PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION FEB. 17-9, 2023) — The reconstitution of a council meeting involves water and spoon — water because these meetings arrive freeze-dried and in need of stirring.

This Tuesday, the council took up the usual mix of pabulum and steak. in the first category, viewers saw

  • A nervous DPW commissioner’s body language speaking in tongues, which some interpreted as lying and others in-over-his-head defensiveness.
  • Sir Charles running circles around a limp-waisted city solicitor on the legalities of board/commission membership.
  • A quote that should be chiseled into the stone of The Highland’s foundation, Earl Persip’s gem, “I’m not sure what we’re doing up here” (you ain’t the only one, man).

The red meat came with two issues:

  • The ballot question on bike lanes
  • A proposed grant of $250,000 to EMA, better known as Spacely Space Sprockets of the BIC.

———- ooo ———-

Bike Lanes

A couple meetings ago, the council voted to approve a ballot initiative to put the question of the downtown bike lanes before the voters. It was a nine-member meeting, with Tony Maffuccio and Persip AWOL. The measure, initially introduced by Karen Kalinowski, passed 5-4.

Done deal, right? So thought THE PLANET and every citizen in town.

Nope.

Seems that in the intervening two weeks, The Suits and Stiffs messed around with the question’s language and figured out a technicality they hope will keep We The People from voting those bloody bike lanes back to oblivion.

Persip espoused some mumbo jumbo with solicitor Pagnotta acting as straight man. It was a well-rehearsed act. Persip and Pags continued their third-rate Abbott and Costello bit until Persip uttered the punchline by calling for a charter objection. A brief exchange between Kalinowski and Earl made it clear that the latter was boiling that the measure passed the night he was MIA.  God forbid the voters should have a chance to decide on something that affects the daily life of every citizen of the Pitts.

To use the phrase that the mayor used last year when she spit on Kronick’s charter objection to the obscenely bloated budget, Persip introduced “manufactured chaos.”

The charter objection will delay the matter two weeks, an extra 14 days for The Suits to cook up further technicalities to shut out Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski.

———- ooo ———-

EMA

This one the council got right, 8-2, approving a PEDA grant of $250,000 for EMA. Most of the grant will be used to pay for a new piece of equipment for the firm’s optical lab.

Pittsfield leads the league in giving PEDA money to a long line of colossal failures, con acts, and grifters. Point well taken, but this one looks different.

EMA came to town with a TIF and $140K in PEDA seed, promising to create six jobs. It created eight. It says with this new money and equipment, it will double the eight to 16. All told, the company has more than fulfilled the terms of their initial deal with the city. Past is prologue, and there’s no reason why that shouldn’t continue.

Generally, THE PLANET loathes these dreaded public-private partnerships. The public takes the loss, while the private takes the money and books outta town.

EMA is the right company (high-tech development of software and applications in several fields including space, electromagnetism, optics) at the right time (these industries are gaining a foothold in Massachusetts), at the right place.

Have a great weekend, everybody.

Dumpster is a hypocrite plain and simple. Two things, he wasn’t there for a vote to decide the future of the bike lanes with a referendum vote. Then he complains the future of the bike lanes should have no say from the people who pay for it? The other thing was the charter objection. Wasn’t he the one criticizing Kronicks charter objection last year and walked out of the room? Yup. Quite frankly there are council members who are lazy they don’t do the work and never go the extra yard ever.

Hell, they even wanted to shorten the meetings and have put time limits on them. So far they haven’t had their way on that one., Warren questioned Pagnotta the other night. Didn’t have an answer and deferred to the Councilor ( K G )I’ll take your word on it. That’s what he said. Isn’t Pagnotta supposed to…Know These Answers?????? Isn’t that a job requirement?

Earl watched closely as Shirley got her bread buttered. It seems like if you are willing to forgo all self esteem, nice things, sometimes involving money, can happened to you in Pittsfield.
He has shown he is willing to bow down to the power people.

He can now sit back and wait for his ship to come in. A great example for those he represents? And, just who does he represent, other than himself?

Yes and his clever puns. Consider trash talk or chump change? The main thing I don’t like about him, he pretends to be for and against for all the wrong reasons, if his dumpster diving didn’t persuade people that he’s a chameleon, then nothing will.

One other annoying bit is his hypocracy. He literally left after Charles charter objection last summer. But his was ok?hell no. And whatever the reason he missed the last meeting was for,he should’ve stated something somewhere along the line that that plow driving through the stop sign hitting another vehicle wasn’t acceptable.

