HOW LINDA “FLAT” TYER GOT THAT WAY
It came on a dim and distant Friday evening outside the Girls’ Club. There, parked along curbside, a red car with a flat tire. Site of the deflation inspired the little girl to bring hot air to the rescue. The image and the dream never left her. Plucked out of obscurity in her job as a secretary for the Lenox schools, the young woman saw the world open up for her. Her benefactor installed her as a ward councilor, then city clerk, then mayor, a series of successions that still bear the stamp of remarkability. Having been propped by now for eight years as Pittsfield CEO, she has made of transparency and accountability a vice, deception and favoritism a virtue.
Some see a flat tire. Others see opportunity and glory.

HOW EARL “THE DUMPSTER BEHIND PAUL RICH” PERSIP GOT THAT WAY
Once upon a time on the West Side, a little boy saw a man Dumpster Diving. Every day, the man would climb in the Dumpster and retrieve all manner of treasure: food, clothes, furniture, jewelry, sealing wax, doorknobs, and even free money. The little boy never forgot. “This looks like an easy gig,” he thought. “Sure beats working.” The lad took advantage of his family name and minority status, expertly played White Guilt, and won a seat upon a Grand Dumpster known at the Pittsfield City Council, which is how The Dumpster Behind Paul Rich became the city’s #1 tourist attraction.

I agree with blogger Dan Valenti that Mayor Linda Tyer has not produced change for the better in predictable Pittsfield politics, but how is that not surprising? It has been decades after decades of provincial politicians with their barstools, aberrations, rolodexes, Montello’s part-time mayor, and the secretive secretary of vibrant and dynamic Gated Communities. I, myself, would not want to pay for a mayor who drives a Lexus luxury car to City Hall to and from her mansion in her elitist Gated Community neighborhood within a few feet from the Hancock border who now charges the Kapanski family over $200 million per fiscal year in return for Pittsfield’s Level 5 public school district, Pittsfield always being in the top 10 cities in Massachusetts for violent crime, the heavily indebted PEDA debacle, a dangerous downtown called “Social Services Alley” with dozens of empty storefronts, and the economically distressed inner-city neighborhoods that surround North Street called “The Ring of Poverty”, a corrupt state and local group of insider politicians who do nothing but DISSERVICES to the people and taxpayers, the systemic suppression of citizen activism through retribution, and decades of losses in population and living wage jobs – a shrinking tax base – with record high municipal spending – the worst of both worlds – that always increases by 5 percent per fiscal year over the past 40 years, which was the start of the flawed Proposition 2.5 state law.
White just stated a fresh set of eyes is great but not as great as Audit Firm of the Scanlons because they’ve done our audit for twenty years, and who will show how an audit should look? Whaaaah? And two of the principals on the review board for Auditor are Kuffkinks and the City Council President? Guiel chirped in,she’s done many r f p’s and that the council was wasting their time? Waaaaaahh?
If I’m not mistaken, a GB town treasurer/tax collector got away with stealing from the town for several years. Somehow the usual town auditors missed this theft/embezzlement, year after year after year after year. I believe the embezzlement of $100’s of thousands of town dollars by a long-time trusted employee was only discovered after the town hired a different auditor. But I digress, who was auditing the PPD union accounts when veteran PPD Union President-Treasurer Officer Jeffrey Coco was raiding the police piggy banks of more than $250,000 right out from under the noses of the entire PPD? The official investigation only went back 5 years so who knows how long veteran Union President/Treasurer PPD officer Coco had been raiding the police piggy banks with ever arousing the suspicion of acting chief wynn or even a single PPD detective, sergeant, lieutenant or captain.
CITY
Excellent question. When the theft of union funds was going on, why was this not uncovered in either the Scanlon audits or other audit of the union money? In other words, what can it possibly mean when the city has audits each year and the audits tell us everything is fine? The only way to put these questions to rest is to have a TRULY INDEPENDENT auditor come in, one with sharp mind and teeth, and go through EVERYTHING A-Z, top to bottom, and produce the findings.
Veteran PPD Union President/Union Treasurer Officer Coco’s crimes of larceny and identity theft spanned several years. How much and for many years Officer Coco got away with raiding the police piggy banks he was entrusted with is no doubt a closely guarded PPD secret. The investigation was limited to just a 5-year period, and in every one of those 5 years investigators looked at they found that veteran PPD Officer Coco had successfully got away with stealing several thousands of dollars in union funds. And yet, no one in the PPD caught on. So, I guess as long as no one looks for any embezzlement/thefts/fiduciary irregularities in the City of Pittsfield’s finances, no one will find any.

Nikolas Cruz was doomed the day he was conceived by his alcoholic crackhead biological mother. Nikolas was emotionally and mentally disturbed/damaged before he was even born. His birth mother’s additions to alcohol and crack caused irreversible brain damage to Nicholas in utero. And then to compound things, Nikolas and another boy were lucky enough to adopted, but his adoptive parents weren’t as lucky when they adopted Nikolas and his brother Zachary. Nikolas is going to spend to rest of his unnatural life, however long that may last, locked away from society. I would argue that Nikolas did receive a death sentence the day he was conceived. It was just delayed, which wouldn’t be any different than if he had been sentenced to death for his atrocious crimes. He’d sit on death row for decades exhausting all of his appeals which would cost millions. Adoptee Nikolas Cruz is a poster child for abortion. Adoptees are at higher risk of emotional and mental issues; adoptees are also at higher risk of becoming Serial Killers. Choose Abortion, not adoption. Notorious serial killers David Berkowitz, Ted Bundy, Aileen Wuornos, Joel Rifkin, Brandi Lynn Hungerford, Richard Speck, Kenneth Bianchi, all were adopted.

Rationalization? Life in prison with little comfort and no personal gain/advancement possible vs death penalty is a low value concern. Just so long as the rat is in a cage of our choice.
Because his mother smoked cigarettes and crack and abused alcohol while pregnant. That was the defense and it worked. A separate trial by jury was held to determine whether or not to juice the kid. There should never be a jury trial to determine punishment, as there was in this case. Jury trials are for determining guilt or innocence.
Issue is fairness in sentencing. Does a jury provide more uniformity than a judge?
Sentences should be codified in law and not left up to 12 people too stupid to get out of jury duty.
Mandatory sentences are often highly unjust, even exaggerated. Such as, the PA nurse stopped by a NJ cop for minor traffic violation and facing mandatory long prison term on account of her telling the cop she was carrying a registered pistol, though out of state. It was an accident of ignorance and she was 100% lawful in her neighboring state and contrite. Judge chided her for being honest. The governor had to step in and pardon her.
Codified and court judgement removes common sense and moral judgement from both judge and jury.
Why have courts then?

Our ancestors came here legally, went through the process, bore the hardships, and were determined to assimilate … that is, become “Americans.” That’s when to be an “American” was an honor.
