THE RUMPUS REPORT: SNOW, GO, & BLOW … or … GONE WITH THE WIND

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY JAN. 26, 2023) — Last night the Pittsfield city council heard a shaky Ricky Rumpus “um”ing and “uh”ing his way through a truncated Power Point presentation of his “snow job” on what went wrong during the Dec. 23 storm. Ricky’s a good engineer, but as DPW head, he’s buried in an avalanche. His boss is even worse.

What went wrong with the snow treatment?

The wind. Too gusty, you see!

THE PLANET kids you not.

WINNERS:

  • Kronick: His Pythonesque door sign petition scored, as we saw when Kavey and Lampiasi lost all cool.
  • Sherman: First to bring up the huge problem of speeding plow jockeys
  • Kalinowsky: Here petition to put the downtown bike lanes to a vote passed, 5-4.

LOSERS:

  • Morales: He was clearly nervous, having been hung out to dry by the mayor.
  • Tyer: Her failure to take responsibility was apparent. Would have done better by skipping the meeting.
  • Kavey/Lampiasi: When they began talking about global climate change, you knew they had given up.

———- ooo ———-

Flat Tyer bookended Morales’ report like a Mommy seeing her kid off to kindergarten for the first day of school. It wasn’t a good look. That began the night.

Sir Charles brilliantly showed-up his tax-raising colleagues for their tax-happy ways, asking that the city post The Scarlett Letter on commissioner Morales’ office door. The sign would read “No New Salt. No New Spending.” Dina “Walking Conflict of Interest” Lampiasi didn’t get the point of the serious joke — namely, stop raising citizens taxes, you flux-ups, and start doing your fiduciary job — and wailed like a banshee, interrupting Kronick while he was speaking. She was totally out of order, but council president Marchetti did not rebuke her.

“I’m sick of it,” Conflict shrieked at Sir Charles. “You don’t know a thing.”

In her finest moment yet as a councilor, Clueless Conflict put the “ass” in “embarrassment.”

That ended the night.

———- ooo ———-

In between, we got another snow job.

Before and after Rumpus spoke, Madame Mayor sandwiched Ricky with a scripted, ghostwritten preamble and a postscript, which was about as useful as an anvil to a drowning man. Flat kept tripping over the canned, ghostwritten words. If body language was a lie detector, the needle would be fluctuating worse than Don Knotts “nervous man.”

“Sorry,” the mayor trembled. “… we missed the mark.” She should have stopped there.

Instead she listed the excuses for failure — what she called her Administration’s “in-depth review.” The voluminous report was as “in-depth” as the first inch of the kiddie’s side of the pool. The mayor said the failure “was not caused by a lack of response” on the part of the city. Indeed, Rumpus said the same thing, that DPW put “all hands on deck.”

Think about that.

If the city DID put all it had into the storm and that’s the dismal result citizens got, The Kapanskis are cooked. For example, the DPW’s handling of Monday’s storm, a full five weeks after the 12/23 fiasco, saw huge damage from speeding plows, like the one who ran the stop sign in the video THE PLANET published in our previous column. The after-wash of speeding plows broke windows of at least two small businesses, the East Side Cafe and the Magic Touch spa. There were also countless reports of mailboxes run over, driveways clogged, untouched streets … stop us if you’ve heard this one before.

A picture, as they say, is worth a thousand snow shovels. Cop car seen stranded, outside a house, Jan. 24 evening. Your tax dollars at work. Notice the hardpack and ice on the road due to the city’s ineptitude.

———- ooo ———-

Flat and Rumpus gave every excuse in the book why the city failed so miserably — not the right salt, the right salt but the wrong time, too windy (yeah, too windy!), lost it in the sun, subterranean waters, swamp gas, earthquakes, solar flares, and the mercury spill at PHS a dozen years ago.

None of the lessons of the 12/23 fiasco were applied two days ago. If anything, this Administrations handling of public services got worse.

Which makes the case for Sir Charles’ message about taxes being too high, services being too low, and spending needing to be reduced.

As Freud remarked, “There is no such thing as a joke.”

This report comes across as something George Anthony Devolder Santos would come up with.

When the next election comes around remember that Marchetti apparently signed off on this. He thinks his constituency is too stoopid to recognize the charade aspect of it.

I didn’t like Kavey’s personal attack against Sir Charles at end of meeting.
Warren was disorganized during his interaction with Ricardo.
Where is Maffucio? He’s been absent from council mtgs. – I hope he’s okay.
So the mayor finally emerged from her basement bunker. Some leadership.

And I might add that I am sick to death with Lampiasi’s political leanings. What has she done for the taxpayers? Zilch. Climate change as an excuse for the DPW performance? Leftist looney tune!

