LOOMING DEFAULT: REFRAMING THE LANGUAGE OF DEBT THREATENS GLOBAL CATASTROPHE

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION MAY 26-8, 2023) — This Memorial Day Weekend, we mourn the loss of sanity in government. THE PLANET will play three-dimensional chess with out grieving at both top (federal) and bottom (municipal).

At the top, politicians from both parties have allowed partisan knife-jabbing to jeopardize the savings accounts and Social Security of The Kapanskis, to say nothing of the strong chance of sinking the global economy. We speak, of course, of the looming possibly that Uncle Sam will default on its borrowing obligations.

Republicans and Democrats share equal blame. Both parties have for years spent recklessly by printing worthless money and issuing bonds, mostly to China. In short, America’s $31.4 trillion debt ceiling will either have to be raised ($34 trillion) OR, having run out of money, we fail to meet our obligations.

Imagein. The USA, Bad Credit Risk.

If that happens, as Curt Gowdy used to say after Williams or Jensen hit one out, “Goodbye Dolly Grey.” A President unable to climb a set of stairs without stumbling and often not knowing where he is does not inspire confidence. He’s ruined a functioning economy, allowed inflation to gobble up the purchasing power of “average” Americans, and refusing to acknowledge reality by not agreeing to spending cuts.

At present, the country is running on fumes, using reserves to keep the lights on literally day-to-day. When does the tank go dry? As early as June 1 and as late as June 15. What are the consequences?

  • Stocks would plummet with massive sell-offs (a good buying opportunity for those with cash)
  • More seriously, America would not pay what it owes on bonds. Market analysts agree the result for the global economy would be “cataclysmic.” How do you think foreign note holders will react when America doesn’t send its legally obligated dividends. Think it will give them leverage?
  • Social Security payments would be drastically reduced or cut.
  • Medicare payments to hospitals and doctors would cease. Same with Medicaid.
  • Bank runs.
  • Soaring interest.
  • Mortgage capital would dry up.
  • Home values would fall off the cliff.

In short, the value of everything would drop.

World Depression.

THE PLANET predicts the two sides will reach a last-minute agreement. We still believe that. If anything is too big to fail, it has to be the credit rating of America. It may not be big enough, though, to stroke the egos of the negotiators, who think that reframing the nature of “debt” will somehow make the problem go away. Playing chicken is for maniacs.

A U.S. default would finish off Biden, for sure. Silver lining.

For that reason alone, Democrats CAN’T let a default happen. It’s shaky, though, to realize that stupid politics and not calm and reason are driving negotiations between the White House and Congress.

Whatever happens, the United States of Amnesia will emerge more compromised than ever, mocked at home by We The People and jeered globally by both friends and enemies.

We are the world. And we are thinking the unthinkable.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend, everybody.

I read a news article:

Should the Proposition 2½ tax limit get the ax? (boston.com)

In Massachusetts, home values are decreasing, and commercial real estate is sinking. State revenues are now in the red during the Spring 2023. State and local revenue has to come from somewhere, as a predicted economic recession looms later this year 2023 and into next year 2024.

Mayor Linda Tyer’s proposed fiscal year 2024 municipal budget of over $205.6 million that starts in a little over one month from now on July 1st, 2023, flies in the face of all financial reality, but Pittsfield politics has long lived in the Twilight Zone.

The U.S. government’s debt limit federal law started over 100 years ago during WW1. There have been many negotiations on federal spending and borrowing on the debt ceiling votes over the years. 23 previous votes included negotiated compromises on raising the debt ceiling. The current impasse is not new, but the stakes have never been higher.

Joe Biden’s federal spending has been excessive with somewhere around $10 trillion dollars printed out of thin air since January 20th, 2021. Both political parties are deficit spenders. The federal government plays a lot of financial shell games that moves large amounts of money (mostly large numbers on computer screens) around and around without paying its bills in full.

To be clear, the national debt and other federal liabilities will never be paid off. Politicians have been and still are making financial promises that our children, grandchildren…. will be paying for long after we become memories.

Funny how no one hears a peep from the Massachusett’s sitting Congressional delegation. They should be out front telling these negotiators to find a compromise or everyone should stay in Washington until an agreement has been made!! Nobody in government should be home for the holiday weekend, if they are I and a Kapanski sees one I hope they give them a Bronx cheer and tell them to get this thing settled. If you are able to have a lengthy conversation tell them to get their head out of their arse and start following a better economic agenda to get the economy back to where it was just 2 years ago!

