(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY NOV. 16, 2020) — THE PLANET understands the desire to go “all pandemic, all of the time,” and we will stay abreast of the local situation, but the country does have a little matter to settle. You might have heard of it. Does the “presidency” ring a gong?
THE PRESIDENCY
It appears Joe Biden will become 46, but that has not yet been determined. Biden needs 270 or more certified electors and won’t have any until mid-December. He leads President Donald Trump in projected, presumed votes and has an advantageous inside lane. However, several states still have not been settled including Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan, though the mainstream press has rushed to judgment and included them in Biden’s 306 (to 234) total.
Trump should continue his challenges as long as there is reasonable doubt about legitimacy of votes. Trump says that if only verifiably legal votes count, he flips enough States to climb to win. In Pennsylvania, for example, he had a commanding lead until the day after the election, when millions of mail in ballots were tallied. This came after the Keystone State’s secretary of state, just days before the Nov. 3 election, changed the rules and extended the expiration date to Nov. 6. Supreme Court Justice Sam Alito ordered those ballots sequestered not only for a count but also to determined if the 11th-hour rule change was legal. The state’s 20 electoral votes are at stake — a potential 40-vote swing.
If Syracuse Joe wins, he might have a failed presidency before it can even begin. He lost most of the cities Hillary won in 2016, with an invisible margin of victory in an election haunted by fraud charges. He will not have a mandate, with more than 70 million Trump votes, inherits a country in a pandemic and on the verge of civil war, and a radical arm of his own party led by The Squad nagging him to swing policy to the extreme left. He will face a GOP-held Senate and a House where Republicans showed healthy gains.
But will he win? The national media proclaims Joe “president-elect” when he is no such thing. There is no “Office of the President-Elect,” a banner that appears when Joe speaks. It’s part of a presumptive pattern of propaganda meant to instill a reflexive action with respect to the image as opposed to the reality of the situation. Fact is, there were blatant irregularities in the vote count, and they need a full, fair hearing.
“I do believe there’s voter fraud taking place in these places, otherwise they’d allow the observers to go in. When you have claims of 10,000 people who don’t live in the state of Nevada having voted in Nevada, the videos where, you know, they’re either duplicating a spoiled ballot right there or they’re in the process of just marking a ballot that came in blank for a voter,” Try Trainor said. “That’s a process that needs to be observed by election observers.”
Trainor is chairman of the Federal Election Commission. He mentioned that state laws covering election oversight allow poll watchers to be present when ballots are counted.
“If they’re not then the law’s not being followed, making this an illegitimate election,” the FEC head said.
After winning North Carolina, the path to a Trump win is as follows:
- Flip two of the following states: Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Wisconsin, or Michigan.
- Then have the courts discount all Pennsylvania ballots received and postmarked after 8 p.m. Nov.3.
Election irregularities include:
- Mysterious and massive vote dump in Michigan, almost all for Biden, after Trump had been all but won the state.
- An error in Michigan tabulation that gave Biden 6,000 of Trump’s votes, a 12,000-vote swing.
- Testimony of USPS whistleblowers.
- Sworn affidavits of many poll watchers who say they were denied access to vote counting.
- In Pennsylvania, 680,000 votes were received from two cities, Philly and Pittsburgh, well in excess of the legal mail-in rate not just for those two cities but for the state itself. Add to that credible allegations of ballot tampering in heavily Democratic precincts in those two cities.
- Software anomalies from voting tabulators with software provided by Dominion and Smartmatic. THE PLANET‘s IT guy explains that the process of “electronic vote erasing or changing” is relatively easy for a hacker with “mid-level” skills. To make it more suspicious, Smartmatic’s chairman of the board is on Biden’s transition team. Conflict of interest?
THE SENATE
It was a blue-plate special of a blue-state flop. The Dems relied too heavily on “tell-us-what-you-want to hear” polls and not enough on the situation in the field. Democrats poured money into contested Senate races in unprecedented amounts, to no avail. Democrats bragged about flipping the Senate, but it doesn’t look to be the case. Republicans have won 50 seats, Democrats 48, with two run-off elections in Georgia Jan. 5, mandated after no one achieved 50% or more votes.
Republicans David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler face Democrats John Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, respectively. If the GOP wins both, it will have a 52-48 Senate edge. If Democrats take two, they gain control at 50-50 with tiebreaker going to the Vice President, which at this points looks like Kamala Harris. If they split, the GOP remains on top at 51-49.
Perdue won 90,000 more votes than Ossoff, winning 49.7%. He stood at more than 50% until late mail-in ballots took him below the threshold and is considered the favorite.
Warnock took 344,296 more votes than Loeffler. The wild card in that race will be the 978,927 votes (19.9%) won by another Republican, Doug Collins. It would be logical to assume most of those votes will stay with the GOP.
THE HOUSE
Again, Democrats counted on an anti-Trump vote that didn’t emerge. They said they would add least a dozen seats to their 232-197 edge. Instead, the ceiling caved in on Nancy Pelosi and the Squad. Democrats failed to defeat a single Republican incumbent, while the GOP flipped nine seats. As it now stands, the Dems’ lead narrows to 223-206, a far cry from the 244-185 projection. The will make the Republicans a minority with pull.

