PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEEKEND EDITION, JUNE 26-28, 2015) — One Thursday, THE PLANET enjoyed a long, leisurely breakfast at The Red Lion Inn with two of Pittsfield most loyal and successful native sons. Our deliberations, moreover, summoned the memory of a third favorite and famous son. We speak of public servants par excellence Chuck Garivaltis and carousel maker Jim Shulman. This man in is businessman and author Larry Bossidy.

First, however, allow a word about this hackneyed phrase “public servant.”

“Public Servant” Vs. Public Servant (the Quotes Tell All)

Too often, it is thrown into the trash compactor when employed to grant false praise to weak, compliant politicians who (a) are unemployable in The Dreaded Private Sector … (b) who couldn’t put “C & D” after “A & B” in a “smarts” test … (c) who lack a political will or backbone and therefore … (d) will always take orders from The Bosses. Names names. How’s Tricia Farley Bouvier, for starters? They — The Suits — will be erecting a statue in her honor at a foo-foo reception at the oh-so-swank Hotel on North for her work in saving humanity from pestilence, eradicating poverty, curing Ebola, and, most importantly, voting the way “Leadership” (always in quotes for such usage) orders her to vote on Beacon Hill.

No, when THE PLANET rhetorically uses “public servants” in the context displayed in this column, we mean a selfless devotion to community utilized in a manner than extends one out of his or her “me -first” comfort zone. The men we speak of here are public servants in the highest sense. They don’t want credit. They want (and get) results.

Each grew up in Pittsfield “back in the day” — in the day when the city took pride in itself, provided reliable services, taxed reasonably, and rolled out clean sidewalks for responsible citizens who dressed clean and as well as they could afford when they stepped out in public.

The Hit Man

Garivaltis was of one of the great schoolboy athletes ever to come out of Pittsfield. THE PLANET will enter Chuck as our nominee as Berkshire County’s “Greatest Hitter,” a skill he parlayed into a signing with the New York (and soon-to-be San Francisco) Giants of the National League. He played two  seasons in the Giants chain. In fact, Chuck still holds records in the fabled All American Amateur Baseball Association Tournament, still held to this day at Point Stadium in Johnstown, Pa. The tournament has featured many players who went on to careers in the Majors.

The tournament’s record books to this day show Garivaltis as the tournament’s batting champion in 1952 and 1953, the only time in its history anyone has won consecutive batting titles. He hit an otherworldly .483 and .685. Chuck also made the Hearst New England All-Star Team and is the only player from Western Mass. to be named to the team twice. Chuck was a teammate of Larry Bossidy‘s at PHS, and the two moved on to play baseball for Colgate University.

Yes, that Larry Bossidy.

‘Out of the House, Tiger; My Son’s Going to Colate’

LARRY BOSSIDY

Bossidy was a twirler (THE PLANET‘s favorite cliche for “pitcher”) with big league stuff. He had a fastball in the mid-90s, which interested several big league clubs, none more than the Detroit Tigers. The Bengals offered the kid a $40,000 bonus to sign with them, a fortune back in the early 50s. Bossidy’s mom, however, had the “long view” in mind, the type of strategic thinking for which Larry became famous in his stint in the highest levels of corporate America. She told the Tigers’ scout he couldn’t come in the house, because her son would be going back to Colgate to finish his studies. At Colgate, Garivaltis’ bat and Bossidy’s arm led the team to College World Series and Larry into the university’s Hall of Fame.

Bossidy, of course, would become a business leader at GE, Allied Signal, and Honeywell, respected the world over for his acumen in commerce, management, and the leadership of men and women. Presidents want this man’s advice. World leaders study his counsel on matters such as leadership, how to handle personnel, and the keys to successful negotiation. Moral of the story: Always listen to your mom.

Remind THE PLANET some day to tell you the story of the time last year when Chuck got involved with Larry’s family to surprise the latter on his 80th birthday. The gift was to be a hand-carved replica of the sign that graced the Bossidy family’s shoe store in downtown Pittsfield. It’s a tale of the ineffectiveness and inefficiency city government, ca. “present day.” It’s hilarious — in a profoundly sad way.

More importantly, however, was Chuck’s service to the city after his playing days ended.

