‘URBAN DOOM’: NOW PLAYING IN BITCHFIELD

BY DAN VALENTI

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY APRIL 1, 2024) — Urban doom.

THE PLANET wishes the phrase was an April Fool’s joke, but no. It’s an adjective-noun combination describing what Loon-Liberals, a.k.a. Democrats, have done to an increasingly number of American cities, including the city once known as Pittsfield.

Urban doom refers particularly to the widespread pattern of woke, politically correct, DIE politicians and office holders, a.k.a. Democrats, to launch policies that destroy downtowns. It’s happened and now it’s blossoming in Bitchfield, county seat of the famous and fabulous Berkshires, at a rapid pace turned into Mach III by–in this order of culpability–the school committee, the mayor, the city council, the superintendent of schools, and incompetent department heads (notably the finance department of city and schools, plus the DPW).

Jumpin’ Joe Curtis: “What, me worry?”

THE CRIMINALS:

  • SOCHOL COMMITTEE
    • Miss Jane Sara Hathaway
    • Peter “Jethro” Marchetti
    • Bill “Jed” Cameron
    • Dan “Sam Drucker” Elias
    • Diana “Ellie Mae” Belair
    • Bill “Mr. Drysdale” Garrity
    • Dominick “Dash Riprock” Sacco
  • MAYOR
    • Markey “The Moax” Maypo
  • CITY COUNCIL
    • Ward 1, Howdy Doody
    • Ward 2, Britt Bananadana
    • Ward 3, Wrinn Tin Tin
    • Ward 4, Sleepy
    • Ward 5, Cow Plop
    • Ward 6, Climate Change
    • Ward 7, Serre Sucker
    • AL, Porkchop
    • AL, Dumpster
    • AL, Costa Plenty
    • AL, Amazing
  • SUPT. OF SOCHOLS
    • “Jumping’ Joe” Curtis
  • INCOMPETENT DEPT. HEADS
    • Kufflinks Kerwood
    • “Tex” Behnke
    • Ricky Rumpus
    • Crime Dog McGrath

There are numerous signs of the downtown implosion, to be seen ubiquitously occurring is however you define “downtown”:

  • Bike lanes no one wants
  • bump outs that eat parking spaces and make street cleaning a year-round nightmare
  • speed bumps, narrowing of roads, roundabouts, and center strips
  • confusing signage
  • failure of small businesses to last due to punishing tax rates
  • little to no convenient parking
  • draconian enforcement of silly rules, lax enforcement of serious rules
  • increasing presence of social services
  • increasing presence of undesirables
  • poor lighting
  • Increased blight and trash
  • Empty storefronts
  • lack of shoppers and respectable, middle-class citizens
  • a perceived lack of public safety
  • Lack of a watchdog media

Each of these conditions, THE PLANET observes with objectivity, are present and are worsening in downtown Bitchfield.

———- ooo ———-

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful, small city …

“Urban doom” has been likened to “muni slow death.” If you study the roster above and take even a cursory look into their performance on behalf of Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski, you will find these people share certain characteristics:

They perfectly illustrate that corruption is a human condition, and that elected or appointed office (i.e., some combination of money and power) produces rampant greed, selfishness, and erosion of ethical values.

Heading the list of culprits would be the mayor, of course. The office of the mayor serves as the city’s symbol. As it goes, so goes the body. In Peter Marchetti, we see an indecisive, frightened man put into office through a small cadre of operatives that engineered a scandalous smear campaign against his most qualified opponent. Now 90-days into office (which means the kid gloves can come off!), the clueless has initiated a round of new spending the ramifications of which will echo in the city for decades.

Capital projects include the building of a new school on the sight of the Crosby school. Neither Marchetti nor Curtis have shared what this building will cost. The feasibility study, alone, will soak the Kapanski’s $1.5 million.

If that isn’t enough, the mayor wants to blow $40 million on a new ballpark. No one has shared the end goal. Is the aim to induce professional, affiliated baseball back to the city? To serve as an overflow for the influx of illegals? What?

The irony is that these destructive policies are being enacted by men and women who have attained office only because one-party rule has usurped republicanism. They have committed the perfect murder: Criminality that wears the shiny veneer of “completely legal.”

Urban Doom.

Playing in a city near you.

April FOOLS Day, 2024

Wouldn’t the school to be demolished and relocated in Pittsfield (Mass.) be the one that abuts Hill 78, which is GE’s capped leaky landfill full of PCBs industrial chemicals that causes brain damage, learning disabilities and cancer?

Wouldn’t city taxpayers be able to vote on the would-be $40 million project to rebuild Wahconah Park instead of the business as usual done deal handshakes and cashed-filled stuffed envelopes?

