PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY DEC. 9, 2023) — The Picklefield city council’s recent tax-rate deliberations remind THE PLANET of the prescient words of the 20th century’s greatest prose stylist, H.L. Mencken: “I believe that all government is evil, and that trying to improve it is largely a waste of time.”

Under the “finger-in-wind” leadership of council president and mayor-elect Peter Marchetti, our Right Honorable Good Friends tabled the whole shmeer ’til the next meeting.

It matters not in the least.

The mayor-elect, drink in hand, at a recent function.

With the homeowners rate coming in on the better part of $20/thousand and the business rate double that, The Kapanskis once again will face steep hikes, as will small businesses.

THE PLANET obtained an unofficial transcript of the secret deliberations:

MAYOR: I’m outta here, so let’s tax the shit out of them one more time, for old times sake.

MARCHETTI: Yes, ma’am! Brilliant idea, ma’am!

WHITE: I got the squirts, but I’m hungry.

Homes will become unaffordable and more businesses will close (Wayfair? Vidmob? Lakewood Creamery?), and another “Merry F’n Christmas” from Picklefield officials to the Kapanskis.

———- ooo ———-

“Deliverance” Does It Again

The Tuesday “deliberations” on the tax rate resembled a puckered prune soaking in battery-acid brine.
“It was monstrous,” as one observer noted.
Outgoing Ward 2’s Charles Kronick argued fully and forcefully for an independent auditor, and then, the council’s dumbest rock, “Deliverance” Kal, comes forth and asks, “Are we able to hire an auditor?”
Momentum grinds to a screeching halt.
City attorney Steve Pagliacci, the Sad Clown, pounced on the opening: “No, you cannot.” Pags offered without proof or precedent. Just “no.” That was good enough for the council. In fact, the city council as co-governor CAN request funds for an auditor. Initial research also suggests the council can mandate it.
Fat chance.
Pure “Deliverance”: Asking the wrong question at the worst time to get the lousiest outcome.
She made Sir Chaz look incompetent and made the GOBs look professional when it was the other way around.  Then, to add a fudge topping, Kalinowski votes to support Sir Chaz’s request. Go figure.
Crass, Dense, Dumb, and Dull, to say nothing of Snap, Crackle, and Pop.
———- ooo ———-

Toughen Up, Kids

THE PLANET has to laugh at the Harvard students who were “terrified” by campus protesters who demonstrated and interrupted classes. We recall (recoil) chaos on campuses during the late 1960s and early 70s that make what happened at Harvard look like Romper Room.

Today’s students, though, need “safe rooms” and to ban free speech.

It doesn’t matter whether you agree or disagree with the pro-palestinian demonstrations. Personally, THE PLANET thinks such campus disruptions are pointless and self-referential. We lived through many of them without losing sight of why we were on campus in the first place: to go to class and learn.

Free speech in America should be rough, ragged, and vile to the limits of inhibiting the free speech of others. When you force classrooms to shut down, you’re interfering with the right of other students to attend class. Still, the answer isn’t to demand the administration curtail free speech, as Harvard’s Hillel has done.

Message to everyone on campus, everywhere: Toughen up, get rid of the safe rooms, and keep classrooms open.

Riddle: When is a hangnail not a closet?” — Sir Donald Turpentine, Knight of the Bath.

“OPEN THE WINDOW, AUNT MILLIE.”

Predictable Pittsfield politics has no choice but to play the same old financial shell games with the state government in Boston. Since Proposition 2.5 passed and was enacted into state law over 40 years ago now, the city has always passed a municipal operating budget with a spending increase of 5 percent or higher.

Proposition 2.5 is an irrational and arbitrary spending constraint that led to local governments having to play financial shell games with the state that ended up excessively increasing municipal spending since Larry Bird started winning NBA championships with the Boston Celtics. It is long passed time to repeal Proposition 2.5, along with all of the other unnecessary public spending constraints that lead to the exact opposite of their intended purpose: Increased Public Spending that kills private sector economic growth.

