PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY AUG. 10, 2022) — Whew.

Raucous it was.

As of 9:49 p.m. Tuesday night, THE PLANET-sponsored sheriffs’ debate had 1,152 views on YouTube (don’t have Facebook numbers yet). When it comes times for an Emmy, we shall consider sending a Native American woman to accept on our behalf. We have Sen. Elizabeth Warren in mind. Keep in mind it was posted roughly at the same time the night before, and that probably a dozen of the 20-24 hours were sleep/wake up time, when “normal” people, wherever they might be, are trying to get out of a nightmare or preparing their Pop Tarts in the microwave.

If you haven’t seen this debate yet, go to our YouTube channel. On the YouTube search window, simply type in “A PLANET VALENTI PRODUCTION” and it will come up, usually as the first video.

THE PLANET‘s debate was between incumbent Pudge Bowler and challenger Alf Barbalunga, in case you hadn’t heard. Both are known political entities, each with big-time support, each spending what will be north of a hundred Gs to get a position due for a big state pay raise in the not too distant future. Egos, bragging rights, hides on the walls, and $Money$ — a lot’s at stake.

Given how much of an issue public safety has become throughout the county, especially in the Third World city of Pittsfield, THE PLANET did something we had never done before: We decided to up the ante and sponsor a debate. We moderated  countless of these on radio, TV, and the internet for other organizations — public, private, and commercial — but never had we assumed the additional roles of backer, organizer, producer, and director. That’s a whole other deal. We learned much, especially what’s involved in dealing with two opposition camps that HATE each other (not a word we use lightly).

The job of organizer and sponsor involves a combination of phone calls; resources human, technical, and monetary; a million texts and emails; in-person meetings; negotiations; running Dr. Kissinger-like shuttle diplomacy; hunting down a venue; sending press invitations; issuing press releases; doing a sound and video pre-check; and 1,001 things I can’t recall at the moment.

And guess what? We’d do it again in a heartbeat.

As producer, we set it up under our own rules, not the straight jackets that get put on the center chair by your typical sponsoring organizations, God bless ’em.

———- ooo ———-

Fortunately, our event was a smashing success.  How do I know? Several indicators:

  • Record amount of traffic on THE PLANET (readership and comments).
  • YouTube and Facebook viewings.
  • The now-famous handshake photo, taken by master photog Ben Garver of the Berkshire Eagle. It should get a Pulitzer.
  • Team Alf’s feedback: “[Y]ou did deliver on what you promised, and we recognize and appreciate that.”
  • Team Pudge’s feedback: a well-intended emotional “protect my man” from the sheriff’s sister (campaign manager) and his wife.
  • Press coverage, especially the outstanding work of the Berkshire Eagle‘s best reporter, Amanda Burke. Note to Kevin Moran and publisher Fred Rutberg (who by the way in the same edition had an excellent column about his connection to legendary NFL ref Art McNally): Give Amanda an immediate raise … before we hire her away. She’s a keeper.
  • Anecdotal feedback. Seems that everyone has either viewed our video, read about the 15-rounder, or heard about the furor, or seen Garver’s photo.

Even if our efforts had flopped, it would have still left us with the priceless fulfillment that comes from giving something your best shot, as the ballplayers say, “leaving it all out on the field.”

———- ooo ———-

Of course, moderating a debate (to say nothing of producing it) is as thankless a task as one would want, short of being the equipment manager for Kamikaze pilots. You’re a sitting duck for them “shoot the messenger” types who can’t handle the results of your efforts (not the effort itself). If that moderator is a Big Boy, he accepts the slings and arrows at face value and moves on from there. Simple as that. Campaigns need to be managed by people who won’t get emotional or reactive. Much better to remain cool and objective, especially if they truly want to help their client. The candidates can’t do their best unless they have that steady hand, especially during turbulence.

On that score, Team Alf scored a knockout. Their boy got equal reception from THE PLANET‘s hot seat (some thought more). Brandon Mauer, who heads Barbalunga’s managerial team, attended the debate and understood the nature of such beasts. Donna Mattoon, Pudge’s sister who also serves as his manager, did not attend, yet she led a barrage against us. That did a disservice to her brother, who we thought defended himself well against Barbalunga’s relentless assault on the issues.

