PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY JAN. 24, 2022) — Last week, THE PLANET shared news from the Pittsfield Fire Department. In fact, we broke the news of a strange car fire that eventually took the life of 69-year-old Barry Dunnels.

Our transmission:

———- ooo ———-

On Wednesday morning at 0842 hours [8:42 a.m.] the Pittsfield Fire Department responded to 7 Second Street for a reported motor vehicle fire. Upon arrival Engine 3 found (1) motor vehicle on fire with impingement on other vehicles. Bystanders alerted responders that an occupant was still in the burning vehicle. E3 crew removed the victim and began administering aide. Car2, Engine 6, Truck 2, and County Ambulance responded. The victim was transported to Berkshire Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

The vehicle was parked at time of the fire and not caused by an MVC. A total of (3) vehicles were damaged as a result of this incident. There was only (1) civilian injured. The incident is being investigated by PPD, MSP Fire Marshal’s Office, and PFD Fire Investigation Unit.

Will it never, will it EVER, end? Huh, Madame Mayor? Buck stops with you, as you may know.

———- ooo ———-

A good friend pointed out that THE PLANET made a stretch worthy of Willie McCovey with our question of the mayor, bringing her instantly into a situation that had not been investigated. He didn’t say we gave Linda a cheap shot, but it was there, between the lines. We had no facts beyond what the PFD gave us. We reported those facts, verbatim. That final sentence was our commentary.

An investigation revealed that the car ignited from underneath, possibly from a ruptured fuel line. First responders administered first aid then took him to BMC, where Dunnells died. The medical examiner has not yet issued a cause of death, at least as of press time, and the state fire marshal’s office is investigating.

Bottom line and after a booth review: THE PLANET agrees with our critic who said we issued a rush to judgment linking the mayor to the incident. There are no do-overs in real-time cyberspace journalism, but this is the next best thing. To the mayor, if we had to do it again, we’d do it differently. This round is on us.

The case isn’t strange because Dunnells was in a 2002 Monte Carlo. Seems that every other one tends to catch fire for some reason.

What troubles us is why he didn’t exit the car when he realized it was on fire? That’s the mystery here. Or DID he realize it? One source said he was “incapacitated.” Interpret that as you wish. If that is so, and we don’t know that it is, the word suggests to us alcohol, drugs, or foul play. If that is so, the story becomes something else. If not, well, just another bad deal.

———- ooo ———-

THE PLANET has one Monte Carlo story to relate involving a road trip made on Jan. 20, 1979 with fellow news hawk Gary Van Dusen. We journeyed to Philadelphia to see the Boston Celtics take on the Philadelphia 76ers at the old Spectrum. Gary had just purchased a brand new Monte Carlo. We were taking the car’s first extended drive, and the drive from New York through Pennsylvania was met with a nasty mix of snow, ice, and sleet.

Of course, halfway down the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the Monte Carlo’s windshield wipers quit. We pulled into a service station (they actually had service back then) and the mechanic peeked and poked. Something in the connection had shorted. There was a burning smell. Were we close to a fire?

The car dealt with snow like a Floridian, that is, not good. Like Paul Simon crooned, “Slip Slidin’ Away.” On the way back, the wipers quit again, with no service stations open. To keep up with the conditions, Gary, the driver, had to stick with his head out the left front window in the blizzard, navigate, and relay his instructions to me while I leaned over and steered. We made it home safe and somewhat sound.

Monte Carlo? Nevah again.

Incidentally, the Celtics were in the midst of a woeful 29-53 season — this wasn’t the powerful Cs of Russell-Cousy. This lineup boasted the likes of Marvin Barnes and Curtis Rowe. Nonetheless, they prevailed, 108-102. Unknown to the Sixers, I had brought the Cs leprechaun with me. Smuggled him inside. Today, while checking for bombs, guns, and beer, the little guy would never make it past security.

Checking into a game today calls to mind being held in a police lineup. Welcome to the land of the free. One year later, Red Auerbach landed Larry Bird and the Celts were on top of the world again, going 61-21, the biggest one-year jump in NBA history.

