Thank you for this site Dan. You provide a great service to the community. While being outed does not seem to slow the political chicanery it is nice to be able to vent. And that is all we seem to have left here in Pittsfield.

Dan, thanks for all of your hard work to accumulate and publish everything on the site.
Someone should have thought that the location of the Skate Park near the P H S was a bad idea. But the P D C needs to nut up and realize they are the Authority when it comes to truant students leaving the grounds. This isn’t Rocket Science, keep the students in the School at all hours and enforce a Dress Code so you know who’s going where, no uniform, no entry. I’m starting to think the City wants mayhem everywhere to increase the Bureaucracy and employment, on that note we need to do more with less, especially when it comes to City employees, all of them!

I find the LLT thing patronizing and annoying. Give the new mayor a chance before you just label her another pretty face.
I’ve found her to be ethical, smart, pragmatic, and caring. Yes, I supported her campaign. Yes I’m biased. I prefer to think that my bias comes from listening closely to what both candidates had to say and how they handle themselves. I like to think that my bias is based on a process of critical thinking not having know either candidate personally before this year.
At the very least let’s choose to start this new year with optimism and grace a group decision for the good of our city.

You make a great point. I did not support Linda but I hope she can unite this great community. Historically in Pittsfield politics there has been the “in” group and the “out” group – maybe for once we have an individual with enough courage and fortitude to reach across the aisle and unite – time will tell. HNY all !!

Kathy Loyd-Yes you are biased and it is you who have missed the point. The incoming mayor has a lot to prove. If you got elected would you have been just another rubber stamp for Tyer? You are playing nice-nice and want to rub shoulders with the incumbents, in hopes you can eventually get elected.You remind me of Josh Cutler the school committee kiss -kiss. Incidentally–What was your platform during your campaign in ward -7? Are you are another Lisa Tully? All flash and no substance You would have filled in nicely with the others on the council. I have seen you sitting at many CC meetings You sit and take notes but I have never seen you get up and speak for the taxpayers. iF you are serious about wanting to help the taxpayers, help form a non -GOB-SIG brigade. Such an organization is the only hope for the city’s taxpayers. I applaud the fact that you want to be involved but being involved with the GOB’s and SIGs will not move us forward.

Let the credit go where it must. THE PLANET inaugurated “The Lovely Linda” during the campaign. It is a badge of honor to receive a PLANET moniker, and it was given with all due respect and the aplomb that should go with it. I, too, have found Linda to be all that you say, and, yes, you are biased. We join you in calling for optimism and grace as we start the New Year. In politics, though, memory is short and actions have become ALL. The key tests for the new administration will begin with the FY17 budget and whether or not if reflects the reality of Pittsfield dire financial straights, which were put there SOLELY by the engorged Pittsfield School Department. THE PSD has to be reeled in, financially, policy-wise, administratively, and within what takes place in the classroom and on school grounds. If not … well, speculation isn’t needed.

Time will tell. I agree on the badge of honor, although I still find the LLT moniker patronizing as it refers to her looks where TES refers to his behaviour.
I remain optimistic and full of hope. Both for our city and in hopes that someday, women can get nicknames that refer to our characters rather than our bodies.

According to J Mel over the years and years and years, he has told us of Number NINE and his hurtful remarks and bullying among the other stuff to others. Number Nine grew up ostensibly without a father, which may have affected him growing up. In many of J Mel’s accusations, we never here Number Nine bullying J Mel in front of his parents, which would explain a lot.

Someone said elimination of day hours during school at the Skate Park will errdicate the pot smokers and make a big dent. This is the Principal speaking.
Open lunch can’t be controlled and neither will kids coming and going as they wish. The Schools need to have private dress code,keep them in the building, no more free lunch. Doc Herman said he scoped the place out a few times but not to the point he asked the Supt. to move the tree’s, yet didn’t know they were memorial trees and seventy feet high. As far as safety at the Park, the guy you want to make decision on the hours is Cliff? Are you kidding.Tyer needs to start from day one, let all departments and officials know who’s calling the shots, tell them a new Marshall is in town, you have four years, get rid of these retreads as much you can on the boards and commissions, as many as you can. Appoint someone like John Fitzgerald who answers to no one, put Citizens on these board with common sense. It’s time to draw the line and get off the pot. Off topic, how many times are the same old homeless and or disorderly people going to be arrested or moved along, this is a serious issue, nothing but a Merry Go Round. Wait until the Carousel is rolling, talk about hang outs?

So according to the local misfit paper Mr Lothrup, who is leaving the city council (oh my!), will be “seeking” an appointment to another city board.
If he was working hard to help get the new mayor elected my guess is that he does not need to “seek” anything. I am sure he knows exactly what position he wants but is apparently keeping that under wraps but my guess is that it comes with power.
Is head of PEDA up for grabs? Big money and low expectations… sounds like a great fit.

The PPD has stated that they do not believe the recent knife holdup at Greylock Credit is related to the other five robberies in the past few months.

Alabama and Clemson will play for number 1 team in the country. Pro teams must love it. This is 2 minor league pro football teams playing for who is the number 1 in college. It is a farce. Who cares who wins, I don’t? Half the players will enter the pro football draft. No degree. Do they attend educational classes? You know they don’t. Stanford University has a kid named McCaffrey in the Rose Bowl. Watch him today. He should have won the Heisman but they gave it to a 240 pound halfback who in my day would have been a blocking lineman guard.

The best post of the entire year is the post from Joe Pinhead on Dec 30th. In not too many big words he sums up the entire Tyer campaign for what it is, A mere popularity contest.. This discourages very good candidates from runing for office in Pittsfield so we end up with recycled retread GOB candidates.When Guytony suggests that we need a citizen’s non GOB organization he is correct if we expect any kind of positive change. Folks on the Planet know who s right.Some see a nononsense individual who is not afraid to confront shaddy politicians.as a threat. I am greatfull that Pittsfeld has more than one watch dog. We certainly can’t rely on most of our elected officials to watch out for the tax payer. My hope is that more rather than fewer people get to exchange their ideas here. It’s obvious that a non GOB-SIG individual ruffles the feathers of some. But everybody should say what they believe. You will feel good. but some on the Planet can not be heard and this is not just.

I lost all confidence in the pompous blowhards who vote for the Heisman because the best ever running back, Jim Brown, Syracuse halfback,.was overlooked in 1957 for racial reasons. There was no other reason. I played against Jim Brown in 1953 thru 1956. He was the best ever, right to this day. Jim is the Babe Ruth of football. He was 6′ 1″, 220 pounds, fast, shifty, coordinated. He was an all-American lacrosse player, too. A fabulous athlete. A number 1 draft pick for the Browns, 9 years All-Pro with first year honored as Rookie-of-the-Year. Never missed a minute because of injuries.There may never be another Jim Brown.