As a property owner, he has contributed heavily to the local tax base going on three generations. He has held seats on the city council, school committee, and parks commission, plus numerous boards and commissions. Chuck served honestly and for the right reasons, and the city today finds itself in short supply of such people. As you can see, Chuck Garivaltis has been, remains, and always will be one of THE PLANET‘s heroes.

He Never Forget His Hometown

In six degrees of removal, Jim Shulman, like Bossidy, has shoe leather hanging from the family tree. Jim’s family owned (and still does) Jim’s House of Shoes in Pittsfield. With Chuck Garivaltis, Jim shares career success. Where Chuck came from playing Monopoly with real properties, Shulman made his mark as an executive in the medical industry.

Jim — like Chuck and Larry — grew up in Pittsfield’s “post-war” Golden Age, and like those two men, he never forgot his hometown. As we’ve seen, Chuck continues to give back to the community as a successful businessman. Larry gave the city parks a gift of $1 million — and trust THE PLANET — we know full well the story of how the city took that $1 million and basically defied the wishes and intent of its benefactor. Alas, that, too, is another story.

Jim Shulman decided to give back with a carousel. We should have said, “with a (of all things) a carousel.” The choice fits the man well, evoking as it does an innocent optimism that will never be out of fashion, although in present-day Pittsfield with its severe problems continuing to go unaddressed, will always look out of place. The carousel connotes images of childhood, of a simpler time, of the type of pure, blameless, and unimpeachable fun that each of the three men knew so well in the Pittsfield of their respective youths.

That type of youth did once happen. It’s real. It’s not a Leave it to Beaver fantasy. Can it happen again? Yes, it can. The real question, though, is “Will the politicians and those who call the shots ever begin the hard (even harsh) treatments required if the city is ever to get back a semblance of its former glory?”

Digging Deep for All of Us

The carousel will soon break ground on the property Jim and his wife own adjacent to CVS on West and Center streets. Talk about a “story for another day.” All of us remember the stadium-cum-Civic Authority  fiasco, which connects us to The Bossidy Bucks and Chuck’s stint as manager for the old-time baseball team that Jim Bouton put together as a prelude and promotion to a revitalized Wahconah Park. Funny, how life often reminds us that there are no such things as coincidences.

As Schulman explained as we munched on done-to-order scrambled eggs and sides, the carousel serves as a vehicle that will bring people together. Indeed, each of the magnificent horses has been carved by volunteers from the community, people from all walks of life, most of whom had never taken a chisel to wood with love prior to that. Over the course of 10 years, Shulman has led his team of carvers into the creation of a gem that will outlive all of us. When those horses are bobbing their circular way always back to the beginning, they will bear testimony to what can be done when a community comes together. Those volunteers feel a sense of “ownership” cultivated chip-by-chip over a decade. That type of unsullied possession can be infectious — at least that’s what Jim Shulman hopes.

To finance his dream, Shulman didn’t go the Richard Stanley Route. He didn’t hold up the community for public funds. He didn’t expect the taxpaying public to become his venture capitalist. In fact, most of the $1.5 million spent to date has come out of Jim’s own pocket. The project will need another $1.5 million for full completion, although the immediate goal, Phase 1, is to raise $500,000 to put up the main building and get the horses moving.

Backward, Forward into and from the Present

All of this, Ladies and Gentlemen, is meant to return us backward in remembrance and forward in hope. Are we wallowing in nostalgia to think of the former? Are we naive to the limit to even think of the latter? Time will tell.

Meanwhile, let’s hoist a cup in honor of men such as Garivaltis, Bossidy, and Shulman. They are of another breed. Another era. Shall we yet again have to prove our patience with all our soul?

Gentlemen, THE PLANET salutes you!

I went back and read your posts from yesterday. THANK YOU for speaking out against the school budget. Totally agree that the clerical workers in the school system probably do earn much less than the teachers and administrators and they should share their bounty with the clerical workers. Clerical workers are the unsung heroes in every organization and are usually overpaid.