Being both family and #1 political adviser generally doesn’t work, not in a campaign such as this one. Pudge did himself well in the debate, but his sister’s reaction wasn’t a good look for him. Bowler’s a Man’s Man and doesn’t need skirts offered to hide him. Donna can wear protective-sister hat and campaign-manager hat, but not at the same time. Not with this debate. Bowler’s first time around, he faced former state rep. Dan Bosley. It wasn’t much of a contest, and the debates were lame snooze-fests. Pudge’s second time, did he even have opposition. He’d never been in a REAL, Major League Debate. Funny. He knew the score. His sister didn’t.

———- ooo ———-

Fact is, this forum was a tremendous public service. Until Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. Election Day, it will allow the electorate the chance to see more of the “real persons” behind the tame, mealy-mouthed postures candidates far too often assume on the stump and in those typical “suck-up” style forums that simply have Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski rolling their eyes. No wonder most don’t vote.

Such forums are little more than “video-graphic campaign literature” — podiums, pre-screened questions, non-answers, artificial time limits, and an overall stiffness. Formalism at its worst. When THE PLANET doesn’t follow that template. We break the mold and do it in a way that produces better results. If we are charged with trying to wake-up a somnambulist voting public, we plead guilty.

As a moderator, we would probably be one of the last people you would ask about who “won” or “lost.” Assuming you’ve never done sit in the middle hot seat, you have no idea what it’s like. It’s kinda like trying to thread a needle in a hurricane. Lots going on that viewers don’t know.

Whew.

Until the next one.

I should have run for Berkshire County Sheriff too so I could attack Tom Bowler too in hopes of me winning the plum position that pays over $200,000 in public pay plus perks. If I won, I would get to play Pittsfield politics while “Rome continues to burn” over the next 6 years, but I could blame Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington for it all too. 12 years ago, Dan Bosley’s failed run for Berkshire County Sheriff was sarcastically described as Boss Hogg wanting to double his state pension. I read on a blog that Dan Bosley collects up to two state pensions plus public perks on top of his 6-figure salary as a Greedy registered lobbyist on Beacon Hill. It pays well to be a politically connected Democrat in Massachusetts politics whether you are Tom Bowler, Alf Barbalunga, or Boss Hogg. All three of these do-nothing corrupt career politicians belong in the public payroll patriots’ Hall of Shame!

I betcha y’all didn’t know that the 4 families who run Pittsfield politics pays me a lotta money to give them my advice on government. I am kinda a big deal in Palookaville. I attend secret society meetings in Naples, Florida with the Godfather of Rolodexes. I get invited to elite parties in an exclusive Gated Community neighborhood with a few feet of the Hancock border. I take a certain State Representative who likes to eat out to the Country Buffet. I shine Chrome Dome’s jewelry and big bald head. I play PAC Man with the corporate owned Congressman from Springfield. I have dinner out with Chevy Chase along with the Senator from Maryland who promised us all he will save the world with the Green New Deal. I play financial shell games with the Senator who has a plan to make the Swamp work for Main Street, but somehow Wall Street always wins. I even lend the Prez $10 trillion to spend so that big government will solve all of our problems. I am a legend in my own mind!

Thanks DV for organizing the debate. Alf bragged about his boy Brandon Mauer with experience as a state trooper. I believe he “retired” very early on a disability pension from the state with less than 10 years experience.

I have a debate was average at best neither candidate presented themselves to someone who really cares about the community I mean what do they do over there? Sounds like a country club all the way around. At One debate Barby says he’s wanted not to run for sheriff but rather have some kind of Governors appointment. At this debate he’s wanted to be a sheriff since he’s like a little kid? As far as the forum itself it was good exchange and appropriately moderated and give Valenti an A+.

Universal fact: it takes 10,000 hours to become a master in a discipline (outside of instruction) Doesn’t matter what – music, art, math, science, etc. Probably even applies to being a sheriff.

I was leaning towards voting for Alf until I did some fact Checking.. Alf misrepresented some facts and then claimed that Jack obrien was his idol and that he wouldn’t be where he was if it wasn’t for Jack… Mr Obrien was in Fact Convicted and sentenced to Prison for Corruption The Malfeasance was Spelled out for all to see.. Talk about boss hogg omg.. The 2014 Conviction was Hovever overturned in 2016 as the appeals court Ruled that Prosecutors failed to prove that the scheme to favor politically connected job candidates was a federal Crime..Although Obriens Actions were distasteful and may be against Massachusetts Personell Laws The prosecutors Failed to prove they violated Federal Law.. Where there’s Smoke there’s ..You lost My Vote Alf.. Brandon M You Are a good Guy Distance yourself from Alf And Keep him at Arms Length.. You have a Bright Future Don’t Sully Your Reputation by associating With A Wannabe Top Cop…

