BY DAN VALENTI

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

THE PLANET received this letter late, past “going to press.” Nonetheless, we want to share it with the citizenry in the hopes it will turn out more to the polls citywide but especially in Ward 2.

FROM CHARLES IVAR KRONICK: My wife, Ann, wants me to post her letter to the Berkshire Eagle. It was written yesterday, and it may be too late to be printed.

To The Editor:

Charles Kronick has been working very hard to get to know you in Ward 2. I ought to know. I am his wife. He comes home every night from campaigning door to door animated by the people who have shared concerns and ideas with him. Some have asked for his help with problems: a woman whose husband is house bound was worried she could not get him a booster COVID shot, a man was worried that he would be evicted if he complained about smoking going outside his Housing Authority apartment (he has serious lung problems), a worried father asked if he knew anyone that could give him a job. My husband helped them all following up several times, in fact. “My work begins now, honey!” My husband declared to me. Yet his opponent has made public statements questioning my husband’s character because he has had the nerve to campaign during Covid.

I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis when I was 3 years old and take a number of medications that compromise my immune system. My husband is also immune compromised. My husband knocks on your doors because it is his duty to do so and I fully support him in that effort. I know my husband is a deeply caring man. He is dedicated, has broad business and life experience and is very, very intelligent.

Yes Charles has knocked on your doors and will continue to knock long after November 2nd . I made a great choice 10 years ago when I said yes to Charles’ marriage proposal and you will make a great choice by voting for him for Ward 2 City Councilor on November 2nd.

Sincerely,
Ann Kronick, Ph.D.

THE PLANET thanks Ann K for sharing this support, testimony that we heartily endorse.

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY NOV. 1, 2021) — There’s an election tomorrow.

Not that you’d know it.

Things have been quiet. Too quiet, as they say in the Westerns.

With no president, governor, mayor, or D.A. on the chopping block, expect turnout to be low, between 20-30% with a turnout of 7,000+ — about 6,000+ of whom will have a connection to one of the Big 3 public employee unions. The Kapanski’s are defending the Alamo. FYI, in 2017, an election similar to tomorrow’s, a “whopping” 23.01% voted. Total electorate is 29,202.

Nonetheless, THE PLANET presents our snapshot of tomorrow, when shortly after 8 p.m., all will be known.

Here’s the official list of candidates from city clerk Michelle Benjamin.

WHAT HAPPENS

Let’s be done with the easy stuff first: clerk Benjamin, Sherman (Ward 3), Kavey (5), and Maffuccio (7) will vote for themselves and win by a landslide. They are unopposed.

As for the other races:

At-Large — Six running for four spots. Benoit knows which way the buns are toasted. Yuki bar-top danced once too often. Combine that with zilch as a councilor, and it’s fatal. Kalinowsky, too much “Karen” and not enough “Owsky.” Still, she has the blessed status as challenger. Of the incumbents, Marchetti is still looking for a political spine. Persip rebuilds the family name. White is both “houseless” and clueless. THE PLANET endorses Benoit and Kalinowsky in a bullet vote. We predict Benoit outs Cohen, with the other three incumbents sentenced to another two years.

Ward 1 — Not much is known about these two. Warren‘s retreads are coming loose. Wilson has the right plumbing. THE PLANET endorses Wilson. She’s new. That’s enough. We predict Wilson by a cup.

Ward 2 — The “Special K” race. Kronick has proven this campaign’s most capable candidate. Kudlate was put up by the Administration to get another stooge on the dais. THE PLANET endorses Kronick. We predict an upset, with Kronick taking it.

Ward 4Conant has many “friends” on the inside. Wrinn, the ex-fire fighter, runs out of hose. THE PLANET endorses Wrinn. We predict Conant.

Ward 6Lampiasi plays electoral dominatrix to the resolute Carmel. THE PLANET endorses Carmel. We predict Lampiasi in a landslide.

School Committee — Eight running and two must go. Brazeau doesn’t well wear incumbency. Neither do Elias or McGeeCameron gets hurt mainly by his association with this do-nothing bunch.  With the departure of Kathy Yon and the clueless Nyanna Slaughter, the new committee will be improved. Just how much remains to be seen. Challengers are Hathaway, Murray, Smith, and Tyer. Thumbnails? You got it.

SC CHALLENGERS

Hathaway: A policy person who as former mayor will bring a great perspective to the position. The only one to bring up the schools’ bullying problems.

