PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION AUG. 14-6, 2020) — Time to clear out the notebook.

THE PLANET GETS A HICKEY — We heard from our Right Honorable Good Friend Tom Hickey. The former council president and Gerry Doyle mentor took issue with Wednesday’s column. He writes:

Hi Dan,

In recent years it seems that the only time we communicate is when I have a bone to pick with you.  Today, once again, that is the reason for my email. I am afraid that I must take issue with comments that you made in todays (8/13/20) Planet Valenti blog. On several occasions you have stated that I indicated to you that my job was to keep the Mayor out of the combat zone. I take issue with that on several fronts.  First and foremost, I never said that to you or anyone else. If memory serves me right it was a commenter on your blog that said that.  I would hope that is not your impression of my contribution to the negotiations. 2. The City had one of the top 5 environmental law firms in the country representing us and by the way paid for by EPA.  John DiVillars, Regional Director, petitioned the main body of the EPA to support the efforts of the City and Mayor Doyle contacted Senator Kennedy they both came thru big time. 3.During the whole process, which lasted many months and constituted numerous trips up and down the turnpike at all hours of the day and night, we only stopped once for a celebratory cocktail.  Gerry, Jeff and I went to a place called The Hill Tavern on Cambridge Street just a few blocks from where the negotiations were held. We were finally able to close the book on an extremely difficult situation. Pittsfield was NOT going to be designated a Superfund sight much to the credit of my Mayor Gerald S. Doyle Jr. . We had one drink to celebrate . Gerry had a Jack Daniel’s and diet coke I had a Tanqueray and tonic and Jeff had a glass of white wine and we headed home. I can be specific on the facts (do not let then get in the way) because I kept a daily detailed journal that I am reading from now. Please feel free to share this with your readers as despite your and the blog followers comments, I am proud of what we accomplished and I have and  will always refer to my friend Gerry as Mayor. Rest in peace my friend.

Regards,

Tom Hickey

P.S. I have issues with other parts of today’s blog , mainly facts that will once again only get in the way, but I will save them for another day

THE PLANET shall keep our response to Tom private. In general, we thanked him for the feedback, refuted some of his points, and made a distinction between our personal feelings for the man, whose death saddened, and the former mayor, who failed in the position by leaving Pittsfield worse off than when he began.

———- ooo ———-

COUNCIL EMBARRASSMENT — The Pittsfield city council embarrassed itself with the marathon show trial of Ward 4 rep Chris Connell. As one poster pointed out, when the council has serious business on behalf of We The People, these clueless politicians need two minutes. Spending plan for $170 million? No problem. Rubber stamp. Homeless crisis? Table. But when a Tyer flack questions Connell’s residency, Marchetti and Company need 128 hours to grill the man only to conclude “Nothing to see here.” THE PLANET‘s message to Connell: Don’t let the bastards get you down.

———- ooo ———-

THE ARTS — Part of THE PLANET‘s summer itinerary includes the arts, not the touristy snuff offered to the lah-dee-dahs, but self-curated programs of listening and reading. Our greatest musical score has been to listen to the entirety of Wagner’s Das Ring Der Nibelungen, a suite of four operatic works running 15 hours. Towering, the greatest single piece of music ever composed. Our reading list included a biography of Friedrich Nietzsche, I Am Dynamite!; the May 1951 issue of Flying magazine; and travel book by Paul Kocak, Shades of Tuscany.  Kocak joins William Least Heat Moon and Paul Thereaux on THE PLANET‘s list of today’s top travel writers. Kocak’s gem can be read in a day, the next best thing to being in northern Italia. Kocak provides a tutorial in the economy of language. His elegant prose resembles poetry in the sense that every word moves the story forward. The brilliant Shades of Tuscany provides “a love song to Italy and Italians: an aria of affection and hope.” In COVID-laden times, we need all we can get. Recommended with our strongest nod. Shades of Tuscany can be ordered from Amazon as an “e” book or paperback.