Yeah, I read the same article, cause I remembered Obrien being found guilty. I don’t know why Alf is backing up Obrien, but he knows the guy, maybe he’s a good guy like Bowler. Guess patronage isn’t illegal. I assume the Sheriff will use Obrien’s case as his defense if he gets charged with patronage abuse, hiring from PPD and putting them in as Captains before they retire with a pension according to recent Facebook posts, giving out grant jobs to friends according to the Sheriff (not sure if anyone caught it, but that Second Street 2nd chances grant wasn’t issued until this year when BCC got it during the winter, so what does the Sheriff do switch grants at will to pay the Special Sheriff and why is he suddenly off payroll when the Second Street 2nd chances program just another $700,000 grant from Tyer and has the program actually done anything yet other than spend and collect grant money, cause there’s nothing in the Eagle yet about it?) Recent Facebook posts by people upset with the Sheriff name patronage hires, Alf calls out one during the debate, but nowhere is it proven that Alf was the benefit of illegal patronage, or that Obrien didn’t do good work as Alf claims in the debate, the point was Obrien was doing what most government officials do and showing favoritism when handing out jobs, just like the Sheriff. The Sheriff said during the debate he is building a dynasty, those were his words in the heat of the moment, one could argue that’s what Obrien did. Maybe Obrien is worse than the Sheriff, but Alf started as a corrections officer like hundreds of other people and left the department in order to have career advancement, I don’t know why you’d back the Sheriff when he acts more like Obrien than Alf does. Alf at worst is like the cop he called out during the debate, and at best just a regular Joe who got caught up in someone else’s patronage scandal when he was basically still a kid. That was what 20 years ago or more? The Sheriff is still handing out patronage jobs in present time.

Alfs father is a retired, respected Judge. That’s how Alf got every position he’s had, I don’t say job because he’s never worked a day in his life. He is a joke in the court system. Pompous, rude & arrogant. What OBrien did for him is well publicized, Alf has no business being a Chief of Probation, especially following one of the greats, Paul Collins. He is loyal to OBrien because he gave him the title (again, not job, that would mean he actually works). Let’s all remember the wonderful lies that Harrington spewed while running the first time. They are cut from the same cloth and if elected, Alf will disappoint just as much, if not more. He can say whatever he wants when he has no record to run on. Let us also remember that most of the hires that Alf complains about were hired by his cousin, Carmey Massimiano! If people think they want change – think Tyer & Harrington and how that has worked out for us. Alf is one of them. Vote Tom Bowler!!!

Im bad with names, but if people want to go through Facebook posts they are there. One story told was about a job Bowler created for a k-9 handler, there was an employee with excellent k-9 handling skills and he put in for the promotion. Instead the sheriff brought a friend in from PPD to take the job, then a few years later when he retired, the employee stepped forward and asked again about filling the role and was told it wasn’t needed, the role was being removed. It’s a clear pattern if what employees post on FB is true, and at the tine I looked the names up on payroll and they were real. Im not saying they weren’t good employees but they were direct hires from PPD bypassed others waiting for promotions and some retired shortly after (you need 3 years and a certain age to get pension I believe).

Mr. Stoutman. Jack Obrien is Crooked period. What Bowler Did was When Assembling his Management Team He hired People That he Could Trust And yes Some People that he worked with Who were I might add highly Educated in Their Field..I just read yet another Newspaper Article regarding Candidates inner Circles.Barbalunga had Cliff Nilan at his press release when he announce his Candidacy.. Cliff was involved in a bad Scandal where he may have nefariously Protected a Bank Colleague who he was supposed to be administering Probation to. They Were both Removed from the Board of Greylock Bank due to this insidious Issue.of which I will be Kind and not mention the horrible Particulars. If I were Alf I would have Asked Cliff to sit in the back at least. If I’m not mistaken I believe The Berkshire Eagle even mentioned one or two Ex Jail employee’s in attendance one of whom may have gotten caught up with Bringing illegal Controlled Substances into the Jail.. In hindsight who can blame The Sheriff for hiring people of Trust And Integrity To His Management Team..

