PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

ADD 1, MAY 3, early evening: Bob Sullivan has ended his bid for Berkshire County district attorney and has endorsed Democrat Tim Shugrue, who will face D.A. Andrea Harrington in September.

Here is the full test of Sullivan’s statement:

ROBERT D. SULLIVAN, JR. CANDIDATE FOR BERKSHIRE DISTRICT ATTORNEY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELASE
As part of my campaign for Berkshire District Attorney, I have attempted to speak with as many residents as possible and have attempted to deliver my message and goals through various speaking engagements and other media. One of the keys to a successful campaign is to be able to use these community interactions to evaluate the climate of the community as it relates to the election. Elected leaders, and those seeking such positions cannot simply dictate their message, they also need to listen to the voice of the community they speak to. This climate can change, and it is therefore important to gauge it as frequently as possible. I have engaged in this analysis and believe that my goals for the community are best served by ending my campaign. From day one, I have made it clear that this campaign is not about me. It isn’t about a headline, my resume, politics, or power. It was about ending the failed experiment that currently exists and restoring skill and training to the chief prosecutor’s office with one goal in mind: public safety. It has become clear to me that the best way to achieve this goal is for me to work with and give my support to Tim Shugrue. Many supporters have recommended finding a way for Tim and I to work together to achieve our common goal. There can only be one District Attorney, and I believe Tim has shown a great ability to gather support for his campaign. I am now pledging my support to him and ask that anyone who has supported me do the same. If the failed experiment can be ended and skilled prosecution restored, I am willing to put myself aside for the common good of Berkshire County. Leadership doesn’t just come from the top; it is also about making the right decision for a common goal. I expect that many of my supporters will not have any problems with supporting Tim. To those that may be hesitant, know that I will be communicating with Tim regularly and am willing to work with his transition team to ensure that your voice is heard. I thank the community for their support, and I thank my team of volunteers for their hard work. You have made me proud to work tirelessly to represent your voice in my campaign. I will not forget your support and will always be grateful. My campaign committee will remain established should the need arise in the future. Fifty-six percent of the county’s registered voters are unenrolled/independent. This means that Ninety-one percent of registered voters in Berkshire County can choose to vote in the September Democratic primary. I believe in democracy, and I am hopeful that those voters will vote for the change we need. Right now, it is time to restore dignity, skill, integrity, and passion to the position of District Attorney. It is time to elect someone who isn’t beholden to a particular political group that tries to jam a national model down on our unique county. It is time to unite and vote for Tim Shugrue as the next District Attorney of Berkshire County.
THE SULLIVAN COMMITTEE 85 EAST STREET, SUITE 7 PITTSFIELD, MA 01201 413-344-5600 INFO@SULLIVANFORDA.COM
———- ooo ———-

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY MAY 2, 2022) — Pittsfield attorney Tim Shugrue formally began his campaign Friday to oust Berkshire County district attorney Andrea Harrington. Both are Democrats and will face each other in a September preliminary election, assuming Harrington seeks re-election. She has yet to formally declare her intentions.

Shugrue tore into Harrington without mentioning her name, a tactic commonly used in high-stakes elections, particularly when there’s animus involved. THE PLANET has covered countless elections, and our strictly-anecdotal evidence suggests when a candidate doesn’t mention a rival, they intend it as a snub. The thinking is you don’t want to give the other side any mention, not just on the theory that all publicity is good publicity but also to send a message. Translated: “You’re not serious enough for me to use your name.” He called Harrington’s term in office as “an awful experiment.”

