VOTERS SPEAK … WITH LARYNGITIS; CANDIDATES NOW ON TO NOVEMBER WITH NO MANDATE

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY SEPT. 20, 2023) — The voters have spoken.

Unfortunately, they had a bad case of laryngitis, or, as the late, great Arthur used to call it, “larenjowie.”

OVerall, turnout was abysmal: 16% for mayor, the only citywide office on the ballot; as predicted Peter Marchetti with 2,298 votes and John Krol, 1807, move ahead. Karen Kalinowsky finished a distant last with 738. Ward 2 saw 12%, Brittany Bandini 166 and Alex Blumin 150 go to November, with Sincere Williams tossed at 122. In Ward 7 at 15% it will be Rhonda Serre 325 and incumbent Tony Maffuccio 194 surviving, Jon Morey bleeding at 58.

When only 15% of the electorate turns out, not only do candidates not have a mandate, but We The People also fail in their chance to affect real change. It leaves everyone in a nebulous DMZ of office holders left to do as they wish and citizens frustrated that they have no voice.

DAN VALENTI BOOKS NOW AVAILABLE ON AMAZON.COM and EBAY. MAKE GREAT GIFTS!

———————————————————

Discounting unopposed offices, only three positions were at stake: Ward 2, Ward 7, at-large, and mayor. Hardly the stuff to energize the polls or stuff the ballot boxes, both showing electoral anorexia.

The big news is the showing of Ukraine’s favorite son and THE PLANET endorsee Alex Blumin. Blumin’s message of fiscal conservatism and bureaucratic accountability hit the right note. The alliteratively named Brittany Bandini moves on in Two as well. Put out like a sputtering fire was the Incredible Tattooed Lady, Soncere Williams. Guess voters didn’t want to turn the council dais into more of a freak show than it already is. In Ward 7, incumbent Tony Maffuccio and Rhonda Serre advance to November.

In the mayoral prelim, as THE PLANET predicted three seconds after she announced, Kalinowsky can head back to the holler and  dueling banjos as the favorites move ahead. Who’s not looking forward to a November corner-office showdown between Marchetti and former Krol?

As always, THE PLANET solicits your views and interpretations.

I can’t say I’m looking forward to this November showdown between Krol and Marchetti. I don’t have that much excitement about either candidate, but I do hope Krol wins over Marchetti because Marchetti is even further left than Krol in my opinion. I hope more Pittsfield voters actually bother to show up in November to show they have some concern for the future of their city.

The best thing I think is to just vote for someone (sort of) new, you can always replace them in four years. Marchetti has been in charge while the homeless, panhandlers and drug dealers have been allowed to make North Street way worse than it’s ever been. And his recent interview with WAMC was a real gobbledygook of circuitous political talk that seemed to contradict itself. Neither one inspires, but it’s very visible how poorly the current “leaders” are doing

Gavel Man’s after party had 7 fellow councilors, current mayor and Tricia. Serre from ward 7 at the party also which should tell you all you need to know about what to expect from her if elected. Eagle had picture of Gavel Man with Coach Shirley in it. Status Quo. Gavel Man wears the same cologne as mayor Tyer so don’t expect much difference from him if elected.

The gobsigs have spoken. A gobsig backed candidate in ward 2 and ward 7 were the high vote getters in tonight’s preliminary election
The voters who didn’t show up tonight were the 25000 registered non voters who have a perfect record of never showing up for any election. If these miscreants were to show up the results of pittsfields elections would look significantly different than these gobsig heavy results. How can we change things here in pittsfield? Maybe if we identified the registered non voters, this would make for a more balanced vote, leveling the playing field of these despised gobsigs. This is a drastic undertaking but drastic circumstances require drastic solutions.
Every small city in America is saddled with these gobsig backed candidates and to date it is the special interest groups who always win out in city elections. Unless we can figure out how to change this unfortunate situation. The gob backed candidates will be elected time after time. Case in point look at Marchetti. A 16 year failed politician who is now poised to be our mayor. In the private sector he would be canned for lack of fiduciary responsibility but because he is a gobsig backed buffoon he shall rise to the city’s top position and show no regret for his 16 years of failed leadership on the city council. We deserve better. In the generL election give your vote to a write in candidate as opposed to Marchetti or krol. We couldn’t do worse than these two failed political hacks. Give the gobsigs a run for their money. I despise gobsigs and gobsig backed candidates. They don’t win elections they buy the elections. Down with all gobsigs

