PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION MARCH 12-14, 2021) — The floodgates have yet to open on the Moon v. Harrington damned dam, but there have been considerable leaks.

THE PLANET has received information from both camps. They are obviously jockeying for position if and when an actual showdown happens.

Here’s a report from an inside source with intimate knowledge of both Helen Moon and Andrea Harrington. If THE PLANET had to put this person in one camp or the other, it would be with the D.A. We’ll call this person Heckyll:

HECKYLL: The two of them were very tight.  Everything Andrea does she does with the political end game in mind.  Helen busted her tail off for Andrea and the two became close friends.  So close that Andrea wouldn’t allow anyone to say a bad word about Helen, even when Helen messed up on the job.  Helen knew Andrea had her back.  So much so, she thought she could (and did) whatever she wanted around the office and said what she wanted as well.  Helen was the most hated person in the office.  Helen always want to be the victim.  She plays the race card and the women card every chance she gets.  Andrea still had her back.

Part of Helen’s job was to work closely with the Chiefs of Police.  When Andrea learned she was going after Chief Wynn on his budget Andrea tried to stop her.  She was told not to do it.  Helen did represent the DA office and should have known better than to do what she did.  Andrea finally saw her for who she was, yet she still tried to help her find a new job.  Helen wanted no part of it.  When Andrea tried to negotiate her departure with a reasonable severance, Helen asked for $150,000.  No wonder Andrea fired her on the spot.  Now Helen is claiming it was her lawyers idea.  Time for a new lawyer.  Or, maybe Helen is about to play the ultimate race – woman combo card and sue the DA.

Helen thought it was ridiculous to sign a nondisclosed for 4,300.  But a $150,00 of taxpayer money was just fine to keep quite.  She never mentioned the 150k in the WAMC interview.  Helen is out for Helen, of course, who isn’t out for themselves.  But to paint yourself as the victim, that is a Helen specialty.

Anyone who knows Helen knows how toxic she is.  To know her is to despise her.  She is always the smartest person in the room, no matter who is in the room.

As to the other firings.  To the victor goes the spoils. Why would anyone want to work and have to trust people who didn’t want you in the position?  The picked a side, they lost.  They should have expected to be fired.

———- ooo ———–

We also got heard from a Moonie, “Jeckyll,” close to Helen, who took issue with D.A. flack Andy McKeever’s claim that Moon demanded $$150,000 in hush money after being unceremoniously dismissed from her position as the district attorney’s “director of special projects,” an office, by that way, that Harrington created and never properly defined. Moon and former federal prosecutor Jeanne Kempthorne have said the position was purely political for the D.A.’s campaign office at 7 North St.

JECKYLL: Helen never demanded $150,000. It was the district attorney who offered money, $4,300. Helen asked what the money was for. Andrea called it a “severance fee” but it was hush money. Andrea didn’t call it that but that’s what she meant.

Helen grew uncomfortable with pressure. She couldn’t believe how much Andrea changed. The “Campaign Andrea” was the total opposite of “Office Andrea.”

Helen knew if she continued she’d might be placing herself in [legal] jeopardy. This is what caused the showdown that led to the firing. The $4,300 backfired. Helen said she couldn’t be “bought off” for any amount. When McKeever came out with the $150,000 claim, it shocked me. That never happened. I think the $4,300 was to come from Andrea’s campaign cash laundered through the D.A.’s office.

———- ooo ———-

THE PLANET closes by quoting a courthouse wag: “Guess this answers the claim that if you put women in charge, everything will automatically be turning up roses.”

Have a great weekend, everybody.

Law and order is obviously a good thing. Certainly there needs to be individuals who are prepared to deal with societies problem children. Having said that though, the police need massive reform, in fact, the sort of reform that will never happen because nobody has the stomach for it, even if they were willing to listen to reason and come to terms with the fundamental problems, which they’re not. More funding means more of the same old same old.

I’m all ears Nut. What reform do the police need?

Any chance some of these groups who feel police need reforming will ever take accountability for their own actions?

Some ideas come to mind: quit glorifying drug dealing. I’m curious if Shirley Edgerton ever talks about the scourge of drug dealing a few of her family members took part in? Does she ever talk about the lives ruined by her family members? Or is it all “white privledge?”

Celebrate education and learning. Quit shaming those members of your community who actually want to make a difference through education, rather than just speaking points for an audience.

It should NOT be the role of government to keep people safe. The idea that it’s good that the police are empowered to enforce all manner of statutes in the name of safety, which nobody is legitimately liable for by the way, is extremely problematic. It opens the door to all manner of abuse, and it’s the main reason why people are forced to wear masks.

People must be held accountable for the harm they cause to others because of their bad choices. When a broken taillight turns into a vehicle search, and someone ends up having a problem which needs to be dealt with in a de facto court, and nobody is claiming personal injury, that’s a violation.

Attempting to micro manage society in the name of safety is not sustainable because shady individuals develop ideologies which assist them in seizing power over people, industry, politics, etc…, all in the name of safety.

Most statutes can be converted to guidelines, and if it can be proven that the guideline was crossed and as a result someone was injured, stiff penalties. The government is not liable for the poor choices that individuals make, in much the same way that human beings are not liable for the behavior of viruses, unless it can be proven that the virus was actually a man made bio weapon.

