THE PLANET hesitates to use numbers because they reduce human misery to a calculation, but qualification trumps hesitance. Numbers provide the dispassion of scope and for that become useful. Since the brutal Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 1,200 Israelis killed, more than 5,000 wounded/maimed … nearly 16,000 Palestinians killed, 150,000 wounded/maimed — most of them civilians.
Commensurate response transforms into mindless revenge when babies are thrown out with bathwater, and children blown to pieces in hospitals.

As of last week, 1.8 million people in Gaza were estimated to be internally displaced, according to UN – roughly 80% of the population.
Scores of wounded people could be seen being taken from rubble and to hospitals in southern Gaza throughout Monday in footage. One Reuters video showed a baby being rushed from a civilian car into Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis. The 2-month-old lies on a stretcher, apparently unconscious, as doctors remove his clothes and connect him to an oxygen supply.
“They told us to leave Gaza, there’s a war in Gaza, so we left (the north) and came here to the south just like they asked. But this is what we’ve found in the south,” Ibrahim Esbeitan, the baby’s father said in the video, pointing at this child.
In Salah Al-Arja, in Rafah, residents were seen trying to rescue their loved ones from the rubble with their bare hands. “We were asleep and safe, they told us it was a safe area, Rafah and all, but at twenty past ten, they stuck it with barrels, destroying all the block, there were children, women, and martyrs,” an unnamed local resident told Reuters.
“There is no safe area, neither Rafah, nor Khan Younis, nor Gaza, nor Dier, they are all liars, they say it is a safe area, they let us seek refuge, they evacuated Khan Younis and Gaza and still they bomb.”

The Israeli air-ground attack began in the north, pummeling northern Gaza into powder. The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) warned Gaza’s non-combatants to move south, promising safety. Those who fled did so without shelter or enough provisions (food, drink, medicines). Nonetheless, they saw their best chance at survival in the south.

The Republicans are trying to stop massive aid to Ukraine and Israel by refusing to give the aid unless we have control over our borders. By the arguments people are making on this board, that would make sense. Everybody is expecting terror attacks including our FBI Director so the logical thing is to close our borders and not make it easier for these attacks to happen. America no longer operates on logic, however, so the Republican plan may fail. Nobody mentions the human misery in Ukraine which America is also funding.

Massachusetts want everyone in the state to use expensive electricity to heat their homes. The elites will have no problem affording it. The school personnel will survive with their big salary increases, but everyone else will freeze because electricity is unaffordable for most people. The Mass. bigwigs admit it will leave many out in the cold, but they don’t have a solution. Can you believe the arrogance of these people? Add to that the electricity they want vehicles to run on, a plan which is failing, and you can see why so many would be on public transportation.
