TWO-PETE GOVERNMENT: THE COLLECTIVE BRAIN POWER OF WET CEMENT … AND B-O-R-I-N-G

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION DEC. 6-8, 2024) — At a recent duck-and goose soiree, someone asked THE PLANET why we weren’t covering Bitchfield politics as much these days. We put down our Macallan No. 6 single malt and pondered. It was a good question.

Macallan is a smoky scotch, “sweet and full, but not overly complex. Lots of sherry, plums, powdered sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg give it a silky, round mouthfeel (thewhiskeywash.com),” redolent with peat.

Peat, we say. Not Pete.

We gave a two-fold answer to the query. First, THE PLANET had much more interest in the presidential campaign as it unfolded in all its bizarre drama:

— Biden saying he was in it all the way then stepping down.

— Two assassination attempts on Trump.

— A cackling loser punching well above her weight class.

Trump’s TRiUMPh, in fact, is the Story of the Century.

Second, the political scene in Bitchfield has never been more boring. Our friend said that was itself a reason to take a peek. After another sip, we saw the point. Mediocrity has been lowered to a virtual art form, with dimwit Two Pete Government giving the corner office and council presidency the  political savvy of  wet cement. They’re great guys, though.

THE PLANET could write prose poems on the topic, starting with every member of the city council mailing it in, postage due. They meet twice a month for circle jerks in otherwise no-show jobs and simply aren’t worth the five-figure salaries and bennies. Simple solution is to make this (and the school committee) all volunteer. Then we’ll see who’s in it for public service and who’s isn’t.

Housing; snow removal; road maintenance; public safety; a derelict downtown; substandard performance in middle and high schools; uncontrolled, unconstrained, unrestricted, unchecked, unbridled, unlimited, unfettered, unshackled, untrammeled, uninhibited, unconfined, unimpeded, unhampered, unbounded, unsuppressed, undisciplined, uncontrollable public spending, taxes amounting to grand theft … ah, but we re-Pete ourselves.

There’s no more getting into any of it, because it’s simply too monotonous and unrelieved, a clown show of hicks and sticks.

So to all who are wondering about that question posed in the first paragraph, there’s your answer: It’s too boring and well beneath our pay scale.

Have a great weekend, everybody.

Hello blogger Dan Valenti,

Pittsfield politics is always predictable. In 2024, the 2-Pete’s Pittsfield politics predictably pounds people’s purses. But it always the has been the same old failed management system of municipal government in Pittsfield going back to the early-1980’s (and probably even before then).

Why does the City of Pittsfield cost tens of millions more per fiscal year than similar small postindustrial cities, such as Westfield? There has to be an answer or answers. (There are no more Norman Rockwell paintings to sell).

My view of my native hometown (Pittsfield, Mass.)’s excessive municipal spending is that the city government sees everything and everyone as sources of revenues. It is not about the city’s lousy public services, but rather, it is really about riding the gravy train of public dollars.

But what if you are not one of the lucky few who gets to ride the gravy train? Then you work multiple low- to moderate-income jobs, pay taxes to a corrupt one-party state and local government, and call yourself….a doormat on a good day, or a toilet for the corrupt career politicians and their useless bureaucrats to shit on during the bad days….and your name is the fictional Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski hard-working-class family who lives and is stuck in the PITTS!

I am very disappointed with the 2-Pete’s Pittsfield politics in 2024. It smells of Nuciforo’s disgraced legacy of corruption, especially the $341,000 in city free cash that Luciforo pocketed from Mayor Peter Marchetti’s stupid settlement with the pot kings & queens of Bitchfield, mASS. Meanwhile, the fictional Kapanski’s are paying an average of over $6,000 per fiscal year in municipal taxes & fees, while the millionaire Andrea Francesco Nuciforo Junior lives in his $950,000 mansion in Pittsfield’s elitist Gated Community west of Berkshire Community College. I wished that Nuciforo was in prison before he goes to Hell to rot there for eternity.

