the full extent of the law as promised, like when it’s campaign season.

I would NOT want to be Mayor of Pittsfield, Massachusetts! Mayor Linda Tyer inherited a mess from all of the failed Mayors before her. She obviously hasn’t changed things for the better! BUT, I don’t believe anyone out there could. She is part of Godfather Jimmy Ruberto’s useless faction of the one political party -the state Democratic Party – that is ran by the same Boston Democratic Party leaders who ran a homophobic smear campaign against Alex Morse to favor K Street’s favorite PAC Man Richie Neal in last year’s Congressional election in September of 2020. Tricia Farley Bouvier is another loyal Lieutenant of Godfather Jimmy Ruberto. She has gone to Boston’s corrupt Statehouse for nearly one decade now, but she has proven herself to be a do nothing rubber stamp for Boston’s corrupt State House leadership that only does DISSERVICES to the people of Massachusetts. Chrome Dome Adam Hinds lives in a $690,000 home in Amherst, Massachusetts, which is NOT in his legislative district. Godfather Jimmy Ruberto has given the people and taxpayers of Pittsfield two of his loyal women politicians, along with one Chrome Dome, who all have NOT changed things for the better in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. I wonder how things are going in Jimmy Ruberto’s hometown of Naples, Florida? I wonder how Jimmy Ruberto likes his $490,000 Summer condo in upper class Lenox? Jimmy Ruberto is too good to live in Pittsfield! BUT, Jimmy Ruberto sure screwed over Pittsfield during and after his 8 years as Mayor of Pittsfield (2004- 2011). Sarcasm: I read that the Berkshire Museum is fishing his Rolodex out of the bottom of Silver Lake to put it on display so that museum goers can learn how Pittsfield lost a record number of living wage jobs and thousands of residents to population loss during and after Jimmy Ruberto’s time in the corner office in Pittsfield City Hall. PUKE!!!!

The mayor is simply dancing on the piano until her very lucrative mayoralship is over. When she has that glass of wine with her pheasant dinner I doubt she spends one second worrying about the people 3 miles to the east of her little mountainside haven. When that heavy iron gate protecting her home closes for the night and Barry lights up the fire pit, I imagine her phone gets shut off and gun shots are the farthest thing from her mind.

Brown university should pay reparations: The Browns, one of the great mercantile families of colonial America, were Rhode Island slave traders. At least six of them — James and his brother Obadiah, and James’s four sons, Nicholas, John, Joseph, and Moses — ran one of the biggest slave-trading businesses in New England, and for more than half a century the family reaped huge profits from the slave trade. “When James Brown sent the Mary to Africa in 1736, he launched Providence into the Negro traffic and laid the foundation for the Brown fortune. From this year until 1790, the Browns played a commanding role in the New England slave trade.”[1] Their donations to Rhode Island College were so generous that the name was changed to Brown University.

Somewhere around year six of his presidency, Obama entered into a trade agreement with Afghanistan.
What the HELL was he thinking Afghanistan would bring to the world market? Carpets??
Within two years of that agreement America was drowning in heroin.
Don Winslow interviewed El Chapo, and wrote an article about it for Esquire a few years ago, and to summarize:
El Chapo flatout states that if it weren’t for American demand for drugs, he wouldn’t exist.
And then this is where it gets interesting: he says that when Oregon and Washington legalized weed it cost him billions of dollars. Yes, that’s a “b”, billions.
Like any business, he needed to offset those losses somehow. There were Afghani’s living in Mexico, and he meets with them.
And he goes on to say that heroin is a much better product for him business-wise because he makes obscene profits with less product, transportation and delivery is less cumbersome, etc.
And then he tells Winslow you know that’s a good gig but what’s even better is a few dollars worth of chemicals and two guys in a lab making almost the same product, and I don’t have to manage workers and fields and the profit margin with fentanyl is even higher. And he’s absolutely thrilled with the demand in the US.
See, that’s the dirty little secret about drugs: people like to get high. And in America we like to get high a lot.
The number of people in the US who are addicts is almost statistically negligible, it’s something like 2% of the population.
But the impact is NOT neglible. So what we hear a lot about is the cost in terms of able-bodied workers being unavailable due to their heroin use, productivity, the cost impact on healthcare yadda yadda.
And that’s all well and good if you leave China out of the equation.
The progressives will say I’m a racist for saying this but this is serious chemical warfare on our country by China.
Because it’s not the nine to five bricks. and mortar workforce that we’re losing to fentanyl; it’s the young men and women who my otherwise have joined the military, end up on whom we call to boost our military ranks should we go to war.
It’s utterly diabolical and absolutely brilliant strategy if you think about it.
But fear not! I have the solution!
Remember back in the day when a kid got in trouble sometimes the judge would say okay you have a choice to make: you can go to jail or you can go into the army.
So I propose that every person who gets jammed up legally due to drugs in America don’t send them to treatment, don’t send them to jail, detox them, and then put them into the armed forces.
Now that would be restorative justice at its finest if you ask me!
