POLICE NEED HELP IN IDENTIFYING VEHICLE IN FATAL HIT-AND-RUN … THE PLANET HAS PHOTOS

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE SATURDAY-SUNDAY FEB. 14-5) — THE PLANET has received additional information about the vehicle believed to be involved in the fatal hit-and-run incident that took place atop about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10. Here is the initial press release:
The vehicle in question is believed to be a Honda or Toyota. The PPD said the vehicle is blue in color with black wheels. Those are new details, and the department has asked THE PLANET to share that information with our readership. They also supplied two photos. The pictures look like screen grabs from security cameras, and while they are not the best quality, they do give an idea of the vehicle’s shape and color.
To our eyes, it looks like a sedan. The car can be seen in the upper portion of the photos, running on a downward diagonal from left to right. The illuminated red tail lens can easily be identified. If anyone has information about such a vehicle, they should share it with law enforcement.

The victim in Tuesday’s fatal hit and run has been identified as William S. Colbert of Pittsfield (69 years old). Colbert was struck by a car on Tuesday evening in the Linden Street/Francis Avenue area of Pittsfield. After being struck, he became trapped under the vehicle and was dragged a lengthy distance, ultimately coming to rest on the road around 1350 West Housatonic Street. The driver fled the scene.
Pittsfield Police are actively seeking information about the incident. Police believe the vehicle may have traveled on Linden Street, Robbins Avenue, Daniels Avenue, Columbus Avenue, Onota Street, South Merriam Street and West Housatonic Street. The incident is believed to have occurred around 11:33 PM to 11:49 PM.
Information possibly related to the event including any footage from security systems can be forwarded to the following emails (dhallas@cityofuittsfield.org or adayton@cityofpittsfield.org) or arrangements can be made for it to be picked up. Information can be forwarded to Officer Anthony Dayton at (413)-448-9700 Ext. 543 or Seargeant David Hallas at Ext. 560.

It is a tragedy that a Senior Citizen man was dragged for miles to his death on Pittsfield’s roads, while the driver decided to hit-and-run.
Inner-city Pittsfield is a scary place that most people avoid, especially after-hours. Since at least 1980, violent crime rates in Pittsfield more than doubled the statewide average in Massachusetts.
In other news, PAC Man Richie Neal said that he is running for his “one-millionth-term” in U.S. Congress. He also called U.S. A.G. Pam Bondi’s behavior before U.S. Congress “reprehensible” in relation the her handling of the Epstein Files.

What is reprehensible is that Jeffrey Epstein was an alleged Israeli-American SPY who was bankrolled by the likes of Israel and Russia and related spy agencies to place wealthy and powerful men, including U.S. Presidents, in compromising situations to influence them with money and blackmail them with his sex trafficking ring of girls as young as 9 years old.
Political games should be called out for what they are instead of PAC Man Richie Neal myopically criticizing the U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi’s conflictual reactions to the U.S. Congress’ questioning of her public record of the carefully edited release of the Epstein Files.
The Jeffrey Epstein story was a political game of Chess by an alleged SPY for Israel and Russia, et al, who is said to have committed suicide in his jail cell, but he may have been murdered due to all of the wealthy and powerful men that he entrapped over the years. Moreover, Jeffrey Epstein may still be alive and living in either Israel or Russia or in another location whereby he would be heavily guarded because he is an alleged SPY.
I, Jon Melle, have been the victim of political chess games in my native hometown of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, but my most recent political letter was not published this past week on the PlanetValenti.com blog because Nuciforo walks on water in Boston and Pittsfield alike. It is the perfect illustration of The Twilight Zone.
I wish that the political chess games and the financial shell games that happens in politics did NOT go over most people’s heads. I have no real voice. All of the victims of Epstein have no real voice either. We are NOT stupid. We know that manipulations happen in politics.

Wasn’t there another leaving the scene near that location not to long ago? Did the driver get arrested ? Leaving a crash scene is probably the worst infraction on roads.
Yes, this one is particularly heinous.
As heinous as the guy and his wife from Williamstown who mowed down the Leclaire woman, drove off and hid. He lied about thinking it was a deer, later changed his mind and said the damage to his car came from rocks blasted in New Ashford. He went to trial and got off scot-free; the victim rotted brain dead for years after that in a hospital bed.
Friendly jury perhaps.
As for the Nilan thing, it’s hugely fortunate he woke up and got out of there before the cleanup crew arrived.

Hopefully who ever did this to the poor soul will get the harshest punishment possible! In a progressive justice system like MA, I have my doubts. Harrington would have with her social justice platform recommended the driver retaking drivers education and have the poor guy”s estate pay for any damages the driver has to the under carriage of his car.

