PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION AUG. 5-7, 2022) — The skewers are out, the sewers are full, and we have the following items for The Weekend Edition smorgasbord:

Showdown for Sheriff — On Monday (Aug. 8) THE PLANET will sponsor, moderate, and broadcast a debate between sheriff Tom Bowler and challenger Alf Barbalunga. We will tape in the afternoon. The plan now, barring production or post-production glitches, will be to broadcast the one-hour event on multiple social media platforms Monday evening, without edits, save for opening and closing credits. We call the event “Showdown for Sheriff: Bowler v. Barbalunga.” This will be the first time the two square off in person. No phony Zoom! This will be live and look-me-in-the-eye high drama. To maximize that effect, we will begin the hour giving both B-men a chance to lob a live grenade at the other in the form of a direct question. Both men will respond to the Q. It will be revealing what each throws at the other, given that each will be looking to inflict the fatal wound.

———- ooo ——–

Right On — Add the League of Women Voters to the number of debates D.A. Andrea Harrington is ducking. Living up to her new campaign slogan, “Duck and Cover,” Harrington said she won’t participate in forums conducted by “right-wing” organizations: tte LWV, the Berkshire Eagle, and THE PLANET.  With or without her, THE PLANET will proceed with our debate, slated for Aug. 17. It will likely be an hour with attorney Tim Shugrue and, standing in for Wrong Way, a potted plant. Our tipsters in the D.A.’s camp tell us that privately, she is under tremendous pressure to change her stance and participate in the LWV and Eagle events. Does she cave or hold her ground?

———- ooo ———-

How Low Can She Go?The district attorney’s report on the shooting death of Miguel Estrella at the hands of Pittsfield police will be released to the public Friday afternoon at an invitation only press conference (of course, her archenemy, THE PLANET, isn’t among the invitees; no sweat. The room will be crawling with our spies!). Wrong Way faces quite the pickle. If she finds for the police, she’ll lose her white, Loon Left, female, LBGTQ, POC, woke core, essentially North and South counties. If she throws the police under the bus to save her political hide, she will admit what her critics contend, that she’s only in it for herself. Either way, she cooked her own goose by launching this probe. Maybe she should just concede the election tomorrow.

———- ooo ———-

Alf Keeps Pouring It On — Candidate for sheriff Alf Barbalunga continues to flog incumbent Tom Bowler’s management of the Berkshire House of Corrections. After zeroing in on the compensation of retired “special sheriff” Jack Quinn, Barbalunga blasted Bowler’s “executive empire,” pointing out how the HOC budget has increased by millions, even as the number of inmates has plummeted. Bowler, again caught on the ropes, covered up and pressed with defense. He said Barbalunga doesn’t understand budgets and that he’s telling on half truths. How did Alf respond? With another salvo yesterday. He accused Bowler of “fuzzy math” and administrative “bloat.” Canons roar, and the rockets emit their red glare.

 ———- ooo ———-

Dumb Is As Dumb Does — How dumb is Nancy Pelosi? She’s the highest ranking U.S. official to visit Taiwan in 25 years. China president Xi Jin-ping, the ablest world leader on the planet, made it clear last week in a call to Biden that he would not think well of a Pelosi tourist stop. China has a one-China policy, which the U.S. technically honors but in reality doesn’t. America needs to let China govern itself. Pelosi’s quixotic odyssey has perilously set back U.S.-China relations. Typical, though, how her pink-suited ego comes first over America’s best interests. She is the Wrong Way of national politics.

———- ooo ———-

Newspeak — In George Orwell’s prophetic novel 1984, Newspeak defines war as peace, hate as love, and so forth. Guess what they’ve called the Democrat-led measure to inject $1 trillion more in new spending (mostly on “green” fluff) during the worst inflation in four decades? “The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.” Welcome to the United States of Dystopia.

