BTW I know how they operate they print what the police and courts want them to print and if you have connections in the form of advertising dollars or other political ties you’re safe (most news organizations are run that way.)

I am afraid that you are very wrong in regards to advertisers having some sort of preference when it comes to coverage.
I shall not name names, but I know of two “major” advertisers that have either been attacked or, let’s say, discounted.
This just is not the case.
Do your research. Research Jane Akre and Steve Wilson, Monsanto. why do you think they covered up for Angelo for over seven years? Then only breaking the story and minimizing his disgusting actions when they had to? How much do you think Greylock spends in advertising as opposed to Joe’s home improvement???

Thank you for making my point. I had not even considered them earlier. Greylock spends an enormous amount of money with the Eagle, yet the Eagle was responsible for dethroning their long-time CEO and damaging the reputation of the company.
The Eagle attacked a huge advertiser of theirs.

The topic is deceitful news organizations and again the Eagle covered up for seven years Angelo’s actions and did not disclose them until he was on his way out.
I understand – if you cannot be victorious in a battle of wits, then try to change the rules of the game. I applaud your reluctance to be gracious in defeat. It takes stamina to be so stubborn.
All the ranting the Eagle does about FOX news and they are no different.
There is no comparison with the Eagle and Fox news. At least Fox will give liberals a shot, Eagle is so Liberal and gives no other views.
Fox is the worst one of them all.

The two party system is part of the problem too. The issues facing humanity are not partial to any one side of the political spectrum. More people are waking up I think.

Agree 100%. Two media blinded by ideology. The Eagle has less of an excuse in our view because, as The Local Daily, it has a huge responsibility as The Fourth Estate to protect the community and keep the game honest. It has bailed out on that.
I wonder if anyone has ever noticed in the television listings in the BB that they list 24/7 news stations like MSNBC and CNN, but NO FOX NEWS! Coincidence, I wonder?
Is that true? They don’t list Fox? If so, it’s most likely no coincidence.

Well, I certainly have my own questions about the Berkshire Eagle. I think those at the helm over there would have to be complete idiots to have not seen this all coming. I mean, their inevitable demise. So, assuming that they are not complete idiots, the question then begs, how long have they had to prepare for this and what would their preparations consist of? Clearly, think tank territory. So what would a think tank come up with? You seem to be very bright, so what would you say? Are they complete idiots?

No, they are no complete idiots at the BB. Of course, it depends on who your talking about. Andy Mick, the publisher, is not an idiot. He’s a businessman under strict orders from Denver (or wherever else the leftovers of the Singleton Syndicate are dictating orders). His job: To preside over the demise of the paper. There will be quiet feelers put out sooner rather than later about a sale. It won’t go at the price they will ask, but, depending on the desperation, they may have to sell at a rate of what the market will give them, which will be along the lines of the same fire sale price when Media News Group swooped in and bought if from the Miller Family — likely much much lower. The opportunity would be there for a legitimate owner to come in and becoming Ruler of Berkshire County Media. This would have to be a savvy, intelligent, enterprising person or group, one that understands a daily newspaper’s responsibility to the city, one that would have NO sacred cows, one that would be fearless and fair, and finally, one that had the welfare of its subscribers over all else, including the advertisers. Such a paper would sell and could be profitable, if properly run, and circulation would drive ad sales. We fully sold every spot on “The Dan Valenti Show” on WBRK for our final 11 years on the air, not because all my advertisers loved me but because they love my numbers. Such a model works locally. This website, which started modestly, has continued to post rapid gains, although as of now, I do not wish to go commercial. This will ensure the site fierce independence.

You say you are not sure where exactly it is that those who are dictating to Andy Mick are from but you say in no uncertain terms that those dictators have specifically given Andy Mick the job of dismantling the Berkshire Eagle. Is this correct? And whatever organization comes in to purchase the Eagle, they would presumbably have to be informed about the widespread corruption amongst law enforcement in Pittsfield, right? So they would have to be willing to take on the GOBs for the sake of the citizens of Berkshire County. Does not seem likely Dan. What else have you got?

Andy Mick’s job now has changed to presiding over the continuing decline until it reaches the tipping point. The seller will try to get the most money, the buyer the least. The latter will perform due diligence. Discovery will include those factors that will enable them to drive their price. You may know law enforcement, KK, but with due respect, do not know business, particularly the media business.

I guess I know nothing about the history of Pittsfield where it concerns the big war machine called General Electric and the fact that General Electric owns a great deal of the mainstream media. So what makes war run anyway Dan? Being able to sell it to the general public, right Dan? And the lies that are required to convince people that their prosperity depends upon killing other humans are many. So what if any interest would G.E have in a hometown paper like the Eagle when they know full well that controling the flow of information is cornerstone when dealing out death for profit? So what is it about the business of media that I need to know besideds the obvious basics Dan?

You are right about the Establishment mainstream media. Run by investors and managed by bean counters, who are only interested in The BOttom Line. The point I was making with the BB was that if one could get it at the right price, and if one got the right staff, and if it had the right leadership, it could be back on top in this community. That would include a TOTAL OVERHAUL of its worse-than-lame website. Want the website of a newspaper that’s doing it right: go to the Syracuse Post-Standard site.

If another Berkshire Eagle rises up out of the ashes and gives the GOBs a good arse kicking, where does that leave you? Or is it your intent to disemenate enough truth based information to the public for the purpose of bringing down the GOBs before that could happen? Then, the prospective buyers of the Eagle could come in with a clean slate, right?

An interesting scenario. My only intention is to share the truth about stories that are not being reported, underreported, distorted, or aborted. As to bringing down or raising up anybody, the marketplace of ideas will decide that.

Agree with you on that, for sure! Kris, you have made claims and named names elsewhere. Would you be willing to do that in a press conference, in Pittsfield, for the record? If so, that might be arranged and it would likely (not certain) greatly advance a number of storylines.
When is the press conference? Lets get this done.

Sure, if it means that my children will not have to grow up in a world where you are thrown into a cage by criminals for speaking the truth. And if I get thrown into a cage for speaking the truth and nothing at all changes, then my boys were damned anyway. Best to shed the fear and step into the light, if that’s indeed all that we can do. And if I get thrown into a cage and it becomes the catalyst for massive change, then what a small price to pay, wouldn’t you say? Devil is to pay on judgement day.
