THE ABOLISHMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION CAN’T COME FAST ENOUGH FOR STUDENTS, PARENTS, AND TAXPAYERS.
BY DAN VALENTI
PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY
(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, FEAST OF ST. JOSEPH, MARCH 19, 2025) — That wailing and gnashing of teeth emanating from the Lair of the Progressives — a parched, forlorn place, that — comprise the notes from a funeral. The corpse, the U.S. Department of Education, died from bureaucratitis. This virus has long been the bane of the taxpayer, who has coughed up trillions in tribute only to provide do-nothing jobs for political patrons.
If President Trump doesn’t eliminate this budinsky department entirely, you can be sure it will be cut down to size. “Honey, I Shrunk the DOE.” THE PLANET and other “common sense” thinkers applaud.
This is all to the good for a simple reason: We don’t need it.
Progressives, the euphemism for Loon Liberals, tip their hands in the very defense of the agency they adore: “We need the DOE for its vital role in leveling the playing field for disadvantaged students.” Go no further. We have entered DEI territory.
———- ooo ———-
“Such claims fail to pass muster. Protections for civil rights and for students with disabilities predate the agency. They’ll remain in place after [the DOE] is eliminated,” says Lance Reynolds, director of the Center for Education Policy. “All told, the Department of Education’s legacy is one of bureaucratic waste and federal overreach, not of educational improvement.”
The key facts:
- Federal spending per pupil has more than doubled since 1979, when “well-meaning” politicians created the DOE. God save us from “do-gooders.”
- Over the same period, high school achievement scores have sharply declined. We see it locally in Bitchfield. Almost one billion dollars ($1B with a “B”) has been spent on the city public schools in the past decade, and for that outrageous sum, Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski have received failing schools, failing students, and get-rich-quick “educators.”
- Fully 1/3 of U.S. high schools graduates are functionally illiterate.
- Since 1960 nationwide, school administration has increased 381%, non-teaching staff is up 709%, and the salaries of administrators and teachers had skyrocketed. Average compensation for a teacher in the Bitchfield Socohl system, pushing $90,000/annum. Administrators begin at six figures.
“Clearly, whatever the Department of Education has been doing with its money hasn’t worked for students,” Reynolds said. “Quite the opposite: Ever-increasing federal spending on education has supported an ongoing staff, with school districts hiring armies of non-teaching administrative. staff.”
In Bitchfield, the number of students has plunged by half but the numbers of administrators, teachers, staff have more than doubled, and performance has sunk to new lows. Do the math. Something’s not adding up. Throw in multiple scandals involving sex, drugs, and other crimes, and you have a pathetic mess, that the mayor, the superintendent, and the school committee refuse to own.
As the DOE grew, so did the “educational” programs it created and forced upon local districts, creating what Congress called a “cottage industry in selling information on program descriptions, application deadlines, and filing instructions for each of the myriad of federal programs.”
Public education had become politicized and bureaucratized. We see the results in Bitchfield. Basic curricula — reading, writing, math, history, science–was scrapped in favor of “feel good” initiatives, self-esteem initiatives, sex education deviance and other harmful topics. Result: kids graduating with worthless diplomas.
Reynolds: “All told, the Department of Education has failed to achieve any of the purposes for which it was created. It’s increased costs across the board and done nothing to improve education outcomes. If it were a business, it would have gone under a long time ago. It’s time to put an end to it once and for all.”
THE PLANET says why stop there. Abolish the state DOE, return control to the local districts, and pray to God that a biblical pestilence eviscerates the teachers’ unions on all levels. Until that happens, our kids don’t have a chance.

Any hack who works at DOE is welcome at the Pittsfield school department
March 19, 2025
Hello blogger Dan Valenti,
The three platforms of the middle-class family structure are: Housing, Healthcare, & Education. If one takes away any of the three platforms, then there won’t be a middle-class anymore in the U.S.A.
Without public education, the system of class warfare will go from the billionaires always winning while the common people have a fighting chance at attaining financial security to one of only the billionaires always winning with no fighting chance for the rest of us.financial fools who have been conditioned by the elites to accept a life of socioeconomic and financial misery.
How do we get out from our country’s huge underclass and low-to moderate-income working-class population that has lost out on achieving the middle-class family structure over the past 50 or so years?
The Answer: Provide real opportunities for our youth to be able and willing to earn a living in full-time, living wage jobs, as well as financially educate the common people to stop being conditioned to be financial fools by the government, and to see through the GREED of the elites who have put in place such an inequitable system.
How do we get out from under a system of structural assaults on the common people by the career politicians and greedy lobbyists and the elites that they serve in the government?