Call the crooks, er Reps in mASS, up to support Rep. Greene’s articles of impeachment for Mr Biden and cohorts.

They have looted the US Treasury to launder the booty with his friend Zelensky in Ukraine.

That is BILLIONS!!! Some is going to pay pensions, in Ukraine. None for SS or Medicare in, what used to be, the good ole USA.

There has been no accountability, for any of the Billions or weapons, transfered to Urkraine, none.

Some money did make it back to the Democrats (laundered), that’s been proven. Sam Bankman-Fried and FTX were the intermediary.

When this came out, and there was a call for accountability, the leftists had a hissy fit. Traitor Joe kept/keeps dumping more dollars into that black hole in Eastern Europe. This is still an ongoing fleecing of America.

Some of the weapons provided Ukraine, have shown up on the black market all over the world.

Not sure who is the bigger crook? Biden or Zelensky.

Your mesiah Donald Trump was impeached twice and accused of sexual misconduct two dozen times and election fraud a few times etc etc etc. You really should give him equal time because when either Biden or Zelensy stand next to him he looks like a sick little mouse.
By the way, speaking of Zelensky, did Donald Trump or any of his sons or extended family EVER serve in the military?

p.s. (insurrections to overthrow your own democratic government do not count)

Have you read the Durham report Fizze?

Both impeachments were based on a collusion hoax concocted by the H-Beast Clinton and the DNC 2016.

Biden, Soetero, THE FIB, and DOJ, were complicit with The Beast, in the sedition to tamper with elections and frame a sitting President.

They all belong in prison.

THE FIB needs to be purged of partisan upper adminisTRAITORS. Some of which also need to face charges.

The Biden crime syndicate is well documented in Hunter’s laptop from hell. Traitor Joe is hiding more documentation of this. Judical Watch has filed a FOIA to get records of:

“Records and/or communications from former Vice President Joseph R. Biden regarding:

Target will stand by its woke policies of hiding transgender transitioning from parents of even the very young elementary school children and all the surgeries and drug taking that involves. Target will continue to sell clothing for hiding body parts that the young find offensive furthering this push toward making more and more young people confused about their gender. The number of transgender youth is exploding and the goal of the far left seems to be to create androgynous people who can be male and female. It’s an evil plan to push this agenda on totally unsuspecting young people who don’t realize how they are being manipulated. People should push back against Target and any business that is promoting this insanity. I love our local Target and the people who work there, but as usual, it’s the far leftist activists who have infiltrated the company at the top who are creating these problems.

Why 32 teeth? Why not just 8 wider ones? And why do they only grow back once? Do it right and have them replace as needed through life.

We were all accepted for who we were in the 1970s even when, as young girls, we went through a tomboy phase and wanted nothing to do with wearing dresses. Fortunately nobody told us we needed to transition into being a male. That we needed surgery and medications. We were just accepted and everybody got on with it and eventually we rediscovered being female and life was beautiful. What is happening today is just too extreme. It’s not about acceptance. It’s about coercion. There are some people who are transgender, but not the numbers that the media and the far left wants us to believe. Real transgenders have always made up a very small percentage of the population until gender confusion was intentionally introduced into the school system and now more and more young people believe they are transgender.

No, I didn’t know what I was. I wasn’t even familiar with the word tomboy when I was being a tomboy. I certainly looked like I could be a boy or a girl in several pictures I have of myself during those years, but that’s part of the maturing process. Today, that would be enough to have people telling me I was trapped in the wrong body. This is the danger because you are young and can be easily led to believe you are something you’re not and have irreversible changes made to your body. Many young people who have gone through the surgeries and hormones are regretting it now.

Don’t mutilate a child with surgery or pump them full of hormones. The left likes to tell us that the brain doesn’t fully develop until age 26. When people reach that age they can make their own choice. It’s bull shit to encourage a child that they were born in the wrong body. Science tells us women have XX chromosomes and men XY chromosomes. No amount of surgery can change XX or XY to the other.

No, no more than if I defined myself to be a teakettle that I could take on someone else’s identity. To be cute, you could say, “Ah, but some have said, “I am not a man, but a cathedral.” If that person is not insane, he must be saying that his body functions as a cathedral of the lord but is not a functioning cathedral replete with pews.

So we can rule out that argument by saying the concept of cathedrals as it applies to a body applies in a very strict sense. You are expanding the definition of cathedrals. It does not then allow one to broadly redefine identities.