———- ooo ———-

AND THE ARTIFICE — Barrington Stage, staggering through the Berkshires’ non-existent tourist season, keeps trying to light a match in a wind tunnel. Julie Boyd’s company, which kept the South County name to avoid the stigmata (can you imagine “Pittsfield Stage?”), made camp at the former Union Square. In its early days in Sheffield, the stage sold out by its daring. Today, it has “sold out” by pandering to aging audiences with safe theater. Hey elites and effites: The “arts” do not “matter” to a city that taxed out its middle class, especially with productions locals can’t afford. Barrington Stage features an online reading of a play, not the play itself, Judgment Day, on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m., available for viewing for 96 hours  through Tuesday, Aug. 25. Like “Black Lives Matter,” if this stuff “matters,” we’re all cooked.

———- ooo ———-

NOT A WORD ON HANDOUTS — Mayor Linda Tyer, despite multiple requests from THE PLANET to release a complete list of local companies receiving COVID Kash, refuses to comment. We leave it up to Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski to draw their own conclusions.

———- ooo ———-

MORE ON COVID KASH — Speaking of “free” money, THE PLANET recently heard from a local landlord, homeowner, and entrepreneur. Pittsfield received $1.5 million in federal grants to provide relief for city businesses (payroll protection to keep jobs) and homeowner/landlords (help for mortgages and rent payments). Sources say the mayor took 10% off the top as her “administrative cut” and sent the remainder to Deanna Ruffer, head of the Office of Community Development. The landlord reports he applied for funds in June. An OCD secretary told him it was too soon to apply. Mr. Landlord called OCD on Aug. 10. The OCD apparatchik told him he was “too late.” At least 62 city businesses received aid, the list mayor Tyer won’t release. OCD told Mr. L to call the Berkshire Housing Authority. He did … five times. Each time, the phone rang and rang. No answer. Mr. L went to the BHA website. No application for funds to be found. Welcome to Pittsfield.

———- ooo ———-

COVID CATROGRAPHY — A state map published in the Boston Herald Wednesday highlighted the Bay State’s COVID-heavy hotspots. The lone area west of Springfield: Pittsfield.

———- ooo ———-

KENNEDY WATCHING — THE PLANET wonders how many times our “Profiles in Courage” — state sen. Adam Hines, councilor Yuki Cohen, and D.A. Andrea Harrington — have been back to Springside Park, now that the homeless have been left to rot there, not a Kennedy or camera in sight? Godspeed, Ed Markey.
———- ooo ———-

HE’D WALK A MILE FOR A KAMALA — Kamala Harris? Who called Joe Biden a racist and sexist? Kamala Harris, who angered the women’s vote, especially “security moms,” with her support of Black Lives Matter? Kamala Harris, rated left of Bernie Sanders in Congress’s Democratic Caucus? Kamala Harris, the overrated overachiever? Kamala Harris, the queen of “identity politics?” THAT Kamala Harris?? Say it ain’t so, Joe. Trump now a shoe-in Nov. 3.

———- ooo ———-

Have a great weekend, everybody.

Tuesday, August 18th, 2020, is when Pittsfield politics decides the fate of its +60 homeless residents of Springside Park. Do they put a roof over their heads or will they let them freeze in the upcoming cold weather? Why doesn’t the lovely Linda Tyer use some of Matt Kerwood’s +$10 million slush fund to help these impoverished people?
Tom Hickey was wrong over 2 decades ago when he supported the horrible 2000 Consent Decree that sold the people of Pittsfield down the polluted Housatonic River. He was once head of the failed PEDA so-called “business park”. As I recall, Mayor Jimmy Ruberto ousted Tom Hickey from PEDA, but similar to all of Jimmy Ruberto’s costly decisions, it did not work out for PEDA. If you are still holding your breathe for a “Fortune 500” corporation to do business in Pittsfield, then I have a Rolodex with the initials J.M.R. to sell you. I feel sorry for the people who live in Lee and Lenoxdale who are protesting the proposed toxic waste leaky landfill like the one the late Gerry Doyle, Hickey, and Peter Larkin helped to put in Pittsfield abutting Allendale Elementary School.
“Dementia” Joe Biden, nearly 78, is way too old to be Prez. If he wins, Kamala Harris will be an important Vice Prez. Like “5 deferments” Donald Trump, Kamala Harris doesn’t have much foreign policy and military leadership experience. This is a history making ticket because Kamala Harris is the first minority woman to be nominated as a Democratic Party Vice President.
Trump is holding up the stalled stimulus bill because he wants the U.S.P.S. to go financially insolvent to achieve the upper hand in the 2020 presidential election against Joe Biden. Why would he do something so stupid is beyond me?
Lastly, (sarcasm): I was thinking of donating $1,000 of my would be 2nd stimulus check to the lovely Linda Tyer campaign, and spending the remaining $200 taking Matt Kerwood to lunch in hopes of getting my cut of their secretive “Kapanski Ka$h”. But I don’t think I would get a good Return on Investment. Maybe I should use Uncle Sam’s 2nd stimulus check to keep a roof over my own head so I won’t end up freezing to death on a cold winter’s night in Springside Park.