Many important questions to ask the candidates for sheriff too, such as how long is too long to serve, why they really want the job, why is there really even a “special sheriff”, why us taxpayers are still paying for the Second Street jail, who really “leaked” about Carm, and at what point do they believe the budget should be cut, and layoffs happen, based on dwindling inmate population, how much grant money has been spent over past several years, and who specifically (name names) got a piece of the pie, and lastly, what is the real story behind all the allegations and inuendo around Barbalunga and his work ethic and problem with women?

They appeared not to care what was happening at the tables, only what I was doing. Then, large men dressed in black would show up and shadow me as well. I was not breaking any laws and was following all legal protocols as defined by the law and not being at all rude or meanspirited to the poll workers. I was never belligerent or abusive to anyone and wasn’t initiating conversation intentionally with anyone at the table except the supervisor. Sometimes, workers would ask what I was doing, and I would always say something like, “I am just observing, not trying to be a pest, but I can’t talk to you.” Things seemed to be fine. It wasn’t until men in black showed up that any table seemed to begin to have a problem with me. These men always demanded my credentials and information but refused to give me any information. When I would ask who they were (they had no lanyards or name tags), most of them would scoff and then get another one of them to try to intimidate me further and make accusations and threats toward me about being kicked out or how I needed to be 6 feet away from the table. None of them had any problem standing within 2 or 3 feet of me in order to try and raise my blood pressure. When it didn’t work, they would continue to dis………..

The fact that Harrington won’t shake the hand of her opponent is all you need to know. The woman is raised by wolves. Try getting her to talk about something other than her trip to Portugal. Why does she call every thing a “piece?” Treatment piece, resource piece, expungement piece… She sounds like a 10 year old uptalking Valley Girl.

“Piece” is a replacement word for social service. Harrington has replaced trials with social service. The trouble with Harrington trying to apply the progressive prosecutor platform playbook she dragged us into is that we do not have an overincarceration problem in Massachusetts. Massachusetts has the lowest in the county, at 0.16%!!! It is a logical fallacy, the kind of flawed argument that would get thrown out in any court.

Do you really blame Berkshire County D.A. for avoiding the Dirty Bird (Berkshire Eagle) and blogger Dan Valenti? The Dirty Bird and Dan Valenti have unfavorably and unfairly criticized her over and over again. Do you really believe that Tim Shugrue’s legal career is without failures? Babe Ruth had many more Strike Outs than Home Runs during his legendary baseball career. But according to Tim Shugrue, he only hits proverbial Home Runs, while Andrea Harrington only Strikes Out. Speaking of George Orwell …. Pittsfield’s Level 5 public schools, violent crime-filled inner-city, distressed economy and economic inequality, high municipal taxes, fees, debts and other liabilities in return for substandard public services, political corruption, heavily indebted PEDA debacle, and so on, are all “Vibrant & Dynamic”…. just like Jimmy Ruberto’s Rolodex that can be found at the bottom of Silver Lake.

Yeah, Jon I do blame her.

Explain to me why Tim Shugrue participated in the NAACP zoom debate? Moderator and proven liar, Helen “Handgun” Moon, has made racial posts calling white people “YT.” It is a derogatory term, geared towards white people Jon. No different than if I called Handgun an “egg roll.” Didn’t stop Tim though.

Tim knew probably 90-100% of those participating in this “debate” were not going to vote for him in the first place. Like the leader that he is, he went and performed any way. He didn’t run and avoid it, like your hero Andrea “Wrong Way” Harrington has been doing.

As far as your “proverbial” crime infested city, yes the DA plays a huge part in this. The DA is supposed to represent the state in criminal matters, regardless of race. She has not done this. She has proven that she is very lenient to black men arrested and accused of crimes. All you have to do Jonathan is make a quick google search of three names and the crimes and punishments of each: Lonnie Durfee, LaQuan Johnson, and David Moody. After doing this search, tell me I’m wrong. Then do a quick search on the Simon’s Rock racial-kidnapping hoax. Explain to me why the black female was not charged with a crime?