Or was the reason he wasn’t at the meeting he didn’t want to give Ricardo any grief? My advice to Earl, walk the talk. Or just talk a walk this November.

The 24.5-year-old PEDA debacle is still very polluted with GE’s PCBs, and it is still accumulating millions of dollars in always growing larger financial liabilities that will never be paid off. Why did Pittsfield ever agree to this fiasco in the first place? Why is Pittsfield still pouring money into this black hole of waste? It should have always been a Superfund site!
North Street hosts somewhere around two dozen empty storefronts. Dangerous downtown Pittsfield is sarcastically called “Social Services Alley” by day and “The Shooting Gallery” after hours with the over 1,000 gang members who live in inner-city Pittsfield. North Street’s bike lanes is yet another gimmick by Pittsfield politics.

Why not allow a vote on the bike lanes? What are they afraid of? I love how they say the bike lanes have calmed traffic and now there are fewer accidents. The reason ( not even sure it’s true) is because drivers avoid North Street, like lactose intolerant people avoid dairy. There is now more traffic on Center and First streets.

That is where the traffic should be, allowing the people who want to shop North Street less traffic to navigate thru and easier parking. Parking is way easier with the bike lanes. If you don’t believe me, go try for yourself. No one honking horns or trying to get around you while you park. It’s never been easier.

Because no one goes downtown, but the people who work there. Bike lanes hardly used. Most of the bikes are traveling in the wrong direction or driving on the sidewalk. They should start ticketing the fools.

It is a perilous adventure just to be driving a car in Pittsfield. One must have balls of hardened steel or be just plain suicidal to ride a bike on ANY Pittsfield road. No painted lines, no painted crosswalks, very little traffic enforcement and a large population of roadway assholes make riding a bike an exercise in stupidity. And anyone who drives daily in Pittsfield surely knows this. Talk to any insurance agency about it. I got an earful without even asking.

It is not just the bike lanes they are concerned about. They are freaking out that if one issue goes to a referendum the people might start to wake up and realize they may have a voice. Tyer, the Petes and the rest of their special interest cabal want to shut this REFERENDUM thing down NOW! No referendums today, tomorrow or the next day on ANT subject that challenges the regime.
If you had read the Eagle Our Opinion column a little while back where they trashed Norht st, you could read between the rest of the lines that it was the REFERENDUM that had them shatting their pants.

They are afraid of being told from the voters that they messed this bike lane fiasco up badly. Can’t tell them they were wrong. That’s why they are afraid of letting a majority of citizens to be heard from voting.

I personally like the bike lanes – they slow things down and give North St the feel of a pedestrian mall. Not to mention riding my bike. When I’m in a hurry I always take First St anyway. But I do feel the referendum should go ahead – there’s no reason the citizens shouldn’t be the ones who decide.

That can be chiseled onto the Highland’s foundation, but let’s also give Dumpster Persip credit for his other gem, “they look like me.” This in reference to using his race as the only reason he should be voted onto the CC when he was running for his seat.

He’s pretty much proved that to be spot on. He used his grift, I mean race, as the sole reason. It’s certainly not his intelligence or the time and effort he puts into his work as a city clown-slor.

Earl the floor is yours. What have you done for POC, or people who “look like me,” since you’ve been in office?

Keep in mind, being a frontman for the PhD. of Grift, aka-the cultural competency coach, doesn’t count. Using taxpayer money to pay for a family and friend’s vacation only helps her and a few others. Not the many she claims to help. Sorry to be the one to break it to you Earl, but I do realize you have a hard time understanding basic concepts, unless you’re prepared with the answers ahead of time. I’ve tried to simplify for you.

Will you be rolling out the Byrd scooters again for the juvenile POC’s to clog up the bike, I mean traffic lanes of North Street when it warms up Earl?

Asking for a friend (Ricky Rumpus) and his fight against “climate change.”

Very sneaky council. The Guiel Kavey exchange a couple weeks ago disturbed many people, ganging up on a councilor, like little spoiled brats. The funny of the recent meeting t was when Pag Not Uhhh limped up to the podium and Warren said, bike accident? North Street?

Does the Mayor have just One administrator that has done the job? Can anyone name one?