Worldwide – I have been tuned into the greenhouse model since 1980. For me to a be climate change denier would mean that I would have to dispense with the laws of thermodynamics and the properties of carbon dioxide. Climate change is irrelevant to december’s storm, and it is a theory that does not have any bearing on the hourly progress of a moderate – minor storm. That’s silly.

I did tell her to suck an egg. I was being kind and it was an constructive suggestion. DL herself complained to me that I use too many words. Point taken.

Also, as a political freshman, how was I to know she would be offended? It’s a generational conflict.

You’re beating a dead horse. Here’s the exchange verbatim.

Charles:
“First of all I want to say that if we’re going to start talking about climate change as the catastrophe of the season of the year, then we are as a human species doomed to go into extinction by the of the decade because we had a whole day to understand the weather pattern. The data was pretty up to date. We had the right idea going into the day, we just made a mistake….”

Dina:
“I just want to be clear climate change is happening. My comments was not about the cause of climate change, which we could discuss at great length it’s well documented by actual [emphasis hers] scientists. There are actual parts of our ecosystem that are dying that are having tragic consequences due to the changes that we are witnessing. So, it colleagues fail to understand the very definition of climate change unfortunately that’s education they need to seek beyond this room I think ”

Let’s compare and contrast. I introduced a witty preface challenging the notion that climate change was preventing us from clearing a moderate storm. It was a quip. I then proceeded to clarify my prior remarks to align them more with Warren’s as he took issue with some of what I had argued. I was was just pointing out, with a bit of light sarcasm, that climate change is a straw man argument.

Lampiasi responded with two personal insults. One, “actual scientist’ accuses me of having pretensions of being a scientist. The Clerk added her poor behavior to the mix by smirking. We were talking chemistry and chemicals with engineers, so scientific information was pertinent and necessary to explain my argument. Next, she accuses me of being a climate change denier. That is a global calumny intended to further discredit me personally, not my argument. She further shoves her insult deeper with the suggestion that I should get some education of some sort. This was extremely disrespectful behavior. None of what Lampiasi said reflects well upon her. In short, she got nasty. She went off the deep end.

After Lampiasi finished her personal attack which completely lacked decorum and violated council rules prohibiting personal attacks, I made a point to put on record my official rebuke. Marchetti forbade the opportunity. So, that left me with no option except to call a spade a spade. I told her to suck an egg. Her response was pretty overboard too and not much different than her original attack.

Do they really think the citizens don’t se their lies? This is one of the main driving forces for people to leave the Pitts and find a better functioning government. I’m sick of them all. Liar tyer-moralass’ snowgate diatribe was/is just another in a long line of insults to the injury taxpayers are continually subjected to.

One of Pittsfield’s taxpayers expressed his righteous displeasure with city officials, including his nasty ward councilor, last night over damage caused to his vehicle/tire. Another citizen also voiced her displeasure over PPD police officers failing to identify themselves. This is nothing new with the PPD. I also wasn’t surprised that the taxpayer paid insurer the city contracts with denied liability for the man with the damaged vehicle. Because this is nothing new either.

Several years ago, a police car, being operated by a police officer, caused damage to a vehicle I insured. After causing damage the police officer neglected to identify himself. When I filed a claim with the city insurance, I was informed that I would have to provide the cop’s name. So, I went to the police station and requested the cop’s name. I was directed to the traffic division. I provided them with the date, time, and the number on the city owned police cruiser. I paid a fee for the incident report, including the name of the cop who was the operator of the police cruiser. I was informed that I would receive the information I requested and paid for in 10 business days. When I didn’t receive the information, I requested and paid for, I went to the police station again. At that time, I was given the usual evasive run-a-round, which included that the police officer had not filed his report, yet. I played this game with the cops for over 8 weeks. I continued to have contact with the city’s insurer, even going so far as to suggest that they deal with the PPD and get the name of the cop responsible for the damage he caused to a vehicle I insured. Several months passed, and I continued to request the Pittsfield cop’s name and his incident report. After a year of this, I received a letter from the city’s insurer informing me that my claim was denied for insufficient information. And this isn’t an isolated case.

Facts always get in the way of the racial hustle.

Dumpster Persip loves to flaunt his “race card” when someone disagrees with his stance. He also loves to pontificate to “people who look like me,” but never does anything to really help them. He’s helped himself certainly. That’s obvious.

Even though the Eagle will do story after story of the white panhandlers, the real issue is with the gangs, drugs, and gun play, by young POC.

C’mon Dumpster you got on Sir Chaz when he rightfully questioned the fraud, waste, and abuse, of taxpayer money with the DIE Office. Why isn’t OB dealing with the young, violent POC? City employees don’t need more LGBFUCKME training. Time to pull up the big boy pants and deal with the real issues. DA Wrong Way found out too. There are only so many Lonnie Durfee’s out there Dumpster. That ship sailed.