Wouldn’t Pittsfield politicians be able to pass an annual operating budget that would-be similar in cost to postindustrial small cities that are similar in size to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, instead of the current $205.6 million operating budget with an expected municipal spending increase of between 5 percent to 10 percent starting on July 1st, 2024 and ending on June 30th, 2025?

Wouldn’t downtown Pittsfield be a small business district instead of being a glut of social services agencies, empty storefronts, panhandlers, and parking headaches?

Sarcasm: I asked the fictional Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski working-class family who lives in Pittsfield (Mass.) these questions, and they told me that they were happy for me that 20 years ago now, I moved over 100 miles away from Pittsfield, MA, to Amherst, NH.

Will Pittsfield shut down entirely Thursday because it is woefully unprepared to handle a real snowstorm? Is there even anyone left in the city that knows how to coordinate plow crews assuming there is still such a thing?

So true and Dan you forgot to say that this was all self inflicted. The Pitts did not have to decay right in front of our eyes. They still have no clue on how to fix things. Just read where the Housing Director came in and said that capitalism doesn’t work for the housing shortage. Of course it does if the Government would stop gobbling up all these houses for group homes and giving out incentives for out of town contractors to build useless high end apartments, trying to get ready for the useless bullet train they want to spend billions on that no one will use. Again anything the government has gotten involved in has been a disaster so the easiest fix would be for the government to get out.
As for the city’s budget close Mercer, lay off all assistant superintendents, cut School Adjustment Counselors (Brien can help the students now that everyone has insurance), get rid of the extra principles in schools, etc. The list is endless on how they could save money but again they won’t!

Good points. There was plenty of housing before the State regulated the heck out it. They would argue that the regulations and restrictions rectified unsafe housing. Yet they still burn at a decent clip from inadequate wiring.

Pittsfield politics’ toxic stew: Good Old Boys, Special Interest Groups, the Suits, the city’s huge underclass population, failing public schools, little to no living wage jobs, one-political-party (Democratic) corruption, The Dirty Bird’s one-sided hit jobs without any due process of law, PCBs, Stinky Pot Kingdoms, Excessive municipal spending and debts, postindustrial decay and blight, no real political representative in any of the levels of government, high violent crime rates from at least 1980 – 2024, and Jimmy Ruberto’s infamous Rolodex….

My neighbor (Blue House #2, with no door) Tennesey De Sauer Mashe wrote a letter. We don’t talk much anymore. Our politics do not much agree. But I did see it before he stuffed it into a dirty lunch bag and left it for the postman.

To Edeetore:

Pardon me English. I write good Dutch which I write on reverse side. (crossouts, x marks….) Why write I?XXXX——XXXXXThe state of relations between we Americans is bad, very bad. We dispute between us too much. (big stain here, can’t make out what it covers) ….ou.d be friends, all us together. But there is problem. I uncovered reason we ‘bitchalot’. See, I get familiar with easytalk. We be nice now to you and me, but there MAGA Repelicans. One even wrote a letter to you Mr. Edeetore. One is enough. No more bad letters! I kno not where from they come, but they guilty. The letter from yesterday is cato-strof. I and everyone be much pleased if they just come to senses and agree with us. So we can be friends with good relations, please refuse MAGA letters.

Thank you Sincerely,

It appears North Adams will soon be embracing the Tricia Farley-Country Buffet (D-illegal aliens) and Barry “Flat” Tyer city wrecking school of thought, that “diversity strengthens our city to those looking on the outside.”

Of course, what they don’t tell you is, “diversity” is now democRAT code word for illegal aliens.

It started with the Veterans, now it’s onto the youth.

Instead of the city repairing a building that the YMCA has occupied and provided numerous activities for kids for over 30 years, North Adams has shown the YMCA the boot. Now NA mayor Jenn Macksey will “explore her options.”

I’ll start the opening odds at 100/1 that illegal aliens will be “housed” there until “further notice” by the summertime.

This will be my last post on April Fool’s Day also.

Much like Dan, I too wish this was an April Fool’s joke I was posting.

To make the illegal alien’s state rep, Tricia Farley-Country Buffet (D-illegal aliens), happy and joyful on this first day in April 2024, I wanted to post a few “feel good stories” to help brighten her day:

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-03-16/los-angeles-police-south-american-crime-tourism

https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/scottsdale-breaking/2024/02/03/south-american-organized-crime-targeting-arizona-homes-police-say/72424318007/

After reading or watching these feel-good stories, keep in mind what TFCB said about illegals, “Chief Wynn said it’s safe.”