The local radio station broadcast today that Pittsfield residents supposedly pay lower taxes than the rest of the state. This was obviously a response from progressives to local taxpayers who have been complaining about higher taxes. Their message is that we should be happy because compared to the rest of the state we are paying a lot less in taxes as compared to Nantucket whose residents pay much higher taxes. Well, isn’t it all relative since Pittsfield residents are poverty stricken and what may seem like low taxes to Nantucket residents are actually burdensome taxes for low income Pittsfield people. Nantucket happens to be a very wealthy area so they can more than afford their higher taxes. So Pittsfield residents shouldn’t feel lucky since Massachusetts taxes overall are much higher overall even the so called lower taxes of Pittsfield. So nice try progressives, but we can see right through your tricks.

Correction. I meant to say clerical workers are usually underpaid not overpaid. I’m tired. Anyway my point is that instead of all the money in the school budget going to teachers and administrators salaries who are already extremely overpaid, they should stop being so greedy and share the money with the clerical workers which is just what you had said. I agree.

Pittsfield was a great city generations ago. It is a pitiful community today. Most of the local residents rely on welfare and social programs for their survival. Teen pregnancies double the statewide average. Pittsfield’s public schools are failing and way overpriced. Pittsfield politics is totally corrupt. Pittsfield’s finances have high spending, increased taxes, and debts in the hundreds of millions of dollars that will never be paid off in our lifetime. I am happy I was able to move away from Pittsfield over one decade ago. It makes me sad to see what Pittsfield has become. I was under no illusions when I lived there for most of my life. I do not believe a miracle worker or Jesus Christ Himself could change Pittsfield for the better.

What a wonderful and inspirational article, DV. Thank you for posting. I agree with Craig’s characterization of Chuck: a gentleman all the way, an honest man.

My parents (and grandparents ) knew Mr and Mrs Bossidy, Larry’s parents. We bought all our shoes there and Jim’s.

Tricia Farley Bouvier doesn’t deserve any kind of reward at all. She is a lap dog for the GOB’s pure and simple or she is one of the GOB. Not sure which, but she doesn’t speak for all of the people of this city.

I haven’t heard from Tammy Ives on this board for a while. I hope she is still running in Ward 1. Our current Ward councilor Lisa is unfortunately running again. She keeps sending emails only lately probably because she wants votes, but I do not respond. She says she wants to know the thoughts of people in her ward. If only she had done that for the Taconic project.

Tricia Farley Bouvier and Linda Tyer are both part of Jimmy Ruberto’s political network that started with the WHEN political group in 2003. Pam Malumphy had a falling out with Jimmy Ruberto and she became unelectable. Pam Malumphy ran against Tricia Farley Bouvier for Pittsfield State Representative after Chris Speranzo received a plum 6 figure state government job as Pittsfield Clerk of Courts. It seems like people associated with Jimmy Ruberto do well in Pittsfield politics, while people who dislike his Good Old Boy Pittsfield politics become outsiders. That is what Linda Tyer is banking on this year of 2015 in her run for Mayor of Pittsfield. She is running as Jimmy Ruberto’s successor.
I dislike Jimmy Ruberto because he is a Good Old Boy and the GOB’s ran Pittsfield into the proverbial ditch. During Ruberto’s regime, thousands of people moved out of Pittsfield because thousands of jobs were lost in Pittsfield. Jimmy Ruberto said he was going to bring economic growth to Pittsfield’s third world local economy. The only growth in Pittsfield was local taxes, fees, spending, and massive debts that total in the hundreds of millions of dollars that will not be paid off in our lifetimes. Some believe Jimmy Ruberto put Pittsfield back on the path of future financial insolvency and bankruptcy – similar to the financial disaster Pittsfield faced during the Gerry Doyle debacle when millions of dollars went unaccounted for (through present day 15 years later) and Pittsfield went into state government receivership. Jimmy Ruberto’s closes political cronies included the alleged sexual deviants Angelo Stracuzzi and Carmen Massimiano, Jr. Jimmy Ruberto even had the corrupt and fringe Pittsfield prince Andrea F. Nuciforo, Jr. swear him into his third of four terms as Mayor of Pittsfield in early-January, 2008. Pittsfield has transformed itself from a blue collar working class community of the 1950’s to an underclass, poverty, welfare, unequal community of the 21st Century. Pittsfield’s public schools are failing and its multimillion dollar downtown is a place most people avoid, especially after hours. Spice went bankrupt. GE left Pittsfield (for Wall Street, and now for China), and KB Toys went bankrupt, all during Jimmy Ruberto’s tenure as Mayor of Pittsfield.