———- ooo ———-

Here are some highlights of Shugrue’s declaration (from Tammy Daniels of iBerkshires):

* “We need to have experience, integrity, and justice for everyone. We need to get law enforcement. And we need to go after the criminals that are destroying our community and destroying our towns.”
* “It’s led us to a bad situation that’s required me to enter this race. After having 36 years of experience, both as prosecution and as defense, and being a businessman in Pittsfield, and being a homeowner in Pittsfield, to see what we’ve seen on our streets, they’re no longer safe. None of us feel that we can go anywhere and feel like we’re protected. And worse than that is how many police officers tell me that they bring charges they get dropped after their thorough and hard investigations … they have cases dismissed and thrown out without them even knowing about it.”
I want you guys to know that if I’m in that office, I’m going to be prosecuting crimes [,] and I’ll been making sure that crimes are being handled correctly by trained individuals. I’m not afraid to try a case. I’d rather try a case and lose it than dismiss it. I’ll tell you that right now. We have criminals that are taking over our streets and crimes that are not being prosecuted. We’ve got law enforcement that don’t feel they’re being heard or that their cases are being properly handled.
“When I’m doing my job as a prosecutor, my job is to get the high bail and convince a judge, by doing my job, to say this is why this person should be held, That’s what the judge is there for. But to turn around and say I’m not going to ask for bail is, I think[,] is disrespectful. I want to make sure that my message is loud and clear. You have an illegal gun, you’re going to jail. You’re not getting three years probation so you can kill somebody three months later. That’s not happening in my administration, we will make sure that we’re going to tackle the gun problem.”
I think we will attract people that want to come and learn, I think will attract people that want to get trained and that will attract people that want to try cases and not be afraid to try cases because they don’t know what they’re doing. I am not a politician. I’m a lawyer. And I want to be your lawyer. I want to be the lawyer for Berkshire County.”

———- ooo ———-

According to THE PLANET‘s spies at the event, scuttlebutt during the small talk before and after Shugrue took the podium had it that Harrington hasn’t yet announced her re-election because she has decided not to re-up.

Such speculation, though premature and absent a solid foundation, is to be expected in a campaign of this sort. We could be wrong, but THE PLANET thinks Harrington will run. Having won once, and hearing unvarying encouragement from her inner circle, she has little reason to believe she can’t do it again. In fact, based on word from Those Who Know, Andrea’s running, and this is as it should be.

The winner of the Democratic prelim will face independent Bob Sullivan in November.

The problem I have with all of the critics of Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington’s brief tenure (3 years, 4 months, 1 day) in elected office is that prior to 2019, Pittsfield, as well as North Adams, was/were still in the top 10 cities by population for Violent Crime in Massachusetts, according to their annual reports. I concede the following: It is a fact that violent crime has increased in Pittsfield and North Adams since 2019, it is fact that D.A. Andrea Harrington unprofessionally engages in immature personal attacks against both court officials and her legal opponents and clients, it is a fact that she changed the methods and legal philosophy of prosecuting crime, it is a fact that she is a progressive politician, but it also a fact that she has been subjected to immature personal attacks – that often lack context – from day one. I also wish to say that there are dangerous downtown-area neighborhoods most people avoid, especially after hours, for their personal safety due to violent crime in every distressed city, including in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Lastly, I have spent decades of my 46-year-old – turning 47 this Summer of 2022 – life hearing Pittsfield politicians (and Wanna-Be’s) promising to take on violent crime, but the results always get worse and worse as the years pass by.

Shugrue has 10 times more knowledge, skill, and ability than Sullivan, and 100 times more than Hardly Harrington. And way more experience than both of them put together, should be a cake walk but because Hardly is a woke female, she’ll get tons of votes despite her dipshittedness. So Shugrue better come out swinging and not let up.

People who are not egotistically driven to run for an office that they are not remotely qualified to hold may learn from their mistakes. Harrington has made the same mistakes over and over. How do you explain her insisting on trying cases when she’s a lousy lawyer who can’t win a single case? She’s not running. She’s trying to get a job with Rollins.

Markus Aurelius

I would be shocked if Road Rage Rollins offered her any position. DA Wrong Way is a political liability to RR Rollins.

The DA of Berkshire County lost a simple gun case (LaQuan Johnson) that much junior attorneys would cut their teeth on.