By the way, there was a young woman,
Rachel Dolezal, who was a president within the NAACP. She was a Eurocaucasian WASP, but she fancied herself a direct descendent of Africans, inspite of her having two parents who had no African lineage and her not being adopted. No six degrees of separation for her. To fix that mistake, she died her skin, her hair, and adopted a African American persona and proceeded to misrepresent herself. In the end, the NAACP realized the fraud and dismissed her. In short, the logic just isn’t universal, and if it isn’t universal it is not logic.

“She was disingenuous.

Really, though. Disingenuous means insincere. Dolezal was completely sincere. The problem was not her ‘intention’ but her logic. She made an impossible claim.

The example of Dolezal is glaring, but the exception is strictly that she became a public name.

Gender dysphoria is a term that describes a sense of unease that a person may have because of a mismatch between their biological sex and their gender identity.

Gender dysphoria is a form of mental illness. It is something that needs to be addressed not celebrated. It’s something that requires treatment, in most cases it can be rationalized away with counseling. In the rarest of cases it can’t be fixed and gender reassignment is required to mitigate a mental health crisis.

The problem facing today’s children is that there are too many mentally ill teachers and school administrators that want to add to their numbers. They don’t care about the children, they care about seeming normal by creating more like them. They are predators who prey on the weakest and offer them “solutions” that will only do them harm.

Try watching the news and question what is being said and what questions are/aren’t asked and you will see a slanted to the left presentation. Anyone who does not see this has to be to far brainwashed left to recognize what is going on. That is why I read and then try to research on the topic at hand. The part that is incorrect is to say that gender dysphoria is a form of mental illness that can be rationalized away with counseling. The same used to be believed about homosexuality. Calling it a form of mental illness is giving short shrift to the people who feel that way, and is an outmoded concept, like homosexuality. The APA now recognizes neither as mental illness.

If we do not meet our obligations to those who lent us money, the cost of borrowing will skyrocket. This will mean either higher taxes, less spending or, most likely, more borrowing. Even if we do management to raise the debt limit, we are facing, ah, higher taxes, less spending and most likely more borrowing. Neither party wants to get spending in line with revenue although the Democrats are far worse than the Republicans in creating deficits. The key question is for how long can this continue? Nobody knows. We are not the ugliest partner at the world-wide dance for money and we might keeping dancing (i.e. borrowing) for some time. Then we might not. By not having any plan to cut the difference between spending and tax revenue, we could easily have the outcomes that the Planet lists. Furthermore, if it doesn’t happen soon we have saddled our children and grandchildren with a burden that will be difficult to bear.

Most of the government’s money and debt are only numbers on a computer screen. The government is playing financial shell games. Over the past 50 years, most of the income gains went to the top 1 percent of wealthy people and entities, while the middle-class has been systematically decimated by the financial, corporate and ruling elites. The real economic growth is in our nation’s huge underclass’ misery. Unless one is part of the elites, especially the top 1 percent, it won’t make any difference if the government continues to deficit spend for many more years to come.

To illustrate: Joe Biden says that he is proud of his son Hunter’s “bad boy behaviors”, Kamala Harris called Joe Biden a racist on national TV, but she serves as his loyal Vice President, Ed Markey blows a lot of “HOT AIR”, Elizabeth Warren does not live on or near Main Street, U.S.A., Richard Neal lives on K Street, Paul Mark is a big rubber stamp State Senator, Tricia Farley-Bouvier fights for illegal immigrants to have state driver’s licenses and for Happy Endings massage parlors, Smitty Pignatelli writes op-eds pointing out the losses in population and living wage jobs in Berkshire County while state and local taxes always increase, John Barrett III called the proposed homeless shelter in North Adams a threat to the community, Linda Tyer lives in a mansion in a Gated Community, the Pittsfield City Council is a forum of retribution, the Pittsfield School Committee symbolizes Level 5 public schools, and North Street has 15 empty storefronts.

What is my point? It is that there is NOBODY in government representing the common people who roll their eyes in disgust at their corrupt career politicians’ DISSERVICES.

Does Pittsfield have the same debt problem? Are our and our children saddled with ginormous debt if they stay in Pittsfield? And, if so, would an ethical money manager advise against living in Pittsfield? Uh, yah they would.
This is the time of year when many young men and woman graduate from high sochol and face challenges as to their future. Some will be able to somehow afford college. Some will seek employment. Some may join the military. And too many will begin their lifelong journey of living off the system.
So this is an important turning point in ones life. My own personal sage advise is that whatever you choose to do, and wherever you choose to do it, don’t do it in Pittsfield, Ma. Don’t start your future with two strikes against you.