Yeah, Larry was that good.

So Linda, next time we have coffee, your money will be no good. PLANET‘s buying.

Pittsfield politics in the news:

Mayor Linda Tyer is holding a public event on Monday morning, January 24th, 2022, to announce the City of Pittsfield’s Invitation for Proposals for “Biden Buck$” funding. Community Organizations are invited to submit applications to her administration to receive $12.95 million in “Biden Buck$” funds, including for Veteran Services (Just Joking: I am a Veteran, Lovely Linda). The Pittsfield City Council will meet on Tuesday, January 25th, 2022, and they will vote on approving $162,400, which may be reimbursed by a FAA grant, from the city’s FREE CASH to remove “safety hazard” trees around the airport. Credit: Meg Britton-Mehlisch, The Berkshire Eagle, January 23, 2022.

Matt Kerwood updated the Pittsfield City Council’s FINANCE Committee about the city’s monetary stance a little over halfway through fiscal year 2022. Kufflinks reported that the hotels, motels and meals taxes are back to pre-pandemic levels. Kufflinks reported that the city collected 85% of its estimated marijuana tax. Kufflinks reminded Pittsfield taxpayers that their third quarter municipal tax bills are due on February 1st, 2022.

Get ready for Mayor Linda Tyer’s fiscal year 2023 municipal budget proposal this Spring of 2022. The Lovely Linda and Kufflinks Kerwood love to spend your Kapan$ki Ka$h.

Saturdays local paper Section D6 has aritcle suggesting that Pittsfield was personally created by God for all his angels. It does qualify it in small print as “sponsored content” though. No mention of dirty streets with a bounty of potholes, schools parents can’t get their kids out of fast enough, or the fact that Pittsfield is a western Mass drug hub with daily overdoses higher than the whole state average.

(or a city council designed to pamper special interests as opposed to the people whom elected them)

You, PLANET, are in the habit of regurgitating the sensational vomit the berkshire enquirer pukes up as if it actually has any merit, so that is on you. Pittsfield’s pulp tabloid has a history of dragging people through the mud. They’re the town crier for corrupt cops and crooked courts. They’re judge, jury and executioner, and to hell with truth and justice. They want no part of truth and justice. But on the subject of today’s vibrant topic, news of another bizarre death in tyertown, may I suggest this death in uptown tyertown be filed under long overdue and who gives a fuck! Don’t apologize to tyer. She deserves the scorn and disgust of the entire citizenry for her past, present and future contributions to the demise of Pittsfield. Pittsfield did not get better, and it did get worse because of her. The Dunnells and tyer-Clairmonts, they’re the same animal. The best the good citizens can hope for is that the devil comes to collect his due sooner than later.

As I was standing on my back deck in the middle of the night watching the snow fall my original intent was to post Robert Frost’s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening as my contribution to the PLANET today.

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though.
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Fire and Ice
by Robert Frost

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

What plan was in place for a Trump loss? The United States military was going to be used to take possession of all voting machines in ever red state where Trump got beat……This story should be the lead on every publication in America. The press is predominantly Right Wing Conservative…..American journalism is gone.
Attack public education, attack organized labor and buy up the news business and cut the budget of those that only purpose should be is to agitate power and report what is going on.
According to the Raddical fascist Republicans the democratic Presidents are not legitimate in this century.Steve Bannon recruited Trump for the job that required that he tear down our institutions and deliver a message that will make the people not trust their country. They won’t know the truth when he’s done.

Very mature of you Dan to apologize to “lovely Linda”. Now my question is will she be mature enough to apologize to all the Kapanski’s for what she has done to us during her whole political career? For some reason I don’t see that happening. My thoughts on how she can apologize without apologizing would be to cut taxes and leave office, again just my thoughts on the matter.

Was Andrew Couture listed among those promoted?

2015 – 121,489 – 158 percent higher than average and 175 percent higher than median salary in Pittsfield.

2016 – $133,515 – 196 percent higher than average and 218 percent higher than median salary in Pittsfield.

2017 – $150,181 – This salary is 207 percent higher than average and 218 percent higher than the median salary in Pittsfield.