Why Proposition 2.5 is still on the books after over 40 years shows how STUPID and MISGUIDED the corrupt career politicians on Beacon Hill are about public financial management policies.

Do you all understand that Boston is systemically mocking “Gateway Cities” such as Pittsfield and the taxpayers who live in Pittsfield? The multi-billion-dollar Massachusetts State Lottery is a perfect illustration. The lottery SCAM pays the mostly low- to moderate-income buyers a small fraction of their scarce dollar(s) over the long-term. The lottery SCAM targets the underclass and mostly financially illiterate mostly blue collar working class residents. The lottery SCAM is nothing more than a (voluntary) regressive taxation SCHEME. The lottery SCAM makes profits off of distressed cities such as Pittsfield. The lottery SCAM pays Pittsfield state aid dollars, but otherwise equitable and progressive taxation schemes would pay Pittsfield a lot more money in state aid dollars than the lottery SCAM.

Why am I explaining all of this to you? The answer is that Pittsfield politics and the puppet-like state and local career politicians are playing all of you for FOOLS, especially in distressed cities such as Pittsfield, Massachusetts, which is my native hometown and a place I have studied for three decades of my adult life of 48 years.

The ruling elites in Pittsfield are in bed with the ruling elites in Boston, who are enriching themselves at the public trough by giving their wealthy big business campaign contributors billions of dollars per fiscal year in state tax breaks, while selling the lottery SCAM to Pittsfield and the people who live in Pittsfield. Also, Boston area big businesses do NOT exist in Pittsfield and many other areas of Massachusetts, which means that Beacon Hill lawmakers are screwing over these distressed areas they supposedly represent in Boston.

In Pittsfield politics, the career politicians are NOT your friends! It – state and local government – is all one big financial shell game to the ruling, corporate and financial elites. To be clear, the DISSERVICES the career politicians are doing to Pittsfield and its residents mean that there is nobody in state and local government representing the city and the taxpayers. Ergo, the December 12th, 2023, vote to increase the municipal tax by 8.75 percent is already a done deal.

Planet posters. The day of reckoning has arrived. This city has four good Samaritans: kronic blumin Valenti and me. we make up the small posse who fights city hall every time that body of clowns meets every other Tuesday
I have followed the planet for a very long time yet I have never seen a pV poster at a city council meeting. TodYs blog about taxes might be dated already. The coming tX hikes and ,w/S rates are going to doom many hard working kapanskis. If you had shown some guts things may have been different but you hid behind a key board and missed the opportunity to foster real change. I have done my part and have even been arrested for sticking up for the tax and rate payers—you the kzpanskis. To you Charles you fought the good fight but received no support from the kapanskis. And finally you Dan the ultimate supporter of the kapanskis ,–you have had to wonder on more than one occasion-‘ where the he’ll are the kapanskis? Do I sound upset,– yes I am. unless we see a great deal more of you kapanskis, you might as well pack it in and leave this politically tainted city that we all loved at one time or another. Once more try acting and stop hiding behind a keyboard. Your voices are in greT demand

First off, I’ll give you credit for trying to fight the Picklefield regime.

Now, to play devil’s advocate, I have sat back and watched you get trounced at every stop of the way. Sometimes it was your own doings or misdoings, but most of the times you were pounding your head against a brick wall trying to fight against Flat and Co. I could sit back and watch this, like an MLB power hitter getting ready to tee-off on a 90MPH fastball left over the middle of the plate.

Why would I want that in my life? I don’t have the money to personally go against the GOBSIG’s.

I mean for Christmas sakes Craig you couldn’t even beat Dina Horton-Tucker-Xi-Wilson-Lampiasi (D-whatever is trendy), so to come on here and call us keyboard warriors, maybe step back and reflect inward a bit buddy.

To judge is to err, MA. But the lack of public challenge to the mob, the lack of inspired candidates, and the lack of public support for those who were (Mr. Blumin) is the reason you have an Mayor risen from the ranks of City Council and 11 council picked and approved councilors.

But the truth is that Craig is right. 100 % right.