Nobody is obliged to wear a mask in order to keep other people safe. It’s incumbent upon those who have concerns to take the necessary precautions to take responsibility for themselves.

People are getting tired of the police pulling them over in the name of safety, and if your not completely fed up with being forced to wear a mask in the name of safety, just give it some more time, you’ll fatigue.

May I suggest you take a government class? The politicians ordered the lockdown, not the police. The mayor is the police chief’s boss.

As far as your broken tail light turns into a search? My suggestions to you would be (1) have your car in good working order, (2) make sure its properly registered and insured, and (3) do not commit a crime that warrants a search.

If you can’t do that, don’t drive and you won’t get searched. It’s really simple if you adhere to the laws. Just a thought?

I’ve been stopped a few times. Got a ticket or two, but never got searched. Why not you ask? I didn’t have illegal drugs, weapons, was drunk, when I got stopped.

Does not matter that you didn’t have drugs or weapons. You don’t not get searched because you don’t have weapons or drugs. They like to search in order to see if you have drugs or weapons.

Planet Valenti said that we need statutes in order to keep people safe and as an example he stated that we can’t have people speeding down north street at 110 mph.

Number one, statutes don’t stop people from doing dumb things. While it’s true that if speed limits were not enforced, many people would drive faster, it does not mean that people can’t be held accountable for serious bodily injury due to their unsafe actions.

Number two, if safety was truly the concern with regards to the inherent dangerousness of vehicles, then why are the vehicles not governed? Why allow auto manufacturers to build vehicles which are capable of speeds which far exceed posted speed limits?

Number three, I don’t consent to being taxed on my labor in order to be provided the service of safety, when that service means I get pulled over at 2:00 in the morning on a deserted country road and ticketed because I was going 52 in a 40. Not only that, but where are the police when you actually need them? Sure, they can arrive on the scene ten minutes later, when all the carnage is already done, but I hardly see how that cost vs. benefit can be justified.

Number four, statute enforcement is a means of revenue generation and this is outrageous. The police should never ever be looking to ticket people as it’s predatory in nature.

Number five, when government gets away with being the nanny and the safety provider, it’s inevitable that this sort of relationship will get out of control.

What freedom loving individual can honestly say that it’s ok for one man to force another man to wear a mask in the name of safety?

The police have too much power, and a cut in funding can run in tandem with a redefining of their role. The police need to leave people alone, unless and until someone really needs to be dealt with.

As far as Moons motives, only she knows that, but there’s clearly a serious problem with the police and it needs to be addressed. Defunding the police while at the same time failing to redefine their role will result in a substantial increase in predatory statute enforcement for the purpose of making up lost money. That situation would be a catastrophe, for the police, and the people. Moons motives at the very least should be suspect, because, there’s clearly an agenda to pit the police against the people, and this country can’t afford an escalation of that sort.

1)?Reversal of Warren v District of Columbia – police have no duty to do there job- eg the cowards of broward county , not engaging parkland school shooter – relinquist will go down as second worst Chief Justice-

2) severely limiting qualified immunity
Great article by professor ramires and Marcus Wright in Boston globe.
“ the dark side of qualified immunity “

3) Require officers to carry liability insurance, with every indiscretion the rates will go up- safe policing points for officers without complaints

4) independent over site Committees with subpoena powers , if needed – after investigations are completed- the results are public records.

There’s a starter policy
Which will look like national police reform after lawsuits against cities towns states and federal government
Begin to really bother citizens. The George Floyd settlement of 27 million $
Is tiny compared to suit against FBI( famous but incompetent) Springfield Massachusetts failure to make parkland area aware of perpetrators families nearly constant warnings.
FYI Judge Smyth of district court former federal prosecutor for Springfield DOJ
( passed torch to Deepika Shukula – who also failed to respond to pleas for help with women falling victim to local law enforcement ( I warned repeatedly as Sheri Lynn Hayes could get no relief prior to her death 11/23/2019 which I warned she and FBI supervisor August 2019 of police and court I’m conduct) whom received a judgeship from devil Patrick in exchange for him compromising federal investigation into Berkshire County judiciary. 3/13@9:18

The COVID bill isn’t helping all Americans equally. Tell me how 4 billion dollars in aid to minority farmers ONLY is helping all Americans. It’s not and it’s not fair. This is reparations not helping all Americans. The majority of the bill is to further the far left Progressive agenda and NOT to help Americans suffering from the COVID pandemic. It’s for Nancy’s artsy friends and to bail out poorly run far left states.

Andrea ran on campaign promises to correct the institutional corruption of Berkshire county district attorneys office.

She chose politics over public safety and honoring campaign promises. Moon chose integrity, which is what the leading law enforcement officer Needs and is still lacking in the office.

Most in Berkshire County understood Harrington was a chancy bet, but so disheartened by the status qou they elected Harrington. 2022 will bring the change required to the office, next DA will completely clean house, which If Harrington Listened to
Jeanne Kompthorne and Moon she would not have a rival in reelection bid.
DO YOUR JOB ! So simple.