Kaveny-Murray: Another Kaveny in city office? Why not? She’s multilingual and hasn’t been shy about criticizing the administration for not backing teachers.

Smith: Lots of experience, including a doctorate in curriculum and instruction. Slam dunk.

Tyer: Former Lee selectman and member of that town’s planning board. Experience.

SC INCUMBENTS

Brazeau: Seeks third term but hasn’t done much in the first two.

Cameron: Solid on policy, long on sound judgment.

Elias: Has served 24 years. Shelf-life has expired.

McGee: Proved her ethics being bought and sold by the Bike Mafia. McGee needs to be McGone.

THE PLANET endorses Hathaway, Kaveny-Murray, Smith, Tyer, and Cameron. That’s a bullet vote for five. We expect Hathaway, Kaveny-Murray, Smith, Cameron, Brazeau, and Elias.

———- ooo ———-

Remember, if you vote, do it more than once. Happy polling, all.

I agree with your analysis, Dan. Best of luck to those endorsed by the Planet.

And people, if you see any funny stuff going on at the polls, speak up, report it to the police officer standing guard. Better yet, take pictures if possible.

Ward 4 always decides the citywide vote, along with middle class and upper class Ward 4, of course. There is no opposition in Wards 3, 5, & 7. Wards 1, 2, & 6 have opposition. Mayor Linda Tyer’s term doesn’t end until the end of 2023 so she is not up for reelection in 2021. The School Committee needs new members because of Pittsfield’s indefensible Level 5 inner city public schools. I hope that all of the challengers win their elections in Pittsfield politics, even Sara Hathaway. I dislike that the Dirty Bird (Berkshire Eagle) endorsed all of Mayor Linda Tyer’s rubber stamp incumbent and establishment candidates. Despite Pittsfield politics being so weird that it is like it is on another Planet or Moon in our Solar System, I believe that there still needs to be opposing viewpoints in Pittsfield politics. I listen to all sides within reason in politics. I dislike how divided our country has become lately. Politicians are supposed to find common ground around their agenda for government to work for the people. Mayor Linda Tyer and her rubber stamp municipal elected officials need to work with opposing viewpoints because we live in a Democracy. Pittsfield politics needs to do away with its provincial factions and use of retribution against the ruling elite’s opposition. The reason why voter turnout will probably be less than 20% of registered voters on November 2nd, 2021 in Pittsfield Massachusetts is because the fix is always in with Pittsfield politics where voters know all too well that it is always “Business as usual” in City Hall.

He forgets to mention many of the people who live in the area are hardworking two income earners who earned what they have and work to keep what they have. They pay through the nose in taxes and other fees to have a decent place for themselves and children. There is a mixed bag of people who vote, work and live differently. The one most common thing they have is working hard to maintain.

Cameron should know better than to approve 100% of school budgets. Two high paid administrators are moving out of Pittsfield and taking that school choice money and sending it to another district. That takes guts to pull your kids from the very system that pays you 200k as a couple.Same administrator that had Halloween party during COVID last year. Its not the teachers or students its the leadership.

It is nuts that homeless people poop on North Street. It is nuts that over 80 Pittsfield residents have died of Covid-19. It is nuts that Pittsfield’s inner city public schools are rated Level 5 by the state in Boston. It is nuts that state and local Pittsfield politicians, such as Mayor Linda Tyer living in her elitist gated community, are totally DISCONNECTED from the people who live in Pittsfield. It is nuts that Pittsfield’s municipal budget spending always increases by 5% every fiscal year and that Mayor Linda Tyer has passed several record high city budgets, fees, public debts and other liabilities that will never be paid off in our lifetimes, along with Matt Kerwood’s multimillion dollar Slush Funds that belong in the pockets of Pittsfield taxpayers. It is nuts that PEDA is a 23-year-old mostly vacant and polluted failure with millions of dollars in liabilities that nobody in City Hall has yet to explain how PEDA’s huge debts/liabilities will be paid off. It is nuts that Pittsfield Massachusetts always ranks in the top 10 communities in the state for violent crime, according to the FBI. It is nuts that Mayor Linda Tyer’s Vibrant and Dynamic Propaganda is always printed by the Dirty Bird (Berkshire Eagle) newspaper. I could go on, but Ann Kronick, who is the wife of Ward 2 candidate Charles Ivar Kronick, is far from nuts for expressing her opposing views in Pittsfield politics, which is supposed to be a Democracy that serves the people instead of only Linda Tyer and her rubber stamp cronies.