If you go back on Facebook to July there were 4 or 5 names on there, some worked awhile then retired, sure I get he trusts them, but did he need more Captains? Jail is mostly empty, down from 400 or something to 150 or less. I don’t think it’s about trust, a neighbor of mine said the other night she isn’t voting for Bowler cause she knows too many people who got jobs at the jail they weren’t qualified for because they had connections. The Sheriff said he is building a dynasty. He spends money however he wants aa long as no laws are broken. He as much said it during the debate. You got to respect him for being honest, like DeSantis, that guy is a menace to democracy but neither is hiding who he is or what he’s doing. If he turns the US into a dictatorship some day don’t be surprised, and if Bowler gets elected and keeps handing friends $90k jobs or more, remember that’s your hard earned taxes he is spending.

Great job on moderating Dan the debate Dan . People need to realize that debates are healthy for tax payer , ( not the personal stuff, mud slinging ) and allow a process that we get answers .. 22 million dollar budget needs review , tax payers to have insight .. Any institution without oversight is doomed by corruption .. We should thank Alf for running and allowing some knowledge to what is going on at the Jail .. The personal things said about him are Disgusting , Ignorant, and wrong .. We should be grateful for his efforts to challenge incumbent.. Easy to get comfortable when no one runs against status quo .. Thank you Alf for your efforts , and taking these personal attacks in stride , and trying to bring up what is going on at an institution with a budget as (22 million ) big as the sheriff department..

Debate was a draw, which makes it a win for Barbalunga, since he is not the incumbent. The reality is they both want the job to boost their pensions and unless you work there, or do time there, who gets the job doesn’t matter to the Average Joe.. The choice is clear though – a genuine, down to earth, competent good guy, or an egocentric GOBSIG blowhard related to Carm. Bowler should challenge Barbalunga to one of these per week, to be broadcast, because the more people see these two, together, duking it out, the more the Average Joe will readily discern which one is real, and which one is phony.

Multiple people I’ve talked to are shocked by how Bowler’s supporters are behaving on Facebook, and this site, spreading rumors and lies and even attacking Alf’s supporters. If the Pope endorsed Alf, Bowler’s fans would claim the Pope was his cousin, or he made a donation to the Vatican, or he hired a guy in a suit to play the Pope. It may cost candidates both votes. I don’t see a lot of concern for the truth, actually. Notice that almost all letters in the Eagle for Bowler are from high paid Bowler employees who donated to his campaign. Bowler is building a dynasty, and the dynasty is in defense mode.

You fool.
Those of us who work in the criminal justice system and are familiar with both men know that Alf has more nerve than brains. He is an unserious spoiled brat who has been handed everything without working a day in his life. While Bowler is not perfect, he’s done a great job, much better than Carm the bully. I personally know someone who worked with his wife and told me Mrs. Carm would routinely come to work bruised and battered. While Alf’s dad was a great judge, he used all his political power to protect Alf from his own poor choices and bad behavior and to get Alf jobs, including his current position, he did not deserve. He is the worst combination of arrogance, ignorance, and entitlement. How do I know this? A front-row seat where I watched Alf grow from a dumb kid to a political hack. What more proof of his corrupt GOB is there than the probation scandal? The Globe actually called Alf out by name! Rather than being grateful for his undeserved six-figure job in a court that meets only two days a week, he feels he deserves more simply because of who he is.
He makes my skin crawl.

Look how he berated his wife in front of a crowd of people at his announcement. Here she is trying to get there during a storm with HIS kids. Real classy husband and father! During the debate, the fact that he addressed his conversation in an accusatory way at Tom’s wife, shows his lack of respect for woman. He was not debating Tom’s wife and Dan,you should have spoken up and told him so. Tom’s wife should not have been dragged into this debate. I give Tom all the credit in the world for not standing up and cold cocking Alf into the floor.

Watch out Alf! Here comes the Sopranos !! Here comes the threats from the bullies when they are proven wrong ! Interesting SHAGRUE BOWLER , two important positions in community , both law enforcement related , acting like gangsters by issuing threats .. All because you want to make IMPROVEMENTS in community , educate public , have honest debates on issues .. PEOPLE , wake up to this stuff , it’s REAL , personal threats , threats on children , safety at home ? Disgusting that these two power hungry men associate with violence , threats , and intimidation.. Not to mention corruption in how they raise money (Much More to come ) .. Alf stand tall , do what’s right , educate hard working people to their right to know what is happening with tax dollars .. Organized Crime right here in Berkshire County ( doesn’t sound right ) , it’s real , much more coming in this slime ball mentality , threaten a good man because he runs for office .. Pathetic , illegal , ABSOLUTELY TRUTH .. Stay tuned for reinforcement on how this stuff is Truly happening here .. pigs live with pigs ( simple concept ) .