As the DA, Wrong Way is expected to handle the problems Linda “Flat” Tyer and Tricia Farley-Country Buffet (D-illegal immigrants), have created and made exponentially worse, by accepting all the state grant money and the problems that come with it. You know, “vibrant and dynamic” recovering addicts from half-way houses in the Boston area. Sprinkle in a few “houseless” with drug dependency and medical issues, also from the Boston area, an low and behold, you have out of control crime. And of course, Ricky’s Rumpus on NON, but we’ll save that for another day. So again Jon, your excuse for her is invalid. After 3+ years in office, when does the buck stop with her and nobody else?

So, unless you are going to start posting FACTS that DA Wrong Way has done to better improve the quality of life for people in the Berkshires, stop posting this nonsense. We all saw it and read it yesterday.

Unlike the DA’s race the contested Sheriff’s race is an actual race. I can’t wait to see how the debate goes, you may want to get some body builders in there to keep the peace in case things get out of hand. I don’t think these two like each other and I see fireworks!! I am glad they both agreed to this forum, unfortunately the same can not be said of the other “race”. How is the electorate suppose to educate themselves if they can’t see the candidates respond on their feet to questions they don’t know are coming, unlike the Presidential debates where the Dems received the questions ahead of time. Sorry for digressing. Another aside would be a read an interesting article on Pelosi’s trip stating it was to help Xi remain in power. I guess there is a real estate bubble and supply chain issue so people aren’t paying their mortgage. Seems the middle class isn’t happy in China. We know Pelosi and the CA delegates are cozy with the spies from China so this is as good a guess as others as to why she went to Taiwan.

……….”I recall that a ballot at the scanning station did not register in the poll book. So, I stepped in to see if I could note anything unique about the envelope and monitor the process. I was immediately told I had to stand 6 feet back. The men in black appeared and started telling me falsehoods about how I wasn’t allowed to do anything but look at the monitor because everything was on the monitor. I said to them that isn’t true and that, in this specific case, the ballot literally was not showing up on the monitor, and that was the specific reason for the challenge. I also told them it wasn’t even me that initiated the challenge. They didn’t care. They just kept trying to distract me from my job by insisting that I was trying to intimidate the workers at the table by trying to see the election materials, as is my duty under the law as a challenger.”…………………………..

According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), catalytic converter theft has spiked dramatically due to three precious metals found inside them: palladium, rhodium, and platinum. How precious are we talking about here? At the time of this writing, an ounce of rhodium costs about $15,000. For comparison, an ounce of gold costs a measly $1800.

The average catalytic converter ranges between $800 and $1,200, depending on the vehicle’s make and model. In general, the larger the engine, the more expensive the converter. Keep in mind that these prices only include the cost of the converter unit itself.Mar 3, 2021

How far left and out of touch with reality do you have to be to consider the Eagle and League of Women Voters “right wing”?!?!
The moonbeam wrongway and NAACP forums were actually PAID for!
A contribution was made by a third party to the NAACP prior to WrongWay being involved with the clear expectation that it would be a forum for wrong way to spew her nonsensical word salad.
She’s basically violated campaign laws and equal time laws by buying time for a forum. The discussion points were carefully orchestrated and negotiated in advance.

Wrong way is deathly afraid of live extemporaneous forums. Very telling about someone who is supposed the top prosecutor in the county and who can’t argue the merits of their “accomplishments”.

She’s also whining in the office about how Healey has left her high and dry. She wanted a job in her office. She still thinks she could be the AG of MA. She’s also pissed because Hinds walked away when he knew she was in an election cycle. The background on that is Wrong Way was told, the party has done enough for her and if she can’t hold onto her job, that’s her problem. She will NEVER (the emphasis was clear in the call) be elected to the senate.
Wrong Way is freaking out! It’s nearly impossible to work and yes, half her day is spent on campaigning and on the phone with her consultant.

Transparency needs to not only happen in office, but also in ones personal life. Someone running for any political office needs to have a clean record and clearly define someone of good moral character professionally and personally. Alf has asked the community if they have any questions for Sheriff Bowler to let him know. I have questions for Bowler to ask Alf if time allows..