The state trooper found the gun in plain sight. The trooper also found drugs and the vehicle was parked in a closed business, which had made prior complaints to the police about B/E’s. An absolute slam dunk guilty case…..so we thought?

A few weeks after the not guilty verdict, LaQuan, a POC for Helen “Handgun” Moon, returned the favor to DA WW by shooting and killing a guy.

And for the JM’s and TSC’s of the Planet, let me be the first to tell you two, no matter how much malt liquor LaQuan dumped under the cars seats, firearms don’t grow, nor do they magically appear. And I’m sure the trooper didn’t “frame” LaQuan. His track record tells me he is a dangerous individual that belongs behind bars for a very long time.

You forgot the part where Johnson got his previous homicide case dismissed because the DA dragged her feet so long the witnesses disappeared. He would have been locked up in 2019 if the DA had not been so incompetent. She should have resigned then rather than be “disheartened” and allow to have what happened followed. Lack of leadership and incompetence caused this.

The Minister of Dipshittedness.
One of the useful things about this blog is that it”s a catalogue of 3+ years of dipshittedness almost every single day on the awful experiement. For today’s example see tweet from the Minister.

DA Andrea Harrington  @harringtonforda
22h
A huge step forward for Berkshire County. Leaders are coming together to replace the war on drugs with compassion.

Translation: Get votes by not going after drug dealers who are the economic engine of their communities. Meanwhile our communities of decent folks have experienced more drug overdoses than any other Mass. county. This failed experiment rests on the head of the Minister. Her refusal to enforce laws against drug trafficking, shop lifting, theft, while surrendering the war on drugs has compounded the worst health and public safety crisis in our history. Voters were duped by the Minister. Let’s hope they are the woke ones this time around.

The spread of all of these George Soros backed District Attorneys across the country has been an “Awful Experiment.” Crime has increased in every area that these far left District Attorneys have been elected. Now far left District Attorneys in Albany, New York and in the State of Georgia are on another witch hunt against Donald Trump using illegal recordings of GOP politicians and leaking all over the place that they have huge evidence against Trump regarding January 6th. Also going after Trump in New York for phony charges since Trump is the most investigated person in history and they have found nothing. All of what they are doing is illegal, but that hasn’t stopped these far left Soros backed District Attorneys from their political witch hunt.

The progressive DA’s enjoy this. It’s their way of “evening the score” with the police for all the “racially biased policing,” they did.

No stats to back this claim up. But make no mistakes, progressive DA’s are no friend to the police or the law abiding public as a whole. It’s all about themselves and their political posturing.

Do not forget that court reform is about using drug laws to put minorities in prison. Alternate punishments make sense with many of those drug crimes.Hell,we can’t get the ex President to even acknowledge that he is supposed to be equal under the law.We have a court system that needs change…..Race is ingrained in everything and for decades whites never had to deal with this issue. Harrington had the guts to try and messed up but she tried.Because she is not your cup of tea does not mean the next white man can ignore the system needs to change……Let’s get the x prez into a courtroom to show hes not above the law…lol he will never answer for his crimes .
On 6/9/2022 there will be public hearings on the Trump insurection……I wonder if the Supreme Court Justices wife will be above the law…..Harrington win or lose should be commended for her intelligence to see a problem and TRY to do something. She was in the arena.Next white DA needs to also do justice differently.

Black on black violence is even worse now than ever.

And for once I’ll agree with you. You’re right, the next white DA needs to “do justice differently.” He needs to enforce the laws that are on the books and not pick and choose because it fits a political narrative. Gun crimes, shoplifting, and drugs offenses, need to be prosecuted. I don’t give a rat’s a$$ if you’re white, purple, green, or black, you break the law and get caught, you face the consequences. End of story.

Enough with the “victim mentality” and the “victimization” of criminals.

I absolutely love the progressive statement about shoplifting, “it’s not a crime if a person is stealing to feed their family.”

