(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY MARCH 3, 2025) — The astounding scene that unfolded in the Oval Office Friday gave the world the ultimate Trumpian moment.
President Donald Trump brought Volodymyr Zelensky down about 18 pegs in front of the world press, and it was all Zelensky’s doing. He went in leading with his chin and got clocked. Trump and VP J.D. Vance showed more animation, life, and balls in 10 minutes than Biden and Harris put out in four years. In all our long career covering politics at all levels, THE PLANET has never seen anything like it.
The meeting began with small talk and tepid opening remarks, and for the next 35 minutes or so, one could see Z quipping little zingers. After all, he’s literally a comedian. The longer the meeting went on, the more you could sense something building. Trump played it masterfully, allowing Zelensky to go on. It was like playing a fish by letting it run. The came the final 11 minutes. Bang! Zoom! The press availability ended with Trump throwing Z out of the White House, leaving unsigned the minerals deal that had been initially the main item on the agenda, leaving the next step up in the air.
THE PLANET predicts the rare-earth deal will eventually be signed and without the security guarantees Zelensky had demanded.

How and why this happened can be traced to Z’s action a week earlier. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had traveled to Ukraine to finalize and sign the minerals agreement. America would receive the right to mine the precious commodities, which would in effect becoming a security guarantee for Ukraine. No way Putin would attack American workers there. It looked like a win for both sides, until …
… until Zelensky refused to sign. The Ukrainian president said he wanted an in-person meeting with Trump at the White House. Only then would he sign. It was a classic case of overplaying a hand. Z thought he could use the deal as leverage to come to Washington, play the tough guy, and ask for more.
Trump gives Zelenski a “wood shampoo.”
On the social media site X, Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo. posted, “Zelenskyy could have signed the deal five days earlier but wanted to come to the White House. He’d been difficult for two weeks. Yet he wanted the White House meeting. Trump was upbeat about it even just the day before publicly and privately the day of. Although he could have reset the whole thing, Zelenskyy was antagonistic and over the top.”
Instead, Zelensky met with Trump and Vance in front of a gaggle of press from around the world. It was originally intended to be another of those routine, feel-good meet-and-greets of world leaders, the kind Trump had just done with the British Prime Minister Kier Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The meeting went south for Zelensky after VP Vance chipped in with an observation that diplomacy, not futile hostilities, was the best way to end the war. There was every reason to believe Vance, since Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin had recent, direct talks about that very thing. Zelensky, however, jumped the rails. He tried to “litigate” issues that were better left for private. In effect, he called Trump’s bluff holding nothing. He picked the wrong guy. NEVER bluff someone holding a straight flush, least of all Donald Trump.
Against Biden-Harris, that trick worked for four years and hundreds of billions of dollars. With Trump, all it brought was a wood shampoo.
Zelensky blew it.
Trump and Vance took the “tough guy” to school, gave him a lesson in world politics, then threw him out of the room.
Later, Trump posted on his Truth Social account: “We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today,” Trump wrote. “Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure. I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations,” Trump said in a Truth Social post Friday. “I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”
There is a PRESIDENT back in the Oval Office.

FACTS:
In 2003, the Bush 2 led U.S. Government invaded Iraq. John Forbes Kerry, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Joe Biden all voted for the aforementioned invasion of Iraq, which has one of the highest oil and natural gas reserves in the world.
In 2022, the Putin led Russian Government invaded Ukraine. The ongoing war is over 3 years old and counting. Trump is negotiating with Putin without Ukraine being at the negotiating table. Trump says that he wants the war to end with a ceasefire. The war continues with Ukrainian-friendly European countries backing Ukraine.
China has made its intentions clear that it plans to invade Taiwan in the future. The U.S. Government opposes China’s threat to invade Taiwan.

The U.S. Government should NOT have invaded Iraq in 2003. The U.S. Government is morally hypocritical to oppose Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, along with China’s threat to invade Taiwan.

Zelensky seems to be trying to play our country against Europe and seeing who will give him more money and “security guarantees” Democrats were only too willing to keep giving large handouts indefinitely to Ukraine with no attempts to push for peace or asking for any form of compensation from Zelensky. Neither Russia or Ukraine is any closer to victory now than they were years ago, but both countries are weaker and there has been so much death and destruction. Democrats need to get on board with helping to achieve a path toward peace. The swamp in Washington needs to focus on strategies of reaching a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. They need to work with President Trump and not try to undermine him.

Excellent and inspiring speech by President Trump last night. He said he has received a note from Zelensky about moving forward with the minerals deal. Democrats refused to clap for anything. One Democrat had to be removed. Lizzie Warren and other Democrats were texting constantly or holding signs. Lizzie applauded herself when Trump said all she wants to do is keep sending money to Ukraine. That’s the only time when all Democrats applauded. They all support sending billions every few months to Ukraine. Massachusetts looks really bad with people like Lizzie Warren in charge here after her behavior last night.