The mayor had her media outlets put out this story about how well the North street refuckification is working out. Claims it is reducing accidents and people wuv wuv wuv it. Some councilors (the ones not terrified of her) say their feedback is in stark contrast to her report.
Either way, I have read nothing about the recent accidents on North street that people witnessed with their own eyes. Like in Russia we only get to read what they want us to read. Pittsfield may become communist before the rest of the country. Dynamic and innovative. Oligarchs are compiling their portfolios, buying up the assets, controlling the flow of info. Next big financial outlay, right next to the pickle ball courts, is going to be a 400,000 sq. ft. chess hall complete with real ivory pieces and a life like mural of Bobby Fischer.

It turns out that President Trump doesn’t have the warrant to ransack his property. They shoved it in front of somebody’s face and took it back. Will they be doctoring it before showing it to the public. The FBI under these far leftists is so brazen that they don’t care that Americans know this was a political hit job. Hours spent in Trump’s offices? Doing what? Apparently not caring what they grabbed. Just a fishing expedition. Going through Melania’s dainties. Then this supposedly former FBI person has the nerve to say that “yeah, I’ve seen them hide stuff in women’s clothing and even in the freezer”. Yeah maybe in drug raids on a drug house NOT in the house of the former President of the United States. So Shameful.

Police don’t give the warrant away. It has to be returned to the court listing property taken. They also do not allow lawyers or other interested person such as the target of warrant, follow the, around while executing the warrant, like a puppy dog. This is all common sense and well known to any lawyer.

Pat

So shameful of the FBI to go through Melania’s dainties like they were ransacking the home of a drug dealer and NOT a former President of the United States. They were on a fishing expedition and briefly waved the warrant and then took it back. Why so long in his offices? Planting evidence or putting in bugs like they bugged his White House offices? Maybe planning to doctor this documentation and use it against him if he is elected for a 2nd term. They then have all the time in the world to doctor the documents.

Obama took tons of classified info when he left the White House, but was never raided. Trying to make this about Trump being a criminal just shows how radicalized the far left has become. The FBI can’t just raid the home of a former president and keep silent on the matter. The FBI can’t raid the home of a former president for political reasons. That’s what happens in Russia. Biden going after a potential political rival has crossed the line using the FBI and other agencies and trying to say that Republicans are becoming violent over this incident shows what they are up to. It’s not just Trump they want to take down.

Vibrant and dynamic! Fake bike lane surveys, and armed robbery with violence at Walmart with a high speed chase, and actors getting assaulted in the park. Where is the commander when you need him? Is cumbies even safe anymore at 3 a.m.?

PITTSFIELD — Actors rehearsing for an annual Shakespeare performance were harassed three times in the past week during rehearsals at Pittsfield’s The Common, prompting them to seek help from police.

Shakespeare in the Park will still take place in free performances at The Common, starting at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The first incident happened Aug. 3 around 6 p.m., when a group of “male and females” on bikes with backpacks started fights with Shakespeare in the Park staff, according to Pittsfield Police Department report logs.

There was another incident Monday, when one member of the group showed up with his dog around 6:30 p.m., leading to the cast and staff retreating into the Zion Lutheran Church on First Street at the edge of The Common — and again calling Pittsfield police. There was no physical altercation.

And again on Tuesday, the same group member started to circle the Shakespeare in the Park company members around 8 p.m.

Spada said Lt. Jeffrey Bradford talked to the unidentified person and his mother Tuesday about his presence there.

Performances of “The Comedy of Errors” start Thursday as planned. Spada said the company has been in close contact with Pittsfield police to shape a safety plan.

“We’re feeling confident towards the event. There will be a police presence, so everyone can feel safe during the show just like there has been in other events this summer like Third Thursdays,” he said.

And the SYSTEM FAILED, the proof is in the paper.

is it clear that the programs and treatment DO NOT LIVE UP TO THE CONTRACT and what ever funds paid to rehabilitate these people for <10 years, was paid for a PUBLIC SERVICE that ended in the death of numerous young people. This amounts to false claims. False claims. Healthcare discrimination.