The answer is that we change the system from the same elites who always win to one whereby we elect new politicians who actually invest in the common people and the communities that they live in because the government is supposed to serve We the People instead of only the elites who run the show for their own financial benefit.
You, blogger Dan Valenti, cite Pittsfield (Massachusetts) as an illustration of an excessive amount of state administered, federal aid, along with property tax dollars, being spent on the small city’s Group 11, Level 5 public school district as a rationale to support U.S. President Donald Trump’s dismantling of the U.S. Department of Education.
Pittsfield politics is a corrupt municipal government whereby the city officials perversely use the public school district (and other local institutions, bureaucracies, agencies, etc.) as a means to receive tens of millions of state administered, federal aid dollars per fiscal year instead of using the taxpayer dollars to actually educate the mostly poor and low-to-moderate children for proficient academic results.
In the Boston Statehouse, the corrupt career politicians enrich greedy lobbyists – some of whom report 7-figure per year incomes – also noting North Adams/Boston’s greedy registered lobbyist Dan Bosley, by giving away billions of dollars in state tax breaks per fiscal year to Boston area big businesses and other special interests that have nothing to do with Pittsfield on the other end of the Commonwealth.
In the Swamp, K Street corporate lobbyist firms write federal legislation instead of the Members of U.S. Congress that we elect for life, such as the federal legislation for Obamacare and Trump’s 2017 single largest federal tax cut in U.S. history, respectively. Moreover, none of the Members of U.S. Congress bothered to even read the aforementioned respective bills prior to voting on them. Meanwhile, the U.S. national debt will be approaching $40 trillion soon.
In short, it is “Pay to Play” in Pittsfield politics, Boston’s secretive, corrupt Statehouse, and on K Street in the Swamp whereby the U.S. Members of Congress receive many millions of dollars in special interest campaign donations, especially PAC Man Richie Neal, who is serving in his 19th term representing the mostly rural region of Western Massachusetts in the Swamp that has little to nothing to do with K Street corporate lobbyist firms, but lobbyist Dan Bosley loves to praise him with his endless letters to the editor(s) of Western Massachusetts newspapers.
Given all of the greed, corruption and “Pay to Play” career politicians, I actually feel sorry for the proverbial disadvantaged student in the Pittsfield Public School system who is not proficient in their academic performance in 2025 because there is nobody in the government who actually represents the child whose fictional last name is Kapanski.
Jon Melle
P.S. We cannot all afford to live in the nearly $1 million mansions in Pittsfield’s elitist Gated Community neighborhood west of Berkshire Community College like the former Pittsfield Mayor who has her sinecure at the nearby community college, along with her nearby neighbor, the disgraced former Pittsfield State Senator who is a marijuana millionaire.
But John, you vote for the crooks who caused the problems.
Don’t be a hypocrite.
Pure FOX media propaganda and 35 years of Rush Limbaugh lies and a President who is alligned with Russia because of a pee video that is ready to go.
Getting rid of a hack agency and giving the funds directly to the states will improve education except in blue states like Massachusetts where they will piss away the money on stupid woke crap.
Let’s get the facts straight.
90 % of states school budgets is controlled by the states and has been for a very long time.
State Depts of Education are asking for the federal Dept of Education not to be closed.
School vouchers are only a way of paying for private schools including religious schools.
Failing schools is a state issue as the states control curriculum and student and teacher standards.
Reasons for closing the Dept of Education is based on Trump lies. Oh and let’s not forget Trump’s Secretary of Education has no experience in Education …. … She doesn’t even know what IDEA law is… a very basic standard and federal law in education. She is just and like Trump and does not know what she is talking about.
Unless of course you count the fake World Federation and f Wrestling as experience in Education.
What a joke !! Get real- Go ahead Trump, close the Dept of Education and it will miraculously have all students reading writing and doing math at grade level.
CELTICS
Thanks for the input. With respect to your final two lines, the current system, put in place by the radical left, has left virtually all students unable to read, write, or do math at their grade level. What does the country have to lose? By the way, I see where the Cs were sold for a record $6.1B. That’s the highest amount ever paid for a sports franchise. BTW, I think our Cs will get the repeat this year for title #19.
Most of what he says is incorrect. Sounds good, but incorrect. DOE drives the state policies. He also ignores the fact that nationally, students’ educational outcomes has cratered.
What is true is that Mass and northeast schools will continue to degrade even without the assistance of federal money, but at least someone in Alabama, a state leading nationally with improving test scores, will not have his taxes poached.