You are correct with the re-Pete message the city keeps giving. Not only do we have the Thanksgiving double time rides to no where by the city public works (could be a new Arlo song) but to make matters worse they decided to double down and do it this morning as I saw the “sidewalk” plow and a city plow drive by doing nothing at 5am this morning. I’m sure ot figures in this mornings ride as well. I feel the emptiness of the Kapanski’s wallets bringing me to despair

No, they just spend more money, raise the budget 5%, and then they spend even more than what they ‘budgeted.’ Then they raise the tax rate (or lower it if they can raise assessments) to get more of your money.

Fake Budgets means higher taxes.

What you want is for them to make a rule that changes the budget are structured into fresh budget hearings and the new budget gets a number and is recorded as a financial report. The close of the year should report each forcast and be a record of spending compliance.

I can’t wait for Tom Bowman’s trip through Pittsfield and mASSachusetts.

He can pickup D-Gov Maura Healey and D-mayor of Boston Wu, to take for a well deserved stay in the crowbar hotel.

Will Pittsfield’s mayor Pete, tag along for the ride too?

If mASSachsetts gets real lucky, Lieawatha Warren will open her mouth some more and get free Federal accommodations too!

What is there to cover? Pittsfield has gone quiet, and gentle as a lamb. Even the loss of garbage collection didn’t cause anyone to stir from the palliative cannabis haze that gets them through the day. With the city in this roofied state anything is possible. Expect more traffic calming experiments, for starters.

Well I know one of the issues surrounding the state of the “quiet Kapanski’s_ is the younger generation gets all their “news” from Tik Tok. They had no idea about the new “rule” of garbage collection in the city. Seems the new younger Kapanski’s are oblivious to what is going on. The city leaders have them so dumbed down that they don’t give a crap what the older Kapanski’s think because they won’t be here much longer.

There is a theory it should be sold. That assumes there is a customer who either already worked up a market plan or wants to. The problem it has already been built and established, and whoever piloted it chose the cheapest and worse location. Bad location yields no traffic and therefore, no opportunity to address other problems.

I would have wanted it at the Home Depot Walmart Market 32 anchor. It’s all guesswork and hypothesis. Since there is not a single person who really knows what choices would work, that one at least tests the location based on mass transit of customers.

I agree with Chaz why can’t the city lease it for a short term instead owning it ? If a kid from Dalton can raise $ 175,000 from selling doughnuts and hot cocoa, and Kamala can raise $1.4 million for her failed bid to beat orange man. We could raise the money for the carousel, but they need a strategy and a plan to move forward with it.

I see the former mayor wanted to make sure that she got credit for the new housing for the homeless. The truth of the matter is, it’s not her to do her credit is due to the taxpayers they went before the city Council complaining about the homeless situation well, that’s also gave her credit for the scooters that went out of business and the bike lanes that everybody hates.

The main reason that Pittsfield politics seems boring is because the current administration completely lacks communication skills. A few examples, the Holmes and Oak Hill Roads where Morales created speed bumps. It never crossed Mayor Hissy Fits mind that these latest brilliant ideas should have been shared with the Fire and Police Department? Of course not, let’s just cause damage to the fire trucks. Did Mayor Hissy Fit and Morales ever consider how these 11 speed bumps delays emergency response to residents in the Oak Hill neighborhood? Kudos to Councilor Persip for his attempt to bring this up at the council meeting. Unfortunately, his questions upset Mayor Hissy Fit. He stood there red-faced and had a major shit fit, well beyond his normal hissy fit. His face was so red I thought the scruffy hair was going to burn off his face. How many potholes could have been filled with the blacktop used in these speed bumps?

There was a complete lack of communication with the plowing of the streets today. Why is it that 3 different plow trucks drove up and down my street with their plows up. What’s this costing taxpayers. Is there no one monitoring these plow trucks?