Governor Deval Patrick’s new Executive Director of Workforce Development isn’t wasting any time getting down to business.
Former State Representative Suzanne Bump is working to introduce herself to the local business communities and let them know she will make sure the Berkshires are not forgotten on Beacon Hill. She says a major concern right now is addressing the loss of jobs in the Berkshires.
Currently the Berkshires have the highest rate of job loss in Massachusetts. Bump says this can be changed with the right policies in place. She says she will be meeting with the Governor once a week to work on bringing skilled workers and higher paying jobs into the area.
Bump says a key part to local job growth and development will be finding a way to keep the younger workers in the Berkshires.

Tammy- As a Ward 1 resident who assisted Tully in getting elected as her number 1 issue was to keep the taxes in check realizing the majority of her constituents are retired. Since her election, she has totally disregarded her promises to her ward. New buses, new school, voting for big school budget even though there are less students each year. Spend, spend spend is her new motto and a solid member of the GOB network.
I hope you will not only list your priorities but stick to your pre-election promises. I am so disgusted with the present 11 bums that I am seriously thinking of not voting this year as everyone is part of the GOB network. From idiot Krol to Morandi who promised his constituents that he would not vote for the new school. Talk is cheap.

Craig,

Your post on yesterday’s Planet deserves a repost:

“Finally–where were all of you when I was pleading your case at the city budget hearing Tuesday night? I was there all by myself and was the only one who spoke against the budget and recommended areas where huge dollars could be saved .The majority of you are part of the problem we have in Pittsfield. you bitch and complain daily on this site and when someone like me goes out to try to address your complaints, you throw dirt in my face. TO THOSE OF YOU ON THE PLANET WHO HAVE SHOWED ME ENCOURAGEMENT BELIEVE ME I KNOW WHO YOU ARE, I AM VERY APPRECIATIVE. MANY OF YOU OUT THERE YOU CAN SEE I AM NOT AFRAID TO CONFRONT ANYONE LIKE I AM CONFRONTING YOU NOW. I AM A STRAIGHT SHOOTER AND I AM GIVING YOU SOME CRITISM NOW– THAT YOU MUST GET INVOLVED. I CAN NOT WIN THIS ELECTION WITHOUT PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO ARE DISGUSTED WITH WHAT WE HAVE NOW. GET OFF YOUR ASS AND DO SOMETHING. AS DAN SAID APATHY WILL KILL US EVERY TIME. IM DOING MY PART.I HAVE JUST SCOLDED YOU AND ITS OVER. NOW LETS GET BACK TO WINING THIS ELECTION–VERY SINCERELY CRAIG”.

Yes you are100% correct. We deserve that chastisement. You sir, got guts. You did stand alone. You got more balls in your pinky finger than the entire city of Pittsfield’s citizens put together. I commend you.

Probably; why most of us do not stand up is so not to get on the suits shitlist. (Get reassesed for higher taxes and such). Probably why when Dan writes about the Constitution and what is happening on the Federal level, it draws few comments as everyone now knows they are being watched closely and don’t want to end up on a no fly list or terrorist watch list.

I sincerely hope you win your bid for mayor. Pittsfield needs someone like you to shake things up. Everyone should be grateful you are willing to do this.

Bianchi = more of the same.
Tyer = who knows what she stands for. She refuses to say.
Gaetani = will rattle the suits, finally giving relief to taxpayers.

I agree that what is happening at the federal level of government is a disgrace. Our Supreme Court is a joke ruled by activists and no longer speaks for the average citizen in America. Sound familiar Pittsfield? Yes our city has the same problem. What do both have in common? Progressives that is the answer. Progressives on the federal level and progressives right here in Pittsfield will be the destruction of this country. I think most people on this site agree with me that progressives are out of control.

Also, on Pittsfield-ma.org, I have reported an issue to DPW 3 times, and have not gotten a return reply. Coming over the Newell Street Bridge to make a left hand turn, the brush needs to be cut back at end of bridge to see oncoming traffic. Take the damn site down, because this Department is useless. I agree Dan. This country has been hijacked by these far left progressives and their influence has created a tense and dangerous situation in this country.