As a matter of fact, YES.

The reality of tomorrows farcical alleged election is that even if NO ONE, not a single soul, showed up to any of the poll sites, or better yet, the ballot boxes remained mothballed for the day, the obnoxious gasbag pee pee marchette would still claim a shitload of alleged votes, or more precisely, a load of SHIT VOTES. I’m convinced elections/election days are just more of an unnecessary waste of taxpayers money in schittsfield.

And on creepy Kenny, the alleged sloppy shitfaced drunk, allegedly accosting women on the street, I’m surprised habitual offender super spreader Kumchi Puki yuki wasn’t giving out super spreader twerkalators to every sloppy shitfaced drunk as they left her METH BAR. You can bet that all the scoundrels claiming victory in tomorrows election farce will be the same ones possessing an abundance of moral turpitude. The possessing of moral turpitude applies either way.

Consuming alcohol to the point of intoxication is not illegal.

Ironically, your post points out that the actual crime committed here was an alleged over serving at the bar owned by a sitting city councilor. Great point dude.

Meanwhile, another sitting councilor finds himself in the middle of another drug-induced inquiry as the first born son of a known drug dealer and brother of a bonafide gangbanger.

Mr. Warren’s alleged weekend plans are probably far less harmful to the public than the other two.

Ladies and gentlemen we give you the Incompetent DA Andrea Harrington. Harrington’s office can’t even properly prosecute a drunk driver with a BAC twice the legal limit and 2 dozen empties because of lack of evidence!?!!?

Lenox man acquitted of second offense drunken drivingBy Amanda Burke, The Berkshire Eagle 4 min ago

A jury acquitted Daniel Tighe, 27, of Lenox, of second offense drunken driving after a one-day trial in Central Berkshire District Court. Though police said they recovered well over two-dozen open or empty nips and other bottles of alcohol from the car Tighe was driving the night of the offense in 2018, the state agreed to decriminalize a charge of possessing open containers of alcohol in his motor vehicle.

PITTSFIELD — A Lenox man has been acquitted of second offense drunken driving after a one-day trial in Central Berkshire District Court.
Daniel Tighe, 27, was found not guilty by a jury of six on a charge of OUI second offense. Prompted by an oral motion from defense lawyer Timothy Shugrue, Judge Jennifer Tyne ruled that prosecutors failed to present enough evidence to convict Tighe on a charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and entered a required finding of not guilty.
The office of District Attorney Andrea Harrington agreed to decriminalize charges of possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and disturbing the peace that Dalton Police initially pressed against Tighe, court files show, resulting in not-responsible findings.
Officers spotted Tighe driving a Ford Explorer conspicuously slowly east on Main Street just after 2 a.m. June 18, 2018, according to a Dalton Police report. Tighe pulled into a Maple Street driveway, then reversed and entered another driveway nearby.
After Tighe walked into a four-unit apartment building off Main Street, an officer reported seeing several open beer cans in his vehicle.
After knocks failed to summon anyone to the door, the officer entered the communal entryway to the apartment and saw Tighe at the top of the steps. A resident told an officer that he had been awakened by Tighe, a stranger, knocking on his door, and that he jammed a chair under his front doorknob in fear.
Tighe told police he had been looking for his friend, but got the wrong apartment building.
Police and the resident reported smelling alcohol in the hallway of the apartment building. Tighe was placed under arrest and initially was held at the station on $7,500 cash bail set by a magistrate. Police found 26 open or empty bottles of alcohol, including 21 nips of Fireball, in a search of Tighe’s vehicle.
A breath test administered at the police station registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16, according to police. Shugrue succeeded in getting at least one other field sobriety test excluded from trial, court documents show.
Tighe was arraigned on an OUI charge in July 2017, which remained open at the time of his 2018 arrest in the Dalton case.
The trial was heard Thursday. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Stuart Weissman.

A superior court attempted murder case was dismissed by the judge because the ADA did not summons witnesses for the trial date. Just didn’t do it. The worst part? The victim is a child.

Harrington MUST resign.

