Of interest to THE PLANET was the sartorial aspect. Every head of state—Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa, Guatemala President Bernardo Arevalo, President Joe Biden—dressed appropriately in well-tailored business suits, dress shirts, and ties. Not Ukrainian comedian Vol Zelensky. He showed up in a black sweatshirt. Beggars, it turns out, CAN be choosers.
- It Can’t Be ‘Won‘–Zelensky hit U.S. taxpayers for another $8 billion in aid. He asked, and he received. He sought, and he found. He knocked on the door, and Biden-Harris gave the money to help “win this war.” Right. Win the war by enabling Zelensky and his handlers to strike more deeply into Russia, thereby further triggering Russian retaliation.
- Sharpie–Zelensky’s one sharp cookie. He’s hedging his bets, meeting with Donald Trump. Smart move. Like him or not, Zel’s got stamina and is one heckuva fighter.
- Dialing for Dollars–‘Russia is slowly making gains, and the U.S. is backing a loser. Why? $$$$$$$
- Ya Can Look It Up–People forget that it was not Russia but Ukraine that set up this war. THE PLANET won’t give a History 101 lecture. We will trust readers to research Ukrainian history following the fall of the Soviet Union, particularly the country’s massive corruption (unchanged, by the way) and provocations in its eastern sectors.
- Off Script–NYC mayor Eric Adams now finds himself in the deep muddy. He faces federal corruption charges that include bribery and fraud. His real crime? - Didn’t Earn It (DEI)–Bitchfield will be getting $100,00 taxpayers dollars to develop “digital equity.” This includes help for “our non-English speaking community.” Believe it or not, for our younger readers, there was a time when foreigners who arrived (legally!) in America were expected to ASSIMILATE. That included Job 1: Learn English. The money, which is not enough to affect real change but merely another cynical expression of local government’s continued misfiring, will help “people who have been incarcerated, people of color, and English-language learners” access porn sites and other aspects of the dark web.
- Bullets Not Ballots–Kudos to bipartisanship. The Senate issued a bipartisan report excoriating the Secret Service for “profound failure” in the July 13 assassination attempt on President Donald Trump. For two minutes, the SS knew the gunman was on the roof prior to taking action. That allowed the wannabe to squeeze off eight rounds, one of which was a headshot on Trump. And someone’s going to dispute that there are officials in the U.S. government who desperately want to stop Trump, with bullets if necessary?

Loved the article today, Dan. I felt a lot of it. The piece about foreigners becoming citizens brought me back over 80 years. Yes, at one time it required a difficult time to become a citizen of our country. In the 1940’s my mother attended English and citizen classes at PHS in hopes of passing a test to become a citizen. It was not easy to become a citizen of this great country. It is a bit different now. I hope we change because in the long run it will make a huge difference in weather America remains a world leader.
