FORD v. KAVANAUGH AND THE U.S.: WHERE AND HOW DO WE ARRIVE AT ‘TRUTH?’

BY DAN VALENTI

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY OCT. 3, 2018) — As the FBI’s seventh investigation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh presumably winds down, the damage to everyone already has sunk to the foundation. Damaged stand the U.S. Senate; Kavanaugh, Ford, and their families; the political process; and the country itself. In the end, the Senate will vote this week. Kav will win narrow election to the Supreme Court, and he will join Diana Ross and her backups ASAP.

Will it have been worth it? What price, hatred? What price, this new politics of personal destruction? How on earth can we ever expect good men and women to run for office? How will we stop the onslaught of greed mongers and payroll patriots who see “public service as the bedraggled public serving the politicians’ selfish lusts for power and money?

Unless and until a new, higher standard emerges (which is nothing more to say than witnessing the return of such timeless principles as “preponderance of evidence,” “presumpti0n of innocence,” and “burden of proof”), the venomous partisanship that now characterizes the political process requires only:

  • the assertion of wrongdoing
  • by one person
  • unsupported by facts or corroboration
  • to ruin a reputation and blow up the tracks leading forward to national progress key issues.

Guilt now lies in the mere accusation. THE PLANET cannot think of a more disturbing derailment. The Founders wanted better than that. Of course, how could they foresee the cancer known collectively as “social media?”

———- 000 ———-

Christine Blasey Ford claims Brett Kavanaugh groped her clothed body 36 years ago at a high school kegger, when she was 15 and he 17. She offered no evidence. Kavanaugh categorically denied the assertion, yet the country came to a stop.

Forget the FBI probe. THE PLANET  has a better way to go forward by introducing some logic. In formal logic, there’s a principle called The Exclusion of the Middle. This states that there is no middle ground between truth and falsity. Either an assertion is true or it is not true. “A” and “not A” cannot both be true. Kavanaugh cannot have sexually attacked Ford and not sexually attacked Ford. So which is it?

Actually, no one can say, and we can never know for sure. Some things are unprovable, those that lie in the excluded middle, but we can believe them with faith supported by logic and common sense. For example, in math, as our good friend Chuck Vincelette will agree, there’s a theorem holding that every even number greater than two is the sum of two prime numbers.

Is this true?

Computers have checked every such even number past 300,000,000,000,000,000 (17 zeroes) and have not found one exception. So can we say the theorem is true? No. All we can say is that for all even numbers thus far checked, the statement holds true. The only way for us to arrive at actual, technical truth would be for a computer to check the complete infinite set of even numbers above two, in which case we would wait forever. It could never check ALL of the even numbers in an infinite set. The only way for the process to end would be if the computer found an exception. None has yet been found. Nonetheless, THE PLANET can reasonably hold it “true” that every even number above two is the sum of two primes.

In the same way, we can say that based on all the evidence and claims, Kavanaugh did NOT perform the act claimed by Ford. The Senate, FBI, and Aunt Edna’s pet poodle could investigate, probe, and check until the sun explodes and turns us all to toast, and they will NEVER be able to definitively arrive at technical truth. Short of that, we must examine the evidence supporting her claims — and there is none, at least none admissible by any standard of justice and fair play. That’s the best we have.

Kavanaugh’s like that even number greater than two. We can say he’s the sum of two prime numbers, and we can have faith in the truth of that declaration. That’s as far as we can go. It is IMPOSSIBLE for him to produce a valid legal argument that he never, ever, not once committed murder, let alone groped Ford 36 years ago.  It is IMPOSSIBLE for Kavanaugh to produce such an argument, and we can’t expect that of him. It is up to Ford to submit a preponderance of evidence to support the claim. She failed to do that. Her charge must therefore be dismissed.

There, you’ve got the truth. Now send Kav to the Court.

Once upon a time, 2 + 2 = 4.

Today, 2 + 2 = ?.

The new Clery Report was just released for Williams College. In 2017 there were 13 reported rapes, 13 “forced fondling” sexual assaults, 10 incidents of dating violence and 10 cases of stalking.

We can now update our aggregate rape numbers to 55 allegations in the last 4 years and 84 in the last 7 years.