And good luck in your new surroundings. You will not miss the dark shadows of Pittsfield. I promise.

Charles Kronick

Logical question, K. I have an open ended angle on it. Do ‘normal’ financial policy work in sociopathic hands?

Question is, does ‘default’ really make it more expensive to borrow? Wouldn’t the actual cost be the same over extended time?

Case 1: Raise the debt ceiling. Low interest results in expanded purchasing. Our promise to pay secures high bond rating. High debt, low cost per dollar. Pass the debt forward as it is too high to manage. Defaults would be waived by transferring property to international creditors. Foreclosure, in other words.

Case 2: Do not raise the Debt Ceiling. High interest results in reduced purchasing. Low debt at high cost per dollar. Reduced expansion of debt means it can be managed. No defaults, wealth remains American.

The impact of losing bond rating is that borrowing will fall in short term, but maybe not over the long term. We would experience recession, lose opportunity to trade. But, we would not lose our actual wealth in resources. In other words, we remain a rich nation. Maybe we choose between a recession today which managed properly by not bailing out banks and cities (political bailouts), or a huge collapse later which would yield foreign ownership over sovereign interests? Now would be a good time to review the history of Carthage. Some guy, I can’t find his essay, reminds us that the Carthaginians ruled the seas until a small upstart, Italians today, copied their ships and took over. Carthage vanished, but they still are good source of table salt. Sound familiar? America will always have resources to exploit, just won’t necessarily be ours. Ask the Carthaginians.

A strong credit rating, as sought by the original generation of American leaders was to gain the ability to exploit the wealth in our nation, industrialize, and and attract capital. They had a nation to build, and it began by copying British ships and banks.

I think that objective changed. The proper use of a high credit rating is to secure low interest loans for high performing necessary investments. We do not do that. How can we when Washington is so big now that half of the population State of Virginia are Federal Employees? That is a ton of spending on overhead just to manage overhead.

Easy to see under the microscope. The City of Pittsfield uses a arguably inflated bond rating to borrow irresponsibly. We borrow for schools we do not need, vehicles we don’t need or replace due to mistreatment, and we casually talk about doing so for baseball park extravaganzas that we do not need and police stations that will not actually reduce crime.

“None of this will transpire, of course. Our society is run by a technocratic-managerial class that never pays a price for failure. Democracy is a glossy finish over an unelected administrative state that isn’t really accountable to anyone and measures success or failure in terms of budgets, p.r. and power, not results.

People who allow words to hurt them will probably have a host of other problems in life. Consider the source, thank them for their warning about how they feel and move the hell on, a bit wiser about life and that person.

People are people. They have bias s and prejudices, some with a sound basis and others not so much. But to think, after four thousand years of war and just every day silly human confrontation, that we are going to somehow make all humans like and get along with each other is nuts and a gross waste of time. It is what we do. It is a part of our makeup. Deal with it.

Wallace’s preoccupation with race was based on his belief that black Americans comprised a separate and inferior race. In a 1963 letter to a social studies teacher, Wallace stated they were inclined to criminality – especially “atrocious acts …such as rape, assault and murder” – because of a high incidence of venereal disease. Desegregation, he wrote, would lead to “intermarriage…and eventually our race will be deteriated (sic) to that of the mongrel complexity.”

I could just as easily expound on the perils of out of wedlock births, or the subsidized adoptions of foster children by dysfunctional lesbians, dykes, queers, bisexuals, transgender, intersexed, asexual, nonbinary, interracial same sex freaks.

Thank GOD, you’re not my neighbor. I really couldn’t f#c*king stand it if you were. There’s already one especially egregious negro much too close for my comfort. You missed the point completely. Slavery was abolished in 1865. And yet those negro savages still can’t, or just won’t assimilate into civilized society. But you’re still getting all stompy over a 6-letter word. Sticks and stones, fuck you! Yes, the negro was treated badly after being sold into slavery, by its own kind. But in the last week, in the year of our Lord, 2023, while channel surfing, I can’t even begin to count the number of times I heard the nigger use the offending word “NIGGER” against one of its own in movies. The nigger is either offended by the word, or it’s not. Obviously, it’s not. Musical lyrics spewed by the nigger are laced with obscenities, especially the 6-letter word, NIGGER! The nigger doesn’t hate the word, it actually loves the word. So much so that it’s wants to own it, exclusively. When a civilized society should be more concerned with good roads, good schools, and lower taxes, instead, the BLACK LIES Negro is exploiting every opportunity to BURN. LOOT, and MURDER. Thus, throwing civilized society into chaos.