For the past five days or so there has been no Pittsfield Police daily log listed. Also, if you go into the City of Pittsfield website, the police department is suspended. So, does that mean all the cops are suspended? Do we no longer have a police department? Or does it mean they don’t want taxpayers to know what is going on in the city? After seeing the picture of Mayor Maypo with the Easter Bunny, did the Easter bunny hide the police department?

Most likely they could be upgrading the website, most well-run companies/businesses post information when performing an upgrade. Of course, the city administration has completely lacked any communication skills for years. Why would anything change now? After all it’s none of taxpayer’s business, especially since we pay their salaries.

If Biden wins in 2024 the far left liberal agenda will be on steroids and Pittsfield will go downhill even further since that is their agenda for the entire country. For anyone who says this isn’t their agenda, then tell us anything here in Berkshire County that has improved since the far left has taken over here. Same with the entire country.

They gave Jumpin’ Joe the contract because he is a robot with no soul (ask anyone who’s worked/works in the PPS) and he doesn’t care who he actually pisses off. He’s large (see forehead) and in charge. It’s all about the data and numbers.

With that said, Crosby and Conte need upgrades. Realistically, Crosby has a wonderful location for an awesome campus. But, as we learned with THS, the city will more than likely screw it up, cost us millions and all the good buddies will get kickbacks.

I almost guarantee there will be segregated bathrooms and rainbow hallways. Joe likes irony.

And with all the preliminary studies and consultants designing and deciding and deciphering the viability of a new Taconic high school several years ago, they then had second thoughts after it was built and decided to make it vocational only? Did this really happen? Did all those experts miss something in the work up? And if so, why would we ever trust them to do another school investment of tens of millions of taxpayer dollars?

In the heart of Bitchfield, where shadows loom, Bike lanes stretch like hesitant whispers, Unwanted, they weave through the asphalt veins, Their painted lines fading under tire treads.

Bump outs, insatiable mouths, devour parking spaces, Gnawing at curbsides, leaving drivers circling, And street cleaning becomes a year-round nightmare, As brooms sweep futilely against the city’s debris.
Speed bumps rise like restless waves, Narrowing roads, slowing the pulse of traffic, While roundabouts spin dizzying tales, Where cars dance in perpetual circles.
Confusing signage points in cryptic directions, A labyrinth of arrows and symbols, Guiding lost souls toward bureaucratic dead ends, Leaving them stranded at intersections of indecision.
Small businesses, once hopeful saplings, Now wither under the weight of punishing tax rates, Their neon signs flicker, fading into oblivion, As the city’s ledger balances on their backs.
Convenient parking? A myth whispered in hushed tones, Forlorn meters guard empty spaces, And drivers, defeated, park blocks away, Their footsteps echoing through deserted streets.
Draconian enforcement cracks its whip, Stern-faced officers pounce on jaywalkers, Yet serious offenses slip through the net, Like shadows melting into the night.
Social services multiply like rabbits, Their presence felt in every sheltered alcove, While undesirables huddle in forgotten corners, Their stories etched in the graffiti on brick walls.
Poor lighting casts long shadows, Illuminating broken glass and discarded dreams, As blight creeps along cracked sidewalks, A silent epidemic infecting the city’s soul.
Empty storefronts, hollow-eyed and boarded, Once vibrant with dreams of commerce, Now echo with the ghosts of merchandise, Their shelves barren, their memories fading.
Shoppers, elusive as wraiths, flit by, Their bags filled elsewhere, their footsteps hurried, And respectable, middle-class citizens, Become specters, fading into the urban mist.
Public safety, a whispered prayer, Echoes through dimly lit alleyways, While the watchdog media sleeps, its ink drying, And headlines remain unwritten, truths untold.
So, in the heart of Bitchfield, where shadows loom, The city’s pulse falters, its rhythm discordant, And we wonder if redemption lies hidden, In the spaces between broken bricks and forgotten dreams.

We are expecting these “elected” officials to do something they have no intention of doing now and never did when they asked for votes. There is simply no will to actually govern in a manner beneficial to the constituency as a whole. And they have managed to have taken control of any entity that might have provided oversight and only fools think things are going to be otherwise in Pittsfield. Embedded is the keystone of local government.

Get out while you can. There will be no cavalry coming over the horizon. There is no public unity for a Tea Party. There is only a very powerful cabal, more than happy to cannibalize and devour those who it might find in its web.