2019 – $179,849 and

in 2020 Andrew Couture’s salary was $179,241.

So, you can’t honestly say that that doesn’t make you feel safe in your own home just knowing that Pittsfield Police Officers are not being devalued. If in fact you still don’t feel safe, protected and served by the PPD there’s also this:

Glen Decker 2020 – $205,429
Marc Strout 2020 – $176,542
Jeffrey Bradford 2020 – $165,992
John Mazzeo 2020 – $150,853
Jessica Godfroy 2020 – $147,399
David Kirchner 2020 – $154,845

Are you feeling it yet!

Maybe this will help you sleep better at night.

Michael Ortega 2015 – $206,112, 2016 – $218,826, and 2017 – $224,671.
Michael Winston 2015 – $169,948, 2016 – $177,825, and 2017 – $211,805.

It’s definitely more than just promoted cops.

I’d also like to know if the PPD budget includes funding for cops that don’t even exist, except for in the budget? Also has there ever been a year that Wynn has not exceeded his OVERTIME budget only to show up just before the end of the fiscal year with his hands out for more taxpayer $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ so the city could close out the year?

Why did the U.S. Government, including Joe Biden, vote to invade Iraq after 9/11/2001, but now the U.S. Government, led by Joe Biden, is telling Putin not to invade Ukraine, and also telling China not to invade Taiwan? What is the difference between the U.S. Government’s invasion of Iraq and Putin’s threat to invade Ukraine, as well as China’s threat to invade Taiwan? It sounds to me like it is the old do as I say, not as I did double standard. Lastly, I don’t think that Joe Biden calling Putin a “KILLER” on the world stage last year of 2021 is helping matters.

Bidens 1st year.

He’s allowed more than 1.2 million unvaccinated criminal aliens into the USA. Busing and flying them throughout the country. In just the last 5 months, the DHS dispersed 273,396 of these criminals, over 100,000 were given notice to report to ICE, less than 50,000 did and Biden has no idea where these criminals are. But they are receiving benefits funded by American citizens, spreading Covid and other diseases, and are immune from any “mandates” imposed by the tyrants in DC.

Source- Judicial Watch

Meanwhile in USA Americans know……… stores shelves are bare, prices are up, and Biden has banned unvaccinated truckers from crossing the border. What more of a threat, the truckers or the criminals?

Do You think the democrats have Americans health , safety, and well being as a priority Fizzled?

“Border agents captured a record 178,840 illegal border crossers in December. This is more illegals than the previous three Decembers combined under President Trump.

So far, in Joe Biden’s first year a record two million illegals will be captured and released into the US interior.

This is an invasion. But the Biden regime is worried about Ukraine’s border being breached!

According to FOX News reporter Bill Melugin the illegals were being flown from Brownsville to Atlanta, GA, Houston, TX, and Miami, FL — three red states that the Biden regime is purposely flooding with illegal aliens.”

Hello Patrick Fennell,

Joe Biden is a total failure as U.S. President. I agree with you that he should be legally removed from the Oval Office A.S.A.P. before he starts WW3 and the mass deaths of billions of innocent people and Peoples that would result from WW3. Joe Biden already threatened China with WW3 because of China’s threat to invade Taiwan, which his own White House Officials had to walk back with China. What is happening in Afghanistan is a Humanitarian Crisis whereby an estimated 14 million innocent people and Peoples, including an estimated 1 million children, are predicted to die there of preventable causes such as starvation and freezing to death during this Winter of 2021/2022. Joe Biden is doing nothing to stop the mass deaths in Afghanistan. True Evil is when Good Men (& Good Women) know there is EVIL things happening and then do nothing to stop it. However, Joe Biden is NOT a Good Man. Rather, Joe Biden is all about Money and Power. Joe Biden received more campaign money from Wall Street and K Street in 2020 than any other candidate that presidential on down election year. Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden is a total DISGRACE, but Joe Biden said he is proud of him. Joe Biden’s first year as U.S. President has been a disaster. Now we are in the second year of his presidency, and things are looking very ugly both at home and around the world.