Moon and Company timed it to eliminate Ben Downing from Governors race.
His father a large part of the problem, embracing police misconduct. Look for him to withdraw from race, to preserve his lobbying potential to the Green energy sector. His reluctance to embrace meaningful police reforms, was a fatal mistake. It will remain a core issue,

Politos involvements in elections through out the commonwealth ( being laid bare by Dr Shiva in present federal court battle) much like attempting to protect Caccaviello Bakers chosen candidate, repeated again in 2020 cycle. Skeletons Ending her political career, as she and Faker are on Trumps list of those to be primaried. It’s Dr Shivas office if he wants it, Massachusetts seeks change. he may be it.

Maura Healey is on Trumps to do list, and like Coumo and so many Other attorney general’s who harassed him, will be exposed and prosecuted.

Like him or hate him, Trump plays to win, and is still most powerful force in Republican Party. His new lawsuit against CPAC, will leave him as lone voice and America first as a United Republican Movement for 2022 and beyond.

Moon chose integrity? Questionable, because of her own Boston police episode and that would involve her having integrity to clear it up ,whether good or bad for herself. You can’t bring integrity to one place and leave it at another. Andrea played the campaign fiddle of change to get into the DA’s office as law enforcement was being painted a complete scourge across the country and right here in BC. They both deserve what they get , if they get anything at all.

I liked your post. It’s pretty informative, but not 100% accurate. I’m with JS2 on this. Moon has integrity? She lied about a fake arrest to try and garner racial sympathy and bring shame on the Boston Police Department. Why? And if recent reports/posts are correct, she even tried to shake down the DA’s Office for $150k-Taxpayer Money. This tells me, if the price was right, Moon would have been bought off.

That’s integrity?

Helen Moon absolutely asked for $150k. It’s not even a disputed fact. The money was not going to come from the campaign, it was going to come from the DA budget as severance. That’s how stupid Andrea was and is.
Andrea did not protect Helen in anyway except for making up the job and bringing her Jr campaign manager into the office. Any “protections” given to Helen were solely to protect Andrea’s money train. By bringing Helen, Andy, and Dina into the office Andrea had a full time campaign staff on State, not campaign payroll.
Helen Moon was actually pretty humble at work. She asked for help, she worked with people, she admitted that she wasn’t really sure what she was supposed to do (ask for the job description there was one but it was so full of BS language it could have been any job). If she didn’t understand something she readily admitted it.
No just because you supported the other candidate, doesn’t mean you should be fired. The DAs office has been apolitical for decades until Andrea Harrington came along. They are all Democrats, same party, just different levels of competence. The public ended up with the least competent and most political of the candidates.
The most toxic person in the room, now and forever, is Andrea Harrington. Her toxicity is based in her incompetence and fear, anyone with more knowledge or a better idea is a threat.
Anyone that can see through her charade, a threat, so that makes 99.999% of the planet a threat.

The ADAs that left, Kempthorne leaving, her replacement leaving, they all have stories to tell.
The story is the same, Harrington turned the DAs office into a campaign office, that’s why they left.
As a lawyer with zero legal experience, Harrington would often pop in to some of the more junior DAs work areas and give “legal advice” that was so off the mark it was laughable if not because it came from the DA.
Rich would sometimes follow behind and just tell them to ignore her.

Neither of these people quoted in the article know what they are talking about.

The place was a total cat house ask Dana and Rob. It’s a great narrative, but working in the office it has never been better. The staff is happy the toxic crowd has been replaced.

Most of the staff was in total fear of Capeless that is when he wasn’t playing tennis or breaking up the fight club. Paul was a good guy The Stunt Capeless pulled to put him into office cost him the DA’s job as well as the cast of miserable players that were assembled to run his campaign and we new we were doomed. Moon was humble at work? sorry but that is not true whatsoever. Moon and Kempthorne hated each other period. Kempthorne tried to quit many times over Moon being in the office But Harrington always tamed things down. This is fact!

Many people in the office were given jobs not for the experience but who they knew or what position in law enforcement family was in right Kim? i could go on but people were just tired of the good old club that was the DA’s office for 30 years.

Considering all the blowout recently, this sounds a lot like Andy playing make up a story for Nipples.

In 30 years there’s never been the commissioner of the ethics commission publicly call out the DA and quit.

Let’s recap:
No criminal experience
Lied about her resume
Fired competent people
Didn’t pay her taxes
Hasn’t followed up on the massive rape “cover up” as she called it at Williams college.
Was served papers for credit card debt
Uses her office as a campaign office.
Was called out by probably the most ethical lawyer in MA.
Was called out by her replacement.
Still hasn’t added any real courtroom experience to her fake resume.
Failed to pay a speeding ticket, got her license suspended.
Got pulled over and used her position to get out of it.
Used state resources and staff to get her license reinstated.
There’s so many more but I’m tired of typing.

Seems like lots of people were given jobs as political favors. The poster boy is Andy Mckeever His coverage of the DAs race for iberkshires should have had him investigated by every journalistic ethics commission possible. He VERY CLEARLY shilled for squeaky and then took his job atop mount olympus. He has no place anywhere that requires integrity. If she goes, he deserves to take a ride on the unemployment line. I can’t imagine any place would hire him around here if they had any integrity themselves.