The current system is put in place by each state. States dictate standards, teaching standards and curriculum etc not the Feds. Fed Dept of Education has nothing to do with standards etc. There is a very long list of possible contributing factors that don’t take a wild imagination to figure out that could attribute for the poor reading, writing and math of many students in the US that has nothing to do with Dept of Education on the federal level. Let’s close the Dept of Education… but what’s the game plan? Nothing has been proposed. Poor planning indeed. And the results will only bring about greater deficits.
And as you note C’s bought for record breaking amount. In the end professional sports at any level is all about making money. Let’s not fool ourselves, there is no greater alliance for some than seeing green! Trouble is only a few get to play the game at that level.
CF
These are reasonable points, but your point about the Feds having nothing to do with standards won’t hold up. By financing the state’s shell game (I’m speaking of Massachusetts) I enables the state DOE which, too, should be abolished. I agree with your point about a lack of a game plan. My plan would be to throw local education to local officials, elect only qualified people to serve on school boards, and overhaul curriculum (out with all the “feel good” BS and in with the basics). The goal: equip young people with the greatest translational skill, namely, critical thinking.
As for professional sports, it’s come down to millionaires playing for billionaires. Period. Even NCAA Division 1 is now all about money. Count me out.
JM, please give the “class warfare” or Americans against “billionaires,” horse$hit arguments a rest.
I don’t recall you complaining when “billionaire” George Soros, was tossing USAID (American tax money) to help unqualified DA’s, like Andrea “Wrong Way” Harrington, get elected and set the criminal justice field back years with her ineptitude.
As far as your “class warfare” argument, post a link with verifiable links to prove the data.
When I read over 96% of 5th grade students in Cleveland, can’t read or write at their grade level, wouldn’t you agree it weakens your argument a bit?
With all the money (ARPA) tossed to black men and women after George Floyd and the riots that followed, again your argument is flawed.
Good MSM talking points for liberal sheep like yourself though.
John wants free condoms in It’s restroom.
Class status in the USA is financially defined, and since people are lucky to enjoy a high order for as long as a short part of their lives, and are also lucky to leave a lower level, there cannot be any such thing as a class war.
There is something akin to slavery in the deep poor which is institutionalized by a specific political party.
JM’s “class warfare” driveling sounds just like Bernie Sanders driveling. Sanders once complained about millionaire’s and billionaire’s in his class warfare speeches. Once Bernie became a millionaire his speeches going forward has been all about the bad billionaire’s without mentioning the word millionaire now. Soros, Hoffman and many others, the ones who contribute to the leftist agenda are just fine.
blah, blah, blah, blah
I found a graph created by the Cato Institute on Twitter (X) that shows the percentage of money given to the DOE, as well as the increase of employees in the DOE, from 1970-2010. It compares it to the number of students entering the education system and how the money “helped” students succeed.
The total cost (money contributed) to the DOE from 1970-2010, increased by almost 200%.
The total number of employees employed by the DOE from 1970-2010, increased by almost 100%.
The total number of students enrolling in public school from 1970-2010, increased by approximately 10%.
The passing rate for reading, math, and science, from 2010-1970, HAS REMAINED THE SAME OR DECREASED.
*I have a proposal for the only two posters (JM, TSC), I have seen on here complaining about President Trump eliminating the DOE. I want to make this a similar type of proposal as the DOE has with the American taxpayers.
Give me $20 every month for 6 months and I’ll do absolutely nothing for you. After 6 months, increase it 200%, to $60 a month, I’ll hire another employee, and I’ll still continue to do nothing for you.
Now, make that make sense. Thats the DOE.
Steve Bash on X: “@RickyDoggin The Department of Education is a complete failure… …benefiting all involved, EXCLUDING STUDENTS !!! All the money… Zero benefit for kids https://t.co/t4gcbKRhwU” / X
Thanks for sharing, MARK.
There are many theories and writings on public education. Some of them are negative. We all know that the elites don’t give a damn about the common people, especially when it comes to their educational attainment. They want a scapegoat so they criticize the U.S. Department of Education.
DOE is an abject failure, YOU are a product John.
This approach results in dumb students and fat teachers unions.
Teachers unions train no teachers, they write no curricula. Teachers unions fight strenuously to avoid any accountability or performance standards for teachers. And yet, we permit them almost absolute control, via temper tantrum negotiating tactics, over the education system. Democrats not only accept it, they rabidly support it because of the money trail.
Very good points.
Nicely stated.
Strength and Honor, Caesar!
Now Marchetti and White have to figure in the lost revenue from the Feds into accelerated tax increases for their constituent bitches. Cuz they already be saying ain’t no place to cut in Pittsfield. No waste, no fraud and no excessive gratuitous expenditures ya know..and don’t be pushing for no extra sets of eyes on the budget like forensic audits please. We don’t believe in that outside scrutiny bullshit but thank you anyway.