Urban cities have been kept alive by democrats all over America. THE DOWNTOWNS are dead in America.Suburban malls are dead all over America. It is time to turn downtown into a place to live.It is time to turn suburban malls into places to live.Dont subsidized another wealthy developer downtown. We tried and we are chasing the dream of urban downtown success.Capitalism killed all downtowns everywhere but a few places.Take care of what we own and don’t add one thing for 5 years.Layoff all new positions for the last 5 years.Water and Sewar went up 400% in 6 years.Taxes are going up 10% per 12 months.Lenox taxes are half of Pittsfield taxes.Marchetti has plenty of tax dollars to maintain Pittsfield but he wants play money for Tyer and his friends. Both Marchetti and Tyer got wealthy off the Pittsfield taxpayer. They both can afford the higher taxes.Marchetti needs to govern for the poor and not the rich.Marchetti needs to govern from the bottom.Take care of tree limbs blocking street lights.Fix sidewalks.Close Crosby school in 5 years along with PHS and Allendale school.Plan the consolidation as all smart people do.The council does not understand what people think of their decisions from a distance.Sorry to say this but you all seem incompetent to add numbers. When you realize you are in a hole ,you must stop digging. We can save this city and it requires discipline. How many times have you driven by a house with a 100,000 dollar garage for all the boats and 4 wheel toys next to a house with holes in the roof and broken windows….That’s Pittsfield

TSC, it’s well established by now that after watching hours of MSNBC and The View, you imbibe in whatever intoxicants you (can probably get your hands on) use and then come on here and attempt to regurgitate whatever you heard.

A quick internet search will quickly disprove your “Urban cities…..alive by democRATS all over America.” Take a look below, I have posted a link to the 20 most violent cities in America.

I’m going to take it a step further, which MSDNC and MSM don’t do, and list the current political party (D or R) that currently oversees that city. I’ll only do it for 10 of the 20.

Your objective (an easier term for you: goal) is to try and find the common denominator (similarity) between the political party and violent crime and ask yourself, why.

Trump can’t cause every problem, can he TSC?

Most Violent Cities in America 2024 (worldpopulationreview.com)

  1. St Louis, MO (D-mayor)
  2. Detriot, MI (D-mayor)
  3. Baltimore, MD (D-mayor)
  4. Memphis, TN (D-mayor)
  5. Little Rock, AR (D-mayor)
  6. Milwaukee, WI (D-mayor)
  7. Rockford, IL (D-mayor)
  8. Cleveland, OH (D-mayor)
  9. Stockton, CA (R-mayor)
  10. Albuquerque, NM (D-mayor)

D-Ted Wheeler’s Portland where an “autonomous zone (lawless)” was taken over by Antifa thugs er “peaceful protesters” in 2020,
our own state capitol Boston where D-Gov Healey and D-Mayor Wu are currently kicking out homeless Veterans to make room for more “migrants”, D-Healey is sending some to The Beautiful Berkshires too!………

Boy, how did the PPS lose Barbara Malkas? She is rational – and in response to declining enrollment and schools needing repair she is closing Greylock Elementary. Her comment “we need to be fiscally responsible to our community members” is music to my ears.
She also stated in the Eagle report, “it will be up to city voters when it’s time to decide on building the new school.” This attitude makes me want to move out of the Pitt to North Adams!
What is wrong with Curtis? Too busy building an empire? Close some schools and consolidate! Save us bedraggled taxpayers some dough!

So you argue that Cities were first built by communists (buildings, business, services, import/export hubs with foreign cities&communities. Then capitalists came in and wrecked them? Fit for Apeil Fools.

So much for Pres Coolidge and ” The business of America is business.”

And what else could create a great city? Let’s take a tiny simple city, such as Bitchfield. Could a mayor, 10 city directors, and a council of 11 Mayor picked men and women create a great city where to their advantage all the buildings are already present? They don’t have to build a single thing nor spend a single dime – just write the logic and direct the activity to make a great city. The evidence is that they cannot.

Also, capitalism, in my limited economic understanding, is strictly the outcome of market activity following Adam Smith. His principles have not been refuted. communists simply try to argue that the State needs to regulate the flow of money to produce a governable people. That, of course, is no different than any tyranny that preceded Marx.

Traitor Joe’s memory is shot.

He can’t even remember last week, when he declared Easter Sunday Tranny day, and banned any Christian displays or mention of the true Meaning of Easter from his enclave; He has risen.

Joe did manage to “sniff” the children who were lured in with a Easter egg hunt.

Gov Hochel also declared Easter Tranny day for NY State.

NYC 1956, notice a difference?

Current Communist Goals

EXTENSION OF REMARKS OF HON. A. S. HERLONG, JR. OF FLORIDA

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Thursday, January 10, 1963

Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.

At Mrs. Nordman’s request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following “Current Communist Goals,” which she identifies as an excerpt from “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen:

[From “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen]

CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use [“]united force[“] to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike

Put a new police station where Crosby is, and use Covid cash and opioid lawsuit millions to pay for it. Do not rebuild Crosby anywhere, we don’t need it.