Over a $1,000,000 to a PPS city employee in ARPA money hasn’t done squat. She did take a vacation at our expense to explore her roots in Africa. Not sure how that helps either?

Dumpster? OB? Dr. Shirl PhD-race hustlin’? Any plan to do with the young POC you claim to advocate for? We are all ears.

Foreign born Alex Blumin is more knowledgeable about civics than the entire lot of allegedly elected city officials, past and current. Alex is on my short list of righteous citizens the city of Pittsfield would actually benefit from serving on the city council and in the mayor’s office. I’ve had several conversations with Alex. Alex possesses integrity and sensibility. Not once in any of my conversations with Alex has he been on the wrong side of right when it comes to Pittsfield politics or human issues. I also like the fact that Alex says what’s on his mind and in his heart, instead of the usual BS lies we get from the greedy smarmy charlatans who claim they LOVE PITTSFIELD and they just want to serve Pittsfield and its taxpayers/citizens for the good of Pittsfield and its citizens.

In 2011 the city of Pittsfield had a good honest choice for mayor when Steve Fillio, another man of integrity, ran for mayor. Steve Fillio is also on my short list of human beings who actually possess integrity and Pittsfield would have been lucky to have in the corner office. My short of ethical human candidates also includes Joe Breault, Gene Maselli, Joe Nichols and Rick Scapin. I believe Ed Carmel’s heart is in the right place too when it comes to doing the right thing for the right reason for Pittsfield and its taxpayers/citizens.

May I suggest that instead of listening to the usual barge of garbage reptiles Krol and Marchetti are plotting to spew all over the taxpayers of Pittsfield and have been spewing since the day they got their hoofs in the door, citizens should just look up their past infamous records which are full of the usual SHITTY LIES told by smarmy unscrupulous scheming greedy reptiles who are only in it for the enrichment of themselves.

City delivers report on failed response to Christmas weekend storm to Pittsfield city council | WAMC

Mayor Linda Tyer stated: Government’s greatest responsibility is to ensure the safety of our citizens and to ensure that our community is safe and we take that seriously.

Is that why over 1,000 gang members live in inner-city Pittsfield? Is that why Pittsfield has long been in the top 10 cities in Massachusetts for violent crime, according to the FBI’s annual crime report? I that why Linda Tyer lives in an elitist Gated Community neighborhood far away from the rest of the people who live in Pittsfield?

Pittsfield storm debacle last month is yet another example of failed leadership in Pittsfield politics.

Old News…McKeever has been replaced by former Dan Bianchi Admin Assistant Julia Sabourin. She’s been issuing press releases almost daily for weeks now. That alone is refreshing. Even releases on cases they lost.

Will the city pay for the damage, or weasle out of it – similar to what happened with a city resident and his tire damage?

I don’t think Lampylousy will be sipping nine dollar coffee or $18 mixed drinks anymore, but she will start listening to the Kopanski but most of all she’ll have to start sleeping in her bed and not at the city Council meetings. G-man had to chastise Both Lampy and Krol for falling asleep during city Council meetings. Its a long fall from Grace but a much harder climb to the top, these two are washed up,next person come forward please

From iBerkshires:

On Saturday, Jan. 14, at approximately 10:59 a.m., the city plow was westbound on Linden where it “rolled” through the stop sign colliding with a 2007 Mazda, according to the police report.

Some of the information was redacted, but the driver of the Mazda appeared to report minor injuries and was taken for medical care by an unknown individual. The car was towed from the scene and the operator of the plow truck was found at fault.

Although Morales did not make it to the scene in time he did pull the information on the truck’s GPS that confirmed what was shown in the video, that the plow truck seemed to be at fault. The data also showed that the employee was traveling at approximately 20 miles per hour, Morales said.

So did the plow truck “roll” through the stop sign at 20 MPH? What a city, run by a bunch of fools.

If you are a dept. head in Pittsfield and the mayor tells you to redact information you do it and do not ask questions. Unless of course she or her city solicitor did it when it came before them. But the main thing is, if you cannot totally cover something up (say someone comes out with an indisputable video) then you cover up as much as possible. Corner office 101.

By the way has this video gone viral on YouTube yet? If not it needs to with a nice big title.
Would love to know why the Eagle did not think a city plow plowing into a car was newsworthy when they did do a huge story on someone getting a fruit fly in their ice cube. Guess I will never be a news editor.

You didn’t bring this to the public’s attention, the video was all over Facebook well before you talked about it.