Her legal staff is poorly trained and supervised. It is no longer a law office, it is a social services agency. Community engagement and education are important aspects of the office’s prevention efforts, but it is a prosecutor’s office. ADAs must be trained, mentored, and supervised by senior ADAs. There are but a few good trial lawyers on staff; all the clinicians and social workers in the world are not going to support the statutory obligation of the office to represent the citizens of Berkshire County in all criminal cases.

No matter what she says, she is NOT pro-victim.
No matter what she says, she is NOT a prosecutor.
No matter what she says, she does NOT support public safety.

Harrington proves, again and again, she does not know what she does not know.
Shame on the gullible fools who bought her “reformer” routine.
She’s just another politician (making $191,000 a year) looking for her next big score.
Disgraceful.

I thought Sara Hathaway might be a good candidate for school committee, but you read her plans if elected and she uses all the far left buzz words of “equity” and “inclusion”. Vicky Smith seems like good candidate because she mentions parents having a voice in what their children are being taught so she probably won’t win in far leftist Pittsfield, but I’ll vote for her.

Thank God for Joe Manchin. He is the only adult in a room full of childish Democrats. He will not pass the Biden big social infrastructure bill until he can see what’s in the bill first of all unlike Pelosi. She of let’s pass it first and see what’s in it later. He wants to know what effect it could potentially have on the economy. We already have runaway inflation. His thinking is logical. He wants to save America. He cares about America. It goes against everything the far left wants from this bill. Using some social programs as a shield to hide what this bill is really about…..control and bringing down our country to “build back better” meaning authoritarian government. Just like they are selling to Joe over in Scotland now and they want him to hurry up and get this done, just as Obama says, it’s so urgent, not because of climate change, but for the “Great Reset”.

Trump didn’t lead any insurrection. There was no insurrection. The FBI had plants in the crowd who tried to incite them. Many were on to what was going on. A small part of the crowd took the bait and fell into the trap.

Was a woman with brown hair. She had a handful of at least 10 small manila sealed envelopes, she would check in with the worker, then tear open the envelope and feed it into the machine. Got me what she was doing.

In ward 4 I witnessed the voting clerks opening brown manila folders and crossing off names on the voting list. Was a little surprised that this was taking place at 12 noon, as it seems to me that the city clerk should have taken care of these absentee ballots the day before. What if someone who submitted an absentee ballot had come in before noon and also tried to vote in person?

I’m intrigued by Yuki’s home address on basically the Eagle newspaper grounds. Fascinating that she ‘lives’ here.

If the public get rid of her it will be a good first step. She is so arrogant, lazy and entitled. There are too many tone deaf articles in the Eagle where she has no grace and is spouting how maligned she is.

She has caused far too many avoidable problems with her business, too many underage drinkers getting shot at her bar, so much drug traffic at her bar, too much public money going to her family (500k last year) for no good reason. She emotes too much slack jawed stupidity to be taken seriously as anyone who has a dime of reason helpful as a public servant, not a self servant.

As a lifelong Sox fan beginning with watching Yaz stats in the paper and molding my own exploits as a little leaguer as Yaz as my long distant mentor (Lol) I actually was quite good as a little leaguer Jerry was my favorite player later on, loved him immensely as a player then broadcaster (one of the best). Have a story about Yaz Dan, Watched the Sox play a series with Baltimore and saw Brooks Robinson make two errors in one inning. Anyway, we stayed at the Somerset Hotel near Commonwealth and not far from the combat zone. Being a mischievous kid we went down to the bar well after midnight to see if we could heist some booze ( beer mainly) so we get there and the place is dark, closed. We hear someone entering the bar area.

We stood there and who enters! Carl Yaztremski and his wife. We were in awe. He had left his car keys at a table. We asked him for his autograph,he obliged. We were in Heaven Dan. He left and we left with a memory of a lifetime.

Re: Russia & China no USA yes in 2030 – 2Nov2021

Russia and China won’t sign onto global agreements to reduce greenhouse gases, while US President Joe Biden says yes in the year 2030; we are now in the year 2021. What a joke! The USA, Russia and China combine for well over 50% of the world’s global warming emissions. The rest of the world must be scared of these three countries when it comes to global warming and sea level rise in the 22nd Century. Joe Biden is a multimillionaire and John Kerry is a billionaire, both of whom are near 80 years old. In 9 years from now in the year 2030, Biden and Kerry will most likely be bad memories the world will be happy to forget about. In closing, all Joe Biden and John Kerry do is emit more hot air.
