DIE OFFICE WILL PERPETUATE THE SOCIAL ILLS IT SEEKS TO CORRECT … CITY OFFICE IS A WASTE OF TAXPAYER MONEY

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION MARCH 10-2, 2023) — Dei, Latin for “God.”

THE PLANET, therefore, refers to Pittsfield’s DIE office, not its DEI office. You know, the acronym stands for Diversity (actually, Exclusivity), Inclusion (Exclusion), and Equity (Injustice). This takes care of two things at once:

  1. It prevents us from taking God’s name in vain.
  2. It refers to a meaning  more fitting for this deathly unnecessary office.

The presence of a fully staffed (well, sort of … it has a head-count of warm bodies), fully functioning (well, sort of … it serves its mistress well) HR office, headed by the fired grocery bagger Michael Taylor, makes the services of a DIE office redundant. The other, even bigger problem with the city’s DIE office lies in this type of “sensitivity brainwashing.” Social engineering initiatives of DIE’s sort boomerang, aggravating the issues they ostensibly are supposed to remedy.

The social inside track already exists via countless such initiatives, for example, affirmative action. As a result, more and more cities, colleges, institutions, and companies are ditching the DIE approach, which essentially is to police speech, contain freedom, and enforce (punish) through cancellation anyone who dares call DIE what it is — racist, sexist, agist, and whatever other “list” is currently Flavor of the [pick one] Day, Month, Year, Decade, Generation.

Yes, small rays of hope have been emerging to see that DIE dies — but not in Pittsfield, of course.

The fix is in via Mayor Flat to our Right Honorable Good Friends on the 8-3 city council to

  • Create a DIE Ambassador Program. Purpose: “to create a welcoming and inclusive work environment for all City departments and employees.” The scheme pays the ambassadors, all city employees, $200 a month, $2400 a year on top of salary. They will hand-appointed by Mayor Flat. No muck there, eh?

———- ooo ———-

Official city language tells us that “[t]he purpose of a [DIE] Ambassador is to assist the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in creating a welcoming and inclusive work environment for City departments. ‘Ambassadors’ are city employees who will serve as a resource for their colleagues and department while also serving as a community builder for peers with underrepresented and historically excluded identities. Ambassadors will help identify harmful structures and increase knowledge and awareness about inclusive leadership and communication.”

Do these words give you a chill, especially the part where these thought police “will help identify harmful structures?” What exactly does that mean?

And how dismal that one Alisa Costa says she’s running for lame-duck Kevin Sherman’s Ward 3 seat. From the Berkshire Eagle announcement:

“I can’t wait to get started doing what I’m most passionate about: creating a conversation between government and people,” Costa said in the statement. “I think that’s when we’re at our best.”

In 2021, Costa left Berkshire Bridges to start a private consulting firm called Engaged Communities Consulting. In a press release, Costa said her firm works mainly on community engagement and diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

Leaves one with a lump in the throat.

Is there a doctor in the house? Anyone know the Heimlich maneuver? This is precisely the type of candidate Pittsfield does NOT need, and the preservation of the current Big Government city council and corner office will lead to the city’s destruction.

———- ooo ———-

Here’s what the city’s website says about the DIE office:

The City of Pittsfield recognizes its position of power and privilege and the influence of its actions on the community. The City is committed to recognizing, valuing, and responding to the needs of a wide range of individuals who look to us for assistance, such as language, sexual orientation, race, class, gender, ability, etc. In order to provide effective service, every City employee must understand how to respectfully interact with every community member.

By constantly learning about our community, evaluating our work, and adapting our approach to ensure that we continue to deliver quality services, we will create an inclusive and safe community where all people are empowered to live, work, and play—where individuals are respected and valued for their unique contributions.

Welcome to the Department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Our office, established in 2021, reflects the City of Pittsfield’s core values and ongoing commitment to equity and inclusion. We foster a welcoming community by encouraging respectful dialogue among all city employees and those with our community partners. Our work includes advocacy for human and civil rights by eradicating barriers that perpetuate inequality and injustice. Additionally, through our initiatives, we promote community awareness, understanding, and the celebration of cultural differences.

Achieving these objectives with an equity lens requires leadership, collaboration, time, resources, and a commitment to unlearning biases and creating space to learn from others who are different. We help city departments build and support an environment that continually reflects the diversity of the people the city serves.

In conjunction with the Office of Human Resources, we prioritize recruitment of marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds through intentional planning and retention in city departments. The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will also deepen community engagement to further strengthen and build new relationships throughout the city.

