The victim in Tuesday’s fatal hit and run has been identified as William S. Colbert of Pittsfield (69 years old). Mr. Colbert was struck by a car on Tuesday evening in the Linden Street/Francis Avenue area of Pittsfield. After being struck, he became trapped under the vehicle and was dragged a lengthy distance, ultimately coming to rest on the road around 1350 West Housatonic Street. The driver fled the scene.
Pittsfield Police are actively seeking information about the incident. Police believe the vehicle may have traveled on Linden Street, Robbins Avenue, Daniels Avenue, Columbus Avenue, Onota Street, South Merriam Street and West Housatonic Street. The incident is believed to have occurred around 11:33 PM to 11:49 PM.
Information possibly related to the event including any footage from security systems can be forwarded to the following emails (dhallas@cityofuittsfield.org or adayton@cityofpittsfield.org) or arrangements can be made for it to be picked up. Just in the short time I attempted to watch the City Clownsil last night, my blood pressure went up, and I decided to change the channel. Several City Councillors tried to get some answers from Mayor Lumpy, his answer, “I don’t know”, not even an offer to check and get back to you. As Mayor Lumpy responded he had his typical snarky voice when anyone questions his authority. Guess he hasn’t learned anything from the Pittsfield Coop Victoria May debacle.
Many budgetary questions were also asked by the councilors, yet Bowtie Kerwood was no where to be found. Why? It should be mandatory that ALL department heads should attend these meetings. The councilors are representing the taxpayers, the very taxpayers that are paying the salaries of these uninformed and missing employees.
Lumpy, as he has stated many times,,, the first gay mayor, needs to grow a set and start doing his job. The City is a mess.

I am unable to read The Berkshire Eagle online web-page beyond the headlines due to the pay-wall. I am able to read the posts on this blog (PlanetValenti).
All of the taxpayer dollars being spent on illegal immigrants/criminal aliens is difficult for me to read about, as I am a disabled Veteran who served honorably. Pittsfield, which is my native hometown, has a couple hundred homeless residents, but the state government is not doing enough to provide targeted assistance to the underclass residents in need who are citizens.
The state government in Boston is short-changing state administered, federal aid (State Aid) funding to cities and towns, they cut state funding for social services by hundreds of millions of dollars, and the state lawmakers are unproductive. Please NOTE that this was prior to Trump’s federal funding to cuts in 2025 – early-2026.
As a PHS alumnus (Class of 1993), it is difficult for me to read about all of the recent legal and ongoing maintenance problems there, as well as at the THS maintenance problems. Pittsfield public schools are rated Level 5 (failed), Group 11 (underclass), with 679 students per academic year who choice out to neighboring public school districts.
Earl and the 2-Pete’s Pittsfield politics plan to spend tens of millions of dollars on the Wahconah Park boondoggle, the city’s wastewater plant boondoggles, and $100 million on a proposed new public school building.
In a couple of months, Earl and the 2-Pete’s Pittsfield politics will propose their new municipal operating budget that will break new records on spending taxpayer dollars in fiscal year 2027 that runs from July 01, 2026 – June 30, 2027.
I read that the Pittsfield City Councilors are asking questions about Pittsfield’s municipal finances, but Mayor Peter Marchetti kept on replying by saying, “I don’t know”, while Kufflinks (Matt Kerwood) did not attend the 02/10/2026 Pittsfield City Council meeting.
Most of Pittsfield’s residential homeowners are older and live on fixed-incomes who cannot afford to pay for Boston’s under-funding of state aid, cuts to social services funding, and the do-nothings named State Senator Paul Mark, and State Representatives Leigh Davis, John Barrett III, and Tricia Farley-Bouvier.
Pittsfield’s small businesses face the 2nd highest commercial tax rate in Massachusetts closely behind Holyoke. There are around 15 empty storefronts on North Street’s so-called small business district.
Tens of thousands of people have moved away from Pittsfield over the past over 50 years. Hundreds of businesses have closed or moved out of Pittsfield, too. Thousands of living wage jobs have been lost in Pittsfield, and once they are gone, they are NOT coming back to Pittsfield in our lifetimes.
Given all of the aforementioned facts, why are voters re-electing the same old career politicians in Pittsfield?