1. Is Alf willing to discuss the restraining order he had or has and how he thinks that it’s ok to go after a female superior court clerk ordering her to make it disappear?
2. Is Alf willing to discuss he recent affair with a female who is 30 years old and why photos of his private parts were sent to her phone and her roommates phone?
3. Is Alf willing to discuss why he was kicked out of a recent Probation Conference for displaying his private parts to a group of female probation officers?

Then there is the alleged missing report that he forced two women to perform oral sex on him in exchange for allowing their spouse/boyfriend to get “no show” probation meetings.
We know that part of this is true because there was an investigation, the rampant abuse was cited in a report that got the probation commissioner fired. There were three lines in that draft report.
“The investigation into sexual assault by a Southern Berkshire District Court probation officer has been confirmed by this investigation. Two women, unknown to each other, both reported a very similar pattern of behavior by (redacted). The expectation was that, in exchange for sexual favors (redacted) would give favorable post release and re-entry reports.

That was in the report, and then it disappeared from the final draft.
Alf had already had a history of sexual harassment, sending dick pics and making unwanted sexual advances, and this came up and got swept under the rug.

Starbucks is closing stores in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Portland, and its hometown of Seattle. Each of these cities has a radical prosecutor dedicated to non-prosecution of even serious crimes, such as the Andrea Harrington’s friends George Gascon in L.A. and Larry Krasner in Philly. Property crimes are up in all these cities. The next time you can’t get a good cup of coffee in one of these places, consider who you voted for in the district attorney’s race.

Lazy West Stockbridge police took the report over the phone and said I have to pay for the report that will be ready in a week?

According to this account the officers wanted to use less than lethal means to subdue Miggy. All cruisers are equipped with bola wrap devices. Miggy was walking according to this report, not running. Apparently the officers aren’t trained to even think of using the bola wrap. Why did PPD buy them?

Maybe they are a scam and don’t work but are marketed by unscrupulous vendors who are taking advantage of disarming police trends.

Maybe, Wynn got suckered and bought them and then discovered they only work against cadavers and people under 100 pounds so stuck them in cruisers with a do not use postit on them to save face?

Ah! you have videos that they work! And who makes those videos? That is the simplest solution.

First I would like to say that if watching Andrea’s Famous Press Release today didn’t prove she is unfit for the job, nothing will. She calls a press conference then shows up almost 15 minutes late. You had to turn the volume way up on your TV to hear her, the spread sheet presentation was unreadable and she was having trouble reading her own notes, kept losing her place, kept talking about Bartlett Avenue instead of Bartlett apartments. While playing the video from the hairdresser’s business which showed the whole event, she offered no explanation as to what was going on. Did she even know?

Thankfully, I am pleased that the PPD was found not guilty of this shooting. Would suggest to all, listen to a scanner for just a couple of hours and you will completely understand what these officers go though on every shift. The PPD department spends their days being social workers, baby sitters, marriage therapist, constant well being checkers, helping parents with uncontrolled children and I could go on and on. These men and women are really not doing the job they applied for. On any given day, drive down Vibrant and Dynamic North Street and you will find police cruisers pulled over dealing with drug over doses and intoxicated folks. It seems that our PPD works more for the Brien Center than the City. Does the Brien Center reimburse the City for this service? Changes need to be made by the City Administration to alleviate our PPD from these social services and let them get back to controlling crime and enforcing traffic violations, that is suppose to be their job and that is what taxpayers are paying for.

