THE PLANET had to laugh when attempting to conduct a level-headed chat with a protester, who spoke prose poems about the “grassroots nature” of the event. Then we had to point out the big bux that made the super-funded silliness happen.

Truth is, it began at the top with a handful of sore losers from 2024, who blew the piper’s horn (figuratively, of course, in most cases) and knew the hip-mo-tized millions would follow, unquestioningly.
The “grassroots” demonstrations cost countless millions, plus these hidden costs:
- Security
- Deployment of law enforcement
- Cleanup costs
- Restoration costs for property damage
- Local business losses because of disruption
- Legal fees
- Settlements from lawsuits
What you won’t read about are the rallies cities canceled because of previous violence.

THE PLANET couldn’t help but notice iBerkshires’ advance story on the No Kings rally. It contained this gem:
Youth advocate Shirley Edgerton addressed young people, explaining, “We need you, and we fight for you,” because they are our future.
“Let us just imagine what is going on now: The systematic demise of the educational system, starting with Head Start. What barriers and challenges are we putting in place for our future leaders? Too many. Too many challenges, too many barriers, and hell no,” she said.
“K through 12. What compromises are we creating for our students? The demise of special education. Where’s the equity there? Higher education. We are putting our young people on a trajectory where they will not be able to realize their greatness. This we cannot stand for.”
You remember Shirley Edgerton, the “cultural competency” miner who has chiseled the public treasury out of Scrooge McDuck piles of dough. It’s the land of milk and honey for Shirl, and judging by the looks of things, she hasn’t missed too many meals.
Okay, Shirl, let us follow your advice and “imagine what is going on now.” The “systematic decline of the educational system” was caused by the phonies and fakes advocated by your likes to run the city’s schools, administrators such as the Dancing Dean, now sitting this one out on federal charges of running a massive drug operation while employed as “Dean of Students” at PHS. We won’t bother to rehash the rest (Esko, Curtis, Behnke, Shepherd, etc. ad infinitum, ad nauseam) who have either fled the sinking ship or remain in hiding hoping to ride out the inevitable next scandal.

Shirl talks of “the demise of special education.” Yeah, that’s why Bitchfield spends multimillions on Spec Ed. “We are putting our young people on a trajectory where they will not be able to realize their greatness,” she intones. We agree, and if you want to know who to blame, look in the mirror.
By the way, city per-pupil expenses amounted to $22,058.26/per. Keep in mind that’s a FY2023 figure, the latest available on the state DOE website. Moreover, that figure does not include the costs of busing, maintenance, or health insurance. The real figure, we guess, easily tops $30,000/yr.

$22,000 per student and climbing annually in Pittsfield for a level five or below education. A school system openly acknowledging that they will not tell taxpayers the results of an investigation involving their children’s welfare in their schools even though they paid for it and the state and all media demanded it. Just how bad it must have been for it to still be hidden is anyone’s guess but apparently it was enough for a wholesale teacher exodus.
Recently revealed that the city has by far the worst pupil attendance record in the commonwealth. Every year we think, well it cannot get any worse but then somehow it does and yet the same core people stay in charge. I repeat, the same people stay in charge! What does that say? Take it from there when deciding how important your child’s education is to you and him or her.

The King’s rallies are mostly comprised of elderly people. The Democrat party isn’t getting any new participants especially younger people. Many of the young are getting wise to what is being done to them in the school system and they are not happy about the Communist and Trans mania indoctrination. New York young people, however, are not getting the message and they continue to support Mamdani for mayor. At the No Kings Protest at the Berkshire Common on Saturday, they “silenced” the fact that a group of juveniles on dirt bikes rode through the crowd injuring quite a few attendees whom required visits to the emergency room. One little girl ended up with a fractured arm. Taxpayers pay for security for these protests, where was the security to stop these dirt bikes? Of course the Administration doesn’t want people to know about this.
Mayor Lumpy said he doesn’t like social media. You would think by now he would realize he can’t hide the truth from taxpayers.

A news reporter questioned the No Kings Rally attendees and half of them had no idea why they were there except that CNN needed some warm bodies and pleaded with people to attend. The other half wanted to promote violence. One woman keep making shooting motions to her neck to mock Charlie Kirk being killed. She turned out to be an elementary school teacher. Can you imagine this woman teaching young children? One guy said he would kill Trump government officials if he had the chance. Another man was telling everyone to use violence against the fascists.
I had to drive down First Street Saturday PM. Those I observed at The Common seemed to behave themselves and didn’t block the street.
They had PPD watching things, and doing traffic at the crosswalk by the church. Would have saved 10 minutes taking 2nd or North Streets.
I’m OK with peaceful assembly and addressing grievances as a right of The People/US Citizens, enumerated in The Constitution/Bill of Rights