An apathetic public allows the special interests to run roughshod. The politicians very well know this which makes it so much easier for them to do everything they want. They feed the union voter, get a big majority of their own sycophant people in as mayor and council and they own us. And the fatal blow is the total lack of oversight. No one is going to slow this power structure down never mind stop it.

And this has been the case for a long time and there is almost zero likelihood that it will change. In fact the people have been losing ground for over a decade. Much of the population is low income, elderly or just ignorant to how badly they are being taken advantage of. These people are not really able to take up the fight to get the ethical government they deserve and the power structure takes advantage of this.

Which is why I, sometime ago, began to advocate for middle income people desiring to raise a family, to locate elsewhere. In Pittsfield your income is eaten by the city in so many ways that it is hard to ever get ahead. You may be able to exist as middle income but you will not get ahead and your children will not get the better chances in life.
You and your children deserve better. Do not stay until you are boxed in by either not having enough money to get out or you are too old. I wish there were a site where the many who have left could post and tell of their experience.

I don’t think so.

First – forget China and North Korea.

Absolutely they understand venting’s role in defusing protest, and there are plenty of examples. British kings/tyrants allowed for days of rage. “Today, you may lay it on thick.” The East German Stasi actually engaged artists to ‘protest’ state oppression in the form of incomprehensible Post Modern installations that had nothing to say to the general public (New Yorker – 1993). Current Soviet leaders (Putin) ‘encourage’ bloggers to ‘criticize’ military ops in the Ukraine.

To continue – China and NK, those are totalitarian successes. The objective of the totalitarian regime is to make venting completely unnecessary by brainwashing the general public into zealotry and orthodoxy and use them to oppress the disaffected minority.

K: You are optimistic and that’s good. But you should consider the writing of nineteenth century sociologists who penned the discovery that tyrants always are invited in by the people and serve with their pleasure. Don’t mistake venting and the buried writings of the disaffected for proof of liberty and free expression.

I have lived in Amherst, NH, for 20 years now. Pittsfield is a place many thousands of people have fled from. My dad, Bob, was a Pittsfield area politician 25 years ago when he served as a Berkshire County Commissioner from 1997 – mid-2000. We all know what happened to my dad and I back then at the hands of Pittsfield’s devilish 4 foot tall piece of poop in the form of a man who has went to pot. I remember going to Beacon Hill with my dad back in the late-1990’s when he testified about county government to state lawmakers. If looks and words could kill, my dad and I would not be around today. State and local career politicians only want big campaign contributions and millions and billions of taxpayer dollars. Someone such as “Jon Melle” and “Bob Melle” are supposed to tell “Smitty Pignatelli” how wonderful he is for going to Boston for a little less than 21 years now in late-2023, but that whopper would even worse than all of the world’s HOT AIR!

Let’s see. Nuciforo is suing the City of Pittsfield over his Pittsfield Pot Kingdom named “Berkshire Roots”‘s payments to the city of $440,000 in HCAs fees from years ago. Why do you write that I should stop writing about Nuciforo’s never ending political persecution of me over the past over 27.5 years now, but it is somehow O.K. for Nuciforo to sue the city over his predatory marijuana company’s past HCAs payments plus unspecified damages?

What about the fact that the residential neighborhoods near Nuciforo’s largest in the Berkshires marijuana growing three story building on Dalton Avenue in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, have complained for years that Berkshire Roots’ pot growing operation fill their properties with unpleasant pot growing odors? As for Nuciforo, this past Summer of 2023, he purchased a $950,000 mansion in Pittsfield’s elitist Gated Community that is 0.3 miles from Mayor Linda Tyer and CPA Barry Clairmont’s mansion close to the Hancock border. Nuciforo himself does NOT live near his Dalton Avenue Pittsfield Pot Kingdom!

The irony of Nuciforo’s lawsuit is that he himself is a disgraced politician. In 2006, Nuciforo had to step down in disgrace from his elected position as a Pittsfield, Massachusetts State Senator in Boston because he was allegedly illegally double dipping as the Chair of the State Senate Finance Committee while at the same time he served as legal counsel for Boston’s big banks and insurance companies for the Boston Law Firm Berman and Dowell from 1999 – 2006. These facts were all published in the Boston Globe in early-2007.