I predict that the 2-Pete’s Pittsfield politics f.y. 2026 municipal budget will increase city/school spending by 8 percent starting on July 01, 2025.
Hey Melle I was at the VA hospital in Boston today and saw a vet there working with no legs. This guy had no legs and could work but Army Sgt’s yelling at you caused you that much PTSD that you can’t work at all? Your honorary discharge from the army is the equivalent of Bill Cosby’s honorary phd degree from Harvard. You quit on your soldiers and life itself. Get off your ass and go work for Christmas sakes.
For many like JM who have been approved for their life time of “crazy checks“, working isn’t on the agenda as long as those “crazy checks” keep rolling in even though many are capable of working, or at least too work to
some degree.
Yeah do something. Sit at the Salvation Army Kettle or something.
Some more DOE fun facts. 280 Billion dollar budget only 70 Billion goes to the children. 1979 US was #1 in education, now 29th or higher depending on source. Thanks Dan for informing people with facts. Unfortunately the rag known as The Eagle never will. Union boot lickers!
Democrats fund huge amounts of education money “for the children.” Teachers unions siphon as much of that money off as possible so that they can pour money into Democrat campaign coffers so that Democrats will vote for increases in education spending so that teachers unions can siphon more cash into Democrat campaign coffers so that Democrats will increase education spending . . .
Yes, OPIE, and before they give wads of cash to the Dumbocrats, they give themselves huge pay raises.
Willie Sutton’s law: Follow the money……
It goes back to Act Blue/Democrats.
Lieawatha Warren just begged for money for CA fire victims, it was a scam to fund Act Blue.
Warren should be prosecuted for that. Can you hear us Noem?
Bravo Dan, great editorial. Goodbye DOE!
Perhaps the states taking over this role may be seen as a step forward.
However, here in MA, home of Edward Kennedy Mr. No-Child-Left-Behind, the outlook is not so good. The Demonrat party runs the state, and therefore the outlook for an improvement in education might be a pipe dream. Remember failed DA Harrington’s push to “end the school to prison pipeline” which basically resulted in non-disciplinary action for black students? The state education boneheads can’t keep up with the rapidly disintegrating stats on public schooling – otherwise the Pittsfield School District would’ve been taken over by the state for failure to meet their standards. Easy enough for schools to manipulate their own data in the positive. Many Springfield-area schools (in pockets of mainly conservative-minded residents) are actually doing a great job. There are some losers like Holyoke. Berkshire County has way too many radical-libs so the possibility of your schools improving is a longshot!

Thanks FRITZ.
Does everybody remember when Tricia Farley-Country Buffet (d-illegal aliens), told voters that the bill she sponsored to give illegal aliens a driver’s license, The Work and Family Mobility Act, was so illegal aliens could feel safe from the police when they were traveling to the doctor’s office, work, or going to the grocery store? She even went a step further and told us all, “Chief Wynn says it’s safe.”
I’m curious if TFCB would care to explain this?
https://x.com/AntiWuCoalition/status/1902402106042036713
It’s a picture of an illegal alien convicted of manslaughter in Brazil, caught by federal authorities.
*Guess what he was doing just before he got caught?
*If you guessed “driving a vehicle,” you won the prize of the day.
So, the next time you see Tricia, thank her for not giving two $hits about her constituents. She’d rather carry the dirty jockstraps of her Boston masters and toss garbage out like this:

Credit where credit is due man. Marchetti posed for more pictures today with the opening of a new vibrant economic engine business that does eyebrows. You heard it right they will make your eyebrows look pretty and they are right on North street. How awesome is that taxpayers. The mayor really is working hard after all.
Not sure if they got the usual tax breaks or not but I am just so damn excited. New business right on North street. Thanks Pete and you deserve a peoples proclamation. I don’t personally have that kind of cash for stuff like face prettying and all because of all the high inflation and buy food and pay taxes but I hope they do well and I will be checking out Pete Whites eyebrows at the next city council meeting for sure.
Wicked, GEORGE!!
He’ll get the Voltron cut
So he and all his butt buddies can look purdy!
It’s a tattoo parlor for brown people and white people who overly tan themselves looking for a baby daddy. How many other tattoo parlors got the same treatment in the city. In Lumpy’s defense he looks like he’d rather be anywhere else
Personally they should set up an ICE booth right in front of it. Watch Michael “I haven’t seen my feet in years” Hitchcock throw his weight around.