And the most telling stat of all remains the same: ZERO criminal prosecutions in the lot.

All of you Caccaveillo supporters – particularly the hypocrites who feel so strongly about the Dr. Ford situation – when exactly is your candidate going to explain this? And why do you not care?

It sounds like you need Harrington to explain what Williams college did here. What are the continuing facts. Why were there no prosecusions? Are you saying the Dad office had a case to prosecute but was asked not to charge a influential student….your not stating why Capeless would not go forward.

That is the lamest deflection I have read in…well, at least an hour.

The numbers are the numbers. It is not incumbent upon me or anyone else to guess why Capeless and Caccaveillo decided to NEVER prosecute Williams cases. The facts speak for themselves and demand an explanation from the responsible parties – Capeless and Caccaviello.

Saying that Harrington “needs to explain what Williams did here” is the height of stupidity.

We’re giving you time to hoist yourself on your own petard, Krollero. Williams doesn’t release names because the victims don’t want to inform police. But since you won’t accept that, hoist away.

Yes, Marquis, you keep saying that, as if you can speak to the wishes of all these victims.

By the way, I checked out your FB page today and have a couple of observations for you. First, I hope you are certain that Lucas Jackson is actually Tim Walsh. If not, you have strayed firmly into libel territory given the accusations you make. 2nd, as to those accusations, I also hope that you are telling the truth about Lucas Jackson sending you “kiddy porn.” I looked at his FB page too and I see a whole ton of screenshots of your FB and old Twitter accounts. I don’t see any kiddy porn. If he really sent any to you, you should go to the cops. If he didn’t, and you are making false accusations and threats of prosecution, you should probably speak to a lawyer to see if that is a good idea. 3rd and last, I am wondering why you are FB friends with young ladies like Christy Scott, Lori Davis, Na Na Johnson, Erin Schilling and apparently many others. I looked them all up on FB and, sure enough, there you are on their Friends list.

Pretty gross stuff.

I am not “aware of what went down” in individual cases any more than you are. But I have become very aware of the overall numbers and the fact that it has been a long, long time since since a Williams rape case saw the inside of a courtroom. While the number of allegations has gone through the roof.

You and many others here don’t see very interested, but I would like to know how many complainants tried to pursue criminal charges. I would like to know how many actual investigations took place. I would like to know what the final dispositions were.

When I see people try to dismiss all this by asking “well why would Capeless do that?” I wonder if we inhabit the same planet. Human beings are inexplicable. And rottenness is everywhere.

From the “journalists” at The Hill:

“He [Kavanaugh] testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee that while he “likes beer,” that he never blacked out from drinking. The testimony has come under fire from a number of former classmates who have come forward to accuse Kavanaugh of misrepresenting his past drinking habits and other information.”

A “number”? Two”? “three”? “ten”? Name them then. They say they saw the guy drunk, but they really don’t know more than that. They have not seen the guy commit a crime, or much else.

“A number of other women have come forward with misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh, including Deborah Ramirez, a Yale classmate who says Kavanaugh shoved his genitals in her face during a college dorm party.”

Again, a “number.” We’ve heard from three. It is three. Say it, “three.” Ford has no evidence, no corroboration, and no clarity on anything. Ramirez has no idea if it was Kavanaugh. And Swetnick has got zero, nay, less than zero.

“[Jamie] Roche [freshman roommate of Kavanaugh] wrote in his op-ed and told CNN that Ramirez, who is a friend, is a believable witness and not fabricating the story.”

‘There is zero chance that she is making up this story,’ Roche said.”

Right, so you just assert that what she says is true, et voila, it’s true. You’re a friend, ergo, what she says must be true.

Again with the Stalinist assertions without facts, without evidence, without witnesses, without logic. Just what I FEEL is true. I like you (and hate Trump) so what you say has to be true.

Why? Because Trump sucks and his nominee should be defeated.

From the Weekly Standard, by Virginia Hume

“On Friday [9/9(?)], a group of women who knew Brett in high school sent a letter in support of him to Senators Grassley and Feinstein. I am one of those 65 women. Having seen some of the reaction to the letter, I’d like to clear up a few things:

“The letter was conceived and drafted by friends of Brett’s, and it was drafted after allegations came out on Thursday. I learned about the letter from a friend and fellow signatory. Others learned about it the same way. Those surprised at the speed with which it came together should see it as yet another testament to Brett’s excellent reputation.”