Hickey forgot, John DeVillian, of the EPA, took a cu$hy job at GE right after he “negotiated” the clandestine “deal” with GE.

Since Tom was in on this swindle of Pittsfield, he too must bear part of the blame. And Tom, were not saying this posthumously. YOU were a failure for Pittsfield.

Maybe we could name the barren moonscape of broken cement and pavement that covers much of the former GE site: “The Hickey Hell Desert”?, “Hickey’s Half-Assed Hagle”?, “Tom’s Tomfoolery”?,” The Hickey Hole to Hell”?,,……..

I would love to see Toms notes on the Civic Authority. For the 95 percent of Pittsfield residents who did not live here back then, you should know that, that was an attempted takeover of city government by the special interests. And the mayor and most of the city council at the time were all in on it. The citizens revolted and stopped it.

Sadly, years later, they pretty much accomplished the same thing by reinventing the city charter. You may think your mayor and council are there to watch over you but you would be wrong. Very wrong.

Before GE, Silver Lake was/is spring fed and the buried brook from Springside park (aka “Hobo”/Tyer enclave) ran into it. It had trout people ate. So did much of the Housatonic.

Hickey was into the sellout as deep as Doyle, as deep as DeVillian and the EPA.

I’m not surprised TEdward Kennedy was in on it too. He did nothing for Pittsfield, except this consent decree his entire life.

Neal and Malarkey/Lieawhatha mASShole Senators learned well from their mentor.

Maybe Tom Hickey, could come clean, and ask forgiveness for his sins? Nope, D-s don’t believe in God anymore…..

Dan there must be some way the taxpayers can get a copy of the list of Covid cash benefactors. If the mayor is going to such great lengths to keep this info hidden there has to be a reason, and not a good one. Surely the city council has access to this info and should be heavily pressured to provide it.
And I would also like to hear from the mayors mouth why she feels she does not owe it to the people who elected her, to share this information. This is bullshit.

and you know, this is why when politicians pass, some people say negative things about them. So fair warning going forward to politicians. If you shit on the people don’t expect them to give you a champagne toast when your time is up. They may say how they feel, and it may hurt your loved ones, but it will be YOUR fault.

Kamala Harris, who called all young people stupid who are between the ages of 18 and 24. So stupid she said that this is why they need dormitory assistants. Is this why the Democrats have used indoctrination into Marxism on this age group because they think they are so stupid? Kamala revealed the truth back in 2014 when she said that put down of youth.
Kamala Harris, who confused Ebola with being a pandemic when she was trying to put down President Trump. Only 2 people died in this country from Ebola she crowed while so many more have died from COVID-19 thanks to President Trump she said in a very nasty manner. This woman would make a terrible VP and God forbid a president.

Trumps personal kill count is over 150,000 and that is just for the corona virus. He plans to fill many more body bags with mostly grandmas and grandpas but also as many kids as possible to balance out his own personal horror show. And he is profiting all the way to the bank selling all kinds of pandemic products through shadow vendors.
And he really needs to avoid getting into word games with Kamala because she will chew him up. You know it too which is why your are freaking out about her Pat.