Yet, Nuciforo’s lawsuit basically argues that Mayor Linda Tyer acted in BAD FAITH with his marijuana company’s HCAs payments to the city that took place years ago. Going back in history, it is clear that the bad faith politician was Andrea Francesco Nuciforo Junior, who is a disgraced former politician, while Mayor Linda Tyer is NOT a disgraced politician. In fact, Mayor Linda Tyer has received praises from state and local officials throughout Massachusetts because she is a good public manager.

Beacon Hill’s Statehouse in Boston is a den of corruption, secrecy, financial inequity with the financial, corporate and ruling elites all enriching themselves at the public trough, while the common people and distressed areas throughout Massachusetts are mocked with DISSERVICES such as the multi-billion-dollar state lottery SCAM, which is nothing more than (voluntary) regressive taxation that exploits the underclass financial illiteracy.

For Nuciforo to have had to step down as a Massachusetts State Senator in 2006, he must have done something(s) really wrong back then. I wonder what Mayor Linda Tyer’s thoughts are about Nuciforo’s lawsuit against the City of Pittsfield. She must be thinking that Nuciforo is the pot calling the kettle black.

81 million votes my ass.

2024 election will be more corrupt than 2020 and 2022. Nothing has been done to make American elections secure, fair, and not corrupt. The massive fraud of 2020’s farce, has just made the corruption more blatant and widespread (e.g. Arizona 2022).

Voter ID. ALL OTHER countries have it. They “carded me”: at Walmart to buy automotive cleaning products, buy beer, board a plane, cross the border unless you jump the fence then Biden gives you free food housing and education, drive a car, enter a courthouse or federal building,………..but NOT TO VOTE!!!

No “early” and month(s) late voting/counting. Let’s see how many votes we “need” to win counting BS like nights/days of Nov 2020….

No foreign built voting machines or software, or internet connections.

Paper ballots. Machines can count those, that’s it. No destruction of the paper ballots for 2 years.

No blocking of poll observers by the Leftists, or anyone else. Impartial poll observers, not just those affiliated/beholding to a single party or political ideologies.

Absentee voting only with proper reasons and ballot mailed only to verified registered voters to verified addresses.

Clean the voter registrations of the dead, non-residents of voting precincts, criminal aliens.

If the Liberals/Leftists have problems/issues with the above, they are NOT for free and fair elections.

He also knows vigilantism too.

Dirty Barry once cleaned up a Cumby’s parking lot of the riffraff his wife and Tricia Farley-Country Buffet (D-illegal aliens), have blessed Picklefield with.

It was a frigid Sunday morning at 2AM, in fairness to the riffraff though.

Inquiring minds want to know, did Mr. Worldwide, aka-Mr. Payroll Protection Plan, aka-Dirty Barry, wash down his tofu with a big sugary Slurpee from Cumby’s?

The thing about Fettermen is that he knows his job is to represent the people. Most Pittsfield city councilors are either unaware of that or just do not care. They think that if they answer a few phone calls and say something stupid once in a while in the chambers that they are doing their job.. They are not. They are not adding to the betterment of the community anymore than the homeless are. In fact they actively contribute to its demise.

I’m glad Dan finally made the Deliverance connection with Kal. She had much shorter hair in the movie but the eyes are the dead give away. She’s a hell of a banjo player though, so she has that after her term ends.

It unfortunate that spitting Warren got reelected without opposition because he’s blithering idiot.

On an unrelated note. I see Kels Tree Service grind stumps with one guy on scene. Today I passed the city grinding a stump on Springside Ave with no less than 8 city workers standing around with thumbs up their ass. And using what appeared to be a brand new stump grinder. Does the city really do that much tree work that they need their own stump grinder?? Smells like bullshit to me. But Ricardo is too busy playing the climate change board game to know what his staff is doing. At least according to his Facebook post today.