In case you haven’t paid attention, PPD sent a staff member to training on FOIA rules who misinterpreted or has no clue of what they were told and have been inappropriately redacting names on releases for a few years now. Not any big conspiracy, just a clueless administrative person.

Most likely this accident will/has subjected the driver to disciplinary action so it’s appropriate not to be sharing their name. “Recklessness”? You think that driver intentionally ran the stop sign? Come on, it could have been any number of distractions that caused that collision; cell phone use, 2 way radio use, fatigue, dropped something in the cab of the truck, etc. It does not automatically equal reckless behavior. People have crashes every day and aren’t branded reckless.

The Planet does not tell the truth. Rather you listen to all your anti city conspiracy theorists that feed you poop, you throw all that poop against the wall of this website. On rare occasion there is a speck of fact to it like a little nugget of corn and like the blind squirrel you have tripped over the proverbial nut.

Because the driver is the kid of someone connected. duh. If any of us flew through a stop sign in a monster truck and creamed a car it would be newsworthy. Social media spats – newsworthy! Municipal truck creams car – shhh!

I never met Councilor Charles Kronick, but I admire what I read about him. I may not always agree with him but, I have to say, Kronick has guts and brains. Many times, he is critized, as brainy and courageously as gutsy people usually are in our area, but I have to say I am glad we have a counselor who has guts and brains enough to articulate issues and make sense of them. One may not always agree with what his statements, but pay attention. What he says almost always makes sense and is good for Pittsfield.

Biden said months ago that if we send tanks and planes to Ukraine that would be called WWIII and he will not do that. Here we are months later and 60 billion dollars has been sent to Ukraine and now we are sending tanks and planes there and everybody thinks it’s great. The far left globalist Dems don’t want to have any conversation about it. They must have their fallout shelters all set up. They will protect themselves in the case of a WWIII.

The New York Times is saying today that Biden is reluctantly sending tanks to Ukraine, but he gives no speech about it to the American people to show us that this is an agonizing decision for him. He just goes ahead and escalates our role in this proxy war and doesn’t care what we the people think about it. Biden knows the public in this country doesn’t want a WWIII, but he is pushing ahead anyway because he is a globalist and his globalist friends are telling him this war has to escalate.

Most Americans are not aware of it, but we are fighting a war between the globalists and the nationalists. The nationalists include Russia and Germany and the globalists are America, thanks to Joe getting us involved with the globalists, France, England, Germany, Canada, and other countries. It’s literally about control of the world. Americans are being kept in the dark about what is really going on by keeping everybody fighting about so many other issues. The globalists want one world government. The nationalists are also looking for power in an equally oppressive way. Neither the globalists or the nationalists want freedom for the people of the world.

I’ve been waiting for someone to comment on your picture of the Police car parked illegally and plowed in. Amazingly no one has said a word. Why can a police car park illegally during a snow emergency? You know it has been there awhile because it is covered in snow, plowed around(no broken windows by the way) and the end of the driveway was shoveled out. So why wasn’t the police car cleaned off? What if there was an emergency the car had to get to? And is it protocol for police cars to be driven home? I have many other questions about the picture but those can get things started.

Who’s to say the cop was home? PPD officer Miles Barber was in the habit of parking a taxpayer funded police cruiser outside the home of his girlfriend during the time he was on duty, getting paid to protect and serve. The police cruiser is clearly in violation of Pittsfield’s parking ban during a snowstorm. But not to worry, obviously no one, including the cop’s supervisor was missing the taxpayer funded cop or the taxpayer funded police cruiser for the duration of a storm that lasted long enough to bury the police cruiser under a pile of snow. And it obviously didn’t bother the plow driver who didn’t report this parking ban violation and didn’t have it towed.

Partial from eagle article on SnowPlowgate.

Alameda said a witness who saw the accident came over to check on him. The witness drove Alameda to the hospital where doctors told him they didn’t see signs of broken bones.
More than a week later, Alameda said he’s still in a lot of pain and very bruised from the accident. His Mazda is totaled and he said he’s waiting on his insurance to get back to him with next steps. Alameda said no one from the city has reached out to him.

The city certainly would not reach out to him in any way, shape or form. Any acknowledgement or apology would be a hint at acceptance of liability. This man has a MAJOR lawsuit on his hands and I hope he contacted a personal injury lawyer immediately.

Someone must have called the cops after the city plow failed to stop at a STOP sign and plowed into a vehicle that had the right of way. The PPD have an obligation to provide the injured party with the identifying information of the driver of the city plow truck and his insurance information. But Pittsfield cops are funny. The injured driver should absolutely contact a lawyer. Fuck the city of Pittsfield. The guy that was plowed into by a city employee, driving a BIG city plow truck, because said city employee ignored a STOP sign, is lucky to be alive.