Seriously, with all that is going on in this city right now she has time to think about a new ball park? Ask for an upfront accounting of where the money is going. Who will the contractors be? Why is this being rushed like it was a life depending emergency? Why can’t this wait till construction material costs subside? Why can’t this be put on a referendum for citizens to vote up or down? Just like pushing lots of pot on the people of the country is to distract them from getting upset about all of the chaos in the country. It seems like one out of every 4 or 5 cars that I pass in Pittsfield is loaded up with skunk pot. Now the Berkshire Mall will be under new ownership and naturally more pot for the people will be a big chunk of what the mall will be selling. People want variety in their stores. Supermarkets are packed in Pittsfield so a nearby supermarket would have been great, pharmacies are mob scenes in Pittsfield so that is needed, but the only thing they can think of is pot.

Lenny, I agree with you. ALL Pittsfield parks have been and still are being neglected by this Administration. Parks are filled with garbage, needles, addicts and drunks. The City never took care of Wahconah Park, they couldn’t take care of the Softball Complex. The Colonial Theater is closed more than opened. MacHayden Theater puts on more events in their short summer season than Colonial does in a year for half the price. I want the park to survive, yet like the bike lanes, it is not in use year round due to our climate. There are so many other major issues in this City that funding could be used for. Tyer’s slogan should be Neglect Then Rebuild. She wants to build a new Wahconah Park yet she has been unable to renovate a shelter for the homeless, you seldom hear anything about this renovation. Most entry ways at City Hall are in disrepair with yellow crime tape around them. Are they really broken or does the Queen not want people to enter her palace? As usual the thought process is one sided by this Administration.

Wonder why Miggy’s girlfriend did not speak yesterday at the famous press conference, especially since she was present and vocal during the incident and was also constantly standing in front of the officer trying to do his job and help Miggy. Oh gee, forgot she got arrested a couple days ago for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

When was the last time the cops murdered someone you love right in front of your eyes? When was the first time or the last time the cops put their loaded gun to your head or to the heads of your loved ones? The girl is 19 years old, and she called 911 to get help for her mentally ill self-harming sick boyfriend, not to have the cops murder him right in front of her eyes. As for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct charges those along with assault and battery on a cop are usual suspect charges when the cops don’t have any legitimate charges to arrest you on. That said, I do believe there is great concern for yet another 18-year-old in possession of an illegal loaded weapon loose on the streets. I hope the court locked him up before he murders someone, and/or before the PPD recruits him for their gang of armed and deadly thugs.

Law enforcement is probably the only racket where the court has ruled that barring smart people from becoming cops is not only rational, but necessary to reduce job turnover. Those with below average IQ are more suited for long careers in law enforcement. Career cops who steal from their own police unions and married with kids cops who molest young girls and sexually harass young female employees, and cops who harass civilians with impunity, that’s who’s attracted to careers in law enforcement and what police departments recruit.

Jordan v. The City of New London, Policing Hiring and IQ

UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS

FOR THE SECOND CIRCUIT

SUMMARY ORDER

August 2000

Robert Jordan, Plaintiff-Appellant,

“The city could rationally have relied upon the guide to interpreting test results provided by the test maker as justification for reducing the size of the applicant pool with both a low and a high cut off. Even if unwise, the upper cut was a rational policy instituted to reduce job turnover and thereby lessen the economic cost involved in hiring and training police officers who do not remain long enough to justify the expense.”

“We have considered the appellant’s remaining arguments and find them without merit.”

PRESS RELEASE

Baker-Polito Administration Awards $11.2 Million in Shannon Grants to Address Youth Violence

2/10/2022

Pittsfield $396,034.80

STOP

The PPD/wynn will oversee this grant money allegedly awarded to combat gang/youth violence in Pittsfield.

The City of Pittsfield also received a $95,000 Award from the Shannon Grant Program

Wynn and Tyer attended the press conference at the State House to combat gang youth violence.

Tyer said the Shannon Grant and resources like it are essential to the city’s
work.

In 2014 Mayor Bianchi was pleased to announce that the city of Pittsfield had been awarded $133,000.00 from the Shannon Community Safety Initiative program. That was $33,000 more than the City of Pittsfield received the year before. Program Coordinator Adam Hinds said “The allocation is one-third larger than last year, reflecting continued growth. Hinds obviously meant continued growth in Youth/gang/gun violence in the City of Pittsfield.