Curious to know who the stump belonged to. Reminds me of the time earlier this year when I saw a City dump truck pulling out of the Country Club full of tree branches. This was after the city said they would not pay for the new chimneys for them.

The tree was on the city side I can at least defend that side of the situation. But all the workers standing around picking their nose was atrocious.

Dan – I object to your characterization of jewish students protesting the aggressive and threatening behavior of the Hamas presence on their campuses (to which they pay tuition.) They are objecting to the same behavior and the same people probably who threaten and endanger invited speakers that offend them, rally to rip ‘conservative’ (any professpor, including liberals, who diss them) out of their seats and employment, and shut down classrooms whenever a cause du-jour happens somewhere in the USA – usually some guy who goes postal over a legitimate traffic stop.

The people you are challenging are actually taking a stand. They should be supported by those who post on this board.

Western Europe is in a tizzy. Immigrant gangs getting stronger and crime rising. Is this a canary in the coal mine OR IS IT JUST TOO LATE NOW? When they band together because there is not enough food to feed them in America how will this all manifest? Looks like someone did not consider the ramifications of letting unrestricted hordes in overwhelming all systems and getting worse by the day. tell me how this is NOT happening? The momentum may be too much to control already. Not gonna be pretty out there people. I give it six months before the total meltdown.

This was all planned by Biden and his globalist buddies. Soon we will be overrun by terrorism and crime in general from playing games with the police and the justice system and having nor borders. The globalists want to impose a police state here. They have created this mess and their solution will give them lots of power over us.

It was not well thought out much like trumps insurrection. If he had followed Putins plan to the letter and not given up early he would be sitting in the White House today. I heard Putin was ripshit watching it on TV and when Trump called it off Putin told the girl that gave him the golden shower “no more for Trump”. He was THAT pissed off man.

An unarmed insurrection with undercover FIB and DHS Agents inciting the crowd. Capitol Police Officers breaking down security barriers for the crowd to gain entrance into the Capitol. Capitol Police Officers holding the door for the crowd, or helping people take selfies, and fist bumping the crowd as they walked by them.

I guess I missed that chapter in Sun Tzu’s, “The Art of War.”

Here you go Snark, a little music by John Mellencamp, singing about the “Fedsurrection.”

Goon further than the tax increases the blight promise, crime increase, misuse of arpa.Dribving down the city today what I did see was empty sidewalks empty buildings with no traffic. If you go by the bus stop check out the trash on the ground at that location. There were twenty people under the bus stop some drinking, definitely overcrowded. Wasn’t a good look. The plungers look ghetto as does the green markings in the road.

Military families have been kicked out of hotels in Foxboro, MA for the Army/Navy games. Illegal immigrants have taken over the hotels because there was never any plan for bringing them here. Just pour them in to create chaos was the goal of Biden and the far left globalists.

So according to Yourself nearly 1 in 2 Americans that “voted” Nov 2020 are “spongeheads” and “Military terrorists”.

Oh yah? Well no republican has ever passed an eighth grade woodworking class and not one of the bird houses they made were serviceable even to migratory birds who set a pretty low bar for temporary housing. And most of them made the entry holes so big that predatory birds stole and ate the eggs of unsuspecting nesters. 74 million bird houses in the dump buddy. Which one is yours?

If you are saying that artists and craftsmen are typically (forget the absurd ‘exclusively’) Democrat, you are misinformed. Having gone through several art institutions and a decade on the craft circuit, I’d put the balance towards Republican. However, we didn’t make a big deal about our differences. In fact, we didn’t make any deal about our differences. We really didn’t mind our differences.

Therefore, I dispute K’s grade of ‘genius.’

FBI Director Wray says our terror threat is at an all time high. Add to that the out of control crime in major cities and this country is facing serious problems and Biden and his policies are the cause of all of it. Open borders, no respect for law enforcement, and a 2-tier justice system have created the perfect storm for “the blinking red light of terror threats” that the FBI Director is warning about. The left will deny all of it and focus on Trump being the cause of all of the problems in the country. They have no choice now as the country sees the chaos that the Democratic party is creating.