Nobody this incompetent should be anywhere near power in this country. Intelligent Americans know that China caused the death count and Democrats are shamefully trying to use a deadly virus to gain political advantage.

Thank you President Trump for another huge win with the peace deal yesterday. He should receive so many awards for this huge achievement!!!

You have Trump mixed up with Mario Cuomo. He killed off thousands of elderly in NY state by putting covid + patients in nursing homes.

He’s trying to cover up the scope of his carnage.

Kamala is the farthest left person in the US Senate, left of avowed Socialist Sanders.

She slept her way into politics with SF Mayor Willie Brown, a married man 40 years her senior. Great “family values”.

Look at her “performance” in the D-primary/circus debates. The group of stooges, including Biden/Harris, all: 1) Wanted open borders, 2) Love criminal aliens (potential voters) more than Americans. Want to give the criminals rather than US veterans free heath care and housing, 3) Support the green new deal, 4) Support NWO, 5) Their support of the 1st amendment is limited to if you agree with them (speech) and are not Christian (religion), otherwise you are labeled a racist and fascist, 6) They all want to do away with the 2nd amendment altogether; take law abiding citizens firearms but NO PLAN to disarm CRIMINALs,……….

Americans don’t want the above, and the lawless lame response the Democrats have given to Burning, Looting and Mayhem, “peaceful protests”.

D-run cities are a shambles and resemble a war zone. Their solution is de-fund police, and not to arrest nor prosecute looters and arsonists. LE is fed up with the Democrats, Seattle Chief of Police just resigned.

Best campaign ad Trump could run would be outtakes from the “debates”, and footage of the last 3 months of riots. ROFL!!!

She did terrible in the primaries and I haven’t heard any of my liberal friends show any enthusiasm for the pick. I don’t think it’s a ticket even liberals can get excited about. Meanwhile in some Berkshire communities homes are selling as fast as they are listed as the exodus continues out of NYC. Unfortunately those people will still vote Democrat when they get here even though the one Party rule destroyed their city.

Unfortunately they want to spread this failure across the country because these people are just not learning that this Progressive socialism is doomed to fail.

Dan I agree 100% with your assessment of the Doyle administration, and the time-consuming BOGUS investigation of Connell by the current CC. Keep up the good work Chris! The reluctance of the Tyer admin. to release the list of covid cash handout recipients speaks volumes so keep up the pressure. Pittsfield a covid hotspot? BS, as no one is in BMC or Fairview being treated for covid. Hardly a hotspot. News flash – pandemic is over. Kamala is the most radical senator we’ve ever seen – and could be one heartbeat away from the presidency. Trump will win by a landslide! MAGA!

‘The influence I would hope to have is to create an environment where we’re not singling Americans out – that we are creating opportunities for all Americans. Not saying, ‘I’m going to funnel money into your city so that you’re completely dependent on government.’

That is a quote from Mia Love, former Utah rep. I like a lot of her quotes about government and about the benefits of working hard. I wish we could get some small government types running who aren’t religious zealots or in the lunatic fringe. Mia apparently didn’t gel with Trump, not a surprise. Most of the immigrants I know think more like Mia Love than Kamala. I disagree with most of what Kamala puts forward. I don’t think I can vote for Trump as his volatility is just bad. For everyone. Pence is such a calming personally but he’s nuts. What another depressing election for America.

Finally got around to watching some of the marathon council meeting. Thank you Dina for tackling the hard questions all of us taxpayers have been wondering about lately like if Chris Connell’s girlfriend is moving to Pittsfield. Glad that mystery was finally solved! Mr Nick “I have had a million jobs, but still like the city health insurance plan” Caccamo also did the tough digging on Connell’s real estate transactions and timelines.

These clowns have not made one meaningful contribution on council yet found a few hours to dive into Connell’s personal life. Over the past couple of months Chris has been accused of being a racist by Persip, made fun of the way he speaks by Barry Tyer, and now living a different life in another state by other councilor members. I wouldn’t blame Chris for beating feet out of Pittsfield like I did a couple of years back.