Over a year ago the 36 residents of my street received a letter from City Hall signed by Morales stating that our street would be corrected from the complete disaster of them narrowing it causing flooding, ruining lawns and driveways. NOTHING was done, ONE YEAR, the residents waited for this promise to be fulfilled, so evidently when the administration communicates by written signed letters, they just lie. We were also told in person by Mayor Hissy Fit, Porkchop White, Bike Lane Morales , and our totally absent, non-responding Councilor Noto that our street would be corrected. Why is Mayor Hissy Fit allowing Morales to continue screwing up the streets of Pittsfield? Does Morales have something on Mayor Hissy Fit?

It’s almost a year that the Mayor and City Council have been in office, and I can’t see where they have done anything to HELP the taxpayers! They just keep adding charges.

I attended the totor roll outs and it was never mentioned that they would be fining taxpayers. Must be nice to make up rules and laws as they see fit. Also, why is it they can fine taxpayers for not shoveling their walks but it’s okay for the city to not shovel the sidewalks on the bridges around the city?

From an article in the local paper about the pay scale for private plow drivers.

The pay for driving a contract plow for the city depends on the size and weight of your truck: $85 per hour for three-quarter ton pickup trucks, $203 an hour for 10-wheel trucks equipped with front and wing plows. Barboratta says 80 percent of drivers are equipped with a one-ton pickup, and earn $107 hourly.

Hello blogger Dan Valenti,

What about Pittsfield’s own named Andrea Francesco Nuciforo Junior?

The Boston Globe reported a little less than 18 years ago now, way back in January 2007, that Nuciforo allegedly illegally double-dipped from 1999 – 2006 as a State Senator in Boston who chaired the Senate Finance Committee while at the same time he served a private sector Attorney for Boston’s big banks and insurance companies prior to Nuciforo stepping down from his elected position as Pittsfield’s State Senator at the end of 2006?

How is the world was all of this printed in The Boston Globe in early-January 2007, but Nuciforo was never charged with a state and/or federal crime(s), while countless other Boston area politicians were and are charged with state and/or federal crimes for lesser alleged criminal offenses?

Then there were the later news stories and editorials in The Boston Globe about Nuciforo’s marijuana company “Berkshire Roots” that stated that Nuciforo had used his political connections in Boston and Pittsfield alike, and that he had “deep pockets” of wealthy investors, while many other less fortunate people had to wait to receive their pot permits.

Given that Nuciforo was a double-dipper whereby from 1999 – 2006 he allegedly illegally enriched himself as a State Senator and a corporate Attorney with Boston’s insurance companies and the like, and in present-day, late-2024, Nuciforo still has a law office in Boston’s Financial District, Nuciforo’s deep-pockets of investors in his marijuana business “Berkshire Roots” seems to be not only very questionable and suspicious, but also, it may be allegedly illegal.

Nuciforo is a millionaire. He is an Attorney in Pittsfield and Boston alike. He is a landlord in Pittsfield and Boston alike. He runs his marijuana company “Berkshire Roots” that was founded in March 2017. He has a residence in Boston. He has a residence in Pittsfield in the city’s elitist Gated Community neighborhood whereby he lives in a $950,000 mansion that is only 0.3 miles from former Mayor Linda Tyer and millionaire Barry Clairmont’s mansion.

Earlier in 2024, Nuciforo received a pot settlement of $341,000.00 from the City of Pittsfield’s FREE CASH account(s). He knew what he was doing when he paid for his pot permits in Pittsfield (Massachusetts) years ago, but in 2024, he wanted his money back after making millions of dollars being a drug dealer of marijuana products.

20 years earlier, Nuciforo and billionaire John Forbes Kerry wore matching tuxedos when the co-hosted John Kerry’s presidential fundraiser, but George W. Bush won re-election in 2004. Nuciforo kissing John Kerry’s behind got him nowhere.

You, blogger Dan Valenti, and other blog posters write about minorities and/or women who received public funds and allege corruption in Pittsfield politics and Boston alike, but it always amazes me that Nuciforo usually gets a free pass from his legacy of corruption in state politics, his law practice(s), and Massachusetts’ relatively new multi-billion-dollar marijuana industry.