Disgusted with how you put down Karen Kalinowsky with your dueling banjo reference. All because she wouldn’t interview with you. Notice now they all followed her lead. No more interviews or debates. You may want to stop being disrespectful and just report news. Pittsfield lost a great candidate who worked for the people. It doesn’t matter who we vote for now Krol or Marchetti both are the same

Election clerks reported no issues other than low turnout. The workers at Morningside Community School for 3A joked that they had a rush around noon with three voters.

So many people have just given up hope for change.

Not only that, they obstruct it to try to limit the votes of the ascendant demographic. As a one-state democracy, Israel has the same problem.

Give me examples with links of Republicans “try to limit the votes of the ascendant demographic.”

Otherwise, STFU with your nonsense. Just like your “white power literature in the suburbs” horsesh!t that you’ve YET to back up.

Tell us Prof, are requirements to have legitimate ID to vote racist?

A major study finding that voter ID laws hurt minorities isn’t standing up well under scrutiny – Vox

Have you volunteered yet to help the black community yet Prof?

Or do you only care for the black community from the comfort of your home and your computer keyboard?

I don’t do links – I use words. I also don’t click on anything in this site. Safety reasons.

You can tell me to STFU. But I don’t have to abide by your command. You just don’t want to hear what I have to say.

I have answered your request for white supremacist lit, which you refuse to admit exists. Anyone who samples broader media knows that the GOP is engaged in activities that result in voter suppression. I’m sure you don’t want to admit to yourself that voter suppression exists.

Yes, I have volunteered to help the black community. Yes, I do care for the black community from the comfort of my keyboard.

And yes, you are accurate and supremely articulate in the way you handle local politics, but you are much less articulate in your handling of national politics.

Personally I thank Karen for running. It a takes a great deal of courage to go up against the Pittsfield power structure. Very few decent people want to get involved in it. Dan, I thought of you as a champion of the little guy and her cause was to advocate for the little guy.

In a way I am happy for her to have lost because the people who did not want her to be mayor would have made her life miserable. Hopefully she will kick back and enjoy life without all the bullshit.

Neither of them are anything without that key support and I will be shocked if either one of them stands on his own feet just once. History suggest it ain’t gonna happen.

Only one out of five registered voters actually vote in municipal elections in Pittsfield politics – give or take a few percentage points – because Ward 4 always decides the winners of citywide elections. The city’s other six wards do not really matter in citywide elections. Ward 4 controls the outcome of the mayoral, at-large city councilors, Ward 4 City Councilor, and the six (Level 5) School Committee members. Then there is the issue of campaign dollars. Who will raise the big buck$ between now and the general election? Then there is the issue of social media outreach. Who will be on social media to sell their campaign messages to the voters?

In 2011, Peter Marchetti lost to Dan Bianchi because he did not stand for anything that the voters wanted out of Pittsfield politics. Will he make the same mistake 12 years later in 2023 with John Krol? Peter Marchetti touts his financial management experience and expertise, along with his many years of being involved in community events. John Krol touts that he will be the most accessible mayor ever, and that he will revitalize the city’s distressed economy. Lastly, I always ask the age old question: What ever happened to investing in people who are the community’s most valuable resource?

JM I agree with Sir Chaz, good post.

To try and answer your question about why they don’t invest in people, it’s because it’s not profitable for them to invest in community members.

If they invest in say bike lanes, it has the appearance of being “climate friendly,” will “slow down traffic,” “make it safer,’ and all of the other buzzwords and catch phrases used to truly hide the real meaning of these initiatives or city beautification projects. It’s to line the pockets of those involved in this “project.”

The Ricky Rumpus-Roundabout on Tyler Street is another example. You’ve driven around it; does it look like a $6,000,000 ($6M) project to you?