President Biden not giving any credit to President Trump for the warp speed COVID vaccine is disgusting. It shows the petty and spiteful way that Biden is leading this country. New York Governor Cuomo had all the field hospitals and military ships that President Trump provided, but still he sent COVID infected patients back to the nursing homes. Why? The high COVID death numbers are mainly of the elderly. The CDC refused to fast track the therapeutic antibodies to hospitals for the 2nd wave of the virus until weeks after the presidential election. Why? Biden has no moral high ground to criticize anyone when he said it was racist to shut off travel from China when President Trump did so in February 2020.

China is the culprit and a mass murderer who killed millions because they chose to protect their own country and had nothing but contempt for the rest of the world. Dear Greedy Lobbyist Daniel Bosley,

I thought I would pass along Brooks Ballenger’s letter to the Editor of the Daily Hampshire Gazette that shoots down your biased op-ed praising PAC Man Richie Neal’s bill to stop surprise medical billing. Dan Bosley is a Beacon Hill registered GREEDY Lobbyist who makes a 6-figure salary representing K Street-like lobbyist firms in Boston. On top of Dan Bosley’s 6-figure lobbyist salary, he also collects his taxpayer-funded state government pension and public perks. Dan Bosley makes his money off of Massachusetts’ taxpayers. PAC Man Richie Neal is K Street’s most corporate friendly Congressman on Capitol Hill. PAC Man Richie Neal takes in millions of K Street corporate lobbyist dollars every year. The irony of Dan Bosley, who represented North Adams, and Richie Neal, who represents Springfield (Mass.) is that their respective legislative districts have nothing in common with K Street-like and K Street lobbyist firms. I said to my brother, guess what most of the politicians do over 20 years after our dad was a Berkshire County Commissioner? My brother answered me, I bet they are all lobbyists. I responded, that is right. Dan Bosley, Peter Larkin, Stan Rosenberg, et al, are all GREEDY lobbyists who also collect state government pensions and public perks on top of their 6-figure lobbyist salaries. Why do the voters of Western Massachusetts elect these self serving political hacks? The people who live in Western Massachusetts are totally disconnected from PAC Man Richie Neal, GREEDY Lobbyist Daniel Bosley, GE corporate shill Peter Larkin, and Stan Rosenberg.

In Truth!

Brooks Ballenger: “Bills for out of network services”
The Daily Hampshire Gazette, Letter to the Editor, 3/10/2021

“Surprise billing” happens when someone is provided a medical service like an ambulance ride and then receives a big bill because the service was ” out of network.” Although the patient may have been unconscious and never told that they were receiving an “out of network” service, they are forced to pay. This has been a big money maker for medical staffing investors like Blackstone Group and KKR.

Lobbyist Daniel Bosley recently wrote thanking Richard Neal for ending surprise billing. He didn’t mention that Rep. Neal blew up an earlier bipartisan deal to fix surprise billing in 2020. Instead Neal and Republican Kevin Brady of Texas helped insert the current deal which prevents most surprise bills to individuals but also allows medical staffing companies to maintain many of the profits they make by springing giant bills on unsuspecting patients. The cost of the savings Neal secured for the staffing firms will be absorbed by the health insurance companies, which will probably respond by raising premiums for everyone.

The “Coalition Against Surprise Medical Billing, ” including Blue Cross Blue Shield Association as a member slammed the deal, calling it “a gift for private equity firms.” In the fourth quarter of 2019, when Neal blew up the bipartisan deal, his joint fundraising committee brought in $54,000 from lobbyists for companies and trade groups that opposed it, including Blackstone, KKR, and Physicians Advocacy Institute. In addition, Neal benefited from more than $300,000 worth of digital ads from the American Hospital Association, which sides with providers because many of its member hospitals have profit-sharing agreements with their staffing firms that allow them to share the benefits when they can charge more.

I’m not ready to thank Rep. Neal for his actions.

Throwing money into this black hole is not the answer. Too many buildings, too many “counselors”, too little instruction in core subjects and not enough discipline.
Curtis, alias Mr. Data, is not the one to lead the PPSD out of level 5 – he has no human relations skills and is focused on analytics instead of education. We need an experienced supt. from outside the city with fresh eyes and a commitment to restore our schools to their former glory.

Moon vs Harrington will be the main card. The undercards I’d put up in rankings from strongest (fight before Moon/Harrington) are: Mazzeo vs Tyer, Country Buffet vs Marchetti (both same weight class), Melle vs Nucifero, Morales vs White (we want to be inclusive, dynamic, and not shut out the LBGTZEWDQ group).

The early lines:

Helen “She’s full of $hit” Moon is a 3/1 favorite over Andrea “Wrong Way” Harrington.

Melissa “The Cook” Mazzeo is a 5/1 favorite over Linda “Lock Down” Tyer.

Tricia “Never met a cupcake I didn’t eat” Country-Buffet is a 15/1 favorite over Peter “The Rainbow Warrior” Marchetti.

Jonathan “Slush Fund” Melle versus Andrea “Weed Maps” Nucifero is even money.