Radical Democrats, led by the five nags in the Squad, prevented a decisive Biden win, lost the Senate, and eroded their party’s majority in the House. Biden’s first test will be how he can pull the party back to the more solid ground of centrism, where you find most of the country. Call it Taming of the Shrews.
For the party, Democrats need to retool. Some simple starters:
- Get back to center.
- Distance yourself from the “social justice,” “protest,” and & BLM scaries.
- Condemn looting and violence.
- Promote more candidates in touch with average citizens.
- Remember the middle class. They made you who you were.
Those who think Trump will give up the fight before exhausting every option haven’t been paying attention. Sunday, he tweeted in ALL CAPS that he won’t concede.
That’s his right, until the 2020 election results have been properly certified.

Well thirty new cases of covid in the last 36 hours, 19 reported in the last 24. This is the trickle effect of those same parties and zucchini’s and Methuselah not caring.
New cases are also being linked to some sports event and car pooling to the event.
BHS has made the conscious decision to send all but the absolute worst cases home. You pretty much have to be on deaths door or over 70 with other medical issues.
Having Covid patients in the hospital takes up too many resources and is no longer as profitable as it was before.
Schools are seeing a rise in numbers but by sending entire districts home, the reporting changes. If you are not physically in the school building it moves from site specific spread to community spread. South county just did the because the Super there knew they screwed up.
How does a child end up in school, in the population for days while sick? Somebody wasn’t doing their job.
What is the feeling on those clusters? Does contact tracing have a good grip on it or are there new ones that are popping up faster then tracing can get to them?

Contact tracing relies on information, the city never made local bars and restaurants get that information.
People with bars and restaurants have a vested interest or so they thought in stanying open longer than the should have.

How are you going to trace an asymptomatic patient in a bar who pays cash?

The contact tracing is really limited and not sufficient. Not enough people and not enough competent people.
In some places in MA they have made contact information and time in and out mandatory at the door. They didn’t do that here.
If you walk into a bar, they don’t take any info, you could interact and get infected, and no one would know you were there.
At house parties, it’s the same problem, friends bring friends.
A good example recently, some young girls hung out with friends and family, they went out to a house party, both sisters, tested positive. They interacted with dozens of people at the house party, there’s no list of people to even call.
At parties and bars the spread can be 5-10 new infections per original infection.
The MA average is 1:1.4.
The other problem, one location can generate hundreds of contact traces. Methuselah number of hours open x times number of patrons per hour x any close contacts (family, friends, people they work with)
Contact tracing can run down hundreds of names from just one hour at a bar, and still miss people.

There will be more, there are quite a few borderline that got sent home. If their pulse ox is borderline and they seem ambulatory, they go home. It’s another way to flatten the hospital “curve”. Every covid patient makes things six times harder and they are still worrying about infection with PPE.
Routine checks, beyond the hospital telemetry take 45 min versus 5-10.
We won’t have the staff, the beds, and if the percentage goes too high, the hospital shuts down elective procedures and that how they make the big money.
It will be 16 or more in a week. It should be more now but they are stingy on beds.
Without having any knowledge of how the tracing is conducted or done, wouldn’t those sisters be responsible to try and give that information to the tracers or reach out to them on their own to notify them?
Is there a feel for how closing restaurants will impact the spread locally? Or are we already past the point of getting a solid grip on it? Does anyone know anyone currently with it and how they are describing it?

Dishwasher works at a restaurant, his cousin is living here illegally, cousin has covid. Guy gets covid goes to work. His cousin looks “fine” is he going to admit on a trace that his illegal cousin lives with him? No. So all the tracing goes towards his work.
Tracing works if you have all the information and people that are competent in tracing so we are screwed.