If you go through all of PPD’s shoplifting reports prior to DA Wrong Way and try and find one example of a person caught shoplifting in Pittsfield, to “field their family,” I’m willing to bet you’ll find none. It’s such a crock of sheet.

The shoplifters are looking to feed their drug habits, not their families.

I’ll gladly tell you I’ll give you a thumbs down for anything a democRAT proposes.

Inflation, gas, supply chain, Ukraine NEVER asks for medical supplies/medicine during a war-only cash and weapons, Afghanistan debacle, Iran/North Korea building nuclear arsenal, southern border crisis, Ministry of truth who is known to pass off “misinformation” about Trump and Russian hoax, VP is an absolute disgrace, Build Back Bankrupt, did I leave anything out?

I’ll give you one chance to change my mind, name one thing Joe Xiden has done to make America better for the working class citizens? No Putin did this, Trump did that, 1/6/21, etc, just what Xiden’s administration has done to better the taxpayer.

And I’ll even add a few of the democRAT highlights locally: highest drug OD rate in state per capita, NON, Ricky’s Rumpus, Bird Scooters, destroying Springside Park to allow a$$hole mountain bikers a place to bike (for the kids too, of course), Waterpark for kids non operable 1+ year and counting, garbage decorating the streets, potholes galore, HS varsity baseball team doesn’t have a home field, violent crimes and shootings at all time highs, gang activity/drug dealing/prostitution in the open, Lazy Linda, Eddie Munster-Kerwood, the two Pete’s, Tricia Farley-Country Buffet (D), Helen “Handgun” Moon, DA Wrong Way, failing school system bleeding taxpayers dry, bleachers at Wahconah Park not useable, $700,000 given to a non-business to “help create” black owned businesses (the first black owned business to open also happens to be the beneficiary of that taxpayer funded gift), just to name a few reasons why I thumb down any democRAT idea or suggestion these days.

Convince me otherwise.

My bad. Trump invited PUTIN into the white house and allowed his security people to photograph top secret documents. Then Trump brought even more to Mara Largo where Putins people copied them and sent them back to Moscow. You know this is true. Tucker Carlson would not lie about that, nor would Hannity.

Remind me again how many wars occurred under Trump? And why does Ukraine only ask for money and weapons? Their healthcare system is that robust in Ukraine that they do not need medicine, medical supplies, or added medical personnel, to assist during war? Just billions of dollars.

If history has taught us anything, it’s to keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Trump kept North Korea, Russia, China, and Iran, in check during his presidency. Can you say the same about Xiden?

Do you recall when Sotero was in office the Russian migs were buzzing our naval war ships?

Famed Austrian economist F. A. Hayek said it best: “There is all the difference in the world between treating people equally and attempting to make them equal.” Liberals have never seen wealth — except for their own — that they haven’t tried to redistribute to those of lesser means, generally Democrat voters. That brings us to Irish playwright and political activist George Bernard Shaw, who correctly observed: “A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.”

Due to the chaotic scooter rollout Tyer is holding a press conference this morning at 10am. One more damage control effort.
The Bird guy is saying that the dead scooters are the result of overwhelming success and popularity. What he is NOT saying is that the overwhelming use of them is by tweeners fascinated by a new toy and who have actually been creating chaos on North street mixing with cars and buses. Will the mayor explain how the kids got ready access if their is an 18 year age limit? Will she discuss that having these lying all around North street looks trashy? Will she explain why the DPW is helping out? Tune in at 10am somewhere.

I thought the same as Plummet. Not only are they supposed to be 18, how are they paying? Are parents just giving kids their Debit and Credit Cards? I’m glad kids have something fun to do but it does raise questions and concerns.

Wynn has legal concerns about body cams, yeah his department is going to get sued into oblivion when their corruption is recorded.

There’s no two party consent issues with police cams in MA. Departments have them, the entire State Police is outfitted with them, they don’t seem to have a problem. The two party consent is about secret audio recordings in places where you’d expect privacy, not in public or when the police are called. Wynn is as stupid as he is corrupt.