Tyler Street Infrastructure Plans Include Roundabout, Traffic Improvements / iBerkshires.com – The Berkshires online guide to events, news and Berkshire County community information.

Do you think the GOBSIG’s would gain anything financially by lowering the tax rate for the citizens of Pittsfield with ‘free cash?’

Hope this helps JM.

It’s true.

They should install beds in the waiting room.

I spent five hours there this summer. My wound all but healed by the time they looked it over. A man was freaking out almost kicked out of the room. He waited 7 hours. The few of us there treated his anxiety (“It’s ok! You’re next. THey assure me you are absolutely next in line. We feel your pain, sir.”) while the police officer warily watched making sure no malpractice was happening. Completely unbilled service.

There were only three there that night too. If you need the ER, bring a book, a pillow, a blanket, eye-mask, earplugs, and a sandwich. It’s a 5 hour wait minimum to get past the door, and 2 for a doctor.

Not certain, but I believe that if you are going critical, you won’t be left to bleed out in your seat.

I probably shouldn’t answer that but you’re here, and so am I.

Here’s the thing. By time I got seen, the window for stiches passed. “Wow-sah” you say, but three hour’s the window. So, instead I got a tube of pills and a big bill for $400. I actually had to ask for a bandage which fell off by the time I got home at 4:30am.The wound is still resolving.I’ll probably have my leg amputated at some point. Maybe replaced by a prosthetic that can weed whack too. Whatever…

I now have my own stitching materials and will do it myself next time.A win for CMS-Medicare!

As for the illegals: they are there, everywhere. All they need is your job. Mayor Adams is looking for 100,000 jobs not taken.

It would be helpful if there was just some way to slow down the asshole drivers a bit. I heard about a city in Utah that had a traffic enforcement department. Holy cow…how innovative is that concept? They actually handed out tickets and imposed fines and made some real money doing it, enough in fact to pay for the enforcement while making their little burg safer for everyone.

But Pittsfield focuses on naughty parkers who overstay their allotted time. None of them ever contributed to an accident where someone was killed but by Jesus they sure were taught a lesson. And the city accumulates a nice profit even if no one knows where it ever goes.

Maybe a consultant to explore whether traffic enforcement could work in Pittsfield.

I know from personal experience, which means nothing of course, that I instinctually slow down when I enter foreign towns, Adams, Goshen, anywhere in NY because I know a patroler will materialize immediately. But, we should determine first if that would work here.

BOSTON — MassDevelopment has awarded $2,230,052 in grants to advance the rehabilitation of 22 properties in Gateway Cities across Massachusetts that will have significant economic impacts on commercial corridor revitalization goals.

In Pittsfield, Marie’s North Street Eatery & Gallery, Remedy & Culture LLC, Roots & Dreams and Mustard Seeds Inc, and Methuselah Bar and Lounge received grants.

“For generations, Gateway Cities have been welcoming places to live, start a business, and build community,” said Economic Development Secretary Yvonne Hao, who serves as chair of MassDevelopment’s Board of Directors. “MassDevelopment’s Transformative Development Initiative allows the state to work hand-in-hand with local partners to ensure these cities remain places of opportunity for all and we are proud these TDI Equity Investment grants support that goal.”

These grants represent the second and final tranche of awards from the Fiscal Year 2023 round of MassDevelopment’s Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) Equity Investment program. In May, the agency awarded $714,893 in TDI Equity Investment grants to five properties.

Marie’s North Street Eatery & Gallery will receive $31,000 to renovate the interior of its existing space, which long housed Marie’s European Delights, to offer sit-down dining and affordable grab-and-go options to cater to the city’s downtown lunch crowd.

Remedy & Culture LLC will receive $28,000 to help the company make interior renovations to an 860-square-foot vacant storefront at 90 North St. in the Central Block. The renovated property will feature a wellness retail shop, yoga and meditation classroom, and private treatment room.

Who is the mastermind behind this outfit? This organization bought the Lach’s Lounge building through the “generosity” of an anonymous benefactor donating $225,000 to buy the building.

They received $200,000 in Community Preservation Act funds to rehab their building.

And now they are getting $179,000 to buy King Kone.