From CBS “News”:

“Soon after Ford’s accusation, 65 women who knew Kavanaugh in high school have come forward to defend his character in an open letter.”

65, now that’s a “number.”

Not sure what your point is. The guy found 65 woman he did not rape and got them to say he never assaulted them? so what?

I assume he did not rob any banks in India either but what has that got to do with woman who may have been assaulted when these 65 woman were not around to see it?

The point is that you don’t hear much about the 65, that 65 is a higher “number” than 3, that if people are worried about Kav’s character, you have some pro-Kav folks, and that the media is biased, duh.

Murrow as I said before you do not bring accurate information to the table. Just three? Are you aware that it was Scump who ran the investigation?Anyone who had any damaging information about KavaScump were omitted from the list of people to be investigated by the FBI. Now I know from your posts that you have a comprehension problem. Think before you post because you have been making a fool of yourself. I and many on this site prefer truth to lies. You follow a halfwit who has told over 5000 confirmed lies and decent people find that very troubling. One can only conclude from your posts that you will never accept the truth and that puts you in the same category as all other liars. These are dangerous people. I only wish I knew who you were so I could get a million miles away from you

And then a very large “number” or people have signed various letters of support for Kavanaugh: female law clerks, state attorneys general, and members of the Yale community.

But you don’t hear much about those from the “journalists” in the media.

Let’s be clear. There has not been an FBI investigation by the FBI. The so called FBI investigation was an investigation by Scump, Grassley, McConnell,Graham and Cornyn where by the witnesses including the most important Dr. Ford were not even contacted by the SGMGC committee. But be assured a real FBI investigation of KavaScump will be undertaken automatically right after an accuser files criminal charges against KavaScump for attempted rape. I bet that investigation will conclude something very different than what we will see from the biased SGMGC witch hunt. In any event if all else fails with these investigations of which one will be based on getting to the truth and the other trying to burry the truth there is one more deciding body who will determine who was telling the truth and who isn’t and that’s the american people on November 6. That will be the final say on this matter and I don’t think the republican power elite are going. To like their report.

ERM I have always stated your understanding of facts is very weak. Let me spell it out for you. The FBI investigation just concluded was a formality and was overseen by the dinosaurs mentioned above. In this type of investigation all that the FBI investigates or doesn’t investigate is determined by the Dinosaur pack aforementioned Translation for you: this investigation was a sham undertaken to produce results which will put KavaScuml on the court. Now a look at a real FBI investigation. First if KavaScump is charged criminally and he hasn’t been yet but indeed may, will automatically trigger A real FBI investigation lead by the FBI director with no outside interference from congress and Scump. This investigation will proceed just like Mueller’s investigation of Scump. They will take all the time needed and question anyone they want to to get to the truth of a situation and put together a report of the full investigation and submit it to the proper channels. The present investigation is as far from this procedure as it can be. The key here is CRIMINAL. It’s evident that you have some comprehension problems and I would suggest you think before you post. This is not the first time you have made a fool of yourself. The key tip for you is THINK.