In 2013 the City of Pittsfield reeled in a $100,000 grant to combat youth violence.

I can’t find the amounts of money the City of Pittsfield received for the years 2015, 2016, 2017,2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. But based on anecdotal evidence and the police logs, there are more youths with illegal guns on the streets of Pittsfield now than there were 10 years ago. Two young females, both the daughters of cops, one a minor, the other an 18-year-old had no trouble getting their hands on loaded guns. The 18-year-old daughter of a Pittsfield cop took her loaded handgun with her on her shoplifting spree for alcohol, which led to a high-speed chase through the city. While the other minor female daughter of another Pittsfield cop allegedly shot herself with her cop father’s unsecured handgun after he tormented her.

It’s really the skunk pot that has become the major problem. It takes pot to a whole new level that is an obnoxious skunk smell instead of the sickly sweet odor of the pot we have all come to know and somewhat tolerate. Women who use a lot of regular pot have issues with it that I have seen such as depression, lack of energy, weight gain from having the munchies all the time, and lung problems. Maybe men tolerate it better.

Most cops are good moral people, and I assume the same as those involved in the ME event. You know this to be true because you are a logical person. Therefore, your point seems to be that the organization of officers leads to abuse. Isn’t that the nature of all organizations that is endowed with power?

Bolas, tasers, sticks, bag guns, social workers (“I’ll take it from here but please don’t go far which at minimum acknowledges that they may be no more effective as the low-powered taser”) are not the problem in this event. Officers are not expected to retreat and bolt under threat. I wonder first what command structure was present that evening? Was there a lieutenant or other higher rank present to direct and coordinate, summon more officers?

I agree Dan that up is down and evil is good with the far left fanatics. Michelle Obama said they wanted to change everything about our country and our culture including our language and its meaning so that it becomes meaningless and communication isn’t really about communicating. It’s about brainwashing. This infusion of another huge chunk of cash will mean even more misery for Americans unless they work for the school system or are very wealthy. Lives will be destroyed all in the name of saving the climate which is a deceptive term for giving lots of power to the politicians. This is a tiny bit scaled down Build Back Better bill and the garbage about bringing down the inflation is just to fool the public.

I’m curious too Lenny. With the new rules of MA POST, that cop could have just lost his/her police certification.

Honesty and Integrity are big issues with MA POST and a police officer’s certification. Letting a OUI (criminal offense) off is a violation of both. This isn’t the 1980’s were cops just “tossed your keys in a field” as punishment or a speeding ticket that gets “taken care of.” Its a criminal offense.

If this is true, maybe let the local chapter of MADD and SADD in on it. See how they feel about letting a drunk driver off. Many of them have lost loved ones to OUI drivers.

Our current DA says she has issues with removing violent criminals in any circumstances. Why would she want to keep them here? Once again criminals get a pass from her.

Berkshire Eagle:
DA Harrington questions
Shugrue’s stance on cooperating with ICE; DA and sheriff’s candidates to meet in upcoming debates:
Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington is challenging DA candidate Timothy Shugrue’s statements on the potential of collaboration between the office under his leadership and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), following a mid-week candidate forum that featured both attorneys.
During the forum, co-hosted by the NAACP, the ACLU and local branch of the League of Women Voters, candidates were asked about whether the office would communicate with ICE if they encountered someone with an administrative warrant from the federal agency. Shugrue said that he would not create blanket policies and would treat each case individually.
“It depends on the severity of the particular crime,” Shugrue said. “If someone is charged with a minor drug offense and ICE wants to come and take them, then I don’t think it’s appropriate for us to do that.”
Shugrue said that if the person is “a very serious violent felon and a conviction can happen” that he felt he would have “an obligation” to notify the agency. Harrington issued a statement late this week calling Shugrue’s response “disturbing,” and called on him to change his thinking on the matter.
Wading into federal immigration policy, Harrington said, is “not the job of the District Attorney and sets a dangerous precedent that erodes trust of our immigrant communities and makes it less likely victims will report other crimes like domestic violence.” “Berkshire County embraces the diversity of our immigrant communities, and it’s unfortunate that my opponent supports prosecution methods that hurt these communities,” she added.