He already screwed up King Kone, we go to Krispy Kreme now, the ice cream is lighter
They need to bust up the unions too, especially here in MA. They are the reason LAdyzman and everyone else are on paid administration leave
Teachers unions never have to answer to, or negotiate with us, the underwriters of their paychecks with our taxes. Instead, they deal with school boards and bureaucrats, whose number one goal is to keep the money tap open and flowing. A quality education isn’t even on their radar. The people directly effected by poor performance of schools/teachers, parents and their children, are completely shut out of the
process.
The Pittsfield proposal for a new elementary school that has 2 Principals, drives home your point. They only care about expanding their workforce.
Psychotropic Pittsfield is unable or unwilling to police itself, so let’s sit back and watch Tump’s USAs and AUSAs, ICE, and other federal agencies do it for them.
Speaking of ICE

Tricia Farley-Bouvier is saying that poor children are now without one of their parents because one was taken away by ICE. Since ICE is just going after criminals right now Tricia, that child will be safer with just the one parent. Some kids had both parents taken according to Trish, but the Berkshire Eagle said they can’t verify what Tricia is saying. Tricia wants to make clear that no state or local police were involved with ICE arrests. Does that really make us feel better? Our state and local police aren’t going after criminals? Isn’t that their job? Remember when government used to try to protect American citizens and not bring in criminals from other countries?
It’s just like when Tom Homan schooled AOC about “family separation.”
As Tom Homan said here, “if I get arrested for a DUI and have a child in the car with me, I’ll be separated from the child.”
A criminal is a criminal. Being in the USA illegally is a crime.
Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan and AOC Clash Over Family Separations at Heated Hearing
***The only time I’ve ever seen Tricia Farley-Country Buffet (d-illegal aliens), this worked up about something was the time she almost twisted her ankle walking in the parking lot to get served one last time before The Country Buffet shuttered its doors.
Useful article
You learn about Leon and his role in the issue
You learn where Police Chirf and Sheriif stand.
You learn how any illegals have been settled in PBitchfield.
You might ask how much Leon hauled in.
“A Pine Street resident, who asked not to be named, said she has seen fewer people coming out of their houses in the past month, likely “because they’re afraid” of immigration enforcement. She noted the typically busy and diverse neighborhood has been much quieter; she used to see more people walking their kids to school every day“
You also learn the FEDS do not trust the Mayor. They got his number.
Good insight Dan, today is the day! Think Bill Bennett said it best ” I’ll go you one better bring the Department of Education back to the people”. Democrats are the party of hate ( Trump) and liars of late what do they stand for. The American way is not government can solve all of our problem. Where are the risk takers, or the leaders that can stand for something.
It’s time for the city of Pittsfield to stop funding the schools and let the school department deal with a budget of solely chapter 70 funding. Currently the residents are funding the school an additional 18 million dollars on top of chapter 70 funds from the state. This will certainly force a consolidation of schools and eliminating unnecessary positions especially in administration.
Trump loves America. What a great dictatorship.
What is the Ward Six eviormebtal city councilor going to do about the development proposed on outer Churchill Street.
As someone else has said,
“What authoritarian dictatorship has ever advocated for a SMALLER
government?”
The numer 1 reason Russia was losing to Ukraine is the Oligarchs in Russia had turned the military budget into a cash machine that left the military unable to get
to Kiev in 4 days that Trump called a genius plan to invade the now honest government of Zelenskyy….Russia has a GDP of 2 trillion compared to Americas 30 trillion. The previos President of Ukraine was the Putin equivalent of Trump. Now you know why Putin invaded.
When was Russia losing to Ukraine? I recall the month the war redefined from an offensive invasion to trench warfare and artillary. Avantage: Russia with 20K forever stocked artillary pieces and a daily stockpile of 200,000 -500,000 shells, plus double trench lines 10 miles separated by tank dragon teeth, anti-tank ditches, and mines.
That is when the front became an amorphous blob oozing westwards. I don’t have to go there to understand that war is hell. Maybe you do.

THE MARXISTS ARE OUT IN FULL FORCE TO KILL MARCHETTI’S ANTI-PANHANDLING BILL
Does that bill include gay panhandlers as well?
By the way is it panhandling if you are a millionaire business owner and you ask for special tax cuts for your business even though your business will be making you more millions?
Should senior citizens on fixed incomes be expected to pay the same rate as people rolling in dough? And if so why?
Nothing to do with panhandling. Any human on a median strip or on the side of the road shall be arrested. That includes trans, gay , heterosexual, firemen, high school students, people holding political signs and of course those furniture stores that go out of business ever year. Not that complicated, they don’t belong there. Anyone trying to feel better about their self, donate to the many non profits in the area. Nuff Sid.
Isn’t the problem that the panhandlers are able to work, and that they are likely part of a ring?