One more thing EM. On the most watched and best show on pctv according to Dan Valenti the Gaetanis Pittsfield News Hour his most recent show is required viewing for you. He takes complicated material and reduces it to language that even people like you can understand. If you watched his Wednesday’s show you would know what he was getting at about the So called FBI investigation with KavaScump vs a real investigation controlled by the FBI. Now start watching the WIZ and get yourself up to par and maybe he will invite you to the show but don’t hold your breath because he hasn’t found anyone worthy of coming on to the show because he only deals with highly educated very high functioning individuals like himself and I am certain you do not fit that catagory. Another group he loves and tries to help is the taxpayers. I assume you are a taxpayer and if you are you are an ingrate throwing stones at someone trying to help you. 12 The Gman doesn’t care about politics and is the city’s most vocal opponent of local and national politicians. He tells it like it is and if you agree with him fine and if you don’t that’s fine also. All he cares about is trying to help the taxpayer. If he thinks you are a buffoon he will call you a buffoon right to your face. You have seen him in action at city council meetings trying to help you sheep. He has no use for liars and he doesn’t travel with an entourage like many officials in Pittsfield do because he doesn’t need an entourage. He is more accomplished than anyone in city government past present or in the future. He is the largest benefactor of all time to the city of Pittsfield saving Pittsfield residents more than all past benefactors combined. He states his position and then details why he has that opinion. Gaetanis doesn’t need anyone on the planet or anyone in this city and he doesn’t need anyone to vote for him but if he ever does run for office he will start telling lies because when be ran for Mayor he told the truth and we all witnessed how a liar won in a landslide. The Wiz is a fast learner and never cared about politics but he understands it now. Politicians win by lieing. He lost by telling the truth. He gets it now. When he gets it watch out. Like I said this so called FBI investigation was not. The FBI can not be blamed for the poor job they did because they were handcuffed and not allowed to do what they normally do. The orchestrated sham run by Scump Mcghan and McConnell produced the result they wanted and all the republicans are interested in is looking at a box that said FBI investigated and checking it. This was what this scam was intended to do and it did. Flake and Collins played cover for the republicans and they will be blamed for the civil war that is coming. A few days ago I thought the FBI investigation would be fair but the fact that no criminal charges have been filed against KavaScump yet the type of investigation that we got from the FBI was not like the investigation the FBI would have done if he had been charged criminally. If some accuser comes forward and criminally charges him everything will change. Lastly the most important deciders haven’t been heard from yet but will soon on November 6th

TSC we all know that this investigation is partisan but for the investigation not to include Ford and KavaScump is beyond comprehension to any sane individual. Some one says to the police that someone tried to rape them and the police don’t talk to the victim or the perpetrator. This is what McConnell calls a fair investigation. This is the type of justice that Scump has created. No one with half a brain would ever believe what has occurred but my friends it has happened. How much longer are we going to let this insanity prevail? Can anyone on this board truly say that justice has prevailed? If you say yes you are insane.

Chris Coons a very decent democratic senator and member of the senate judiciary was asked about Flakes vote tomorrow. He said he didn’t know and wouldn’t say if he did. I feel he truly doesn’t know. Flake stepped up to the plate last week for one of two reasons his conscience dictated he had to or he put the iceing on the cake and fiend that an investigation by the FBI was essential and knew exactly what that biased investigation would yield. We will find out tomorrow. I hope that he was sincere last week and if he wasn’t he will be blamed and his name will go down in history for making the worst decision ever made in American politics. We will see

Former SC justice John Paul Stevens just stated he was for KavaScump up until the day of the hearing and after the hearing said he is unfit to be on the court because of temperament. He said he came forth for the good of the court. This is the first time in history a former SCJustice has ever spoke out to try to deny confirmation of a SC nominee.

Delaware Senator Chris Coons wrote an article that bore the title: “Chris Coons: The Making of a Bearded Marxist.” Art I have a lot of friends who fought Marxists in Vietnam. You really know how to pick em.

Christine Ford is lying. Her therapist’s notes PROVE she has lied under oath and engaged in character assassination against Brett Kavanaugh. In fact, she has committed perjury and should go to jail. Kavanaugh’s nomination now hangs by a thread. Ford needs to be exposed and the mainstream media’s relentless false narrative refuted. Otherwise, Kavanaugh may go down, and with him the core American principles of due process, fairness and the presumption of innocence. Ford is a charlatan and a fraud. She is the very opposite of being “credible.”

Tomorrow we the American people might see the greatest travesty in modern times. But with just a few individuals who have the courage of Heidi Heitkamp who certainly could greatly increase her chances of holding her senate seat by voting for KavaScump has instead decided to do what is best for the American public. To get an idea of how the public feels about this situation Heitkamps donations into her campaign fund in the time since she announced she would not vote on KavaScump tonight has raised 4 times the amount of money she has raised since her re election campaign started many months ago. I am certain this will be in all the media tomorrow and all voting members in the senate might be well advised to think very carefully about this because this is the American people talking. They can pour tons of money into the campaigns of those who do the right thing for the American public and they will pour even more money into the campaigns to defeat those who are not doing what the American people want. I don’t know what will happen tomorrow but no matter what happens it won’t surprise me. Now that I have educated everyone as to the up to the minute goings on in this KavaScump situation I say good night.