As far as businesses taking handouts I think any person with half a brain can figure out which ones did and didn’t as they usually are the same ones always lining up. Support your long standing Pittsfield businesses, they are the ones that never ask for funding and are constantly beat on by the city.

You know, I am glad you brought up Carr. That place and the people that work there are fantastic. It really is a damn shame that across from such a great business you have to watch people loitering, yelling obscenities, and urinating in public while waiting at the bus stop. I would love to be able to conveniently park on North without being ticketed by the time i get to the kiosk, grab a coffee or bite to eat at Highland, and walk up and grab stuff I need at Carr, but the city make it so damn hard to do that. Add in that you have to battle a sea of drunks, druggies, wanna be gang bangers, and other misfits on North, it is way easier to just drive to Home Depot.

I still go to Carrs in PISSfield. Thank God they have their own parking lot. The staff can actually help you out, rather than the sheepish “where is the border collie?!” looks you get at Home Despot.

Plenty of parking at their Lenox store too. But the Center there has had begging bums at the entrance since they started “the Homeless Hilton” on South St.

I hope the Highland survives the covid-19 BS, and the cities parking debacle.

George’s shoes is excellent cobbling service. I’m sure his business suffers from lack of parking too.

Dave’s is doing a booming business thanks to Democrat pushed “gun control” and recent D-endorsements of Burning Looting and Mayhem.

As a long-time Pittsfield resident, I take offense to Hickey’s comments. I lived through Doyle’s terms of office and know what went on. Your write-up of Doyle was right on target and avoided all the crud that would offend his family. Hickey and the Doyle family should appreciate the fact that the crud has not been discussed; hinted at, perhaps, but not openly talked about by other Planet posters. Rest in peace, Gerry, and may your family find comfort and healing.

I wonder if with the benefit of hindsight Hickey still thinks the PEDA deal was all that and a bag of chips. The city got a measley mil a year for 10 years, and lost all that tax revenue year after year, and all we have is PEDA employees in the city pension fund and polluted land with the foundations left behind. At least they could have required GE to clean up their own mess for the measly 10 mil. Hickey, and any other councilor that voted for the deal was either stupid, clueless, or on the take.

At first I thought GE gave 10 million dollars IN LIEU OF TAXES. And on the surface that suggests that that money should have gone into the coffers to reduce taxes for the citizenry.
But I guess what it really meant was that GE was giving city LEADERS 10 million bucks to spend as they pleased, or to be used to reward connected folk like Hancock Shaker Village among others. So that is on me for misunderstanding TOM & JERRYS settlement.
Is anyone else old enough to remember when TOM & JERRY had their own cartoon?

Freddy didn’t care for Christianity himself, of course, but his problem was the Wagner’s hypocrisy.

Yes, it was Freddy’s sister who played him up to Adolf.

“Will to Power,” according to foremost Nietski scholar Walter Kaufmann, was just a bunch of notes, not a concerted work. But tell that to Marty Heidegger.

Already crazy + syphilis = really nuts.

The U.S. Senate is in recess until Sept. 8, 2020. The U.S. House is in recess until Sept. 14, 2020. Negotiations on the newest economic stimulus deal broke down on August 7, 2020.

Around 1,000 Americans die of coronavirus everyday. The U.S.A. is in its worst economic recession since the Great Depression in the 1930’s.

Anyone with a clue could have predicted this presidency was going to end in a major disaster for the country of America. The handwriting was on the wall during the campaign when Trump displayed his total lack of couth and intellect.

America is no longer America. The name is the same (for now) but the country is gone forever. And it did not have to be this way. this post will get its usual 10 negs but and those are the people who won’t know what hit them in a few months when the depression hits.

China, Marxists, anarchists, and radical Islamists in bed with the Democrat party are the people causing our current problems. The virus sent over by China to disrupt our country and try to get Biden elected. All of these people want Biden elected. Americans need to show all of these dangerous groups that we are not so easily fooled by the game they are playing. President Trump had a skyrocketing economy and they knew they had to take it down to win in November 2020. If they succeed in using this virus to win an election, they will have learned that sending a virus over will win an election every time. That violence in our cities will win an election.