As an example and the examples are endless, Steve Nikitas, a conservative, recently wrote a column in the Berkshire Eagle about how black America needs to take some responsibility for their problems. The blogs that appeared after the article were so hate filled against free speech. One man even wrote a letter to the BB demanding that this writer be prevented from writing any more articles. This politically correct media has been created by these far left progressives who want to completely shut down any IDEAS that go against their views. They said the Berkshire Eagle should fire the writer. They said they will no longer subscribe to the Berkshire Eagle. As you know I’m no fan of the Berkshire Eagle which is extremely progressive normally, but these progressives do this with any media outlet in America that goes against their agenda. They do this not just on this issue, but on any issue which they disagree and doesn’t fit the far left progressive agenda. This type of shutting down of any dissenting ideas has created an atmosphere in this country in which people are either afraid to speak their thoughts or they have been brainwashed to believe everything they are told. The progressives want TOTAL CONTROL of everyones thoughts and ideas. If they don’t get it, they get nasty.

I think what Jim Shulman is doing, bringing the carousel to Pittsfield, is so selfless and awesome. How many people go so far out of their way to make such a contribution these days? I believe this carousel will be a huge attraction and bring joy to many children.

If I had been mayor at any time in the last ten years I would have given a good chunk of the GE (in lieu of taxes) money to this project. It will be more of an “economic engine” than most of the other recipients of that money.

“We do know that once again, innocent people were killed in part because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no trouble getting their hands on a gun,” Obama said at the White House. “At some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this kind of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency. It is in our power to do something about it.”

Makes sense right?
To the politically correct indoctrinated mind, it does.

Is France an advanced country? Terror attacks are very common there. If they just ban knives, there will be no more beheadings.
ISIS is running wild all over the middle east and Europe.

If Obama wanted to get serious about terrorism and stopping ISIS, all he would have to do is ban the ISIS flag. That will stop it.

How dumb we were in WWII. We could have saved millions of lives just by banning the Nazi flag.

To an educated mind, that reasoning makes no sense.
To a politically correct indoctrinated mind, it makes perfect sense.

Its a good thing we now have a supreme court that twists the meaning of words and interprets the law along political agendas and anyway they damn well please.

The truth is that gun violence in down 49% over the past ten years in the US. A fact Obama convieniently left out. The agenda is to ban guns and if he don’t do it, Hilary surely will. With the help of the supreme court.

The solution is to get rid of the progressives, but the progressive agenda has spread like a virus so it has even infected some Republicans and Independents. We have to be very careful who we vote for and really know what their goals are once they get in office. If they are all about high taxes, banning weapons, green energy, and climate change…DON’T VOTE FOR THEM.

The most ridiculous ideas coming out of the Obama administration have included ones like ISIS could be stopped if we just got them all good jobs. I’m sure that banning the ISIS flag to stop the violence can’t be far behind. With ISIS recruits killing people just recently in France and Tunisia I think it’s more important than ever that the public could potentially save themselves if these attacks occur by being armed. By the time the police arrive, it’s often too late. More than likely, however, progressives will try to use the excuse of banning guns to try to save the public from ISIS attacks. I don’t own a gun and never have, but I think that people who want to own a gun should not lose their right to do so.

The Supreme Court was never intended to be politically correct. It was and is meant to uphold the constitution, but as the progressives don’t seem to care about the constitution, this is creating chaos throughout all branches of our government. This can’t end well for our country.

@Jonathan, it’s closest not closes? At the Planet…You hit the nail squarely there, fella. The ability to pay relative to the tax rate. These Progressive Pols think because New Porkers pay way higher tax rate we should be thankful ours is so LOw. NOT! It’s a totally different animal and the Progressives trick way of getting higher tax to maintain all the increases.

The Schools and the unions are the Holy Grail for increased tax, no matter what the employment climate or ability to pay. Newsflash, this only works where there are sustainable jobs. The current fiscal budget in Pittsfield is totally irresponsible, the easy way out was to raise our taxes. All City Councilors should go, two of them are already out. We should know how to take care of the rest.

Don’t worry Tammy, an 88 year old lady was arrested for protecting herself because someone got a wrong address.

If the poor woman had some connections she could have kept it out of the paper. The Eagle drools for real stories such as that. Probably called people in on overtime for that one.

Tammy brought up a great point. The Carousel will be susceptible to vandalism. It’s the Pittsfield way.