Very little has been done for them. Some public health nurses have gone out, there’s quite a few with significant health problems. Some have moved on. Some have found housing but not many. The city has really abandoned them.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Licensing Board suspended Zucchini’s alcohol license for five days because of a wedding in August that did not comply with the state’s COVID-19 guidelines.
However, the suspension will be held in abeyance until the governor has declared that the pandemic is over, therefore there is no specific date of suspension at this time.
The city’s senior sanitarian Andy Cambi had reached out to restaurant owner Lynne Soldato in September to discuss a complaint received through social media about a gathering at Zucchini’s that did not follow pandemic protocols.
Cambi told the board that Zucchini’s held a 50-person wedding on Aug. 29 that was brought indoors, and in pictures on social media, it was observed that there was no social distancing and no masks being worn, and there was dancing.
Cambi said he went over violations with Soldato, sent fines for the violations and reduced the fines when they met later that week. The restaurant was told it would have to submit a safety plan for any future events.
Four fines were issued with a total of $2,000, each fine being $500. These amounts were reduced during discussion and Zucchini’s has paid $900 already to the city.
A similar event happened at the Proprietor’s Lodge in July, resulting in the suspension of its alcohol license from Aug. 30 to Sept. 5. Proprietor’s Lodge was not fined for these violations but was issued a warning.
In March, there was an issue with Zucchini’s failing to follow the COVID-19 shutdown rules that lead to losing its food license for 10 days. Cambi said this was
Zucchini’s warning and the reason it was being fined for this second offense.
After the first violation, Cambi said he had a clear conversation with Soldato about what was expected of her under COVID-19 restaurant guidelines.
Attorney Matthew Mozian of Campoli, Monteleone & Mozian PC represented Zucchini’s in this meeting. He said the long-standing, family-owned business is frequented by community members and is taking COVID-19 protocols seriously. Mozian said the staff has been trained to serve under COVID-19 protocols, wear masks at all times, enforce social distancing, and regularly sanitize their hands and all surfaces.
He said the event on Aug. 29 was a deliberate booking of less than 50 people. At this wedding, he said Soldato greeted attendees at the door and told them the rules of keeping masks on at all times other than eating, staying 6 feet apart, and not dancing.
“To be clear, this was not some wild party,” Mozian said. “Not some flagrant violation of any COVID-19 orders.”
The wedding ceremony was held outside, but with inclement weather, Soldato moved everyone inside to a large space separated by a fireplace that Mozian described as two rooms. There were 20 people in one room and 22 in the other before adding staff. Mozian said separating the wedding was a deliberate decision done by Saldato to follow orders. The attendees ate and then left.
“My client takes the COVID-19 guidelines very seriously,” he said. “They have since March. And that’s why they went through these precautions for this event itself.”
Mozian listed the protocols that Zucchini’s has put into play for safe dining, including having shields installed to separate diners, adding directional arrows on the ground, enforcing social distancing, signage reminders to wear masks, and offering hand sanitizer to patrons. Tables are not allowed to be moved in the restaurant as they are placed 6 feet apart.
Additionally, to avoid customers drinking too much and not social distancing, Zucchini’s now closes early.
Recently, Saldato has adopted a COVID-19 control plan in connection to her discussion with Cambi and submitted it to him in early October.
Mozian said Cambi told Soldato that the COVID-19 control plan she submitted “looked great.” It also has cleared events with Cambi, he said.
Soldato said the wedding was for a 60-year-old couple and that she felt she had done everything possible could to keep attendees safe.
She also clarified that there wasn’t a DJ, but music was being played on a speaker provided by the wedding party. Because of this, Zucchini’s fourth fine was removed.
Board member Dennis Powell made the motion to suspend Zucchini’s all-alcohol license for five days but hold the suspension in abeyance until Gov. Baker has declared that the pandemic is over. This was seconded by board member Dina Guiel Lampiasi and passed on a 3-1 vote.
The board concluded that the large space separated by a fireplace did not count as two rooms, therefore having 50 people in the space violated guidelines. It also concluded that attendees not wearing masks indoors aside from eating is a violation.
“This is a tough time and all restaurants and small family businesses and large businesses are doing what they can to follow the rules,” said Lampiasi. “I feel very strongly that we have to be consistent in how we are approaching each issue.”