Pat, as you know most of the people dying are minorities. People who might lean democratic. Trump knows this as well and probably explains why he is intentionally making the pandemic worse instead of better. Look up the word genocide.

President Trump is doing genocide? Please!!! CNN and MSNBC are spreading this evil theory? Testing increased and they then used that against President Trump. All of his daily COVID-19 briefings that went on for months were ignored. These people want someone like Joe who was going to flood the country with sickened people because it was racist to do otherwise. We are fighting evil in this country from these radical leftists.

According to a local newspaper with todays date, every Pittsfield school student will be provided with a laptop. It is like the Russian Doll thing in Pittsfield with kids getting free computers all the time.
I did not see mention of the lucky vendor and no words about kickbacks either. Curious if there is any accountability as to kids taking care of them or leaving them for the next student. But I would be willing to bet the vendor is friends with city hall and that this information will be locked up with the the names of business s that got Covid taxpayer bailouts.

And politicians wonder why people don’t trust them. WHOOO MEEEE??? What did I do?

Andrea also neglected to pay her 2019 Real Estate taxes. Since they are good friends I am sure the Mayor can give her a freebee out of her secret stash to let Andrea catch up on her bills. On a different note, just heard on the scanner that a “gentleman” just exposed himself and relieved himself in the 240 block of North Street, then proceeded to walk through it, so the Police were advised to “follow the tracks”. Welcome to another vibrant and dynamic noontime on North Street in the City of Pits. Since the City officials seem to have no problem breaking park rules by putting port-o-johns in Springside Park maybe they can get a discount to put some on our vibrant and dynamic North Street. Doesn’t North Street sound inviting? Can’t make it up, just read that Michelle Benjamin our City Clerk messed up AGAIN and forgot to put postage on 300 mail in ballots. Does any department operated correctly in this City?

Oooh, this could be fun.

How many teenagers who couldn’t afford decent legal representation has she sent to jail for weed, while her own kid smokes weed with abandon and gets arrested in other jurisdictions without consequence? 0.
How many documented cases of her ignoring a sexual assault by a local cop, and instructing her lackeys to make the case disappear? 0.

Time for lunch, but much more to come later. This could be fun.

Blare

Answer what? Your first 2 “questions” are obtuse.

1 -Yes, I believe you are correct that Harrington has personally prosecuted zero cases. That is a good thing. DA’s only prosecute cases personally when they want attention. Usually only high profile and/or slam dunk cases. Which is ridiculous. Who’s running the office during these vanity exercises? I would hope that the prosecuting attorney in ANY case at trial would be single-minded in their focus on that case. Makes no sense for the “boss” to be in that position.

2 – Don’t know what sort of distinction you are trying to make, but yes, Andrea Harrington has prosecuted a Williams rape case. The first one in over 15 years. With a conviction and jail sentence. That fact alone will make a difference. It’s funny, I thought that most people, especially your type, would accept the notion that once you stop prosecuting or penalizing a specific type of lawbreaking, you will get more of it. Why do you think that doesn’t apply in this particular case? For the same reason the you are willing to sweep aside a decade of horrible numbers – and stop saying 70, during the Capeless era the number of Williams sexual assaults was in the hundreds, with ZERO prosecutions.

3-Photo ops, yes. Not a fan either, but I see a distinction between questionable political behavior and, say, hiding exculpatory evidence regarding Bernard Baran, conveniently “finding” the evidence once one’s own ass was on the line, and against all humanity, refusing to drop the case for year after. That’s the work of satan, right there.

It’s also very telling that you are indifferent to the shit show at the Williamstown PD, as evidenced by that lawsuit. Capeless and Caccaviello worked with Chief Johnson, the alleged sexual assaulter and boss of another sexual assaulter (who was ignored by all), several times in the last few years to assure that all was well at Williams. Strictly as a means of quelling a few controversies that arose.

