PLANET VALENTI News and Commentary

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, TUESDAY, NOV. 4, 2014) — Today we keep the message simple. It is election day. Get out and vote. Before that, though, let us shout a quick thanks to supercitizen Terry Kinnas for doing a great job guest-hosting PLANET VALENTI TELEVISION. We heard from a number of folks who enjoyed seeing a different side of TK on PV-TV. His “guest,” Minion Dave, proved to be a gas. We shall have them back.

THE PLANET hesitates to call voting your “duty” or “civic obligation.” Not voting is as much an option as casting a ballot, and in fact, the vast majority prefer this option. Some do not vote out of principle. They don’t vote the way they wouldn’t loot a store even if the opportunity presented itself. It doesn’t feel right and by doing it, you not only engage in wrong-doing but advance it. Conscientious non-voters have concluded the system is rigged against them and that by voting participate in and advance the evils so obvious in what masquerades as “participatory government.” THE PLANET can live with, accept, and respect that type of non-voter.

Democracy Demand Intelligence

The others do not vote because they are too lazy, ignorant, stupid, politically naive, myopic, or cued in on Honey Boo-Boo‘s mother rather than the issues of the day. Actually, THE PLANET would prefer that these people do not vote at all. Democracy demands intelligence from the electorate, and that commodity has been long gone from the body politick.

We realize, of course, that this situation plays right into the hands of candidates and their entourages of Special Interests, like the teachers who signed the bulk letter to the editor lecturing us of the “need” for a needless $51 million renovation of Monument Mountain High School. You will see this phenomenon play out next year in Pittsfield’s municipal election. The Status Quo will try to suppress voting to award greater proportionate weight to the votes they can control — similar to what happened with the “vote” to switch health insurance for city workers from the cost-saving GIC to the money-eating Blue Cross-Blue Shield.

THE PLANET is sorry to say this, but the municipal election has turned into a pool of weighted votes. All votes are not equal, and one person = one vote does not apply. This became true the moment bad government delivered on its promise to drive the casual (but informed) voter away from the ballot.

How to Repair a Broken System

Traditional wisdon, for example, will say you can’t win in Pittsfield without the teachers’ union vote. Pander to that constituency and you have a built-in advantage. In 2015, however, “traditional wisdom” may be thrown out the window. If there is a candidate who enters the race from the outside, who is well-funded, well organized, intelligent, creative, and brings an artistic sensibility to a relentless “scorched earth” campaign style, all bets are off.

We’re not talking about “token opposition.” You’ve seen those candidates come and go. They may have ideas but they don’t have money or organization. If, however, an outsider of intelligence, funding, and organization gets involved … well, that would be an fun thing to witness.

THE PLANET says fun because under such a scenario, we might well revive “democracy” (from the Greek, “demos” [people) and “krasis” [power] — literally “power to the people”).  Such a candidate would give a broken system its fix: Energize the electorate and give The Suits the worst nightmare of their collective life (the only life “they” live).

What are the odds of such a candidate emerging? THE PLANET shall let you ponder.

Obfuscation on THS ‘Weapon’ Incident … or … ‘The Little Girl’ Writes

Regarding the “weapon” incident Thursday at Taconic High School, THE PLANET has confirmed what Payroll Patriot first reported on this website:

* The incident tnvolved two students, not one as initially reported.

* The “weapon” involved was a gun.

* One of the two — not the one on whom the gun was found — had talked on his Facebook page of “shooting up” the school.

Isn’t it interesting, as one of THE PLANET’s commentators noted, that the press release was issued not by the police department but by the mayor’s office. Is the mayor that much a part-timer that he can’t issue a statement under his own name? Was it too much of an embarrassment? The mayor’s woefully inexperienced “director of administrative services” is obviously in way over her head, as has been demonstrated on any number of public actions — including the press release she issued on the THS gun.

Press Release

For Immediate Release

Contact: Julia Sabourin, 499-9322

Date: 10/30/14

Pittsfield Public School families were recently notified of an incident that occurred at Taconic High School this morning. A student was arrested for creating a disturbance at the school due to insubordination. Upon being brought into custody by the police, a search of his property at the police station revealed a weapon. At no point was the weapon made visible to any student or staff member at Taconic[.]

The families “were recently notified.” Why not share the exact time? In matters such as guns and schools, exact times must be part of the public record for many reasons, including legal and liability.

“Creating a disturbance due to insubordination.” — This meaningless phrase provides a textbook example of an incompetent bureaucrat saying something while trying not to say it.

And what are we to make of this linguistic monster, stitched together from dead body parts: “Upon being brought into custody by the police, a search of his property at the police station revealed a weapon.” This would tell us the student had a gun, possibly loaded, on him at all times after the “disturbance” and prior to his entering the police station. Anyone see a horrible lack of security here?

THE PLANET can see why one community leader, who heads a large cultural organization and is involved in other downtown efforts, refers contemptuously to the lightweight Sabourin as “the little girl.”

“The little girl” just got a big pay raise from the $50 grand she had been pulling down. In city government, taxpayers never get what they pay for.

“OPEN THE WINDOW, AUNT MILLIE.”

LOVE TO ALL.

So was this kid riding in the back seat of a police cruiser and had a loaded gun in his possession? Sitting right behind a cop who just undoubtedly disrespected him? I hope not but when I try to put a picture together from Julias story that one comes up.

And so did they just accidentally just stumble upon the only gun in the school? Wow…how lucky was that?

The kid was most likely cuffed with his hands behind his back with the back pack on the cruiser passenger front seat or trunk.