Yet the building at 129 Fenn Street remains shuttered and empty, two years after purchase with no sign of any work started.

The apathy of Pittsfield voters lost the race for Karen Kalinowsky. School personnel dominate the elections in this area because so few bother to vote. What is wrong with Pittsfield people that they refuse to vote? Only the presidential elections seem to motivate Pittsfield voters. When it was Biden vs. Trump, Pittsfield voters turned out in droves. Biden was and is their hero and it seems that they believe their favorite far left candidate will win and they need to do nothing in local elections. Or maybe they know that all far left candidates are basically the same so it doesn’t matter who wins since they all march in lockstep.

I’m glad to see Alex Blumin moving on. He and Craig better be ready for a political fight. They will be going against GOBSIG money and the usual shenanigans of Picklesfield’s most dangerous vigilante meeting with Michelle Benjamin at CH on election night to keep an updated tally on voters/voting.

Porkchop Pete White will more than likely ascend to the CC Prez spot no matter the mayoral outcome. It’s as horrible to type as it is to actually say it out loud. PPW doesn’t want to have to face Craig and/or Alex at CC meetings. He wants rubber-stamping cronies like Dina “Climate Change” Guiel-Smith-Xi-Hernandez-Imbooku-Hernandez-Lampiasi in his corner.

Unfortunately, KK will not be moving on. She was going up against the same machine I posted about in my first paragraph. Plus, IMO Pete and John are good to very good at public speaking. KK is not. That comes across to voters as not prepared or not confident in oneself. Right or wrong, that’s the way I saw it when I watched KK speak at public venues.

Now moving on to the two remaining mayoral candidates, take a look at the picture of Marchetti standing shoulder to shoulder with the Cultural Competency Coach should tell you all you need to know about him: he’ll continue the Flat Tyer racial grift with your remaining ARPA tax dollars and her “vibrant and dynamic” policies.

No, me either. I thought was consider a felony, fraud to be precise.

Not the Cultural Competency Coach under the Flat Tyer and/or Picklesfield’s ARPA Star Chamber. They believe YOU the taxpayer owe it to Shirl. Why do they believe this? I don’t know. Ask the Star Chamber or Marchetti now. They seem to believe we owe Shirl a living.

Pittsfield has spoken and Marchetti swept every city ward. The message was this: voters are finished with grandstanders like John Krol.People have had it with the tired old promise of change. It’s a weak default, the kind of hustle we saw from Harrington that was not the type of change anyone would ever wish for. I’m sure all Krol’s clients will be happy to know he wants them as customers after all.

I agree. There is a mine field of issues left in her wake and taxing the populace into bankruptcy is only going to solve a few of them. Some things don’t go away by throwing taxpayer money at them i.e., homeless, drugs, crime and all the baggage they carry with them
If the next mayor tries to get by with sycophant department heads who do not know their shit, the resulting problems will spike a high anxiety in the hot shot offices. Even with almost zero oversight the problems could ooze out and be concerning.

Everything = Relative (A = B)

You claim that if it is not-relative, it is nothing. Nothing, being not null, is something. Therefore, there your assumption needs work.

This is just verified proof that if Marchetti gets in it will just be more of the same bullcrap, mainly higher taxes. Is Mayor Barry going to finagle the budget under Marchetti like he has done for 8 years coaching Bowtie Kerwood?

Also, while driving around the city today I couldn’t help but notice that for every single Marchetti sign, there are at least 5 Krol signs all around on taxpayer’s properties. Did people just decide to stay home and wait for the final election or are people so fed up they figure why bother. Just seems rather strange, but then again, it’s a typical Pittsfield election.

I read the news story about the allegations against John Krol by Stacey Carver that he “stole” $6,800 from her not-for-profit animal shelter organization years ago. She provided documents that showed that John Krol made 5 separate transfers from her not-for-profit animal organization to his credit card, and that it took him a while to pay the money back. John Krol called her allegations “a political hit job”, and he denied any wrongdoing. John Krol was experiencing financial hardship at the time. Allen Harris financially helped John Krol pay back $6,100 to make the animal organization whole again. John Krol never paid back Allen Harris. The animal organization’s accountant wrote about John Krol: “Embezzlement of funds by a director”. Carver and Harris are divorced, but they still run Berkshire Money Management together. They also paid John Krol $30,000 to do marketing work for their financial company, but they said John Krol skipped town. Carver said that she is exposing John Krol for being a “crook”. She is warning voters that John Krol should not be trusted as a candidate for Mayor of Pittsfield.