Ricardo “Affirmative Action Hire” Morales is a 20/1 favorite over Peter “The Houseless Savior” White.

Place your bets!!

Walked into an establishment today that does not ask its customers to wear masks. Some guys who were in the firearms section of the store were talking, and the only guy who was wearing a mask was telling the other guys about a podcaster who knows what’s really going on, and this podcaster claims that Trump is with the high command, whatever that means, and any day now Trump is gonna take charge with the military and throw these rascals out of office. This masked avenger was telling all these guys that they needed to listen to this podcaster.

I told this masked avenger that he wasn’t in a position to discern anything because he believed in any old nonsense he was told, and pointed out to him that his mask was speaking volumes, so, he didn’t need to say anything else.

Everyone looked like they saw a ghost, and nobody knew what to say lol

It’s obvious that Nance Pelosi is running the show in Washington. We saw Joe turn to her this past week and ask for her permission in taking questions from the media. “Whatever you want Nance. Is that what I should do?” he said as he looked weakly into the camera. Nancy puts a smile on her face like the cat that ate the canary and suddenly we lose the camera feed completely. Joe Biden is in the early stages of dementia with lots of forgetfulness and is leaning on others to make his major decisions. He can read from a teleprompter, but taking questions will show just how far along he is in this debilitating disease.

Many of the far left are too far gone so there is no reasoning with them. They will control Biden behind the scenes as this video leaked that they are doing. It’s really not humane how they are propping up Joe Biden, but ramming through their agenda is their goal and using his obvious mental impairment to do it. So many knew of this dementia, but hid it from the public. His wife, his doctors. I have elderly friends and relatives who were easily diagnosed with having dementia. I recognize all of the symptoms in President Biden.

Nobody on the left and even some on the right will discuss the fact that we have a president who is in cognitive decline and yet the fate of our country and maybe even the world is on his shoulders. Some Republicans are making excuses and saying that everybody forgets and it will happen to you someday. They just don’t see how this is not a simple case of forgetting a name from time to time. President Biden couldn’t remember the word “pentagon” the other day. He is depending on others, especially the women around him, to make his decisions. He didn’t need to ask permission to take questions. He is the president of the United States.

Nobody on the left or even on the right wants to discuss the seriousness of this issue. How the fate of our country and even the world rests on the shoulders of a mentally impaired president who is obviously looking to others to make his decisions for him. He’s the president. He doesn’t need to ask permission to take questions from the media, but Pelosi and company know they need to hide his mental frailness.

The name of the game is, dehumanize. Get everyone to come to heel, like dogs. When people do what they’re told to do, and it’s known that the order makes no sense, a deep seated genuine lack of self respect is generated. The disempowerment that comes as a result can really create havoc and inner turmoil. A conflicted, confused and disempowered human is a easier to control, for a little season anyway. Instilling fear into people works wonders for the manipulator, right up until the fear turns to anger, and then anger is a good friend, a helper, providing the means with which to stand up. Standing up might be a good thing, unless it’s anticipated, or worse, desired. If it’s desired, then perhaps standing up should be avoided. If it’s avoided, then what, why?
In the end, there’s always something to be said for listening to the gut, the heart, and ignoring the mind, and all the unending chatter. Like Martin Luther King said, “you don’t have to see the entire staircase, just take the first step in faith”.

Moon for Moon

I have worked in the DA office under four administrations. I also live in ward 1 and Helen Moon is my ward councilor. I voted for Paul, I campaigned for him, and I miss many of my former colleagues. I was fortunate to stay, but that’s what happens during elections. The Hampden county DA fired everyone and started fresh. Other offices do too. Expecting different is naive to the nature of political offices. The DA is elected and that is why it is political.

I can also say that I am thankful for the changes that have happened internally under the Harrington administration. Andrea treats the staff with a level of respect that we have not had since Gerry. Her supervisors treat all levels of employee’s just as well. Gone are the day’s of treating low level staff as slaves who dare not ask for better or more. For a very long time there was a culture of cliques and bullying within this office that was permitted and perpetuated by members of its leadership. This office was hostile and and cruel to those who were not on considered a “favorite”.

I did not know Helen Moon until she came into the office. It became clear very quickly that Helen Moon is out for Helen Moon and she has zero time for anyone unless they can be of service to her. She would stomp through hallways, always with her head down, never saying hello to a passerby. If you said hello to her, she MIGHT say it back. She acted very differently when Andrea was around or if she needed information from you. With Andrea near, Helen would smile and might even offer a complement or make small talk. If she needed information to complete a task, she would come to your office full of smiles and be sweet as pie. The next day she would be back to the same thing. She hid in her office and avoided any unnecessary communication. When the last city council campaign rolled around, her attitude changed for a short time. She suddenly ate lunch in the kitchen and would say hello. It was short lived.

I heard from neighbors and fellow ward residents that as her constituents they routinely feel berated or ignored by her when calling for the simplest issues. Some report being brushed off or completely ignored. Others shared that Helen had completely berated them when they inquired on the simplest of issue or wanted to share their views with their representative. Helen is always, as another commenter said, the smartest person in the room. When in reality she is the most offensive and out of touch person in the room.