The incompetent Eagle reporter failed on the follow up, if Wynn is so concerned about the legal issues what’s he doing on follow up?
Get a legal opinion. Do your job.

Wynn is afraid cameras will expose how corrupt, under trained and unprofessional his department is. There’s a reason there’s a big drug problem in Pittsfield and it’s not just the DA, it’s the corrupt cops on the payroll of dealers. Some of the cops in Berkshire county are even dealers themselves. Those steroids get sold and trafficked somehow.
The State Troopers get them, cops tip off people before raids.

Cops lying about suspects, cops stalking girlfriends and sleeping on the job, cops dealing steroids, cops beating up little old ladies, cops leaving their guns around, cops sleeping around, cops stealing from dealers and crime scenes, cops dealing drugs, cops sleeping on the job and lying about overtime.

If Wynn was so forward thinking and cared about policing, he’d be the first department with bodycams.

Southwick – $26,189.70
Easthampton – $40,000.00

I woulld think the expense and invasion of personal privacy would be enough for the police unions to be against body cams. There has to be another way to subdue a mentally challenged enraged person physically, shot spotter and tasers don’t work as it is. Killing is the other option? Stop throwing money at it and figure out another way. If a person has another by the throat then subdue at any cost.

Responsible sexual practices from men are also called for to avoid way too many abortions in this country. It has gone from abortions allowed up to 3 months to abortions being allowed when the baby is already born. This is inhumane. This is the conversation we need to be having in this country and not leaving it up to a group of men and women in robes to decide our conscience for us.

Absolutely. Now Dan I need to say this before the left wing crazies go wild. Abortion of course is the answer in case of rape, incest or life of the mother, nobody is arguing that. The real reason people are for mass abortions is, you nailed it, the lack of personal responsibility. On both sides. Should I not wear a condom, or even better, should I not haphazzardly (spelling) spread my legs. Also, big pharma wont like this, if not spreading your legs catches on. Less need for birth control.

Men have been knocking up women since the beginning of time. Abstinence is unreasonable. Humans are sexual beings. Decades ago, I read a book about backroom abortions, and the very thought of denying a woman the right to safely abort a fetus is unacceptable. Infanticide was common in every society. In some societies the gender of the child was a death sentence, but any excuse was acceptable. Desperate women are going to do horrible things to themselves and their unborn babies. There are safe reliable birth control options to prevent unwanted pregnancies. These are not the dark ages, those days before birth control. But I’m not surprised that irresponsible women have pushed the limits of reasonability to insanity. And infanticide is back in vogue.

Downside is that thousands of these unwanted babies will grow up uncared for or poorly cared for. And they will become the homeless and the prostitutes and the gang banging street thugs the republicans hate so much. So, in a way, they are shitting in their own bed by preventing abortions.

The answer to unwanted babies isn’t to murder them. Work on finding good homes for unwanted babies. Work on promoting respect and love for unwanted babies and responsible sexual practices so that women aren’t getting pregnant will all of these babies that they supposedly don’t want. Men also need to step up with responsible sexual practices. We need to show some humanity since a society should be judged by the concern shown to the unborn and in some cases, babies already born.

DA’s office is finding discrepancies between the reports as filed by officers, time logs, call logs to 911, and dispatch notes and reports.

Two officers claimed they did not know it was a mental health crisis and thought it was an armed person attacking his girlfriend. Dispatch logs tell a very different story.

If that kids family wants a less stylized version of the truth, they should get the DoJ civil rights unit involved.
The DA will come out with a report about miscommunication, a failure to properly contain subject and the area, lack of resources, and needed policy changes. Nothing will rise to criminal conduct.

Recommendations for more training, finding of crisis specialists 24/7, policy changes.