The guy who filed suit, Sgt. Scott McGowan, was the lead investigator for the WPD throughout this period. McGowan claims to be a survivor of sexual assault, someone who was offended by Chief Johnson’s behavior and attitude and the lack of consequences for the 2011 sexual assault by a colleague. All very confusing. Why did he wait so long to come forward? Maybe past sexual assaults weren’t prosecuted because he was over-ruled from above? Would love to know but I bet we never will. All will quietly disappear. The only certain memory will be the stink of it all.

You are so full of shit you’re eyes and mouth are both brown.
1. Completely false. DA’s not just ADAs prosecute crimes and actually go to court ALL the time. Not just for slam dunk cases or publicity but to lend their expertise and years of experience to cases that are difficult.
As an private attorney how many criminal cases did Squeaky have? How many hours of criminal court room experience does she have. It’s a small number.

2. Nope wrong again Squeaky didn’t prosecute that case, she sat in the back of the court room for an hour and played candy crush. One of her ADAs did. Why? Because Squeaky couldn’t even find the courtroom.
Because she lacks any real legal experience.

3. Oh you don’t think Squeaky isn’t hiding all kinds of evidence? When one of the most respected lawyers in MA, a lawyer that sat on the ethics commission quits in protest of Squeaky’s lack of ethics, when there are real complaints about her using her DA’s office and staff as campaign staff on public time, you know Squeaky would do anything to protect her job. The only reason she’s not been accused of hiding evidence yet, she doesn’t know what the word means and she wouldn’t know what evidence was if it hit her in the face.

4. Speaking of disappearing, we’re are the other Williams rape cases? It was her priority during the election to bring them up. Almost 600 days in and nothing. I guess she’s too busy not paying her taxes, flying to Europe for drug policy jaunts, flying down to do symbolic marches as a privileged white woman, using her office to schedule photo ops for Kennedy,
And who does the heavy lifting? Capeless… for free to make sure murderers stay behind bars. If she had a problem with Capeless as DA she wouldn’t have begged him to save her narrow bony ass.

Naw son we know what Squeaky is, another do nothing democratic hack. Not fit or competent for real work so she got her party to finally throw her a bone.

Dan,

In 1942 we could build a highway to Alaska through wilderness in 6 months.

MassDOT can’t fix a small bridge in > 1 1/2 YEARS.

That same bridge was redone by MassDOT not too long ago, Holmes Rd was closed.

MassDOT claims their new bridges are designed to last 100 years, seems they don’t last 40.

Who was last engineer/contractor on that bridge? They still on state payrolls?

The Empire State Building, from bottom to top, built in 13 months. I repeat – 13 MONTHS. That’s the building on 34th Street in New York City. It has taken Pittsfield longer than 13 months to repair Clapp Park from the damage done to it that squandered Larry Bossidy’s one million dollar donation to our city.

There are hundreds of bridges deemed unsafe or almost unsafe in Mass. The state is now broke and most of the cities will soon follow as a result of huge state cuts.
Fast forward five years and either a hundred bridges will be closed or someone will suddenly discover that a bridge is not rocket science. Maybe someone should send a picture to Boston of a caveman lying a tree across a stream just to jump start their design phase.

I sympathize with the neighbors of the Proprietor’s Lodge (letter in today’s paper).

I appears that the state regulations for the number of people allowed at any function is being ignored by the lodge. Good for them for taking pictures and videos.

But will these taxpaying residents see any reprimand to the lodge? Probably not. It appears that in Pittsfield rules and regulations are not the same for all.

But the owner should have his ass fined by the governor and shut the hell down. What a total lack of concern for the city and its people by the owner. Shame on him.

While they are at it start fining these commercial mowers that have removed the safety chutes. Just yesterday my vehicle got sprayed with grass and sand from a mower at BJs. Lucky for me there were no rocks or glass involved.
I get why they do it and sometimes lift my own chute if I am in an area where I know I will not hit a car or child with a thrown rock. So many petty things they go after but not this. You cannot legally own lawn jarts but these mowers without chutes are apparently OK.