The carousel will be enclosed in a building they will put up at the site.

Independent Leadership: Vote Craig Gaetani for mayor.

Barring someone else with credibility jumping into the fray, looks like Craig will get my vote. And I am talking him up where ever a conversation allows. I hope he is working the senior center hard. These people have a large network and the ones fortunate enough to still own their own homes would like to keep them. Not all candidates are going to help them do this. Obviously not Bianchi as one can clearly see from his past four years of tax and spend like a maniac policies.

Every time I got to thinking, where’d they disappear?
When I woke up, Mom and Dad were rolling on the couch
Rolling numbers, rock and rolling, got my Kiss records out

I think Craig makes an interesting point about what local landlords go through with the scum of the earth tenants. Not all landlords are slumlords. There is however an overabundance of low life tenants in our area.

if Craig can’t collect his own rent? How’s he going to pay for essential service as Mayor?,,,,,

Your logic is illogical.
So Craig rents an apartment to someone who agrees to pay rent. They turn out to be a deadbeat. That disqualifies him to be mayor?
Seriously?
He can collect but he has to so legally. He is doing so by going to court.

If this is the standard by which you judge a candidate for mayor then no amount of common sense would convince you to overturn the suits stranglehold on Pittsfield taxpayers.

Anytime you make cuts something messes up and we pay more. just don’t see how he is going to be able to get those g o b votes that are essential for victory.

Now the secretaries are looking for raises. Do you think they learned anything from the teachers? Threaten to walk out because they know the administrators really don’t know how to do the work! When will PSD learn they have to cut back if they want to keep the excessive wages.

I would like to hear what you people think teachers ,police officers , firefighters , secretarys and DPW workers should be paid. You say they are over paid what should they get paid?

You would think with LOw and his misinformation and ridiculous questions to Bruce about the drop off at the transfer station, would finally allow the Ward six residents a sigh of relief that he will NOT be running again.

Chuck and Bos are good guys. You omitted that Larry was also an All Berkshire basketball player, 3 year starter. As for Tricia…there’s not much to say, she roared into office with a 40% plurality – thanks Pete White

Dan– a low turnout guarantees either of the two gob backed candidates an almost certain win in the election but there is something different in this election and that is that both gob candidates will be splitting the vote. Each has their own die hard election robbers and this is what I am hoping for. If just one of every three registered voters who didn’t vote in the last election will come forward this time ,I could overcome the gob network and win the election. One of the biggest obstacle for me is the Berkshire Eagle. Last Wednesday, I visited jim therein and hand delivered a press release to him that he said he would print. It has been five days. This is totally unacceptable and thank god I set up a meeting with both him and his boss Kevin Moran on july 1st at 10 oclock. If I accomplish nothing else in this election one of the things I am going to accomplish by any means I have available to me,is to insure that the Eagle returns to the days of investigative reporting and fair reporting during city elections. The Eagle is beyond any doubt, the source that most people particularly the senior citizens get their news from. This is a serious impediment to my campaign for mayor and will be the only reason that will cause me to loose the election because with all things being equal, I would be a landslide victor. As I have said before the GOB network knows me and their scared to death of me. In past elections, they put up their puppet with instructions to say very little. Well gob network, not this time. I don’t fear you or either of your puppets. After the first debate, they will be sure to wear diapers to the other upcoming debates or perhaps not show up at all. THIS time your puppets will be dealing with the master of debates. A whole new game is coming to town and you wont be playing in it. PV posters bring as many people as you can to this game as this is a game for all fair minded people and all of them should be invited to play.—sincerely –CRAIG