They would face prison time here and then be deported for that violent crime if illegally here. If illegally here person shouldn’t have been here in order to commit any crime at all because the person is illegally here to begin with. If a immigrant legal citizen of USA when sentenced is served back on our streets. Harrington is weak on all criminals.

She’s also trying to score brownie points with the local state rep who represents illegal immigrants. That rep being Tricia Farley-Country Buffet (D-illegal immigrants).

She knows Tricia provided the platform by giving illegals DL’s and on every DL is an address. This way when Pedro Sanchez-Gomez Rodriguez, from Venezuela, gets a soft, mitigated, sentence that normally would have resulted in jail time, DA Wrong Way knows the 6 or 7 ballots mailed to Pedro’s address, will come back with votes for her.

Remember everyone what Tricia told us about giving illegals DL’s, “it’s safe, even Chief Wynn thinks so.”

“That was underscored by the case of Alfred E. “Alf’’ Barbalunga, the son of a Pittsfield judge said to be friendly with O’Brien. In 1999, Barbalunga came under fire for poor job performance as a probation officer in the district court in North Adams, according to several sources with direct knowledge of the situation. Among the complaints against the younger Barbalunga was that he wasn’t always showing up for work, the sources said.

One judge recommended Barbalunga be fired, but the judge overseeing an investigation recommended a severe sanction short of dismissal, according to the sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the personnel proceedings were confidential.

In the end, Barbalunga received no discipline at all. And when a slot opened in 2002 for chief probation officer at the district court in Great Barrington, O’Brien gave him the promotion. Today, he makes $102,946 a year, more than twice the income he earned when he was investigated.

In an interview, Barbalunga denied that his work ethic was the central focus of the investigation. He gave the Globe a list of court references, including a former judge who said he is a solid worker.

“That was a very unfortunate time,’’ Barbalunga said. “I think I’ve done an outstanding job.’’

This was also about the time Alf was allegedly sodomizing probationers wives and girlfriends for “no show probation reports”.

One day there was a report that went into great detail about the alleged sex for no show probation” and then another day there wasn’t.

Alf’s right about one thing, his not showing up to work wasn’t the main focus of the investigation, his alleged sexual assaults were. His alleged requesting money from probationers, his alleged stealing of and using cocaine from probationers was more the focus.

Hey Alfie, if you’ve got nothing to hide, ask for the report to be released. If you don’t do it someone will, to the Boston Globe and the Eagle and not only will you not be sheriff, you’ll end up in jail. Those alleged sexually assaults, you’ve got years on the statute of limitations.

From her white privileged upbringing, to her life removed from reality in Richmond, Andrea Harrington is, at her core, an incompetent racist.
Behind closed doors, and in places she feels comfortable, she calls people of color; thugs, dirtbags, and she uses the N-word. I have heard it first hand. When she was working part time in Great Barrington, if you didn’t have money and weren’t white, she’d not return your call.
She looks at minority communities as communities she can use to further her political ambition; tokenism is her method of manipulation. Unfortunately there are some in the minority communities that go along because supporting her enhances their bank accounts.
If she cared about the minorities in the community, she would put those commuting crimes in jail. She would punish repeat offenders, why? Because in the end those criminals are stealing from, hurting, raping, and killing the most vulnerable in our communities. Those here illegally have little trust in law enforcement, often due to the corruption they have seen in their home countries. I deal with hundreds of immigrants a year some here legally, and some not. When we talk about police and law enforcement and when I try to get them to report rapes or theft with violence, they shrug their shoulders and say, “no one will do anything because the prosecutor is corrupt.”
They see her misdeeds and incompetence as corruption. The police don’t arrest her, she lets violent criminals and murderers go free. From their perspective she is just like the prosecutors from their home country, the criminals go free because of corruption. When I try and explain she’s not corrupt but incompetent, they laugh and say “Nadie puede ser tan tonta” or “ ¿Cómo puede ser tan tonta?
“Nobody could be that dumb”or “How can she be so dumb?”
By her incompetence and pursuit of her white privileged idea of justice reform she is failing POC and the community at large.
Please voter her out of office and make Berkshire County safer.