I cannot ever go back to Pittsfield (Mass.) because Luciforo mean-spiritedly mistreated MElle for over the past 28.5-years now. But if I wore John Forbes Kerry’s fancy shoes, Pittsfield’s Pot King (of lawsuits) would offer me one of his primo preroll pot products if I entered one of the two Berkshire Roots marijuana dispensary on Dalton Avenue in Pittsfield or in east Boston. To Nuciforo, John Kerry is a billionaire who lives in luxury on Beacon Hill in Boston, while Jon Melle is a Have-NOT who is from a working-class and underclass family in Pittsfield. In closing John Kerry is full of HOT AIR, Jon Melle fears Luciforo’s EVIL, and Nuciforo is a piece of shit.

The Berkshire Eagle finally runs an article about all the ICE arrests here in Berkshire County, but it’s mostly about the procedural aspects of the arrests. Our DA Shugrue complaining that when ICE arrests criminals in mid-prosecution, there is no justice for the victims. No mention, however, of how we got into this mess in the first place. Of course there wouldn’t be because that would mean discussing illegal immigration and that’s an off limits discussion here in Berkshire County. We wouldn’t have victims if these dangerous people were not allowed in the country in the first place and local politicians and law enforcement know it.

The Eagle can’t even write a truthful headline. They are not Berkshire residents. They are illegal immigrants who are hiding here. Many have also committed crimes. Thank god ICE is doing their jobs and Bumbles doesn’t have them standing down. The Eagle will need another GoFundMe. RIP

True. If the Democrats followed the law and didn’t allow illegal immigrants, many of whom are criminals, to just pour into our country then we wouldn’t have victims of their crimes. Americans support legal immigration. The Berkshire Eagle and those on the left here want to spin this as ICE vs. justice for the victims of illegal immigrant crime. Do they know how crazy that sounds?!? ICE is trying to follow the law by removing these dangerous individuals The Eagle says these people were not turned in by our locals. I’m really not sure that’s a good thing if they are criminals. It all comes back to following the law.

The Berkshire Regional Planning Commission is a failure. The area’s distressed and very unequal regional economy has gotten worse in the Berkshires over the past 50 years. Worse, the area’s polluted land, water and air have not been adequately addressed in Berkshire County with its capped leaky landfills that are ticking time bombs.

The 32 Berkshire-municipalities always excessively increase local taxes and fees, while the area’s population shrinks, the middle-class shrinks, the need for costly social services grows, and a single living wage job in Pittsfield or North Adams is about as common in the Berkshires as Dan Bosley helping immigrant families to live in North Adams when he is not busy being a greedy lobbyist in Boston, Nuciforo NOT filing his pot lawsuits to bust pot unions and receive a 6-figure check from Pittsfield’s taxpayers, and PAC Man Richie Neal NOT representing the Swamp’s K Street corporate lobbyist firms, especially big insurance companies.

Holy Shit! I agree with you Mele! BRPC has a 6.6 million dollar budget. They provide a lot of duplicated services. County Government was dissolved long time ago, and so should they. If we could only streamline and merge all of the duplicated services into one, we would be on the road to saving taxpayers money.

B. R M V is causing more mayhem than good with suspension of drivers licenses as they have now received info from out of state infractions
and add it on to your license here..Many of these infractions have been adjudicated where they came from.

Its enough for the RMV to add the out of state suspension but it is cruel and unusual punishment to fine AGAIN ? twenty times the original fine in some cases.

Massachusetts Governor Healey and the other far leftists are doubling down on protecting all illegal immigrants including criminals. The safety of Massachusetts citizens is no longer a priority of the politicians in this state. They are playing political games because they don’t like President-elect Trump. Massachusetts residents who have been the victims of crimes from illegal immigrants are the ones not being protected.