Best wishes,

Mr. Fritz, It is true that I voted for Joe Biden/Kamala Harris in 2020 over Donald Trump/Mike Pence. I believe that Trump is a Nazi and Pence is a right-wing conservative Christian extremist; I believe that both Trump and Pence are nutjobs in their own right and they should not be in the White House in the future. I am disappointed with Joe Biden’s tenure in the White House. I believe that Joe Biden should no longer serve as U.S. President, and I would like to see him legally removed from the Oval Office A.S.A.P. I disagree with you that I am part of the problem because I am not an important political figure, party activist, or financial backer. I am NOT a Communist. I am NOT a Socialist. I am NOT a Capitalist. In fact, I believe that politics, economics and finance is always ruled by the Iron Rule of Oligarchy whereby the powerful Elites in every system are the proverbial Wolves, while the rest of us are the proverbial Sheeps – in the past, in the present, and in the future. Those who have power never give it up without a fight. That is why PAC Man Richie Neal has been in the Swamp since 1989. That is why Smitty Pignatelli has been in Boston since 2003. That is why Joe Biden (79), Nancy Pelosi (81; she turns 82 in 2 months), and Mitch McConnell (79; he turns 80 in less than one month) are all still running the show in the Swamp after many decades of enriching themselves at the public trough. I believe that PAC Man, Shitty, Xiden, Pelousy, and Moscow Mitch all only do DISSERVICES to the people and taxpayers. I dislike the Oligarchy of career politicians on both sides! Jonathan A. Melle

Demanding that Europe live up to its commitment is not weakening NATO.

Biden wans to use a war to bring on the Great Reset. Biden has no shame. He is swearing at reporters on a daily basis now. He seems to be losing it. He is taking our country down with him.

I wasn’t a huge fan of either Bush president. President Trump was an excellent leader who avoided war, but the media and far left have an agenda that President Trump didn’t want any part of, so they had to put him down on a daily basis as they continue to do just in case he runs in 2024.

Do you people really think Joe Biden is America s biggest problem? If he wanted war he could have stayed in Afghanistan and escalated it. Dan’s Planet is not the only planet you are on Pat. And Earth is not the other one.

Soon he will understand.

Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan, when asked Friday about Harrington’s tweet, said her move was uncommon.
“I just don’t understand making comments about some type of prosecution that’s in another part of the country,” he said. “I would reserve any comments about it until you see what unfolds. I mean, under most circumstances, you just don’t comment on other criminal matters.”

What about Hunter Biden? How come Hunter Biden was never charged? Is it because he is the son of Joe Biden?

Hunter Biden said and wrote that he used to smoke crack cocaine every 15 minutes while drowning himself in alcohol, spent his family’s money on strippers and sex workers instead of paying the monthly bills to provide for his then first wife and their 3 children, he then impregnated a young woman stripper half of his age and tried to lie to a Judge that he wasn’t the father of her baby but a court-ordered paternity test proved otherwise, then he remarried and fathered his 5th child with his second wife, and he is an alleged money launderer of many millions of dollars from adversarial foreign countries including China and Russia from which there is a U.S. Senate public report that said that he paid to have sex with Russian sex workers who may have been sex trafficked.

Can You Belive it ? The Planet hosting the Dan Valenti show decades ago, a guest on that wondered aloud that someday he would invent a flying car, toungue in cheek. I believe he was an attorney named Anthony ? Anyway the car is now been granted clearance by our government and that idea has become a reality. Price tag? Starts at 92g.

Fool me once from Great Barrington.

“Harrington is, sadly, an embarrassment. She looks good as a candidate, but is inexperienced, incompetent, and self-serving as a worker. Once, when asked who inspired her to become a lawyer, she cited TV lawyers, “especially L.A. Law.” Cute, but we need the real thing not an “acting” DA, a working DA not a perpetual candidate.”

Which, calling for a judge’s head without evidence, lying about a whistleblower, or voicing her support for a federally indicted prosecutor? Lying about her abilities, bribing an employee with a gag order, failing in her duty in a hate crime hoax. It’s just there are so many.