Everyone on planet earth gets 168 hours per week except mayor Dan Bianchi. He gets more time.

He recently stated to the press:

” All I can tell you is, I work at this [the mayor’s job] seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
What I do beyond that, I don’t know how relevant that is”.
-Dan Bianchi 2014

The extra time he gets is devoted to working for Larry Global Montello. Despite Barry Clairmont’s rejected petition to insure a full-time mayor, the final vote to give the mayor a pay raise was unanimous. 3

Leaving this morning from the Masonic temple a man thanked me for voting. I thought to myself no thanks necessary it’s my duty. So I don’t find that offensive.

The question should be where did the gun come from and how did it end up in an unqualified persons possession. See that’s what gun control fails to do. It only effects the people you referenced that are law abiding and wouldn’t loot even if they knew they could get away with it. It does nothing to stop criminals or minors from obtaining weapons.

You will always be voting for the lesser evil no matter who’s on the ballot.

Scott: That is my question also. Who was the owner of the gun and how did he get his hands on it?

What the second guy said was even more disturbing. If I had kids at Taconic, I would be frightened.

If the book isn’t thrown at these two, a safe society doesn’t have a chance.

We may never know if any books are thrown. I am sure Mr. Lockdown wants this to go away as quietly as possible.

Has he got his stuff moved into 100 North st yet? Will he still get a nice Christmas bonus from Global? Will he get a nice Christmas bonus from Scarafoni? How about the Blue Cross folk? Do they give out absentee Christmas bonuses?

Just questions. i don’t mean to imply anything….at all. My mind just wanders sometimes.

How much you wanna bet that metal detectors or terrahertz back-scatter xray machines will be added to the plans for the new high school?

Possibly even teachers or staff assigned to grope the children as they enter the premises.

The release of this by the mayor’s office at a time when he locks down all information tells me he up to something. No, I don’t trust him or any of his underlings.

TheBerkshireEagle just posted an article about a gun incident that happened back in June but making you “think” it just happened. This appears to be a setup. Manipulating public thinking to accept the answer to this problem they are planning.

Just watch if they don’t roll out the answer soon.

Remember, they think you are stupid.

Two points today.

1) Some nations hold the ballot as so sacred that every citizen MUST mark one or face severe penalties. These ballots are so pure and sacred that only one candidate is printed on them so as not to contaminate them with secular thoughts of doubt.

2) Regarding the ‘gun’ incident, an even better report, not from a media perspective but a sociological one, would have been no report at al. Since the CT shooting that was thoroughly depleted by an infestation of reporters flown in from around the nation, school shootings have become more popular, and not just with the media. The best way to stop this madness is to stop reporting on it and let those caught, before the act hopefully, go to their demise with a whimper.

One of the main reasons alot of people don’t vote is because they’ve come to realize how seriously broken the 2 party system has become. You are voting for who you think the lesser of 2 evils are, never for anyone who will actually fix or resolve anything. It’s a completely corrupt system that has no signs of getting better.
A good example is after 8 disastrous years of Pres. Bush, the country thought they’d get change by going in another direction, only to get 8 disastrous years of Obama.
You see, it does not matter which party you vote for – the middle class gets equally screwed by both.
And if Pittsfield ever voted in a fiscally responsible, honest, transparent mayor? That mayor would get swallowed up in all the dishonesty, greed, fear that this political system of ours forces onto anyone in office.

In this unique election, you have the opportunity to end once and for all Martha Milkcarton’s political career.

What more motivation does anyone need?

Except, one could argue that M.M. does less damage to people in higher office than she did as a DA. I’m guessing that as Governor, she would become even more innocuous.

Here’s a good example. I am going to vote for Charlie Baker today. If he becomes our next governor, how much does anyone think he’ll get done when the MA house and senate will still be mostly far left Dems? Answer: next to nothing.
No wonder people are disenfranchised.

Its kind of hard to access a gun that is in a zipped up backpack, in the trunk of a cruiser while handcuffed and seat-belted in the rear cage of a cruiser.

Dan maybe you ought to listen to Charles Kronick Berkshire from above. Point 2 is spot on !!!!

I’m told that guns, when in the presence of dirty thoughts, can unzip themselves and go on rampages all by themselves.

That’s true always point mine in a safe direction when I rest it to go down range and see my target groups. Even though I’m all alone and it’s unloaded you never know it could still be pissed about tht time I put cleaning off until the next morning.

And with all that caution with knowing how tricky and pernicious firearms are, they want to make ‘smart’ guns to top it off. Ain’t that a story? Imagine adding smarts to these unlawful creatures.

You point your gun downrange when you go down range? Seems to me you should be pointing it the other direction.

No that was my point when I’m down range I always point it off to the side even though I know it’s unloaded. Ha ha. You know at like an angle in a safe dirirection. If I’m down range down rang isn’t a safe direction. Your foot or friends food isn’t a safe direction either.

I voted for Baker but I agree with the House and Senate on Beaon Hill lock-step with Democrats I (and my middle class friends) have no chance.

The candidate DV describes–doubtful we will ever see such a person. But if we did s/he would lite a fire with voters, lots of pent-up energy. That person would have a good chance to win.

Everyone should make it a point to see these flags. It is so beautiful. I never saw anything about it and found out that I could have purchased a flag. Was it advertised somewhere that I don’t know about?

WBRK ran ads for a few weeks about this. I think the Pittsfield Gazette also did a feature on this (or maybe it was the Berkshire Courrier or Record).