Yes our dear local blue nut coocoo Guernsey wrote that the sheriff was wrong and should have let the child rapist go free from jail where he would have disappeared to another part of the country to rape again. My thought is he should have been held without bail as he is a danger to society but our Masshole judges came up with a $5,000.00 bail which anyone could pay. They really don’t get it or the blues really don’t care, I’m conflicted as to which version to believe.

I don’t believe the governor or any state legislature would have absolute immunity for blatantly violating federal law.

If it comes out of their pocket, or if Trump’s IRS uses one of the 87,000 agents to crawl up their finances with the IRS’ microscope, I’m sure they’ll back down FAST.

Bathhouse (Xiden) provided the blueprint for all of this. Good thing though, MAGA are clean as a whistle.

Letter: Pittsfield traffic stop was not in the holiday spirit
The Berkshire Eagle, December 07, 2024

To the editor: I am writing this letter to express my disappointment in the Pittsfield Police Department and their lack of holiday spirit.

I feel Pittsfield has been on a consistent decline with crime, and we have people begging for money at every corner, but the PPD chooses to turn a blind eye to those activities. But let a car decorated for Christmas go by, and that is when they decide to “uphold the law.”

How do they decide who to pull over and who to allow to display decorations? Plenty of other cars (both personal and commercial) are decorated, but I guess it depends on how Grinchy the particular officer is.

Loosen up a little, PPD (or at least the one officer). Spend more time fighting the real issues of your city, and let the rest of the community enjoy the holiday spirit. The world is way too dark lately; a little Christmas cheer is kind of what we all need right now.

Hello blogger Dan Valenti,

Please read Smitty Pignatelli’s online radio interview.

What did he mean that: “Social media has created a monster in so many ways with our interacting with our elected officials.”? Is Smitty Pignatelli against FREE SPEECH? Is Smitty Pignatelli for RETRIBUTION? Smitty Pignatelli sounds similar to Mayor Peter Marchetti when he said he is not a fan of social media and blogs, and that he wanted a 90-day grace period free from criticisms of his then new mayoral administration back in early-2024.

What did Smitty Pignatelli mean when he said that the state auditor’s looking into the (“cooked”) books of the state legislature will lead to public seeing the “sensitive” settlements in the nondisclosure agreements? Why don’t we know how much state tax dollars went into settling state lawmakers’ respective inappropriate behaviors with others who work in the Boston Statehouse? Who are these state lawmakers who have cost state taxpayers money, and what did they do?

What did he mean that when he was first sworn in as a State Rep. in Boston, he was part of an amazing delegation?

The Berkshire delegation back in 2003 consisted of the then corrupt State Sen. Andrea Nuciforo, Jr., who is a disgraced double-dipper with the big insurance companies in the Boston area, and Nuciforo is the owner of the marijuana company “Berkshire Roots”; State Rep. Dan Bosley, who is a pro-big- business greedy lobbyist in Boston; State Rep. Peter Larkin, who has long been a GE lobbyist who made a small fortune for himself by selling out Pittsfield with the GE settlements that led to the flawed capped leak landfills, which Smitty Pignatelli supports in Lee (Mass.); and Shaun Kelly, who went to work as a clerk in the Berkshire state courthouse system.

Please follow-up with Smitty Pignatelli. I would like to know why people writing on social media have created a monster in his mind, please. I would like to know if he thinks that we should know about the costly nondisclosure agreements in the Boston Statehouse, please. I would like to know why he is so fond of Nuciforo, Bosley, Larkin, and Kelly, please, given that they are all greedy in their respective post-Statehouse careers.

Best wishes,

Jon Melle

Hello blogger Dan Valenti,

Sherwood Guernsey wants immigrants to be granted bail prior to their trials by juries instead of being held in the county jail for ICE to review their cases.

Sherwood Guernsey argues that Sheriff Tom Bowler and ICE are supporting the government circumventing immigrants’ constitutional rights to a speedy trial to determine their guilt or innocence in a court of law.