The question is,

Okay re: Miguel Estrella; for Protective Custody the police don’t need proof beyond a shadow of a doubt, or a hearing, nor a Warrant the police could hold him solely on disturbing the peace. And release him 24 hours or sober. I have no idea i need to Learn the Laws. Read the Policy.

I believe it’s MGL c 111 s

General Laws
Incapacitated persons placed into protective custody without consent for transport to appropriate emergency medical treatment
Section 9A. For purposes of this section, ”incapacitated” shall mean the condition of a person who, by reason of the consumption of a controlled substance or toxic vapor or other substance other than alcohol is: (i) unconscious; (ii) in need of medical attention; (iii) likely to suffer or cause physical harm or damage property; or (iv) disorderly.

Any person who is incapacitated may be placed into protective custody by a police officer without the person’s consent for the purpose of immediately transporting the person to an acute care hospital or satellite emergency facility as defined in section 51.5 of chapter 111 or otherwise immediately obtaining appropriate emergency medical treatment. For the purposes of this section, to determine whether or not a person is incapacitated, a police officer may request the person to submit to reasonable tests of coordination, coherency of speech and breath. A police officer may place the person into protective custody when such tests or other information or observations indicate that the person is incapacitated. Whenever a police officer places into protective custody a person under the age of 18 in accordance with this section, the police officer shall notify the parent or guardian of that person forthwith.

A person may not be held in protective custody against the person’s will beyond the time required to complete the person’s immediate transport to an acute care hospital or satellite emergency facility as defined in section 51.5 of chapter 111, or to otherwise immediately obtain appropriate emergency medical treatment.

A police officer acting in accordance with this section may use such force as is reasonably necessary to carry out the officer’s authorized responsibilities. If the police officer reasonably believes that there may be a risk to the safety of the incapacitated person, the safety of the officer or the safety of other persons present, the police officer may search the person and the immediate surroundings of the person placed into protective custody but only to the extent necessary to discover and seize any items or weapons which may pose a danger. Any item taken shall be inventoried and, unless the item is contraband or otherwise unlawfully possessed, shall be returned to the person when the person is no longer incapacitated.

A person placed under protective custody in accordance with this section shall not be considered to have been arrested or to have been charged with any crime. An entry of custody shall be made indicating the date, time, place of custody, the name of the assisting officer and the name of the officer in charge. No such entry shall be treated as an arrest or criminal record for any purpose.

Lose the disease definition, treat it as a crime as it participates in criminal gangs, and teach in schools that drugs == death.

See how Christopher Wray is making this Trump raid all about Republicans. He refused to say anything about the Trump raid, but has plenty to say about Republicans becoming dangerous after the raid on Trump. This is how they are trying to go after Republicans. Dan, I think you did a great job. Finally got a chance to watch the video.

Both parties knew going into the debate how you planned to conduct it. You had no control what Barbalunga or Bowler was going to say or ask. If either party wanted softball-type questions, they could do a Zoom debate with Helen “Handgun” Moon and the NAACP. The problem with that though, both candidates are YT’s. Not much of a choice for the low hanging fruit crowd. Right Handgun?

I do agree with others that Barbalunga bringing Bowler’s wife into the mix, was a punch below the belt.

Barbalunga not saying who he is backing in the DA race should be a huge red flag for people. In the words of the late mob boss, Carmine Lupertazzi Sr, “He’s indecisive. I wouldn’t be proud to call him my son.”

Ricky’s Rumpus…I cut and paste a section of the article, as well as the article below. A couple of things stuck out to me about the survey about Rumpus on NON. First, the report was prepared by “transportation and engineering consultants.” In other words, friends, family, and co-workers, of Linda “Flat” and Barry Tyer. No names were given, Second, what’s the name of this report/study and where can I view it? Third, how much tax money was paid in “consulting fees?”

And finally, the bulk of this study was conducted over ONE DAY. Again, ONE DAY. So, when and if Ricky Rumpus ever provides the “consulting fee,” remember this especially if the consulting fee was more than $500. And even that amount is being generous to Rumpus.

“The survey included a 40-person survey which councilors pushed the commissioners to expand. Morales said the results of the one-day survey, taken on North Street in June, turned up 24 people who said they liked the bike lanes, nine people who were neutral on the lanes and four people who disliked them.”

The city just released a report on the safety of the North Street bike lanes. Here’s what it found | Central Berkshires | berkshireeagle.com

**In the article, there are two great photos of Pittsfield’s finest: Linda “Flat” Tyer and the myth, the legend, the Birdman himself, Ricky Rumpus.