We are truly excited to be a part of this amazing and meaningful journey that will serve, benefit, and uplift the City of Pittsfield.

To learn more about diversity, equity, and inclusion, we’ve provided a host of information and resources for your reference. Please feel free to contact our office if you need additional assistance.

———- ooo ———

THE PLANET will meet with anyone — Obasohan, Costa, anyone — who might want to explain why we are wrong.

THE PLANET knows as all people of good heart know that the root of all human “isms” lies within the human heart.

Good people also know the only solution: An inner conversion of that heart toward LOVE. There is no other way.

The “cure” lies within the power of each of us but out of reach of social engineering. The creation of artificial substitutes in governmental institutions to police our inner personal mysteries and force feed a proscribed “inclusive” agenda worsens a sickness that has plagued humankind since Moonwatcher threw that bone into the sky.

LOVE IS THE ONLY ANSWER.

Have a great weekend, everybody.

I come from the school of Human Rights. I believe that we are all equal and free to live, work and play in a tolerant society. I also know all about Human Nature and Human Behavior – especially GREED. When it comes to the government, the only things that matter are MONEY, POWER, Career Politicians, and the agenda-driven news media outlets. Most career politicians look at me like they are annoyed with me for always communicating with them, writing endless political emails, blogging about them, and so on. I feel that if I was a “PAC Man” who filled the Career Politicians’ campaign coffers with lots of MONEY, then they would look at me like I mattered to them. I believe that it doesn’t matter if you are black, white, green or orange, if you are a man, woman, or transgendered, if you are rich, middle-class or poor, and so on, to the Financial, Corporate and Ruling Elites who run the system of big government and big business, but rather, it only matters if you have MONEY, POWER, and you are willing to kiss the dirty behinds of the Career Politicians who do mostly DISSERVICES to the Have-Nots. To illustrate, I – Jon Melle – instead of writing and blogging about politics and career politicians, would (disingenuously) thank them for using our limited tax dollars to run TV ads marketing the 50-year-old Massachusetts State Lottery’s new $50 dollar scratch ticket, despite the fact that I understand that it is nothing more than a (voluntary) regressive taxation scheme to screw me and all of the Have-Nots like me over to further enrich the Financial, Corporate and Ruling elites at the public trough. Lastly, I am sick and tired of watching the $50 scratch ticket TV commercial! It is a SCAM!

How Orwellian of you to publish the city descriptions and show how the words they use are actually defined by the government in the opposite way webster dictionary defines them. I will believe the DIE office will fulfill their mission of eradicating inequalities and injustice when they throw out the Affirmative Actions or follow it. Only 5% of Pittsfield’s population are described by the government as being black, so what is the percentage of workers in the work force? Can the government be transparent? How many white candidates have been looked over for jobs even if they had a better resume/work history then other ethnic applicants??? Will the government ever tell the people the truth??

Pittsfield has a history of hiring relatives and friends for all jobs so all of this diversity propaganda is just another scheme to put people into jobs who are not qualified, but meet certain criteria like gender and race.

My guess is that there could be as many as five thousand people living in Pittsfield that are off record. Does this seem high? Or low?

I agree with Dan’s comments. DIE offices are redundant – federal guidelines prohibit discrimination in hiring. It is a waste of taxpayer money.

Someone please tell me WHY Springside House HAS to be fixed up? What is the “planned purpose” of this dilapidated structure that the city wants to plow $3.5 million into it? The Eagle and iBerkshires both reported that there is a possible tenant. Who? And for what purpose? Why isn’t that being discussed? What is the plan?

Has absolutely NOTHING to do with giving lucrative contracts to friendly contractors so we need not worry about that such stuff going on. Too much oversight in Pittsfield for that to happen. Our city council deeply vets all such expenditures and all contracts go out to bid so as to be fair and balanced.

The Rainy Day

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;

It rains, and the wind is never weary;

The vine still clings to the moldering wall,

But at every gust the dead leaves fall,

And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold, and dark and dready;

It rains, and the wind is never weary;

My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past,

But the hopes of youth fall think in the blast,

And the days are dark and dreary

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;

Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;

Thy fate is the common fate of all,

Into each life some rain must fall,

Some days must be dark and dreary.

I know when I’m spouting Longfellow, and I know shit when I see. I don’t know about you, but I don’t deserve to be insulted or assaulted by corrupt allegedly elected shit that calls itself Pittsfield’s mayor/city council. That’s the vulgarity! Only an idiot would condone the unrelenting crap we get from these corrupt lowbred lowlife city officials.