Sherwood Guernsey is an old wealth, Ivy League educated member of the elitist wing of the Democratic Party who supported Kamala Harris for U.S. President in 2024. She was a progressive prosecutor, but two years earlier in 2022, Sherwood Guernsey wrote a letter denouncing then Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington, who is also a progressive prosecutor, but 2 + 2 = 5 in politics sometimes.

Sherwood Guernsey is a former Massachusetts State Representative, an unsuccessful candidate for U.S. Congress, and a latte limousine liberal who is a prime illustration as to why the Democratic Party lost the working-class vote to Donald Trump, the 53 – 47 U.S. Senate, the 220 – 215 U.S. House of Representatives, and the majority conservative Justices on the U.S. Supreme Court, in 2024.

If we were all as wealthy and privileged as Sherwood Guernsey, then we would not mention that immigrants are working some of the jobs that U.S. Citizens are competing for, the housing crisis, whereby many law-abiding people are priced out of owning and retaining a home, and the high rate of U.S. inflation whereby the government is spending many billions of dollars per fiscal year to provide costly social services and public education for the influx of immigrants during the Biden administration – not to mention our nation’s huge and growing larger in numbers underclass population.

I wish that I could make somewhere around $200,000 plus state government public perks per fiscal year for life like Sheriff Tom Bowler. I also wish that I were a trust fund baby with millions of dollars in my financial accounts like old wealth Sherwood Guernsey. But I am the Have-NOT from Pittsfield (Massachusetts) named Jon Melle, whose last name comes from a small town named Melle, Piedmont, Italy, which has a far right national woman leader running Italy who openly supports Mussolini, but, once again, 2 + 2 = 5.

Jon Melle

Letter: “Berkshire sheriff should put constitutional rights first”
The Berkshire Eagle, December 11, 2024

To the editor: I was surprised when I read the Dec. 7 Eagle article (“Recent ICE arrests of Berkshire residents spark debate over immigration detainers and justice for victims”) about Berkshire Sheriff Thomas Bowler’s cooperation with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and his support for a bill to be able to hold immigrants even longer for ICE to come.

By cooperating with ICE before a trial to determine the defendant’s guilt or innocence, the sheriff is undermining and defying the Constitution of our country. The right to a fair trial by jury is enshrined in the Sixth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which states that “in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury of the state and district where the crime was committed.”

Our criminal laws are established by our democratic process. It is in the hands of the district attorney to prosecute under those laws to determine guilt or innocence. I do not see how it is up to a sheriff, or to ICE, to circumvent that process by notifying ICE to remove the defendant before he’s proven guilty. He is a potentially innocent man.

Everyone agrees that public safety is a critical concern. There is no disagreement there. That is why we have a Constitution and the laws of our society to be enforced in criminal matters by the district attorney.

It is not up to the sheriff to say whether a defendant is guilty or assume his guilt. He or she is only a public safety hazard if guilty.

By notifying ICE so that they can come and grab the defendant before he has a chance to prove his innocence, the sheriff is in effect acting like judge and jury.

I believe the sheriff is a good and honorable leader. I urge him to reconsider his position with regard to cooperation with ICE and support our Constitution and our district attorney.

Sherwood Guernsey, Williamstown

Did you know they offer a course in large scale drug operations in Bitchfield Public Schools?

No? Well, they do…or did I should say. It was taught by DEI hir….I mean Dean of Students, Lavonte Wiggins.

Lavonte and his buddy, Theodore Warren, also from Bitchfield, got popped by the feds with enough cocaine to make Tony Montanya blush.

https://www.justice.gov/usao-ma/pr/dean-pittsfield-high-school-and-one-other-charged-cocaine-trafficking-conspiracy

**It makes you wonder if there is any nexus with the Dean of Students and any other recipient of the ARPA reparations, or I mean ARPA awards given out in Bitchfield.

If only we had a real inquiring press locally, it could make for a good investigative story.

If it turns up no connection, I’m sure plenty of fraud would be uncovered in the interim, regarding the ARPA payments and its intended use and what it’s really being used for.