Deja vu, I remember the fireworks, I don’t remember what ignited them. Mazzeo was on the city council at the time. Somehow a gnat got into the ointment of fixed votes. Or more precisely, a gnat was absent from the ointment of fixed votes. Mazzeo was rightfully under the impression that an issue had been voted on and settled at a previous meeting. But something had gone wrong, and Mazzeo was unceremoniously notified by Boloney Dohoney that First VOTES don’t count, which would necessitate an illegal do over vote to achieve the in the bag results the suits had expected. Ironically that predictable black DUMPSTER gnat was present for the second illegal vote and that made all the difference.

P.S. People don’t kill people, guns do!

Persip doesn’t want referendums and he didn’t want any public participation initially for Wahconah park. He also doesn’t want to at least look into a conservative water reconstruction. Just basically wants to blow money without reasonable exploration. And the problem I have with the e m a funding is the owners non willing participation to have concrete answers to his own financial status. Which means the t I f laws have to be changed. Creating jobs is fine but a lifetime of handouts for a successful company that now can AFFORD to pay their employees, should end.

and ask her how hard it is to hire teachers or policemen or municipal workers in her city? One of her successes is to have driven more middle class earners out of the city than any mayor before her because it is becoming more and more obvious to people that Pittsfield is a losing venture for them.
A two earner middle class couple can eek out a living, but once they start a family the dynamic changes. New cars, vacations, home repairs or saving for the kids college education evaporate. This couple is now living paycheck to paycheck trying to keep up with escalating utilities, transportation costs, child care, food and basic necessities. Then along comes tyer dumping on them with more and more and more taxes with no end in sight. And when given the chance to give the taxpayer a break, due to burgeoning city coffers, she says, HELL NO!
But if a special interest comes along with their hand out she pulls out the taxpayer wallet and cannot dole out the big bills fast enough. When a politician tells you who she is, believe her. And the same goes for whomever may follow in her shady footsteps.

If it’s fentanyl, not crack that’s interesting because it comes from inside

Crack Cocaine isn’t administered at the hospital and nobody’s dying from it.

THINK ABOUT IT

According to AddictionCenter.com, doctors and nurses account for some of the highest rates of substance abuse disorder in the workforce. The website estimates more than 100,000 medical professionals across the county are struggling with substance abuse — primarily addictions to Oxycodone and Fentanyl.

China and India, recognized as two main producers of fentanyl and its chemical precursors, have placed fentanyl and its related substances under regulation.

India.

Do we know anyone with connections to India.

Hmmm…. let me think for a moment…

EMA created jobs by getting grant funding for those jobs. Most are funded by two year grants, from MA taxpayers. If you are creating jobs by getting grants and those jobs will disappear after the grants go away, you are just grant churning. If you look at the list of “employees” they include a handicapped person, with a built in MDDC grant.
They’ve double counted employees that are out of state or are “consultants”. They count them in MA and they count them in the Pittsfield office. They are consultants, not actual employees and they work for Colorado.
What they did do is funnel money back to Colorado so they could move out of the strip mall with the dance studio and move into the Wells Fargo building.
The EMA grift continues.

Dan supports this because Krol told him to.

The liberal media spread so many lies about the Russia Trump collusion. Who is bringing a lawsuit against NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, Rachel Maddow, Good Morning Joe, NPR, and The View? For 4 years these liberal news outlets pushed this lie on the American public and harassed then President Trump. Where is the punishment for these phonies?

Are the current medical staff even doctors. No, retired doctors are accredited, and the practice is grandfathered under that license – the new physician assistant is not a doctor. Non of the current staff is a Medical Doctor.

Ding Dong the Witch is Gone!!! Liar Tyer for all the issues she did not solve in her reign. she actually believes that the highlight of her term is guiding the City through COVID? Does she not remember that Pittsfield had the highest numbers, or that nursing homes were almost closed, that public school children lack being educated or that many times Pittsfield was rated one of the highest cities/towns with COVID, and she was the only Mayor to shut down all restaurants for weeks. By her mandating this, it caused financial difficulties to the point of many businesses not able to survive. The ironical thing is her pompous shut down of these restaurants did NOT help with the spread of COVID. Having hearing and reading this comment from her, all I can think is that she, Morales and Cambi must still feel shear empowerment spending their careers testing the shi* of the hardworking taxpayers. The results of them spending their time testing our shi* resulted in a constant decline of living conditions, turning the City to SHI*. Also, her continuous mandate of holding ZOOM meetings only enabled her to go into hiding for most of her second term. Goodbye Liar Tyer, hope you enjoy your high taxpayer pension for a job NOT well done!