The title of the report was SILLY SPIN. It is what this corner office excels at. She is talking down to the people because she really believes they are stupid and beneath her. When she was told she would be in control of 40 plus million dollars her God complex began to grow even larger and now she cannot find a hat big enough for her head.

Off topic but does it seem odd that people in the local obituaries are getting younger and younger? Does one have to be a “conspiracy theorist” to think this isn’t natural?

Google it. The mortality rate has been increasing through country for years. Has lots to do with people eating too damn much, and doing too many drugs, and drinking too much. In other words, personal responsibility.

One individual who died recently was a 29 year old health care worker. I’m guessing he was mandated to get the boosters.

Not always true. “Died unexpectedly or suddenly” is often suicide, or covid vaccine heart attack, blood clots etc. 67% of deaths in San Diego attributed to covid vaccine effects.

I agree with Mr Fritz. Died suddenly or unexpected in an obituary, is code for suicide or drug overdose.

Most who die young from an illness, will usually have “battled xxx for many years.”

Off topic. In the past two weeks there have been multiple horrendous accidents with injuries on Pittsfield Streets. Most have been roll overs, at least two on Merrill Road, a couple on South Street, First Street and just another one on East Street by Silver Lake. As Flat Tyer’s Administration spends time testing our crap for COVID and also studying bike lane accidents on Vibrant and Dynamic North Street, can’t help but wonder if it dawns on Mikey Wynn and Officer Maddelena the Head of Traffic that there is a huge uptick on motor vehicle accidents in the rest the City? Why is there no enforcement of traffic rules? Is it because the cops have given up due to the DA not prosecuting? The streets are so unsafe in Pittsfield between potholes that are not repaired STILL and the complete lack of traffic enforcement. Wonder if the new Social Workers being hired by Flat Tyer will help stop the speeders and traffic law breakers? Meanwhile the police department is down almost 25 officers. Keep paying your taxes and try to be safe out there folks.

M/B I would imagine it would have a lot to do with DA Wrong Way not prosecuting crimes. Plus, if you were PPD, why put much effort into looking further into a situation. Only to have the county’s top prosecutor lose a slam dunk, gun/drug possession case?

Say what you want about Downing, Capeless, or Caccaviello, those three would NEVER have lost that case, much less even tried it. A first year prosecutor tries those types of cases.

Not to mention, what happens if your a white male cop and things go bad for you and you have to shoot a POC? You’ll get chief race-baiter NAACP Dennis Powell making false allegations before knowing the facts. Helen “Handgun” Moon making repeated calls to “defund the police” and posting lies on social media about her time getting “arrested by YT.”

Vote Tim Shugrue.

This just in Andrea Harrington has been violating campaign laws and state ethics laws in grand fashion this week.

In the office, in no uncertain terms, if “I (she) loses her job, all of you (staff) are going to lose their jobs!”
“Tim will fire every one of you as fast as he can find replacements, none of your jobs are safe if I (she) lose my job!!”
“If you want to keep your job and working on our mission, you better make sure you, and anyone you know, votes for me!”

There are also a number of people that have been coming in and meeting with her privately. People I’ve never seen before and I’m 99% they are people working on her campaign. She’s done no work, just worked with her campaign consultants.

Why should DA Andrea “Wrong Way” Harrington do any work? It’s not like gun violence, violent crimes, and drug OD’s, are on the rise in the land of “vibrant and dynamic” Pittsfield.

Any chance Wrong Way could get Shirley to use any of her $1,200,000 ARPA money to address violent crimes being committed by young POC? Shirley does have an all-access pass in the DA’s Office.

She fired 2/3 of the previous office so she knows that much. She’s desperate. A lot of the people she kept were traitors, played both sides of the campaign. Loyal to no one. They all got promoted by her, they are now her top prosecutors and advocates, they keep their heads down and do what they are told. But Karma is a *****!!!!

Took 24 minutes to get from Park Square to 510 North Street around 4 p.m. today. North Street was at a complete stop, mainly because of a camp bus in front of the YMCA. Meanwhile, F***ing Morales was cruising his bike up and down the bike lanes. Hope he got his daily high watching us taxpayers stuck in traffic. People that were already parked on North Street could not even move out of the parking spot. Way to kill business Tyer & Morales.

Why Alf is not fit to pick up dog crap on North Street

Jason Cutlet’s take on Alf
“I understand that this is long, but please read it in full. It’s important to me. Thank you, Jay.