PV POSTERS–THE GOB NETWORK IS NOT AS LARGE AS MANY BELIEVE IT IS .IF YOU LOOK AT PAST ELECTIONS YOU WILL SEE THAT THE MAJOR REASON THE NON GOB CANDIDATES HAVE NOT DONE WELL IS THE FACT THAT TOO FEW REGISTERED VOTERS GO TO THE POLES. THINGS MAY BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT THIS TIME AS MANY CITY RESIDENTS ARE REALY FROSTED OVER THE VOTE FOR THE NEW SCHOOL THE EAGLE POLE FOUND THAT CITY RESIDENTS WERE 4–1 OPPOSED TO THE NEW SCHOOL AND WE HAVE TO HOPE THAT THESE PEOPLE COME OUT IN FORCE IN THIS ELECTION .YOU CAN FEEL CONFIDENT THAT DURRING THE DEBATES, I WILL BE PAINTING BIANCHI AND TYER WITH THE TAX TAX TAX PAINTBRUSH, FAILING SCHOOLS AND DEPT OF PUB WORKS, NO HINT OF EVER REDUCING TAXES, NO CONCERN FOR THE BULK OF THE CITYS RESIDENTS, NO TECHNICAL EXPERTISE WHAT SO EVER, MISAPPROPIATION OF FUNDS,EVER INCREASING OPEB TRUST ACCOUNT , OUT OF CONTROL OVERTIME IN BOTH THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPT, NO LONG TERM PLANING TO STABILIZE THE POPULATION , NO IDEA AS TO HOW TO ATTRACT NEW RESIDENTS AND ON AND ON. I READ SOME WHERE ABOUT TYER HAVING MANAGERIAL EXPERIENCE–WHERE? THE FEW PEOPLE IN HER CLERKS OFFICE? A JOB AS A SECRETARY IN THE LENOX SCHOOLS AND NOT MUCH ELSE. BIANCHI—HIS BACKGROUND IS NILL. THERE IS NOTHING THERE AND IN HIS PRESENT JOB HE IS A FAILURE WITH NO ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 4 YEARS AS MAYOR. AS I HAVE TOLD EVERYONE ON THE PLANET I KNOW THE GOB NETWORK VERY WELL AND THEY INDEED KNOW ME AND THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO RUN THIS ELECTION AS THEY HAVE IN THE PAST WITH NO SPECIFICS AND SPEAKING IN GENERALITY . THE DIFFERENCE THIS TIME IS THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH ME. HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT MS.TYER HAS SAID NOTHING SINCE ANNOUNCING HER CANDIDACY? THAT IS HOW IT WILL GO UNTILL THE DEBATES AND THAT IS WHEN WE WILL BUILD A SOLID BASE OF VOTERS. THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE ENCOURAGED ME WILL GET YOUR REWARD WHEN YOU SEE ME IN ACTION IN THE DEBATES. I HOPE A FEW OTHER GOOD MAYORAL CANDIDATES COME FIRWARD SO I WILL AT LEAST HAVE SOMEONE TO DEBATE.REMEMBER IT IS POSSIBLE TO BEAT THE GOB BACKED CANIDATES BUT THE NUMBER OF REGISTERED VOTERS WHO HAVENT VOTED IN THE PAST MUST COME FORWARD. I AM IN CONTACT WITH THE EAGLE NEWS DEPT AND I HAD A MEETING WITH THEM ABOUT UNFAIR BIAS TOWARD ME. I GAVE JIM THERIEN AN IMPORTANT PRESS RELEASE LAST WEDNESDAY AND HE SAID HE WOULD PRINT IT’. IT HASNT COME OUT YET AND I HOPE IT COMES OUT SHORTLY AS IT IS TIME SENSITIVE.IF IT DOESNT. I HAVE A MEETING WITH HIM AND HIS BOSS–KEVIN MORAN ON JULY 1ST. PRESS RELEASES SHOULD BE PRINTED IMMEADIATELY AND MOST OF MINE WERE NEVER PRINTED. I WILL GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. THE EAGLE PLAYING UNFAIR IS THE ONLY WAY I CAN LOOSE THIS ELECTION. LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND IS MY NUMBER ONE PRIORITY AT THE MOMENT KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR MY PRESS RELEASE– IT IS ABOUT THE ONE AND ONLY WAY TO MAKE THE ELECTION AS FAIR AS IT CAN BE— I DONT THINK ANYONE WHO IS LOGICAL COULD FIND ANY FAULT WITH IT. BIANCHI AND TYER WILL DO NOTHING UNTILL AFTER LABOR DAY BUT I AM ON THE MOVE NOW—PICKING UP VOTERS ONE BY ONE; I DO GO TO THE SENIOR CENTER AND LOTS OF OTHER PLACES LETTING PEOPLE KNOW THEY HAVE A REAL CHOICE AND A REAL VOICE IN THE UPCOMING ELECTION.—sincerely—CRAIG