This behavior is not isolated to the DA office or to Ward 1. I know medical colleagues of Moon’s and they have all shared similar experiences. She undercuts doctors and tries to boss senior nurses around.

Helen Moon is the very definition of a political climber and she uses everyone around her. She doesn’t have a genuine bone in her body. It is always unfortunate when this type of person gets by without being seen for what they are and it a good thing that Moon is finally being seen for what she is.

Meanwhile, we are still waiting to hear back on that case number of when Moon was ripped from her vehicle at gunpoint.

Also, has anyone else noticed that in different interviews Moon has cited Longmeadow, Springfield, and West Springfield as her home before Pittsfield? Will the real Helen Moon please stand up?

I’m glad that working conditions are great in your office, but that doesn’t change the fact that both Moon and Harrington are far left progressives who believe in the far left agenda which is very dangerous for this country. A lot of the agenda involves defunding the police, releasing dangerous criminals from jail, and allowing certain offenses they consider to be unimportant, but which many people believe encourage more dangerous crimes.

This is one of the most fabricated stories on the Planet to date. It’s not even hard to tell when Harrington has her buddies come in and type for her.
It’s the same old story, this reads just like Andy’s press release. Anything said about Moon, it’s 10 times that with Harrington.

She threatened Mazzeo
She got Tyer and Buffet to try and get Knight out of the race.

There isn’t a person in there that’s worked in that office “for decades” that thinks Harrington is anything but an idiot. She’s extremely disrespectful to staff, she told Kempthorne “she didn’t know what she was talking about.” She routinely screams at people, the office was much better before, anyone saying otherwise is lying or maybe just Andy covering for his girl.

Maybe Dohoney helped write this fiction. It sure sounds a lot like Andy’s press release.

The number of ADAs that quit, is telling. The fact that Kempthorne quit and went public with complaints, all anyone ever needs to know about Harrington.

“…increasingly, I felt that political considerations or personal considerations – things other than legal considerations – were playing too large a role. That was my sense as time went on. I raised concerns about it repeatedly, and I did not feel they were addressed.”

She said the dispute over complying with the public records request confirmed her belief that the DA was considering her own interests over the law.

“Overall I would say the DA is not experienced in prosecution, she’s not experienced in government, and she’s not experienced in management,” said Kempthorne.”

Just remember this,
“ We need more Jeanne Kempthornes in the world. We need more people who adhere with faithfulness and bravery to a strict moral compass (“DA’s office whistleblower resigns over public records issues, ‘campaign culture”, Jan. 17).

We know from the simple black and white reporting over the last week that she is such a person because her ethics came at a personal cost to her: her livelihood. When we put her actions in a national context, we must acknowledge that she is swimming against the stream of self-promoting, morally bankrupt politicians who forfeit the truth and the law in benefit only to themselves.

As public defenders, we hope to come across people like Jeanne Kempthorne who do simple things like: promptly reply to requests, openly state reasons for opposition and adhere to legal guidelines. We need people like Jeanne Kempthorne in order to make this judicial system function. The fact that she had to choose between her values and her career is a sad testament to the failures of this system.

The letter was sent from the law office of Molly Ryan Strehorn in Amherst. All who have signed the letter are attorneys who practice law in the Commonwealth and have taken cases assigned out of Berkshire County.”

Or this

“ On Monday, a senior staffer in the Berkshire County District Attorney office resigned in protest over what she described as a culture where politics took precedence over the law.

In 2018, first-term DA Andrea Harrington tapped Salem-based attorney Jeanne Kempthorne to serve as her office’s chief of appeals and legal counsel. A veteran of both private and public legal practice, Kempthorne also served as a commissioner on the state’s ethics commission and spent 11 years of her 36-year career as a federal prosecutor in Boston.

On January 13th, she resigned after an internal disagreement over the handling of a public records request from The Berkshire Eagle concerning the office’s investigation of unfounded claims of a racially motivated assault at Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington.

“What led me to do it was a concern that what I thought was an inappropriate way to go about making certain decisions would continue unless a light was shed on it,” said Kempthorne. At the heart of her protest is a December 16th request from an Eagle reporter concerning communications between the DA’s office and Simon’s Rock.

“She told me that her press person would handle it,” Kempthorne told WAMC. “She did not give me any substantive response to my legal concerns. It was conveyed to me that public records compliance is about relationships between her press person and various press organs. And that it really is not something that she wanted me to devote much energy to.”

The Eagle reported that DA spokesman Andrew McKeever initially said the records could not be released – a decision that concerned Kempthorne.

“I said but I’m the record access officer, it is I who have to report to the secretary of the commonwealth,” she said. “How do I do that? That’s really what I said to her, but in my own mind – if I’m cut out of the process, I can’t do the job.”

Even before her resignation, Kempthorne says she felt the office’s priorities were skewed for some time.

“I felt that consistently there was a misalignment between responsibility and authority,” she told WAMC. “I raised this issue repeatedly. It didn’t lead me to leave, but I was very concerned about that misalignment. In other words – I’m the RAO, I have responsibility. But do I have the authority to actually do the job? That is what I thought is the problem, and increasingly, I felt that political considerations or personal considerations – things other than legal considerations – were playing too large a role. That was my sense as time went on. I raised concerns about it repeatedly, and I did not feel they were addressed.”

