One of our buds in the car remarks, “Wow! They still have the Christmas decorations up?! Why?”
Another answers: “It’s a sign of a city that doesn’t care.”
It was quite the telling moment. Here we are six weeks after St. Nick’s visit, and the decorations, as pathetic as they are, still span Nothing on North and snake up its light poles. As problems go, it’s nothing, except …
… except that small stuff is Big Stuff. That is, ignoring all the tiny annoyances leads to one large diminution of a city’s quality of life. Graffiti, trash, outdated board and commission rosters, an antiquated website — such “little things” symptomize Bitchfield’s Biggest Problem: incompetence and uncaring on the part of its office holders. They say one thing but act another. In effect, you, the taxpayers, are paying them handsomely to destroy civic pride and further erode the shrinking faith you have in government at any level.
THE PLANET‘s Right Honorable Good Friends on the city council at their biweekly circle jerk have every opportunity to mention the Christmas decorations, or, for that matter, litter and trash, or the unreadable street markings and sunken manhole covers. These are relatively easy fixes, but they continue to be ignored. Oh, they will pretend to care, and they do. They care about themselves.

State police assigned to the D.A.’s office now enjoy privileged parking at the expense of Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski. This is on McKay Street near the corner of West Street. The blue signs read: “STATE POLICE PARKING 8 a.m.-5 p.m. M-F.”
The number of on-street, free, parking spaces continues to dwindle. This move eats up four more spaces formerly reserved for ordinary folk.
Let ’em eat cake.

Pittsfield needs to implement the Broken Window policy. As an avid reader of the Pittsfield PD Police blotter, I have a few questions. Is someone telling the Police to stand down? Is the company running the Homeless shelter allowing Drugs and Alcohol? I ask because Arrest are few and far between. A lot of warnings, advisements and trespass orders. Ambulance is at the Shelter Avg. 2 times a day. Pittsfield needs to get tough on grime and crime.
Could an immigrant sign up and get himself a bunch of goodies and then (because he has no identification anyway) go down the street or to the next town, and get more free goodies? And keep moving like a gypsy doing it all again and again?
What is to stop someone from doing this? Anyone could lose an ID along the way and just start life all over again. And again. And again creating multiple identities and ID cards. No one can really track millions of people from six different continents with more and more right behind them. I doubt they are insulting them by fingerprinting them.

Yeah, in what Howie Carr calls the “nationwide search of nationwide searches,” our “openly gay” (or is it “openly lesbian”?) guv finally decides on her former flame for the Supreme Judicial Court. Guv dumped Wolo for a woman 10 years younger, so appointing her shows how kind, merciful, and amicable she (Guv) truly is. We are blessed to have such people of strong character making decisions in the Bay State.
Ms Gabrielle Wolohojian has done very well for herself since moving on from the Guv.
I read the Dirty Bird (Berkshire Eagle’s) glowing editorial praising one of the worst State Representatives in the history of Massachusetts who is called Smitty Pignatelli. It is one of the worst editorials I have read in my life. I don’t think that Kafka or The Twilight Zone writers could have written a more distorted opinion piece. The Eagle’s editorial was a perfect illustration of 2 + 2 = 5.
I do not understand how the news media in Berkshire County praises these failed politicians. The only way it makes sense to me is that the Berkshire County news media, especially The Dirty Bird, operates in The Twilight Zone.

Read the fluff piece about the Pearl (Pittsfields new homeless shelter). They did not mention if they drug tested suspected users or check with a breathalyzer if someone is under the influence. Most shelters in MA. do this. Not fair to the people who are trying to stay sober and avoid that life altogether. Maybe they could cut down on the ambulance rides too.

Court saying that Biden is mentally challenged due to his age and serious cognitive issues so will not be held accountable even though he “willfully” kept documents. They didn’t mention that he also illegally kept them since he was VP not president. This is the same thing Trump is being accused of, but he can’t skate due to his age even though he was president and had every right to have those documents. The 2-tier justice system in this country is evil and should not be tolerated by the public.

This week, he told of a “recent” conversation with France’s Mitterand, who’s been dead for 28 years. Again this week, Biden did the same thing in talking about Germany, mentioning a recent talk with Helmut Kohl, who died in 2017. Hey, at least he more recently deceased than Mitterand. The Dems must be heartened at the progress their President has shown!
With the DOJ report on Biden’s mental state, these ‘reports’ are now looking very suspicious. This is how our KGB changes horses. A succession of ancient men who served a few years at best. Expect another lame horse to take the saddle.