John couldn’t pay his bills through his “successful” 180 media company and allegedly stole money to cover his ass and then was thrown a lifeline by a former friend in Allen Harris and still managed to alienate himself from him. 180 media must be pretty bad too because BMM seemed to be backing John’s little podcast attempt a few years ago and now wouldn’t even take free seerjives to pay off a debt? The details in this case will be interesting to some but to me this is none of our business except it shows that John is not qualified to run a city. The morality of this guy is incredible. Just like Trump. In the face of clear evidence he says it was a hit piece, it was a long time ago, it was the bank’s fault.
It’s happening because “They are supporting Peter?” Of course they are because of his behavior! As far as the 30k goes he acts like it’s nothing but its evidence he needed the money. Well, that didn’t take long! Here comes the political slime tactics. Here comes the lawsuits caused by the fruckin gobsips of Pittsfield. Isn’t the Mazzeo fake lawsuit enough for them? Always felt that Allan Harris is crooked and now another Marchetti supporter Stacy Carver has a resolved “flashback” that she had to bring to the crooked Eagle, who prodded her to do this? How long had the Eagle been writing this article? How come they only gave Krol less than an hour to respond? Such a breaking story, yet subscribers never hear about the terrible crime in the city, we learn from Albany or Springfield.

Is the Marchetti Campaign that nervous that they had to result to slime politics? Maybe Marchetti should spend more time wondering why no one voted. Could it possibly be that taxpayers don’t like either candidate or have thrown in the towel because the mess we have all been enduring for years and don’t want more of the same. I challenge the Eagle to write a story for tomorrow stating all the “wonderful things” Marchetti has done for the taxpayers during his lengthy term.

Suggest everyone view John Krol’s response on his Facebook page. Pittsfield has suffered long enough; I truly wish this slime tactic backfires on Marchetti.

Stacy Carver and Allen Harris live in dalton so they can’t vote in this election. I highly doubt the Marchetti campaign had anything to do with this. I’m guessing as the article stated Ms Carver didn’t want the voters not to know what Krol is capable or incapable of. That was what ‘was’ for dentures. Agonizing pain; facial distortion. The old President did not retire to comfortable pastures and was completely spent and abused by the time he ended public service. Tragic life.

How many politicians today need to be begged to serve consecutive terms? And how many would forgo profit and comfort? I petitioned to cut the Council pay last budget – the first cut of many I had made. Go back and watch what happened next.

I agree. We should drop entirely the terms ‘left’ and ‘right’ They are inherently divisive and non-descriptive.

Chartock had interviewed Mario Cuomo about the Supreme Court Justices. He asked, “Isn’t it a problem that [X] is conservative? He is biased.”

Cuomo: “Define ‘conservative;”

Chartock “Whaa? You know what a conservative is”

Cuomo: “No. I don’t have a clue what you mean by conservative.”

Chartock: “You know very well, a person who is conservative is easy to spot”

Cuomo: “Ridiculous. I have no idea what conservative applies to any one person. Judge[X] may have views on abortion we can agree is conservative. Bus is he conservative on school choice? What is conservative on school choice?”

Chartock: “Awww come on. You know what I mean”

Cuomo:”NO. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU MEAN! That’s my point.”

I appreciate that. You offer a good compromise, but I don’t resist adopting the terms, I reject them.

We don’t know what she means. I’m certain no one knows what they mean.

Political struggle, through all human civilization, is defined by the struggle for liberty and the struggle for tyranny. The story of King Saul (“Prayed For”) lays it out straight. Left and Right – they are divorced from human experience.

Karen should also be upset because the Eagle intentionally held back the Krol information to keep Karen off of the mayoral ticket. They didn’t want Karen. They can’t control her, but they can control Marchetti. By they I mean the far leftists in this area. Honestly even if Krol did this, he would probably be a better candidate than Marchetti because Marchetti and his leftists are stealing blindly from the working class everyday.