She said the dispute over complying with the public records request confirmed her belief that the DA was considering her own interests over the law.

“Overall I would say the DA is not experienced in prosecution, she’s not experienced in government, and she’s not experienced in management,” said Kempthorne.

Speaking with WAMC Friday, Harrington pushed back, calling Kempthorne a “disgruntled ex-employee,” and describing her tenure as rocky.

“This particular public records request was a request that we received,” said the DA. “There was some discussion among senior leadership whether or not it was in our purview to provide emails from the Massachusetts State Police in response to a public records request.”

In an email exchange January 10th, Harrington said that she was “not concerned particularly about the content of these emails,” but that she didn’t “want to set a precedent of providing Massachusetts State Police emails if it is not required under the statute.”

“They were really updates on our investigation which was information which we have already provided to the press in our prior press releases – it was the rationale for the decisions that we made in the Simon’s Rock case,” said Harrington.

The redacted emails that were released to the Eagle included communications from Detective Lieutenant Edward Culver of the Massachusetts State Police about interviews conducted with an unnamed person involved in the investigation. They also included an incident report from Simon’s Rock Residence Director Sherri Brown, and emails between Culver and Vice Provost Susan Lyon about scheduling interviews around the investigation.

Harrington said she made the ultimate approval for the documents to be released.

“Attorney Kempthorne felt very strongly that those records should be provided, and I authorized them to be provided because she felt so strongly about it, and they were provided,” said the DA.

The records in question were released to the Eagle on January 10th by Kempthorne just after 4 p.m., around two hours after her email exchance with the DA.

Harrington says in her first year as DA, there have been no complaints made to the Secretary of State about how her office has handled public records requests and that no appeal had been made to a public records request response in this instance or any other.

“In this particular instance, I contacted the Secretary of State’s office because I think that is important that the public be advised that myself and my office are following the law as it pertains to public records,” said Harrington. “So I look forward to getting a response from the secretary of state’s office as to the propriety of our actions. We did turn over the request records, so there’s no ‘there’ there.”

As to Kempthorne’s criticism of her own capabilities, Harrington pointed to her efforts to modernize the office’s approach to prosecution and implement reforms like ending cash bail and creating a Juvenile Justice initiative to divert minors away from the courts.

“We’ve accomplished so much in our first year,” said the DA. “We are trying cases, we’re getting convictions, we’re building relationships with law enforcement, and I have undertaken an unprecedented community engagement effort in the district attorney’s office because I recognize that I represent the people of this community.”

Harrington says that Deputy District Attorney Richard Dohoney has been appointed record access officer and that her office is looking to hire a new chief of appeals.

The Berkshire Eagle declined to comment on this story beyond its original story published January 17th.

So, Beth, how did you manage to keep your job while the naive members of your unit were all fired? You admit you worked for and supported Paul, like the rest of COE. Why did you get to keep your job and your pension?

Your post mentions nothing about the actual work of the office. It’s all about how you felt you were treated, as biased as that perspective may be. All work places have cliques and rotten people working in them. And, all work places have back-stabbing suck-ups looking to improve their situation not by working hard and being a team player, but by gossiping, criticizing, and undermining their co-workers.

So, Beth, as you sit in your office, never having prosecuted a case in your life, how is the legal work being done? You got your job. You got your pension. Screw the work, right?

Public safety is job one of the DAs office. Thanks for your foolish post. And by the way, one does not make a noun plural by using ‘s.

“ And, all work places have back-stabbing suck-ups looking to improve their situation not by working hard and being a team player, but by gossiping, criticizing, and undermining their co-workers.”

Because this sure sounds like Beth. Harrington kept all the suck ups and those that wouldn’t challenge her competence.

Beth spends more time looking for an ass to kiss than working.

Beth is toxic. She and her husband Steve jumped over to Harrington’s campaign after Harrington won the primary. She kept her job because the office is strictly political.

Keegan’s bitterness is tied to her legacy in the Baran case …the saddest miscarriage of Justice ever in Berkshire county. Her part was sickening. Capeless absolutely despised her. We all new it ..Blair got the job in that administration like most .. family. Inquiring minds would like to know what the school program Advocates did when the schools let out? Yup 3 months of vacay and the Taxpayers paid them… Little off topic oh forgot to mention the vacation pay scandal when the new administration took over. Again the taxpayers will vomit if they only new.

Vacation pay is set by law. Keegan was excellent at her job and she and Capeless are friends. The advocates continued to develop new programs which Harrington axed. The Face family has a long commitment to law enforcement. Baran did it. All the facts fit to print.

Ohhh boy you are really shilling for Harrington. You must be scared to death you are going to lose your job.

OR

You are so worried about some of your little misdeeds in the office, you’re trying to lie it all away.

School Program Advocates, in the summer, did any number of outreach programs at local camps, summer education programs, direct outreach to teachers, administrators, school nurses. They coordinated the curriculum for schools across the county over the summer, took part in trainings and professional development.

Why are you so angry? Who hurt you?