I’ve never been one to see life through rose-coloured glasses. But rather I see life/things as they actually are. I’ve never considered my way of seeing life, truth, justice, everyday mundane things, apple pie and America as it used to be, before it became ameriKa, as the wrong way of seeing the world and everything in it. I see life as it really is. I don’t sugarcoat it and I reject anyone’s else attempt to sugarcoat it for me. I proud to say I was an anarchist before I even knew what an anarchist was. I wouldn’t have it any other way. The world needs more anarchists, not more WOKE PLANUTS FROM HELL.

If you’ve noticed, the PLANUT FROM HELL doth protest too much too much to my every comment. PLANUT FROM HELL manifest his compulsive obsessive disorder with his need to critique my every comment. So, I’m not going to respond to any attacks from the PLANUT FROM HELL. I’m not even poking him with sticks and stones, or rattling his cage, and yet my every comment elicits from him an unnatural hard-on for me. And that’s funny!

Dan, please don’t alter my spelling. In the case of the PLANUT FROM HELL, it’s spelled correctly.

“The men the American people admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest most violently are those who try to tell them the truth.”

“The majority of men prefer delusion to truth. It soothes. It is easy to grasp. Above all, it fits more snugly than the truth into a universe of false appearances – of complex and irrational phenomena, defectively grasped. But though an idea that is true is thus not likely to prevail, an idea that is attacked enjoys a great advantage. The evidence behind it is now supported by sympathy, the sporting instinct, sentimentality – and sentimentality is as powerful as an army with banners. One never hears of a martyr in history whose notions are seriously disputed today. The forgotten ideas are those of the men who put them forward soberly and quietly, hoping fatuously that they would conquer by the force of their truth; these are the ideas that we now struggle to rediscover.” – H.L. Everything can be rainbows and unicorns in Pittsfield sounds like a utopia. However there are no good paying jobs, empty storefronts, drugs crime and high taxes.

I really want to hear a Mayoral candidate sell the idea that this tailspin will end. forget the bike lanes and Pot holes this is just a diversion from the bigger problems that will continue to plague this city.

Plus their is no housing for lower income folk. Where are all the workers supposed to live? And just what the hell is this term “gentrification” everyone is talking about in Pittsfield? Huh? What is that? Does Pete know? Is the mayor really going to bring in affordable housing like she said she was? I dunno what she meant by that do you? Did it happen and I just missed it? And is her definition of “affordable” different than the janitor that works at the hospital?

Dan, there is a huge segment of the population that does not make a lot of money but does make too much for section eight assistance. These are the people who cannot afford to live in Pittsfield but Pittsfield’s workforce desperately needs them. Stockbridge by the way, has the same problem.

Unfortunately not going to happen. To quote Rick Pitno Pete Arlos, Terry Kinnas , Chuck Vincelett are not going to be walking through that door. Pittsfield politics are set for the same as its always was. There will be no change. Time for a town government, with a town manager. Then maybe we will have a say in a new school or a new police station. Dalton and Lanesborough voters both got to decide.

Can we have a city manager without a mayor? Who would hire him or her ?. would city residents get the chance to vote in a city manager? I think the city should hire a city manager..That would correct the gob sig form of government

It’ll be hired by the gobsig council and the manager would be some recycled creature from some other town he mucked up. It’s the situation with the Public School Superintendent – hired by the School Committee from a preselected pool of local interersts. Never a new face is interviewed it’s a always a recycled ‘Super On Discount”. That was Kinnas’ ongoing dispute with the Committee.

Do you want to give City Council the power to essentially choose your Mayor?

The Silicon Valley Bank collapse is not good news for this country. Silicon Valley Bank has six locations in Massachusetts. With our federal government spending and printing money like there’s no tomorrow, we will never get rid of inflation. Biden’s new plan to increase government spending even more is a disgrace. Also too many people have left the labor market and are living off the government which makes it appear that the labor market is strong because there aren’t enough people to fill job openings, but it’s all smoke and mirrors.

If you think about it, all politicians pretty much have to be equivocal and two-faced, because talking out of both sides of their mouths is their stock-in-trade. Politicians have to appeal to multiple constituencies or they don’t get elected. So being a two-faced hypocrite is almost a requirement of the job.

Is it really job creation or just the fact that so many people are not working which is keeping the job numbers high, but unemployment numbers are at record levels. It’s all an illusion by Biden and his globalists to trick people into thinking the economy is great, but it’s not true. With so many jobs available, unemployment should be extremely low, but that’s not the case because so many are refusing to work and want to live off of big daddy government.