The Berkshire Eagle can’t figure out why only the wealthy are able to afford houses in Berkshire County. They give a list of reasons except for the real reasons. The far left doesn’t want people owing their own homes in the future. That will be a luxury for the wealthy. Most people will be piled on top of each other in rental units. Blackrock is also outbidding prospective home buyers and paying cash. Blackrock is scooping up these properties for the government so they can turn everyone into renters not owners. Pignatelli is saying this is a crisis and if this continues, America will not be a country with opportunity for all. Is Pignatelli really that out of touch with the goals of the far left globalists that he supports?

February 18, 2023

I read an interesting quote today (Saturday, 18-February-2023): “When you want to help people, you tell them the truth. When you want to help yourself, you tell them what they want to hear.” – Thomas Sowell

After I thought about that quote, I read a blog comment about Lenox State Representative Smitty Pignatelli’s disingenuous response to a news story in the Dirty Bird (Berkshire Eagle) about the ongoing housing crisis in Berkshire County whereby only the wealthy are able to buy a home with cash. On the Planet Valenti blog, “Pat” wrote: “Pignatelli is saying this is a crisis and if this continues, America will not be a country with opportunity for all. Is Pignatelli really that out of touch with the goals of the far left globalists that he supports?”

Then I read a letter to the editor of the Dirty Bird (Berkshire Eagle) about the need for single-payer healthcare insurance in Massachusetts. Michele Marantz of Dalton thanked Pittsfield State Representative Tricia Farley-Bouvier and Rep. Smitty Pignatelli for their ongoing support of a would-be single-payer system in Massachusetts.

The first bill for single-payer healthcare insurance was introduced on Beacon Hill way back in 1986, which is 37 years ago now. Smitty Pignatelli has been in Boston since 2003, which is a little over 20 years ago now. Tricia Farley-Bouvier has been in Boston since the Fall 2011, which is a little over 11 years ago now. After all of these years, the corrupt career politicians on Beacon Hill have filed many bills and said they support single-payer healthcare insurance over the greedy insurance companies, but at the end of the day, there is still no single-payer healthcare insurance in Massachusetts.

Please reread the quote by Thomas Sowell. Please review the ongoing housing crisis in Berkshire County. Please review the ongoing expensive healthcare insurance crisis in Massachusetts. After one does so, it is clear that Smitty Pignatelli is not helping people because he is not telling them the truth, but rather, Smitty Pignatelli is telling people what they want to hear because he only wants to help himself!

Maybe I am a retard but today I understood what take your second left means.

At a circle… take your second left omits a detail.

There is a decision required prior to the second left.

Omg…. I still don’t get it.

In a place you live, yes its clear…. but if you are in a place you’ve never seen before you need a direction to go straight left or right/ in order to take the SECOND left, do you also need to take the first left. Then why not say take two lefts wtf.

Ok, i understood for a brief I feel dumb af !

Sorry this is off subject. Why does BMC spend so much money advertising the Hillcrest Cancer Center? I’m so sick of hearing their advertising on local radio. If god forbid I am diagnosed with cancer, radio adds will have zero effect on my treatment. Maybe give the add money to the nurses. Just a thought.

The election season is going to be very interesting with the Gman participating. He takes the running for office seriously and fears no one. All he really cares about is keeping city residents in their homes and bringing fairness for the little guy speaking in the public session at CC meetings. He attends all CC MEETINGS AND HAS A WEEKLY TV SHOW ON PCTV. The Gman will make all CC MEETINGS INTERESTING AND FUN TO WATCH. HOPEFULLY CRAIG CAN MAKE REAL INROADS TO CITY GOVT. AND MAKE PITTSFIELD A PLACE TO BE PROUD TO CALL HOM 413 496 4598

He is Marchettis biggest nightmare. Because Marchetti cannot handle the truth and he won’t be able to just gavel Gataeni away like a peon trying to voice an opinion at Marchettis sacred podium.
In fact I doubt Marchettis has the courage to debate him. On ANY subject. He is going to run on his record ya know. That is beyond hilarious.

Look. If you like Tyer you will vote Marchetti or Krol or Krol or Marchetti. If you want four more years of misery then vote those two. If you want at least a little change vote that third or fourth candidate that joins the fray. We can’t have those two. Just can’t. If that doesn’t happen get at least two new councilors.