Because of my position in the community and the pressure within my organization to support her, I post this here anonymously but I implore you to vote for Tim Shugrue and save Berkshire County from the criminally incompetent Andrea Harrington.

The Senate is getting ready to pass the massive spending bill that will make the IRS the enforcement arm of the politicians and they will be going after regular income people including small businesses because there is no way that the wealthy will be able to pay enough of the massive taxes needed for the agenda of the far left radicals. Gas prices will skyrocket even more as the push toward electric cars, which nobody can afford and for which the charging stations aren’t readily available, to make the wealthy Democrats even wealthier and impoverish the lower classes and destroy the middle class will heat up even more.

Old Bernie Sanders wanted to create a Civilian Climate Corps. and add it to the massive Reduce Inflation Bill (God knows what a Civilian Climate Corps is, but it sounds ominous). That was rejected by the Senate but so was Bernie’s proposals to help the working class which there is none of that in this bill, except reductions in medicine to hook more people on drugs. The plans for the working class in Joe Biden’s America is to get them dependent on big government and a much reduced standard of living so they don’t want to prop up the working class with any actual help.

Berkshire Eagle:
Friends of Miguel Estrella react to District Attorney’s report:
PITTSFIELD — A day after the release of the District Attorney Andrea Harrington’s investigation, those who knew Miguel Estrella struggle to place their feelings.
On Friday, the District Attorney’s office released the findings of their four-month investigation into Miguel Estrella’s death. Harrington said Officer Nicholas Sondrini used legal authority and acted in self-defense. Carolyn Valli, CEO of Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity, where Estrella worked, said the family and many of the Habitat staff who knew him were traumatized again by the news.
“[We were] contacted by the family because it’s too much for [them]. They’re not over [it]. The more things go on, they are retriggered over and over and over,” she said. “They’re trying so hard to bounce back and recover and it’s just very challenging.”

Valli decided not to read the report herself after another staff member reacted to it.
“One of our staff reached out to everybody and actually suggested that we don’t [read it] because she’s been retraumatized by the video,” she said.
Valli said that mental health should be dealt in a different way. I think the goals that we set off after this happened to Miguel still stand true [and] that we need to have a better response when people have [a] mental health crisis,” she said. “I think people that are not experiencing [this] themselves have to really understand the magnitude of what COVID has done to people and the mental health crisis that we’re experiencing in Berkshire County,” said Valli.
Dr Jon Schnauber, who had known Estrella for seven years had harsher words.
“I am not surprised by the DA’s conclusion. Her job was to investigate and determine if the officers involved had committed a crime. This situation was determined to be justifiable homicide, identified and accepted as a systemic issue from day one. We’ve heard that ‘the system failed him.’ There are faces to these systems, gatekeepers right here in the community. Let’s look there for the answers, for the change. Look around, this is [the] zeitgeist. We’re not alone in this struggle.”The collective Invest in Pittsfield released a statement saying the police should not have been involved at all in the response.
“We know the truth in our hearts: this was a young man experiencing a mental [health] crisis, and instead of getting assistance from an unarmed mental-health professional who is trained in de-escalation, he met his death at the hands of the police. This tells us that the solution to tragedies such as this is not a co-responder model. The police, by virtue of their training, saw him as a threat that had to be neutralized. Miguel, by virtue of his previous interactions with police, saw two men in uniform who were armed to the teeth.”
The statement was also signed by the Maggie Sadoway Immigrant Cooperative, Manos Unidas, Roots & Dreams and Mustard Seeds Inc. and Westside Legends Inc.
