(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY JULY 14, 2025) — The recent North Street stabbing, the regular sound of West Side gun play, the whitewash of a huge school department scandal that shows signs of still continuing, the disappearance of the mayor, the ineffectualness of the council, the corruption of the school committee, and the continuing popularity of hip hop has left THE PLANET in a poetic frame:
THE TAXPAYER’S VISION
I
Not only around Bitchfield government
Doth heaven with all its splendor shun;
Daily, with pols that cringe and plot,
Taxpayers die and know it not.
II
Our their solvency bend the skies
Against Lumpy and Voltron’s traitor lies.
Their hot air utters prophecies: with faint hearts
Honest citizens sweat and strive,
Their arms outstretched, the cross’ wood
Awaits with political corruption.
III
And to our city’s drowsy blood,
Heard faint the inspiring sea.
The city gets its price for what the city “gives”.
The beggar is taxed for a corner to die in.
They make you pay for the graves you lie in.
Each ounce of trash costs its pound of gold.
At the politician’s booth are all things sold.
But no price can they set on the lavish summer.
July may be had by the poorest comer.

Surprised at that considering last meeting only 6 of the 11 clowns showed up to vote for 2 measures. It’s good work if you can get it. You’d think one of the intersection beggars would run for one of those seats.
I was trying to figure out who/what is the worst in Pittsfield politics.
I thought of the openly gay Mayor Peter Marchetti, the weird Voltron City Council President Pete White, the Synthetic School Committee Chairman Dr. Bill Cameron, the Shoe-Gum Sara Hathaway, the do-nothing State Rep. Tricia “F-CB”, the rubber stamp State Senator Paul “Marxism”, the PAC Man U.S. Rep. Richie Neal, the Maryland U.S. Senator Ed Markey, the anti-Trump U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, the misguided Governor Maura Healey….
I thought of the corrupt Pittsfield City Hall, the secretive Boston Statehouse, the over $37 trillion in national debt Swamp.
Then I realized that the fictional Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski family are dutifully paying their taxes in return for….(I won’t write it)….
Interesting thought but the truth seems to be most people are happy with the way things are because like I said no one is running to take these people out it’s wild to me

Come on Dan, have you seen the belly on Mayor Lumpy? Nothing disappearing about him judging by that. Also do you thin the Clowncil President Voltron Porkchop is dating a transgender to remain with the in crowd? Take a close look.
Also will Danielle Funn run to the defense of the houseless mad stabber? Will she share her GoFundMe? Will Lazy Eye Gary film the indictment? So many questions.
Gone are the days of the Greg Maddux and others playing for the Pittsfield Cubs. The sounds of a baseball game being played has been replaced by “diversity and inclusion,” which usually translates to gunplay.
A couple of shootings and a stabbing over the weekend have become common place in Bitchfield. I remember when a shooting would be the top story in the Eagle for a few days. Now, it’s a side story on the second page of the local section. Just like they do in big cities where crime is commonplace, and people almost expect it to happen. But it Bitchfield?
I have to give credit, where credit is due to the two architects of the accelerated destruction of Picklefield/Bitchfield:

Great point about the grant money, MARK. THE PLANET has been on that one for decades, when we first discovered it. The difference now is that the grant money comes with much more onerous conditions. Now, it includes the city accepting vast numbers of the “armies of the road” from other communities (most of the east of 495). These include the homeless, drug addicted, mentally ill, and the like. “Right to shelter”= Yes, you named the culprits, but I would also throw in Lumpy.
There should NOT be an Underclass population in the first place.
Pittsfield should NOT have to fill its inner-city with them in return for state government grant funds because it is driving away private investments while making the 90 day grace period Mayor look anything but graceful in his “War against the Underclass’ panhandlers and homeless residents with no other place to go.

Instead of writing endlessly about Lumpy’s 90-day grace period, how about picking up a history book and learning a little bit about communism.

I support targeted assistance programs to give a hand-up, not a hand-out, to the Underclass population.

I dislike Communism because it has seen the most amount of mass deaths in the hundreds of millions of innocent people over the past 100 years. Please note that I also dislike Fascism, which saw the tragic Holocaust less than 100 years ago.
When Karl Marx wrote his essays on Communism, the U.S.A. still had legalized Slavery. Let us NOT forget our history, and that it was unjust across the board in the 19th Century.
I don’t want any kind of Utopian governmental order, but I do support Democracy, the Rule of Law, respect for Human Rights, and stopping corrupt career politicians from taking away our pursuit of the American Dream for their selfish ends of MONEY and POWER for themselves, while we lose our FREE SPEECH voices in the government and society.

Democrats have an amazing brochure they put out in every election cycle for the underclass. Government will turn your vote into wealth and prosperity. The reality is bondage and poverty for ages now…
Excellent poem Dan. It really sums up the situation in Pittsfield. Things don’t change because too many people are reaping benefits from this corrupt system. Even a great candidate would face many obstacles, but somebody has to take the first step. I haven’t heard anything from Ciara Batory. I hope that at least she is still running for a school committee position and hasn’t been disillusioned by all of the roadblocks that have prevented the release of the PHS investigation report.
I find it mind boggling no matter how badly Bitchfield’s current and former politicians have governed Bitchfield they keep being chosen to hold office or lead in some capacity that has input on its citizens. But it’s always the same majority that votes them in, and it appears to me it’s because Bitchfield is filled with those who feed at the government feeding troughs, and really don’t care what the costs may be as long as their feeding bag isn’t taken away..

Thanks for the comment. Let me propose a thought experiment. Try to forget the “right/wrong” aspect of the two proposes the mayor put forward. Factually, the mayor put forth two proposal: one to regulate panhandling, the other homelessness. We can assume from that he believed in the sagacity of both. So what does he do He backs down on both. Lumpy is the typical spineless, out-of-touch politician. If you believe in a measure you as executive put forward, you FIGHT for it. Instead, we get limp biscuit. Wet dishrag.
Wet dishrag is perfect word for him. For some reason he is petrified to do his job. Does he ever have a department head meeting to see if his department heads are doing their jobs? Thought it was quite strange that he did not make one change in department heads when he was elected. Also, City Council, School Committee and City Hall is full of the LBGTQIA+ members who constantly spend their time complaining of all the “unfairness” they are supposedly receiving. When I see all the latest attendees of the City Council meetings, can’t help but wonder how many of them have a job, pay taxes in Pittsfield, or are they all receiving government payouts, which us taxpayers are also paying the tab.
Did PPD detectives finally find the missing key to the bathroom that has been locked for years or was ARPA money finally released to them so they could call a locksmith or… Did Garry Munn crack the code?

So were their two shootings in Pittsfield a week ago or not? It either happened or did not but if it did why did the newspaper allude to it and then not give any details veering off on another subject?
Did the mayor or Downtown Inc. kibosh the story because it is the height of tourist season and they do not want actual danger levels made public? Were they disappointed that the shooters were not homeless folk they could blame it on?
I bet Pete White knows what goes on and since he is the first to read this blog every morning perhaps he will update us. He is council VP after all and I bet he cares about not hiding stuff right? Whats going on Pete? A nothing burger story or a Big Mac nobody wants to discuss? You decide.