I would like to take a minute to address some comments that were made about me, in my absence, during the Sheriff’s debate on Monday night:

As many of you know, I have spent most of my adult life in the field of corrections. I love what I do, the people I work alongside of and the clients that we serve. I have a passion that has only intensified over the years, and while advancement has always been a personal goal, I’ve always understood the value of working hard for what I’ve had in every position I’ve held.

I grew up on the city’s Westside. Life came with its occasional struggles but remembering where I’ve come from and comparing that to what I’ve been able to accomplish, has made my journey that much more fulfilling. I’m not ashamed to have paid my own way through college working entry-level jobs, or to have embraced even the smallest milestones of my career, as they’ve come and gone.

Just as we were raised to do, Brie and I take great pride in teaching our own children the importance of hard work, dedication, and the philosophy that “you don’t always get a trophy, just for showing up.” There are times that being a person of color may have made the path harder, but it certainly shouldn’t entitle me to shortcuts or handouts. I am capable and proud of what I bring to the table.

After several years of working in case management, I expressed interest last Fall, when discussions began about potential grant funding to implement a reentry program on Second Street. Knowing that it would give me an opportunity to return to a position that was more immersive in the community and realizing that I could build my skillset by taking on a director position, I accepted when one was offered to me.

Building a program from the ground up has been an exhausting endeavor; one filled with long workdays, unforeseen hurdles, and many overwhelming moments. With the help and understanding of my family and colleagues and recognizing the community’s need for this program to succeed, I am proud to say that I have persisted through the challenges. This “new” program, nearly a year in the making, held its first major event on Monday, with participation exceeding even our highest expectations. I can appreciate that because it’s what I’ve worked so hard for.

I don’t say any of this to pat myself on the back. However, it was incredibly disheartening and outrageously offensive when my name was brought into the debate Monday night, and candidate Alf Barbalunga insinuated that I’m only where I am today because of the color of my skin. To imply that my role was some sort of pity offering or a political stunt was not only offensive to the Sheriff, but also to my family and me, and questioning the authenticity of what I’ve worked for my entire life was unnecessary and cruel.

It had been brought to my attention, even before the debate, that Alf has been telling other community members that I’m only in the role I am today, because I’m a black man who is (in his words) “being used.” Please, let it be known, this is hardly the case. Before an Executive Leader’s role can be filled, it must become available. I’m grateful for this promotion as I wait for the opportunity of the next one.

I’d like to ask, respectfully, that moving forward, people allow me, and other local people of color, to speak for ourselves. By believing you know our struggles, our intentions, and our interpretation of things, you are stripping us of our own voices and implying that we are not capable of acquiring things through our own character and hard work. Truly embracing diversity, as a white male, shouldn’t mean being the loudest one in the room.

What you may also find, in talking to my many childhood friends, still residing in the Westside, is that we are a strong, determined, and passionate bunch. We look out for each other and when we want things, we go after them with tenacity and punch. Please be careful in assuming you know what’s best for us.

As for me, I am not “struggling” to climb the ladder, as Alf stated in his comments during the debate. My family has always been content working for what we have, supporting each other through that hard work, and enjoying the fruits of our labor. Money may pay the bills, but we are wealthy in ways that no paycheck can compare to.

In closing, I’ll leave you with this: I have known Alf, and each member of his campaign team for many years. I have always treated each of them with an utmost respect and kindness and have remained cordial during this whole campaign. I was extremely hurt and disappointed that this team used their platform to disrespect me and my family and use me as a political pawn. As I’m sure his team will see this, I am asking respectfully that you please leave my name, and my position, out of this. Thank you.“

Very wise and sensible words from a man who clearly does his job well and knows how. I hold high regard for those who personally invest their labor, thought, and time in the fulfillment of their visions. It is too easy to propose a solution and let others carry them out.

Thank you for sharing!

Pretty sure it was the Sheriff who brought up his name in the debate. Alf just said there were no minorities on the Sheriff’s executive leadership team (those being the ones making way over $100,000 a year and the Sheriff said his name. Too bad this guy had to be dragged into it.

All you need to know about the D.A.’s support

“Data from the office shows that when it comes to the money game, Pittsfield appears to be a stronghold for Shugrue. More than 230 residents of the county’s largest city have donated money to the Shugrue campaign. Seventeen Pittsfielders have contributed to Harrington’s campaign.“