You lose some credibility here.
Thompson case was an example of the horrible misapplication of prosecution by the Harrington office. The prosecutor presented a retinue of witnesses who didn’t see so much as a shred of the accident. One was barbequeing in the backyard when he heard it. The other was on a porch completely screened off. Yet they testified to how the accident unfolded.
He was innocent, the deceased was drunk – his EtOH level was taken post mortem. He T-Boned the car on the passenger side hitting square on the passenger wheel well. The motorcycle tire imprinted itself clearly on the wheel, which caved in completely. The car’s tire imprinted itself clearly on the motorcycle’s front fender. So, not surprisingly, the car wound up in the opposite lane. Also, JT did not flee the scene. He remained on site until dismissed by the North Adams police.
You want to talk about abuse by law enforcement – you should have heard the State’s forensic expert. He tried to convince the jury it was a front end accident in spite of NO damage to the front end.
Maybe JT was someone’s favorite, but he was also innocent. And he was certainly targeted by Harrington who, typically, did not show up to court to face him eye to eye.

I don’t understand all of the criticisms of former Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington’s 1-term, 4 years tenure from 2019 – 2022 because Pittsfield’s crime statistics and prosecutions have been a severe problem since at least the year 1980, which is over 45 years ago now in mid-February 2026.
In the mid-1980’s, the D.A.’s Office FRAMED the late Bernard Baran. They hid audio tape recordings of very young children saying that Bernard Baran did not sexually exploit him. They used homophobic tactics against Bernard Baran, who sat in a Massachusetts State Prison for over 2 decades of his adult life whereby he was raped 4 times until D.A. David Capeless released the hidden exculpatory evidenced to the Massachusetts Appeals Court that set him free prior to Bernard Baran’s death at 49 in 2014.
That is the perfect illustration of EVIL in the LAW. I point out that all of the other Berkshire County D.A.’s, retired Judge Dan Ford, former Berkshire County Sheriff (the late-) Carmen C. Massimiano, Jr., and others like them, were also controversial over the past decades, too.
I know all about the above “St. Joe’s High School Catholic Good Old BOYS clique” in Pittsfield politics’ criminal justice network, and how some of them were alleged sexual deviants, pedophiles, and homosexuals who were said to live double lives with their respective wives who gave them the appearance of being heterosexual family men. There were also allegations of Anti-Semitism against some of them, such as the aforementioned Dan Ford from many years ago.
Pittsfield politics other named is RETRIBUTION. The “All-in-the-Family” state and local politicians are tribal. I experienced it myself over the past close to 30 years of my adult life of 50.5 years.
I was told that my Enemy #1 mockingly laughs at me, Jon Melle, when people mention me to him. He turns 62 on February 26th, 2026, and I will raise my 2 middle fingers up in the air 11 days from now. I also do NOT rule out suing him for millions of dollars in damages that he has caused me in my adult life.
I concede that D.A. Andrea Harrington did NOT change things for the better in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, but I also point out that none of the other Berkshire County D.A.’s were effective either over the past 4.5 decades.
I understand that D.A. Andrea Harrington was a progressive prosecutor who stood for restorative justice principles. I understand that her office faced legitimate criticisms from legal professionals. I acknowledge that she had controversial actions. I never agued that she was perfect.
Andrea Harrington relocated to the mid-west region of the U.S.A. a few years ago. Close to 22 years ago, I relocated to southern New Hampshire. I tried to stand up to the close-knit politicians in Pittsfield when I was a young man, but I was mistreated in Pittsfield politics similar to Andrea Harrington.
I know a few people who live near me in New Hampshire who once lived in Pittsfield. They told me that Pittsfield has insider cliques, and they have no lives other than to plot against and abuse innocent people and their families. They told me that it is NOT like that where we live in NH.
I respect Charles Ivar Kronick, and I enjoy reading his posts even though we have different political views. I saw how he was mistreated in his 1-term, 2 years as a Ward 2 Pittsfield City Councilor a few years ago.
I know that Earl and the 2-Pete’s Pittsfield politics refuse to speak with blogger Dan Valenti because he writes about how corrupt and misguided they are running the City of Pittsfield. I hope that blogger Dan Valenti really targets them in 2026.
I have had political disagreements with blogger Dan Valenti, including about our political views of former D.A. Andrea Harrington, but I support his journalism and blogging about the beautiful Berkshires and beyond.

I’m up for debating, but only if you agree to use proper names I have no idea what case you are describing above. Sounds like Nilan, which is hard to debate anyway unless you have a set of boots to lick.
Who is Distracted Attorney? Where does a landlord fit in. How did the grizzly triple homicide connect to either Thompson or Nilan?
What badge am I showing? I sat on the jury and heard the entire case by both prosecution and defense. It was comprehensive – 32 hours of evidence and testimony. I’m on firm ground given the facts of the case encompass exactly 3 seconds of life.
The Nilan girl had no clue a body was on her car windshield and the case was absolved as far as any wrong doing.
No so, in a 1,001 ways.
She went to the pub to ask for help after the hit.
His head went through her windshield, so I think she got a good look.