Marchetti is running on raising taxes to pay for Milltowns profits.Milltown should be embarrassed to ask Veterans on SS to support their business. SS pays on average 1700.Marchetti should be afraid of Kroll but only if Kroll pledges to stop spending and get rid of every new position created by Tyer for the last 8 years. There are 1500 high school kids in kids in 500,000 feet of buildings.Pittsfield high is 100 years old and has no parking or playing fields. There are now 4 Catholic churches in Pittsfield reflecting population. The school committee needs every student over at the new Taconic high building

Wow! I agree with you on this one! Krol might pledge away but it’s before the election. After the election is over is what counts. Both candidates are one in the same.

Great points. From some I’ve heard is that Pete seems robotic in his campaign along with an appearance of showing a lack of outward enthusiasm that Krol is showing.

Robotic as in like the way a puppet moves? Herky jerky like? Only moved by control of others? Pete IS and HAS BEEN, by choice, simply a cog in a machine. He was/is a pathetic city council president and if you fail at that you have zero credibility running for any higher office.

And he knows more than anyone else that he let his city down. Made fools of those who put their trust in him. But to then run for mayor, he is now giving them both middle fingers

I should also state that I’m not buying Krol’s rah, rah approach. In the end he will be not much different. He is just better at kissing babies and stealing their lollipop’s (Red October) than Pete.

Marchetti has raised every voters taxes 20% to 30% in two budgets.Marchetti loses because he has to run on that.If I was to put 100 bucks on who is the next mayor its Kroll for not being part of the CC irresponsible numbers crunch.Pittsfield is targeted to be at 30k plus in 10 years. These budgets will also have to watch the FED bring us from 3.5 employment to 5.5 to over 2024.

I arrived late to last budget hearing – I had to make an emergency extraction of family from Albany for a call that came in at 4pm. But, while I was out, Marchetti did do some buzzing though in my absence.

Prior meeting, I requested reductions to line items. I am focusing not on pens and toner cartridges, but the extravagant raises to management. Over two years, they are enjoying a combined 15% hike. 7.5% 2023, and 5% this year combined with a slap on the back attaboy worth 2.5%.

Upon my return from Albany, I proceeded to address 8% pay hikes to management. Marchetti informs me I must make them line by line. Didn’t you know, he suggested, that we are not allowed to make bottom line reductions? I was taken aback by his suggestion that I should have known his change of heart, but rules change fast on the Council. In fact, they change very fast when a councilor starts mucking things up by asking for reductions.

Anyone bring a calculator to a budget hearing? Nope. Not even the President. Check the tape – I asked.

Krol is reckless, a showoff and a very poor judge of character. Have you no sense of decency, sir?

Where will Joe Biden be Monday? In the basement?

On Memorial Day 2017, President Trump spent his day at Arlington National Cemetery with Gold Star families. 5-year old Christian Jacob, who lost his father, ran up to him and asked if “he wanted to meet my Daddy?”, and showed him the headstone.

President Trump hugged him.

Trump also spent the whole Vietnam War dodging the draft. Five deferments? Must be a record. Anybody who can walk can go to a cemetery by the way. Perhaps you want to set the bar a little higher for your heroes.

McCain was never good for Americans in the Senate.

He did serve, and I’m sorry he got shot down and was a POW.

Of course not. But the taxpayer was aware of her credentials..She can’t do the job. This is why Mr.G’s idea was so keen. Have a super majority in all votes by city council, if and only if there is not a plurality in the vote tabulation for council. Call it. The Puppet Rule.

Other than Linda Tyer, Matt Kerwood…., Who else benefits from Pittsfield politics spending over $205.6 million starting on July 1st, 2023? How does spending so much money create and retain living wage jobs in Pittsfield? How does it stop the last 50 years on losses in population and living wage jobs in Pittsfield? How does it address the 15 empty storefronts on North Street? #Twilight Zone!!!!

I like the super majority idea. It will put a serious dent in the 6-5 simple majority of tyers rubber stamps. We should have initiated the super majority idea a long time ago. I’m for the super majority idea

I would love to see if Marchetti and Krol are up to the challenge. I’ve watched Valenti’s tv show and Gaetani’s show. Both men can easily carry an hour. I’m not so sure John and Peter can do it without help . Come on boys .