I lot of PlanetValenti blog posters are against Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington. She has only been in office since the beginning of the year 2019, which is a little over 3 years & 4 months now. Prior to 2019, Pittsfield & North Adams were always in the top 10 cities by population in Massachusetts for Violent Crime. Since the beginning of 2019, the same unfortunate data still applies. Moreover, I am 46 years old going on 47 this Summer of 2022, and I have heard over many years/decades countless political candidates in and around Pittsfield promise to reduce violent crime in Berkshire County, but the problems keep getting worse and worse as the years go by. Given these set of FACTS, I believe that D.A. Andrea Harrington’s critics are only proverbially shitting on her by blaming her for all that is wrong in the criminal justice system. Also, what is the real backstory about why Robert Sullivan dropped out of the race for Berkshire D.A. today? My view is that it always the bully who points his finger at their victim(s) who has the most to hide. What is Attorney Timothy Shugrue’s real track record as a prosecutor? If he is as great as he says he is, then please tell the people about your successes and failures in the criminal justice system. Lastly, why is O.K. for so many people to use personal attacks against Andrea Harrington, but when she does it, the Dirty Bird (Berkshire Eagle), PlanetValenti, court officials, and so on all go nuts about it. I see it as a double standard!

Michael Wynn’s excuse against body cameras for cops sounds a lot like his excuse against drug screening of cops. I especially like the part when wynn lies about how cops aren’t against getting caught violating the civil rights of citizens on their own police department issued body cameras. It’s like Cops aren’t against random drug screening. It’s just that cops aren’t required to be randomly drug screened. This way none of them will get caught with illicit drugs in their systems, as long as they’re not required to be randomly drug screened. As for cops exploiting embarrassing encounters with citizens, you just know cops are going to share those embarrassing encounters with like-minded deviants, including the deviant family members of cops. And when, not if, body cameras on cops capture those embarrassing civil rights violations, e.g., illegal home invasions, terrorizing innocent babies and children, illegally ransacking and vandalizing the homes of innocent citizens, handcuffing and violating innocent citizens, brutalizing and suffocating innocent citizens and even murdering innocent citizens, all of its going into wynn’s mysterious magic disappearing cabinet. It’s not that Wynn has any objections to violating the civil rights or the privacy of innocent citizens, he just doesn’t want any of it caught on police issued body cameras. wynn is of the belief that police officer fabricated narratives are sufficient malicious evidence against the falsely accused innocent. And wynn’s not going to let evidence of the truth fuck with that.

On the issue of boorish cops exposing people to humiliation and ridicule by leaking embarrassing images, decades ago a Pittsfield man hanged himself in his apartment in the middle of a very hot summer, and he wasn’t found for some time. I don’t remember the exact timeframe, but at least one PPD cop took photos of the corpse, maggots and all, and wanted to show them, the offer was declined. But I heard that the cop did show the photos to several people. Shame on all of them. So, count on it, cops are going leak embarrassing images of others, just not of themselves.

Oh hey ya’ll been on a little Vacay from the Planet However I’m baccccck! So a little pat on the back boys and girls and Dan. I told you the frat boy would be out by the end of May. What an absolute disgrace! Calling the DA late night for debates half cocked riding around in his truck parked in front of the Court House with the Sully swag on it not to mention the most pathetic press conference announcement I have ever seen.

My next prediction is Timmy ain’t gonna make it until September. Dude the Bloody Mary’s and doughnuts holy moly got you ballooned up bigger than the girl on Willy Wonka. Timmy ain’t got the wheels to be campaigning at every chicken Bbq in Berkshire County every Sunday. It will be simpily to Much and with the Mazzeos backing him it’s over.

Anyone who is thinking of relishing in the Supreme Court decision to overturn RVW, just remember the fate of little baby Kristoff.

Unwanted pregnancies turn into unwanted children sucked into the system.

Dope fiends without access to abortions means a whole lot more babies born addicted and deformed.

Prostitutes without access to abortions means a whole lot of back room abortions and abandoned infants.

Rape victims without access to abortions will probably just want to kill themselves and the baby.

Abortion is not cut and dry and not simply about personal responsibility. There are real valid reasons why women should NOT continue with pregnancies.