Meanwhile, Pittsfield’s Pot King recently purchased a $950,000 mansion that is 0.3 miles from Mayor Linda Tyer’s mansion in Pittsfield’s elitist Gated Community neighborhood west of BCC. Who invested in “Luciforo’s” “Berkshire Roots” marijuana business? Wasn’t Nuciforo an alleged illegal double dipper with Boston’s big banks and insurance companies in the mid-2000s? Didn’t the King of Pot in Pittsfield use his political connections in Pittsfield and Boston alike to cash in on the green products? Compared to John Krol’s alleged “theft” of $6,800, Nuciforo’s story of political corruption and his Pittsfield Pot Kingdom is huge! BUT, But, but, Nuciforo is a Good Old Boy Democratic Party Prince of Pittsfield politics, unlike John Krol.

Krol still hasn’t addressed, to my knowledge, his conflict of interest dilemma if voted in as mayor. MA ethics law states that “a school committee member with a spouse employed by the school district is in clear violation of the conflict of interest laws.” The Pittsfield mayor sits on the school committee. Krol’s wife is employed by the PPS. As mayor Krol would have to recuse himself from every school committee vote.

I’ve noticed many neighbors have pulled their Krol lawn signs off their yards after today’s story in the Eagle.

The school dept sucks the most taxpayers dollars out of the city’s budget. Why would I vote for Krol since his current income stream (his wife’s salary & pension) is dependent on the PPS? We need a mayor willing to be involved in and vigilant of all school-related issues and expenditures without conflict of interest. His wife would have to resign her position before the Nov. election for me to believe no conflict of interest exists.

Maybe Stacy waited to see if John was going to make it through the preliminaries and had this come to light to expose John for what he is and to protect Pittsfield from a person who is not qualified to handle finances for a $200 million dollar budget. If he didn’t get through the preliminaries maybe she would have spared him the embarrassing truth coming public. John’s excuses cannot excuse that he didn’t have money to cover his debt yet somehow he got it from somewhere mysteriously. If he had the money to pay he wouldn’t have had to get another advance from Allen. Sorry John I think your goose is cooked.

If it was an honest accounting mistake, why did he need 6,100 of the 6,800 taken in loans to pay back? And wasn’t Krol and Harris in bed together to get Harrington elected at this same time? I’d be curious of the timing of these allegations to him leaving the area. If his wife knew about it then obviously he was worried.

Also, who saves text messages from four years ago?

He won’t get charged it’s too complicated given the payback already happening. Besides, even if he was investigated he wouldn’t be the first politician to be looked at by the D-A and not get charged, ain’t that right Smitty? Hopefully Andrea went full on Enron with those recordings.

People don’t usually steal from a public source to cover a one time expense only once. Note: I say, ‘usually.’ Take it for what it’s worth.

Here’s the thing – the feral cat 990 tax forms are public records. And no, they were not filed by Barry Clairmont.

The 2018 tax form notes a discrepancy of $709, described as “Embezzlement of funds by director discovered after year end – 709” which matches the bank statement entries of $209 and $500 provided in the Eagle story.

In 2019, the rest of the misappropriated funds ($6,120.58) were not reported.

That year, the 990 tax form notes a credit of $476 described as the “Repayment of funds inappropriately borrowed by former director 476”

I’m having a hard time seeing a crime here. For everyone who has their panties in a bunch about prosecuting John Krol, the statute of limitations on embezzlement is 6 years. It’s been nearly five. The chance of prosecuting the guy for $709 five years ago seems like a long shot.

In an embezzlement prosecution, several elements must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Something tells me the backstory includes a lot of doubt.

The only thing the Eagle article shows is payments to a credit card, the admittance of an error, and a promise to pay back the money.

Embezzlement must show intentional fraudulent activity. In fact in 2019, the business refers to the activity as “inappropriate borrowing”, not fraud.

No transaction was ever reported as unauthorized except for the $709 in 2018, on the 990 tax form, five years ago.