Just finished reading IBerkshires and felt really pissed off. One article showing a bunch of people standing in line, no social distancing to purchase pot in North Adams including the Mayor. Take a ride by Berkshire Roots and Bloom Brothers in Pittsfield and see the huge crowd at those places also. Next article states due to Covid they can’t allow youth basketball to be played at the Armory. Guess kids don’t matter, but pot does. Really tired of this hap hazard bull crap we have been dealt this past year. Priorities are really screwed up in this Country.

On Beacon Hill under the shiny Golden Dome, the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed a huge tax break for big business worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The Massachusetts State Senate is going to take up the tax giveaway bill to already wealthy big businesses under the pretense of helping small businesses this upcoming week. The State Senate is also going to take up the State House’s climate bill, which sets its lofty benchmarks decades out into the future when all of the current career political hacks will be long retired or a memory we would all like to forget about. Beacon Hill GREEDY Lobbyist Daniel Bosley wrote his 1,000th op-ed this past week praising PAC Man Richie Neal for his role in Congress finally passing surprise medical billing that will take effect in 2022. Dan Bosley’s op-ed was shot down by a letter write who explained that K Street corporate lobbyists wrote the bill to end surprise medical billing in a way that they will still make a lot of money off of the unfair health insurance scam. Of course, K Street’s favorite Member of Congress is none other than PAC Man Richie Neal, who takes in millions of corporate lobbyist dollars every year. Dan Bosley’s public record in government has been one of screwing over the people in favor of big business, which doesn’t really exist in mostly rural Western Massachusetts. The problem is that most of the people do not understand how Dan Bosley and Richie Neal operate in state and federal government. If you think Pittsfield politics is a disgrace, then multiply your negative feelings by over 1,000 when you look at Beacon Hill, GREEDY Lobbyist Dan Bosley, and PAC Man Richie Neal.

I still don’t understand why the state hasn’t brought our tax rate down to 5%, as they said they would in the 90’s after paying off the Massachusetts Miracle under the Duke. The voters actually voted to get back to 5% but for some reason our elected officials, maybe electronically elected officials, still haven’t lowered it back to the 5%.

Pot in Pittsfield is largely a politcally owned, backed and ushered cash cow. A very fat genetically modified angus beef cow. They will get everything they want and it would not surprise me if they are getting tax breaks and other taxpayer funded assistance for their business. They will have their own set of rules and exclusions from rules and general practice. Along with other special interests they are now a part owner of Pittsfield.

Good luck getting a top down inside out view of who owns what, what their true income and expenses are, what they are truly paying in taxes and what that money is being used for. Do, did they have the same hill climb getting permits in Pittsfield as other startup business s or did things just seem to fall into place?

Nor do they care how getting everybody on pot brings down a community. It creates docile Democrat voters at the polls while putting lots of cash in their pockets for the big houses, pools, and giant vehicles and that’s all these moneymakers care about.

Cannabis had been illegal for so long because of its ability to cause many who used it to think outside the box and Gleen a better and more thorough understanding of things. It enabled many users to see things as they truly were. This sort of phenomenon was undesirable given the primary drivers of society, namely… war, greed, power, corruption etc…

It’s legalization at this time coincides with a monumental effort to dismantle western culture. The illusion its legalization is creating is that the people are finally getting the freedom to enjoy the gifts that cannabis can offer without much interference from the state. This freedom notion is countered and revealed as false with the massive assault on freedoms which is underway… censorship, mask mandates, mom and pop losing their businesses et…

Cannabis has the ability to assist in the development of a more just and sustainable society, and that’s why so many people are against cannabis. It’s the micro managing control freaks who wanna try to force their way to their own personally twisted version of utopia.

There needs to be better accountability for the taxes the pot shops pay in to the cities and towns about how much they are getting and where it is going. These politicians bitch about having to many liquor stores around but have done the same allowing pot shops in the same manner.

If the progressives didn’t keep destroying jobs, people wouldn’t have to turn to selling pot to make a living. I just read that some of the taxes from pot will go toward reparations in some states. Massachusetts will likely follow a similar path. The progressives in some states want to give money toward owning your own house to non-white people, but many far left progressives are not happy with that and say they want even more reparations money.

Cording to the Eagle of March 10 the mayor has hired an addition four librarians for the awesome local library. Apparently at least three of them are from out of the area, some way out. Did she try to find anyone in Pittsfield or is it a reflection on the overall stupidity of Pittsfield residents that no one local was hired. Given the school system she oversees that could dexplain it.

Ex-royal Meghan Markle who recently dished dirt on the royal family now considering a political run. She is in tight with the far leftist Democrats and I think she was a spy for them when she first married Harry. Her little incident of refusing to make an appearance when President Trump visited England several years ago, shows how tight she has been with the far left agenda for some time. She has alienated her own family and is now destroying Harry’s relationship with his family and attempting to topple the British monarchy. She would fit right in with many of the reality challenged far left politicians.

The DA professes to be driving a program of “treatment over incarceration.” So far she advocated for and succeed in getting inmates released early from the jail due to covid. People died of overdoses because they had no support plan. Why is there no follow up????? Who are the inmates? When were they released? Surely there is someone who cares about this??