Krol is lying, why? Because he’s talking.

His explanation makes no sense.
He accidentally got the wrong routing number from GFCU for a not for profit account versus his own personal account? Hogwash.
When he paid those bills and didn’t he see the money coming out of his account, what did he think was going on?

If it wasn’t a financial hardship, why couldn’t he pay the money back immediately? Why did he have to borrow $6,100 from Harris?
If it wasn’t a financial hardship, he should have had that surplus $6,800 laying around.

He blames everyone and ascribes minimal blame to himself.

My guess is he knew exactly what he was doing, figured if things went south, Harris would bail him out.
He ran away from Pittsfield why? One day here then GONE!

I want to know what financial involvement he had with the Harrington campaign and why they parted ways.

Although it effects me daily, I’m really happy I don’t live in Pittsfield.

Pittsfield effects the whole county.

I remember when North Street was “dynamic and vibrant”. I remember GE leaving and the Mayor selling out for 40 pieces of silver. I’ve seen those 40 pieces squandered. I’ve seen a moral and ethical decay. I’ve seen gangs move in. I’ve seen welfare queens and bums treated better than elderly citizens . I’ve seen more than I want too……..

I see Pittsfield has become a little Springfield sewer.

Re: Jon Melle’s thoughts on John Krol’s radio interview

My thoughts on John Krol’s radio interview are that he has enemies in Pittsfield politics. Unfortunately, Jon Melle has gone through similar unusual and mean-spirited events in Pittsfield politics since I was only 20 years old in the Spring 1996 – I am now 48 in the late-summer 2023 – thanks to a 4 foot piece of poop that walks around Pittsfield and Boston in the form of a man.

I do not understand why Barry Clairmont is suing Melissa Mazzeo for defamation of his reputation. I don’t understand why John Krol will pursue a defamation civil suit against the named and unnamed people in the Dirty Bird’s so-called “hit piece”. The best thing I have done is to write, email and blog about how I am a persecuted person in Pittsfield politics. People who care about Pittsfield politics know that I was hurt because my dad, Bob, was a Berkshire County Commissioner (1997 – mid-2000).

I disagree with John Krol that he is not part of the political machine because he is endorsed by Jimmy Ruberto and Melissa Mazzeo. He is not part of the political machine that is currently in power in Pittsfield politics. In all levels of politics, I feel like at the end of the day, the ruling elites are all in collusion to enrich themselves and their wealthy campaign donors at the public trough, while the rest of us pound sand.

Lastly, I agree with John Krol that most people avoid politics because of the cut throat actions of a few insiders who hurt anyone who stands in their way of power and money.

Jon Melle

Just read that Mass. has a ginormous subsidized housing program but still has super long waiting list. Probably reading about the freebies in Caracas, Venezuela and Lima, Peru newspapers. “Get yourself to Massachusetts ASAP” Subsidized housing and guess what? Crimminals being discharged are being given what was not so long ago senior housing. Real seniors are on long waiting lists. Oh yah it is true. Ask the folk at Waconah Heights.

So true Dan. The far left is robbing from the working class to take care of the illegals. Housing will be hard to find for people who have worked here all their lives. The far left has zero concern for the working class who have lived here and paid taxes all their lives.

Pat,
You are wrong about the leftist having no concern about the working class! They are concerned about finding new methods and reasons to tax the middle class even more than they are already doing to pay for this illegal invasion they are supporting and encouraging.

Horrible argument made: “Because the Charter Objection didn’t succeed in convincing the majority, it was misused.”

Bad Thinking! Plus, it reveals the arrogance of the Council majority.

That statement argues that the minority vote is valued when it influences the majority. That fails universally as witnessed by the fact that it never happens. The majority never compromises and never fails. Winner takes all in City Hall.

American traditions protect the minority voice. The Charter Objection provides even a minority of 1 the capacity to extend deliberation and make public a dispute.

The key objection by that same councilor, and frankly from all the others, argued that extending deliberation inconveniences family plans. Some thinking there.

Amend the CO by saying it shant be invoked within 72 hours of a soccer match?

Also misunderstood by opponents: what does a minority, just one councilor, represent? One sole councilor, on a single issue, may represent thousands of individuals.

Examples: I presented a petition for term limits. I estimate that over 50% voters support some form of limits. Then the Charter Objection to delay hearing to hike water rates. I am certain that thousands wanted to hear alternatives to hiking rates.

Admit that my post yesterday regarding the Krol issue was not one of my better ones. When I read the headlines, it turned me into crazed person. Namely that I am beyond fed up with the goings on in Pittsfield. As a native of Pittsfield, I am beyond angry with how local politicians have ruined our once beautiful city, especially the last 8 years. We still haven’t resolved the political mess from the last mayoral campaign.

Have read the Beagle’s article several times. have read many posts and listened to Krol’s explanation. I still have a few thoughts.

It seems to be a very belated comedy of errors.

Why did Stacy Carver wait so long, until the day after the primary to come forth.

Greylock made an error. TD Bank just did the same to me, I did catch it though.

Krol should have noticed this error, but honestly how many people balance their accounts now, especially with automatic payment systems?

How many people have not had a down and out period in their lives. Divorce can sometimes cause this if finances are frozen until divorce is finalized. Not sure if that happened with John.

This seemed to be a “gentlemen’s agreement” between Krol and Harris. These agreements generally backfire.

Since Harris just gave Marchetti $1,000 earlier this month, Marchetti better keep $1,000 in escrow in case Harris wants it back. .

Finally, if Krol should be forced to back out, and I hope he doesn’t, what happens? Does Marchetti automatically win, does Karen step back in or do we have to start all over?

It is a complete shame that this crap is the most important issue in Pittsfield. Evidently the egotistical behavior of all involved overpowers the total mess the once beautiful Pittsfield is in. This may be the first time since I became old enough to vote that I will just stay home and contemplate how to move out of this steadily failing city.

The invasion.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/09/governor-greg-abbott-officially-declares-invasion-southern-border/

“These illegal immigrants are invading our country and benefiting from our taxpayers’ money.
Todd Bensman, the Center’s Texas-based Senior National Security Fellow, has reported that the Biden regime is allocating a staggering $2,200 “per month” to illegal immigrant families (1 parent & 1 child) through phony asylum for the cost of living expenses. This comes at a time when the average American on Social Security receives just $1,400 per month and Maui survivors with only $700.

Bensman said that it appears these illegal immigrants may not be subjected to asylum interviews anymore. They are being released to the United States.”

Biden et al need to be held on treason charges. Sooner than later and ALL these criminals deported.

Will the Pitts new Mayor welcome these criminals and treat them better than US citizens? I’m sure Healy will, but not at her home.

I would like to point out that even if Krol did naughty things with the animal money that does not elevate Marchetti to be a worthy mayor. Krol did not have anything to do with Marchetti abandoning his elected position of city council president. Marchetti is still Tyer with an old mans face and you are guaranteed to get the whole Tyer agenda all over again if he gets elected.

Having said that, I would think that Marchetti, full knowing the importance of oversight where large sums of money are concerned, and seeing the Krol situation up front, will, if elected, immediately call for an independent forensic audit of all city budgets as soon as possible. As council president he could probably get one started Monday morning.

That would be nice Snark, but it’ll never happen.

Do you honestly think Eddie Munster Kerwood, the BBEC, or the Cultural Competency Coach, kept receipts and expenditures of all of their finances?

If so, can the Cultural Competency Coach give us all a lesson on how to fraudulently spend taxpayer money on vacations and get away with it?

I got audited by one Xiden’s 87,000 IRS agents, for $124 underpayment on my kid’s student loan payment. Yes, I had to pay back the IRS the $124.

I thought these 87,000 IRS agents that were included in the Inflation Reduction Act that Xiden signed into law were going after billionaire tax cheats? I’m not even a millionaire.

Xiden lied again. Say it isn’t so.

I really think Karen Kalinowski should be given another chance in light of these accusations against Krol. The boring broadsheet intentionally withheld that story until they dispatched Karen out of the election. Many voters would have voted for her instead of Krol and the powers that be in this area couldn’t have that. Karen was treated very unfairly by these power mad people in this city.
